Hello everyone, today I want to talk a little about a movie I saw yesterday, I had been putting it off a lot, and finally, I decided to finish watching it. I was interested because it is about something that happened in real life.
What is this movie? It is the story of a nurse named Charlie Cullen, who was sentenced to life in prison for murdering patients.
Hola a todos, hoy quiero hablar un poco de una película que vi ayer, la había estado posponiendo mucho, y por fin, decidí ya terminarla de ver. Me interesó porque se trata de algo que pasó en la vida real.
¿De qué trata esta película? Es la historia de un enfermero llamado Charlie Cullen, el cual fue condenado a cadena perpetua por asesinar a pacientes.
The story introduces us to a single mother (Amy) with two daughters, for anyone who doesn't know what the story is about, you would think that the story is going to focus on this woman but it is not, since we see her working two shifts and doing the impossible to support their daughters so we could say that they share the limelight.
La historia nos presenta a una madre soltera (Amy) con dos hijas, para cualquiera que no sepa de qué es la historia, pensaría que la historia se va a centrar en esta mujer pero no es así, ya que la vemos trabajando dos turnos y haciendo lo imposible para mantener a sus hijas por lo que podríamos decir que comparten el protagonismo.
Both Charlie and Amy are new to the hospital, but Amy had already been working for a couple of months longer than him, they meet and become friends, later it is discovered that Amy suffers from heart disease. Charlie and Amy worked the night shift, and Charlie was very attentive at his job, and helped Amy a lot, it is implied that this is how they spend several nights on their shifts, to the point that they become closer, like I said before, they become friends.
An important part of the story is when Amy has an issue and Charlie is present and she decides to tell him what is happening to her and in that she mentions that she does not have health insurance and that she must work at least one year to be able to access it. As we know hospital bills are very expensive without insurance. Charlie agrees to help her through those difficult times.
Tanto Charlie como Amy son nuevos en el hospital, pero Amy ya tenía un par de meses más que él trabajando, estos se conocen y se hacen amigos, más adelante se descubre que Amy sufre de una enfermedad cardiaca. Charlie y Amy trabajaban en el turno de la noche, y Charlie era muy atento en su trabajo, y ayudaba bastante a Amy, se da a entender de que así pasan varías noches en sus turnos, hasta el punto de que se vuelven más cercanos, como dije antes, se hacen amigos.
Una parte importante de la historia es cuando Amy le da un ataque y está presente Charlie y ella decide contarle que le está sucediendo y en eso menciona de que no tiene seguro medico y que debe llegar a al menos un año de trabajo para poder acceder a él. Como sabemos las facturas de los hospitales son muy caras sin un seguro. Charlie se compromete a ayudarla a pasar esos momentos difíciles.
Later one of Amy's patients dies, she was an old woman but she really seemed to be recovering and just like that she died, which seems suspicious, and after several weeks, officials decide to investigate but it is surprising how the hospital does not want to deliver all the data so that the death of this patient can be properly investigated, who, by the way, was also cremated, so on the one hand the officers lacked reliable evidence, but even so the death was highly suspicious. With all this, the officers are allowed to interview the hospital employees, until they reach Charlie, investigating more of Charlie's life, the officers find him suspicious because he already had charges against him that were dropped, one of binging, and also something related to Digoxin.

Later in the story there is a moment where Amy is interviewed, she was accompanied by hospital staff but she leaves because something came up and they take advantage at that precise moment to show Amy a kind of medical report, and Amy seemed to her strange that there was a double medication, they gave her insulin and that could kill her, however, she was incredulous because she did not believe that someone could make that mistake

This seems to continue to focus on Amy, because later on from all this, another patient dies, and in the process where she is giving manual resuscitation, she becomes very exhausted and it seems that she was having a crisis and coincidentally she finds herself. with Charlie and in this scene, it is quite key because they show us that this nurse manages to open the drawer and take out the medicine that Amy needs for her heart problem, obviously Amy is scared and tells him that they are going to fire her for this, and Charlie confesses that the system to open the drawers has a flaw, it is important to mention that to get some medicine, a computerized system is used, when you enter with a username and password, provides you with medicine. But the flaw that Charlie found and the one he tells Amy is that if you cancel the order, the drawer still opens. At this point in the story we see how Amy had not given importance to this detail.
Todo esto sucede y todavía no es ni la mitad de la historía. And even so with her blindness, Amy again suffers the death of another patient, whose death was also very strange, because everything indicated that the patient was recovering, this was a mother with her month-old baby and her husband, Amy seemed quite affected because it was already very strange, however at that moment she did not seem to doubt Charlie either. While all this was happening, the officers also had their problems and to make it short, they decided to pay Amy a visit to see if she could help them, but Amy before they spoke, she thought they had come because of the recent death of this patient. and the officers were surprised asking if another death like this had happened again, that they came to talk about was the first death (and the only one they knew of) so, this was a surprise for everyone, and here again they accuse Charlie, but she remains firm and decides to defend her friend, already at this point they had a fairly close friendship.
Finally there is a point in the movie, which Amy is curious about, and this is from the beginning of the movie but I will mention it here. Charlie had gone through 9 hospitals, and when he was entering and they were getting to know each other, Amy asks him where he has been and coincidentally in one of the hospitals where he had worked, a friend of Amy's also works there, so now they had something in common. Amy remembered this, and one day she decided to call her friend and without having to ask her questions, Amy only mentioned the name of Charlie Cullen, if he had really worked there, and her friend confirms that it is true, but that there was always a rumor of him, about the death of patients. She, very concerned, asks her why no one reported him, there really was no proof, and tells her that it was just a rumor because since he arrived there had been deaths happening very often, when really it was something that happened once a month or something like that, and that the rumor got stronger when Charlie stopped working at the hospital and the deaths went down. In addition to that she gives her an important piece of information, that they had found IV bags contaminated with insulin in the hospital warehouses.
Amy, realmente estaba muy cegada, a pesar de que en una ocasión los oficiales habían hecho como una sugerencia con respecto a la muerte del paciente que estaban investigando, sacando el nombre de Charlie y Amy se mostró muy alterada, diciendo que no podía creerlo, porque Charlie era muy buen enfermero..

Finalmente hay un punto en la película, que le da curiosidad a Amy, y esto es desde el inicio de la película pero lo mencionaré aquí. Charlie habia pasado por 9 hospitales, y cuando el estaba ingresando y se estaban conociendo ellos dos, Amy le pregunta donde ha estado y casualmente en uno de los hospitales donde él había trabajdo, una amiga de Amy también trabaja ahí, por lo que ahora tenían algo en común. Amy recordó esto, y un día decidió citar a su amiga y sin necesidad de hacerle preguntas, Amy solo mencionó el nombre de Charlie Cullen, si realmente había trabajado ahí, y su amiga, le confirma que sí es cierto , pero que siempre había un rumor de él, acerca de la muerte de los pacientes. Ella muy consternada le pregunta porque nadie lo denunció, realmente no había pruebas, y le comenta que sólo era un rumor porque desde que él llegó habían estado sucediendo muertes muy seguidas, cuando realmente era algo que sucedía una vez al mes o algo así, y que el rumor se hizo más fuerte cuando Charlie dejó de trabajar en el hospital y las muertes descendieron. Además de que le da un dato importante, que habían encontrado bolsas de suero contamidas con insulina en los almacenes del hospital.
