Yasumi is a girl who, ever since she was very young, has loved one thing above all else: reading manga. She’s so passionate about manga that she wants to become a professional mangaka when she grows up.
Kore Kaite Shine is one of those anime that catch your attention because they seem to have a simple story, but they draw you in from the start because of how endearing the characters are; at the same time, you know they’ll have a moving story.
Kore Kaite Shine follows the story of Yasumi. As I mentioned, this girl is a huge manga fan; she lives on a small, remote island in Japan. At first, Yasumi was crazy about manga and looked up to mangaka with a certain admiration, since they’re capable of creating stories that captivate and move people, as well as inspiring others. Yasumi herself draws inspiration from her favorite manga when she needs it.
Yasumi decides to start a manga club at her school, so she sets out to recruit more members so the club can officially launch. That’s where the anime gets interesting, as it shows us the journey of someone who loves manga and is striving to make her way toward fulfilling her dream. As we know, the path isn’t easy, and Yasumi will soon discover this, as she’ll face challenges that she and her friends must overcome together.
I think that’s the beauty of Kore Kaite Shine—seeing how these girls, full of dreams, strive to achieve their goals even though they know that the manga industry is an extremely competitive world and that not all mangaka can turn their passion into a profitable career.
And I think that’s where the beauty of this anime lies, because Yasumi and her friends aren’t girls who suddenly become prodigies—they don’t suddenly know how to write well-structured stories or draw well overnight. No. They’re girls who love something and have to learn the techniques from scratch. And that’s what makes this anime so relatable. We can all have a passion, but that doesn’t mean we have to be good at it—we have to learn and work hard to become good at what we love.
Kore Kaite Shine is an anime that blends comedy, drama, and an intriguing psychological aspect of manga artists—all combined with vibrant colors and solid animation. It may not be the best animation out there, but for the purposes of the story, it does the job. The vibrant colors represent the energy and passion of youth living out their dreams with vigor, knowing that those dreams can come true.
A school anime about writing manga and the path one must take to do so, full of youthful antics, a bit of drama, and something I don’t want to reveal here but that’s worth watching and discovering for yourself. Without a doubt, Kore Kaite Shine is one of the best anime of this season.
Enjoy it!
