I read a review about this movie here in the community and I immediately went for the download because it was a recent release and had one of my favourite Nigerian actress in it. The review didn't reveal enough for me to know that Funke Akindele would take a role I wouldn't like, I'll say that became the most exciting part.
I've always liked the roles Funke plays in movies, it's either I'm in for laughter or more laughter lol. So not knowing I'll be seeing her play a funny role while being a character that will not be liked, made my experience with the story more exciting and I really love the lesson shared in the story.
"Behind The Scenes" is a 2025 Nigerian movie starring Funke Akindele, Scarlet Gomez, Debo Adedayo, Victoria Adeyele. The movie is written and directed by Funke Akindele alongside other writers and director. The story explores happening in a family of three siblings with one who is successful and only loved for her money.
Aderonke Faniran is a mother of two, successful in her real estate business but have two siblings, an elder sister and a younger brother who are always asking for financial help from her without feeling the need to work for their own money. The siblings have their own families but somehow, Aderonke is the one who is financing all of them.
The story takes an unexpected and really crazy turn when Aderonke finds out she is terminally ill and needs to be sure she is going to die and leave her children with people who will care for them as their own. The plan behind the scenes revealed the true hearts of the people she loves.
"Behind The Scenes" is a movie that teaches the lesson of entitlement, even when it is done in all the wrong ways. Thankfully, the characters had their transformation before the story ends and that places Funke Akindele in a good light to me. I also love the roles of the house help and cook, protecting the children of Aderonke while away.
The story also exposes friendship and the kind we keep, the comparison that breeds envy and even endangers. It was quite surprising to see Uche Montana take a role like that just after the Monica vibe but it gave me a refreshing outlook of characters I'm quietly getting used to. The movie is just as it's title says, and worth seeing.
