Escuelita, escuelita no quedaras vacía,

Me despido.

Escuelita, escuelita you will not remain empty,
behind your doorway is my childhood.

Movies and more movies...
Mexican cinema films are classics that were made into television, and I have enjoyed many of them. I am drawn to films where music and romance are the main features. Outstanding actors and actresses such as Pedro Infante, Jorge Negrete, Sara García, Marga López, Agustín Lara among others.
As for comedy, my imagination flew to the immortal Mario Moreno, for me his movies left many teachings. I still laugh out loud when I see Cantinflas, over and over again, El Padrecito, Ahí está el detalle, El Barrendero, El bolero de Raquel, El Patrullero 777, El Profe among others. Being El Profe, my favorite because it raises many aspects of childhood and school life that many of us forget or ignore because they are not relevant, such as friends, the classroom, recess, the canteen and other things.
At school, I strengthened my bonds of friendship that still has not been broken despite time and distance. My friends Chichita and Juanita, I carry them in my heart and memories. I remember those moments when the three of us formed an indestructible block and defended ourselves from the rest of the world.
In the classrooms there was always the funny student, the TV artist as we Venezuelans say, the one who lived next to the teacher, the studious ones, the sportsmen, the one who was the child who went out in the cultural events. But there was fellowship in the classroom, no one dared to tell on another, that was an oath where words were not necessary.

In this film, a teacher from the city decides to leave the comforts and go to a town where he is in need. Socrates arrives at Romeral and finds that there is a character who has dominated the population, represents ignorance, and opposes the children to be educated.
Socrates symbolizes wisdom, knowledge, freedom, and justice; he has the support of the town priest, who represents spirituality.
Doña Hortensia represents love and the children of the village represent innocence, all together they undertake the tortuous path, overcoming obstacles to get out of ignorance.
In spite of the adversities, the teacher fulfills his mission; which is to educate the children, future good men, and to put an end to ignorance. Likewise, they take home a message of peace to put an end to the prevailing violence.
During the educational process, he manages to make the students love their town, work, and the different professions of their parents. Wisdom and justice overcame ignorance.
"As that great poet said, who did not say anything because they did not give him time, but as 'Chicaspear' said, the 'philosophy of life is 'to be or not to be', which means "I saw you or not".

This film is 50 years old, it was released in 1971, under the direction of Miguel M. Delgado. It is a 120-minute comedy where love, solidarity, and friendship predominate.
I see myself there, in that little school, studying. Always asking questions and looking for answers. Wow, I no longer remember many of my classmates who lived in the same neighborhood. But when by chance we did not meet again, we remembered all the anecdotes and stories.
I recall my past, and I can affirm that I had a happy childhood. I was tremendous, impertinent, and inquisitive.
As for Cantinflas, I think he was a great actor, his films are timeless and marked a milestone in Mexican cinema. His way of expressing himself, which says nothing but expresses everything, and brings implicit truth to many situations.
I bid him farewell.
