Three years ago I posted my opinion about the first two seasons of Succession, a series that became one of my favorites. A few hours after watching the final episode of the series, it is now undoubtedly part of my top best series.

When the third season ended I was a little worried, it was a good season, but I felt that they were already stretching the story. my doubts increased when I read the news that they were supposedly planning to do five seasons. I think maybe those were the original plans, fortunately the creator of the series, while filming the fourth season, declared to the media that it was the definitive end.
There are TV series that have been very successful and that's why the producers decide to lengthen the plots, to add filler. I'm very happy that Succession ended on a high. It's the best way to end a series, when it's at its best. The temptation to drag it all out to keep making money is great, but it's better to join the club of unforgettable series.
Filthy rich and despicable people, none of that has changed, the Roy's are still vermin, poisonous snakes living in a world of treachery. When I first wrote about the succession I made it very clear that it was hard to like their characters and perhaps the screenwriters have managed to change that perception a bit. They're still repugnant to me, but we've also seen the more fragile sides of the characters, so there may be some sympathy for some of them.
Greg and Tom are the funniest duo in the series, and the audience can feel sympathy for them because they provide the most hilarious situations in the series, their interactions, each pursuing their own interests and one of them taking advantage of their position. For four seasons they have starred in hilarious scenes, but even they have had the opportunity to stand out, both together and separately in this fourth season. There is one piece of advice Tom gives Greg, about information that is a life lesson and I had to share it on my twitter.
The evolution of each character has been constant, which shows a good development by the screenwriters, to create these unscrupulous beings, with diverse personalities but who have in common betrayal and ambition for power, to achieve their goals at any cost, no matter what, no matter if that means going against your own family.
A dysfunctional family, with a lot of money, but with that lack of parental love that has marked them since they were children. It is in this season where the internal conflicts that drag the characters makes them more fragile and humanizes them in a forceful way.

It was a good thing, because they did manage to impress and excite me. They were right, the final season was a marvel.

Everything changes completely in the masterful episode three, when something happens that was inevitable and perhaps we were waiting for it to happen from the beginning of the series, but they knew how to throw the viewer off and give us a shocking episode that made us ask: what now? There were seven episodes left and we were left unsettled by a tragic and beautifully shot episode. As I watched the episode, I kept thinking it was a gimmick, but it wasn't.
The behind the scenes of each episode is not to be missed, as we learn some anecdotes of the shooting, how some sequence shots were made, we can appreciate even more the performances of the cast and the work of the production team, where there is a lot of creative freedom, letting the characters flow naturally, with a certain dose of improvisation, being a challenge for the actors, who provide a natural and solid interpretation. A marvel! But we will not only notice it in episode three, everything that came after was of an impressive quality, raising expectations in each episode and letting each character have their moment of glory.

Pero no sólo lo notaremos en el episodio tres, todo lo que vino después fue de una calidad impresionante, elevando las expectativas en cada episodio y dejando que cada personaje tuviera su momento de gloria.

Roman is one of the characters that has impressed me the most this season, and his breakout moment in the penultimate episode gave Kieran Culkin another moment to highlight.
The penultimate episode deserves a special mention, the one focused on the presidential election, which shows how the reins of power are wielded from a major media outlet. An episode in which it is clear that the world for these millionaires is nothing more than a game board to achieve their goals, without caring at all about morality or the future of their own nation.
Brillar. Eso es lo que han hecho cada uno de los personajes de Succession en su última temporada. Kendall, Siobhan, Roman, Tom destacan en varios momentos. Después del tercer episodio hay un duelo interpretativo entre todos ellos. La discusión de Tom y Shiv, en la que cada uno se sincera sobre sus sentimientos, explotando con fuerza y quitándose las máscaras, es la única vez que ambos han sido realmente honestos. Un episodio en el que queda claro que el mundo para estos millonarios no es más que un tablero de juego para conseguir sus objetivos, sin importarles en absoluto la moralidad o el futuro de su propia nación.
I am absolutely certain that the entire Succession team will garner many Emmy Award nominations. It's already shaping up to be the heavy favorite, it was their last season and the acting work has been truly top notch. The nominations it receives will be well deserved. Also keep in mind that it will be in next year's Golden Globes in the series categories. Of that there is no doubt.
It is a perfect ending and coherent with what has been told from the beginning, in addition, it leaves us another great lesson of life: the most shabby, egomaniacs and who only think of their personal benefit, are those who manage to climb the high positions and even manage an empire for the new king, because the kings like to surround themselves only with people who fulfill their orders, who do not challenge anything, who do not think, just to fulfill their whims and show false smiles to everything they say. That's the way the world is. The end of the series and what happens to the three brothers who wanted to be kings, is a reflection of how society is at all levels. Therein lies the perfection of its denouement.
The end of a series of this level will always bring debates. Maybe some viewers are not happy with the ending, others will think that they could do another season, that the Roy dynasty can give us more of their story, but for me it has been satisfying and as I said at the beginning, it is better to say goodbye being at the top. For me the important thing has been this enjoyable journey through some despicable but unforgettable characters. I will miss these ill-born millionaires who betray each other at every turn, but they are already part of the memory and have elevated Succession to the Olympus of American series.

Estoy completamente seguro de que todo el equipo de Succession conseguirá muchas nominaciones a los premios Emmy. Ya se perfila como la gran favorita, fue su última temporada y el trabajo actoral ha sido realmente de primera. Las nominaciones que reciba serán bien merecidas. También hay que tener en cuenta que estará en los Globos de Oro del año que viene en las categorías de series. De eso no hay duda.
Es un final perfecto y coherente con lo que se ha contado desde el principio, además, nos deja otra gran lección de vida: los más rastreros, ególatras y que sólo piensan en su beneficio personal, son los que consiguen escalar los altos cargos e incluso gestionar un imperio para el nuevo rey, porque a los reyes les gusta rodearse sólo de gente que cumpla sus órdenes, que no rebata nada, que no piense, sólo para cumplir sus caprichos y mostrar falsas sonrisas a todo lo que dicen. Así es el mundo. El final de la serie y lo que les ocurre a los tres hermanos que querían ser reyes, es un reflejo de cómo es la sociedad a todos los niveles. Ahí está la perfección de su desenlace.
El final de una serie de este nivel siempre traerá debates. Quizás algunos espectadores no estén contentos con el final, otros pensarán que podrían hacer otra temporada, que la dinastía Roy puede darnos más de su historia, pero para mí ha sido satisfactorio y como dije al principio, es mejor despedirse estando en lo más alto. Para mi lo importante ha sido este agradable viaje a través de unos personajes despreciables pero inolvidables. Echaré de menos a estos millonarios mal nacidos que se traicionan a cada momento, pero ya forman parte del recuerdo y han elevado a Succession al Olimpo de las series americanas.
