Greetings dear hive community! Suddenly it has occurred to me to talk to you from time to time about books, movies, series and books that I have read throughout my life and that have allowed me to complete much of my academic knowledge about mental illnesses, because when I thought of developing this blog, I thought that I wanted the information about mental illnesses to reach as many people as possible in the simplest way possible, and in this way I could contribute my bit to this great community.
Based on that, it is for me an imperative need first of all to tell you about the series, which I think is one of the best dramas I have seen, literally in my whole life, called: "Its ok not to be ok" or also known by its original translation from Korean: "Psycho but it's ok"; you can find it on Netflix or some free k-dramas platforms on the web.
Its ok not to be ok, is for me as a physician, more than a series, it really is an encyclopedia of mental health learning presented in television series format.
It is a series of Korean origin, premiered in June 2021, described as a drama of: Romance, fantasy, psychological and comedy; it consists of 16 chapters, each one with a quite deep psychological message. What makes it different, in my opinion, besides many other things that I will tell you more about later, is that they add to the description of each chapter an introduction through a cartoon of stories, in the best Tim Burton's style, quite bizarre, by the way, but that leave a psychological message to free interpretation. The cartoon allows you to create even more expectation for the chapter, since the first thing you wonder is how a chapter in a series that appears to be romantic, can relate to that cartoon that is initially so strange?
¿Qué es lo que hace especial a esta serie?
What makes this series special? The story of the series in general talks about the lives of 3 characters, the main character: Kang Tae, the leading lady: Moon Young and the first supporting actor: Sang tae who is the main character's older brother. I will tell you a little about why I consider it special by talking about each character below.

It is described during the series as a person with Antisocial Personality Disorder, with the characteristics of this, is someone who only cares about herself, impulsive, obsessive, arrogant and generally with little ability to establish personal relationships of any kind, so why would I like a character like that, it seems pretty unbearable right?
The truth is that as you get to know the character, you realize that all this personality has a very traumatic origin in her childhood, when her mother was murdered in her own home; her mother, who had severe psychiatric problems, taught her a lot of abnormal behaviors such as: not having empathy for others, being hostile, cruel, and lonely, in general, being exactly like her.
La pobre niña, siendo un ser inocente no tenía consciencia de nada de esto y al morir su madre quedó con el dolor propio por la pérdida, más todas las características malas que ésta le enseñó, creciendo con un profundo rechazo a la sociedad, incapacidad para sentir empatía o amor hacia las otras personas, llegando a sufrir de Crisis de Pánico y hasta Parálisis de Sueño, así que, sin familia, porque su papá terminó con demencia internado en un hospital psiquiátrico, y tratando de sobrevivir en el mundo, se convirtió en una escritora de cuentos; (los cuentos que les dije que salen al comienzo de cada capítulo) estos cuentos ella los narra tal cual como ella es, nunca pensó que tendrían tal aceptación, porque son cuentos infantiles, pero con imágenes bastante grotescas y con historias muy poco convencionales, sin embargo extrañamente fueron bastante bien acogidos por la comunidad infantil.
The poor girl, being an innocent being was not aware of any of this and when her mother died she was left with her own pain for the loss, plus all the bad characteristics that her mother taught her, growing up with a deep rejection of society, inability to feel empathy or love towards other people, even suffering from panic attacks and even sleep paralysis, so, without family, because her father ended up with dementia in a psychiatric hospital, and trying to survive in the world, she became a writer of short stories; (the stories that I told you at the beginning of each chapter) these stories she narrates as she is, she never thought they would have such acceptance, because they are children's stories, but with quite grotesque images and with very unconventional stories, however strangely they were quite well received by the children's community.
Seems like a job like any other, right? But the truth behind it is that in each story, which appears to be a children's story, there is a deeper interpretation based on her traumas and difficulties she has encountered throughout her life, she believes that no one really understands the meaning behind them, until she meets the male protagonist Kang Tae.

Kang Tae is a Nursing Technician who has had various kinds of jobs in the past, but he doesn't stay long in them, he has lived his whole life since childhood being the main support and caretaker of his older brother, who has autism spectrum grade 3 (high functionality) , Kang Tae appears to be a nice person, friendly, hardworking and kind-hearted, in appearance a normal human being, friendly, hardworking and kind-hearted, in appearance a normal human being without problems, but the reality is that his whole life revolves around his brother, who is the only family he has left after the murder of his mother when he was a child, and having grown up without a father figure.
Throughout the story we realize that he has really deep wounds from his childhood, given by a Chronic Depression probably smiling, he has been able to hide very well, but the true is that he has never been able to develop stable personal relationships, he is very closed, unable to show his feelings and to express what he really thinks; He basically feels that he has no right to that, his mother taught him since he was a child that he should only take care of his brother.
From then on he has only focused his whole life on working for him, his brother and getting ahead; On the other hand, since his brother is the center of his universe, any situation that he presents and that produces some kind of discomfort or crisis, which are relatively frequent in him, makes Kang Tae's life is completely paralyzed, to the point that constantly changes jobs and moves cities, to achieve mental stability of his brother and that absolutely nothing will cause him harm, thus preventing, develop lasting relationships of any kind, and not even worry about developing them because he knows that at some point will have to leave them.

