Greetings, dear friends of scrobbledlife. Today I want to share something different with you—a little bit about my musical tastes. One song in particular came to mind when I heard it, and I said to myself, “I have to share my thoughts on this song.” It has deep lyrics and a meaningful message, which I really like. I have to admit that I heard it while I was going through something very personal, and that’s what made me fall in love with it at the time.
Justin Bieber is undoubtedly a unique and global artist; many people know who he is, and he’s had plenty of controversial songs. This time, one of my favorites from his repertoire is “Love Yourself.” It speaks sarcastically about a narcissistic and toxic ex-partner. I like the part where he says, “Love yourself,” subtly implying, “Get lost.”

Debo admitir que la escuché cuando pasaba por algo muy personal y me hizo amarla en su momento.
Justin Bieber, es sin duda un artista único y global, muchas personas saben quién es y ha tenido muchas canciones controversiales. En esta ocasión una de mis favoritas de su repertorio es Love Yourself. Habla de manera sarcástica hacia una expareja narcisista y tóxica, me gusta una parte donde dice amate a ti mismo, dando a entender de manera sutil de decir vete.

I have a few thoughts on these lyrics—for example, they talk about all the times she ruined different moments in his life, and even though he’s still looking for her, he decides to say, “Not this time.” One of the parts I loved is where he says, “My mom doesn’t like you, and she likes everyone”—he’s referring to the other person’s flaws, which were obvious to everyone except him. There are many things that really resonated with me personally at the time, like the idea of saying, “I’m better off sleeping alone,” or “when you told me you hated my friends, the only problem was you, not them”—I took that very personally, and it’s all so true.
Other lines I liked were “you should go and love yourself”—suggesting that if she’s doing wrong, she should take a look at herself—and others like “I don’t want to hold you back; maybe you should know that,” “for all the times you made me feel small,” and “was I a fool for letting you tear down my walls?” All of them were key reasons for me to keep listening to the song and remembering things I shouldn’t let happen anymore.
Tengo una acotación sobre mi opinión de esta letra, como por ejemplo habla de todas las veces que le arruinó diferentes momentos en su vida, aunque aún lo busca el decide decir ya, está vez no. Una de las partes que me encantó es donde dice que "no le gustas a mi mamá y a ella le gustan todos", hace referencia de los defectos que tiene la otra persona lo cual era evidente para todos menos para el. Tiene muchas cosas que tocaron mi modo personal en su momento como por ejemplo el pensar de decir "estoy mejor durmiendo solo" o "cuando me dijiste que odiabas a mis amigos, el único problema eras tú y no ellos" lo tomé muy personal, y es tan cierto todo.
Otras frases que me gustaron fueron "deberías ir y amarte a ti misma" dejando referencia a qué si ella está bien haciendo el mal debería revisarse, otras frases fueron "no quiero retenerte, tal vez deberías saber eso", "por todas las veces que me hiciste sentir pequeño" y la de "¿fui un tonto permitiéndote derribar mis paredes?, todas ellas fueron determinantes para escuchar siempre la canción y recordar cosas que no debería permitir más.
