Recently on Netflix a sinister cover caught my attention, so I couldn't help but discover Japanese Tales of the Macabre, an anime that undoubtedly left me pleasantly surprised and that I can't help but review for you so you also have the opportunity to get to know it.
Recientemente en Netflix una portada siniestra llamó mi atención, así que no pude evitar descubrir Relatos Japoneses de lo Macabro, un anime que sin lugar a dudas me dejó gratamente sorprendida y que yo no puedo dejar de reseñar para ustedes para que también tengan la oportunidad de conocerlo.
Overview/Resumen
This anime is an adaptation of some stories from the manga by Junji Ito, an author who is considered the Japanese master of horror. This anime consists of 12 episodes with 20 different stories.

My Opinion/Mi Opinión
What I liked the most is that they are independent and short episodes, so it is easier to watch and also allows you to watch any episode at random, in fact, some of them are so good that they leave you wanting to keep watching more and more episodes. On the other hand the characters are varied, some are quite conventional, but others are very disconcerting and out of the ordinary until falling into the erratic, as proof of this we have Soichi, who is a character (as far as I understand) that has already been in other occasions in the author's manga. He is weird in every way, he is pale, haggard and is constantly chewing nails, although it is believed that it is to combat the lack of iron in his blood, has a quirky behavior and always wants to scare people or prank them somehow, which in a way makes him the comic relief of the series, and in a way also reminds me of Peeves (the poltergeist of Harry Potter).
Lo que más me gustó es que son episodios independientes y cortos, así que es más fácil de ver y además te permite ver cualquier episodio al azar, de hecho, algunos son tan buenos que te dejan con ganas de seguir viendo más y más episodios. Por otra parte los personajes son variopintos, algunos bastante convencionales, pero otros resultan muy desconcertantes y fuera de lo común hasta caer en lo errático, como prueba de esto tenemos a Soichi, quien es un personaje (por lo que tengo entendido) que ya ha estado en otras ocasiones en los mangas del autor. Él es raro en todos los sentidos, es pálido, ojeroso y constantemente está masticando clavos, aunque se cree que es para combatir la falta de hierro en su sangre, tiene un comportamiento extravagante y siempre quiere asustar a las personas o gastarles bromas de algún modo, lo que de cierta manera lo convierte en el alivio cómico de la serie, y de cierta manera también me recuerda a Peeves (el poltergeist de Harry Potter)
There are several episodes worth highlighting but honestly the ones I liked the most because they impressed me were “The Hanging Balloons” and “The Whispering Woman” The first one impressed me because it touches on two topics that baffle me and generate me repulsion, on the one hand the doppelgangers, who are so to speak, your evil counterpart, your other “self” which are represented in this episode as giant Balloons, which leads me to another point that also repels me: megalophobia 😱.
Hay varios episodios dignos de resaltar pero honestamente los que más me gustaron porque me impresionaron fueron "Los globos colgantes" y "La mujer susurrante" El primero me impresionó porque toca dos temas que me desconciertan y me generan repelús, por un lado los doppelganger, que son por decirlo de alguna manera, tu contraparte malvada, tu otro "yo" a los cuales se les representa en este episodio como Globos gigantes, lo cual me lleva a otro punto que también me da repelús: la megalofobia 😱.
And “The Whispering Woman” is an episode as disconcerting as its name, it is about a woman who whispers instructions to a girl who has a serious psychological problem because she never knows what to do, but this woman continued giving instructions even when she lost her life. However, and although it is a terrifying premise, this episode also holds a reflection, and it is how far the selfishness and lack of empathy of a person who does not care what happens to others can go, as long as you continue to benefit from it. It is a bit complex but you would have to analyze the episode yourself to come to your own conclusion.
Y "La mujer susurrante" es un episodio tan desconcertante como su nombre, se trata de una mujer que susurra instrucciones a una chica que tiene un grave problema sicológico pues no sabe jamás que hacer, pero esta mujer continuó dando instrucciones aún y cuando perdió la vida. Sin embargo y aunque es una premisa aterradora, este episodio también guarda una reflexión, y es hasta donde puede llegar el egoísmo y la falta de empatía de una persona a la que no le importa lo que le ocurra a los demás, con tal de que tú sigas beneficiándote de ella. Es algo un pco complejo pero tendrías que analizar el episodio tú mismo para llegar a tu propia conclusión.
Anyway, this is all I can tell you about this set of very interesting stories, but I really recommend them to you because this anime is worth a horror marathon. 😃
En fin, esto es todo lo que puedo decirles sobre este conjunto de relatos interesantísimos, pero de verdad se los recomiendo porque vale mucho la pena hacer una maratón de terror con este anime 😃.