And finally we have the 1st secu dary actor, the older brother of the male protagonist with Autism Spectrum, called: Sang Tae, this character, even though he is the third in importance, for me he becomes the character that is the center of the whole series, he is the one that leaves us all learning the most, because even when he appears to be in his own world, he has a childish mentality, he is little empathetic, he is a little obsessive, Sang tae is able to work, save his money, travel alone, is an incredible painter and has a genius memory, that is to say, in spite of the autistic spectrum, he is quite independent and understands a lot of feelings even when he seems not to understand them, so far everything seems to be fine with him, right?
¿Hasta ahora todo aparenta estar bien con él, cierto? El problema principal se basa en que como solo ha vivido con su hermano la mayor parte de su vida es de cierta forma dependiente de él, existe otro problema que lo afecta y que si le limita realmente su vida y es Motefobia Severa (miedo a las mariposas), éste viene como resultado de un Trastorno de Estrés Post Traumático por haber presenciado cuando era niño el asesinado de su madre; su miedo es tal y las crisis son tan severas, que su hermano, cuando es época de aparición de mariposas en los lugares donde residen, prefiere que se muden de provincias para protegerlo de las severas Crisis de Pánico que le dan.
The main problem is based on the fact that as he has only lived with his brother most of his life he is somewhat dependent on him, there is another problem that affects him and that really limits his life and it is severe Motephobia (fear of butterflies), this comes as a result of a Post Traumatic Stress for having witnessed as a child the murder of his mother; His fear is such and the crises are so severe, that his brother, when it is the season of butterflies' appearance in the places where they live, prefers that they move to other provinces to protect him from the severe panic crises he gets.
This character is the one who will make the other two get to know each other because he has long loved the children's stories written by the protagonist. And one day he knows that the protagonist will make an exhibition of his next book, he tells his brother that he wants to meet his lifelong idol, and it is there that the other two characters meet.

-First of all this series teaches us how even when you have a rough past, with many difficulties, you can always move forward, you can always find those who understand you and help you evolve.
Another factor that I like about the series is the visibility it gives to several mental illnesses with quite characteristic characters, since much of it takes place in a psychiatric hospital, where we can find patients with Dementia, Schizophrenia, Severe Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Multiple Personalities, Generalized Anxiety, etc., we actually have a little bit of everything, it is as I said before a book of psychology and psychiatry narrated very picturesquely; In addition to the main characters, each patient in the hospital has their own story, and each story has its own learning that they subtly let the viewer see.
-La utilización de la narrativa a través de cuentos, con personajes con un toque bizarro; a mi parecer es una excelente forma de poner a pensar al la gente, son cuentos sencillos con pocos párrafos, pero que cuando los terminas te quedas impactado de cómo el escritor en realidad pudo desarrollar tal disparidad para demostrar una enseñanza.
The use of narrative through stories, with characters with a bizarre touch; in my opinion is an excellent way to make people think, they are simple stories with few paragraphs, but when you finish them you are shocked at how the writer could actually develop such disparity to demonstrate a teaching.
En conclusión
In conclusion: The series is truly a work of art without any waste, 16 chapters each narrated in the most elegant way, with excellent costume settings, scene frames, wonderful performances, a dream script, a beautiful soundtrack and a direction that leaves room to develop a story with a touch of comedy, drama, tragedy, and romance, all together, and at the same time leave us all with many lessons to learn.
Hay muchísimas cosas que quisiera decirles sobre la serie, se los juro que es de las mejores series que he visto en mi vida!! pero me tardaría cientos de párrafos en desarrollar mis ideas y siento que, a parte, les spoileraría todo, y no es la idea, aunque ya medio lo hice ja ja ¡mentira!....bueno mis queridos HIVERS espero, aunque sea, después de todo este análisis bastante largo, haberles despertado la necesidad de ver la serie... no importa cuando lo hagas ¡pero vela! no te vas a querer perder ni un segundo de ella.
