Hola mis amigos de la comunidad de Movies & TV el día de hoy quiero compartirles una reseña de una película con la cual me topé por casualidad de Netflix y que me dejó con muchos sentimientos encontrados. Algunas películas de Netflix de romance y drama suelen ser muy básicas y repetitivas en las historias que nos cuentan. Us and Them es la película del cual les vengo hablar hoy, una historia de amor llena de situaciones con las que te sentirás identificado y muy bien contada de principio a fin.
Hello my friends of the Movies & TV community today I want to share with you a review of a movie that I stumbled upon by chance from Netflix and that left me with a lot of mixed feelings. Some Netflix romance and drama movies tend to be very basic and repetitive in the stories they tell us. Us and Them is the movie I come to talk about today, a love story full of situations with which you will feel identified and very well told from beginning to end.
Us and Them nos cuenta la historia de como se conocieron Xiao Xiao y Jianqing en el año 2007, en un tren por pura casualidad. Xiao Xiao se monta en un tren y pierde su boleto, cuando está buscándolo un chico, Jianqing, lo encuentra y empiezan la aventura de conocerse el uno al otro. Ambos son muy jóvenes, están en sus 20s y anhelan conseguir sus sueños.
Us and Them tells the story of how Xiao Xiao and Jianqing met in 2007, on a train by pure chance. Xiao Xiao gets on a train and loses his ticket, when he is looking for it a boy, Jianqing, finds him and they start the adventure of getting to know each other. They are both very young, in their 20s and longing to achieve their dreams.

Every New Year's Eve of every year following the moment they met for some reason they spend it together. After a while they become inseparable friends, they know everything about each other. Xiao Xiao being very young wishes to be able to marry a man who will provide her well being, a home, so in this movie she meets several men, one who is older than her, another who seems to be the perfect candidate but ends up finding out that he is married and all her relationships end badly.
Por otro lado Jianqing se siente muy cercano a Xiao Xiao, es la persona que mejor la conoce y además de la amistad que tienen el se va dando cuenta de que siente algo más fuerte por ella. Jianqing trabaja arreglando computadoras pero sueña con poder tener mucho dinero y conseguir tener una vida mejor.
On the other hand Jianqing feels very close to Xiao Xiao, he is the person who knows her best and besides the friendship they have, he realizes that he feels something stronger for her. Jianqing works fixing computers but dreams of having a lot of money and having a better life.

When they both recognize what they feel for each other, their love story begins, and although their feelings are very deep, the problems of everyday life are wrapped around them. In the end they end up separating because of too many circumstances that make this happen.
Con el tiempo ambos se reencuentran casi de la misma forma en la que se conocieron, pero ya un poco más maduros y con vidas diferentes. El tiempo ha pasado y las cosas han cambiado, se dan cuenta de que tuvieron algo muy bonito pero que la vida hizo que ambos no pudieran estar juntos a pesar de ellos haber querido lo contrario porque se amaban demasiado.
Eventually they meet again almost in the same way they met, but a little more mature and with different lives. Time has passed and things have changed, they realize that they had something very nice but that life made that both could not be together even though they wanted the opposite because they loved each other too much.
Está película la pueden encontrar en Netflix y también en otras plataformas por internet, tiene una duración de dos horas y tienen que verla hasta el último minuto porque parece no tener fin. Realmente me sorprendió que Netflix tuviera una película tan buena y con una historia tan bien contada, pero bueno las películas asiáticas suelen ser buenas o al menos las que yo he visto y está no es la excepción.
This movie can be found on Netflix and also on other online platforms, it has a duration of two hours and you have to watch it until the last minute because it seems to have no end. I was really surprised that Netflix had a movie so good and with a story so well told, but well Asian movies are usually good or at least the ones I have seen and this is no exception.
Tengo aún el nudo en la garganta y quede seca de tanto llorar y lo peor es que no tiene un mal final pero tampoco el que todos esperábamos. Es hermosa de principio a fin, los actores tienen una química demasiado buena, la ambientación de la película específicamente en Beijing, la ciudad que tiene un gran significado para los protagonistas porque fue donde vivieron su romance es simplemente espectacular. La manera en la que el director nos cuenta la historia y va introduciendo fragmentos del presente hace que te sientas muy susceptible ante la historia. El efecto en blanco y negro que tiene un significado profundo en la historia de la actualidad y el sueño que logra cumplir Jianqing me dejó devastada de lo hermoso y emocionante que fue. Cuando digo que tienen que verla hasta los créditos, lo digo en serio, al final se llevarán una sorpresa con las escenas que incluyen a personas de la vida real con carteles con mensajes escritos específicamente para esa persona que marcó un antes y un después en sus vidas.
I still have a lump in my throat and I'm dry from crying so much and the worst thing is that it doesn't have a bad ending but neither the one we all expected. It is beautiful from beginning to end, the actors have a very good chemistry, the setting of the film specifically in Beijing, the city that has great significance for the protagonists because it was where they lived their romance is simply spectacular. The way in which the director tells us the story and introduces fragments of the present makes you feel very susceptible to the story. The black and white effect that has a deep meaning in the present day story and the dream that Jianqing manages to fulfill left me devastated at how beautiful and moving it was. When I say you have to watch it until the credits, I mean it, at the end you will be in for a surprise with the scenes that include real life people holding signs with messages written specifically for that person who marked a before and after in their lives.
Fue simplemente una gran casualidad haber visto está película, ya veo por qué tantas personas en letterboxd hablaban acerca de ella y de lo buena que es. Se las recomiendo muchísimo incluso si su tipo de películas no es el género de romance y drama. Está es increíble y tengo que dejar algunas de las frases que me dejaron un vacío en el corazón:
•Ojalá el tiempo se detuviera justo ahora
•Si te hubieras subido al tren me hubiera quedado contigo para siempre
•Al final tenemos todo, pero no el uno al otro
•No esperes a que sea demasiado tarde para decir te quiero
It was just a great coincidence to have seen this movie, I can see why so many people on letterboxd were talking about it and how good it is. I highly recommend it even if your type of movie is not the romance and drama genre. This one is amazing and I have to leave some of the lines that left a hole in my heart:
-I wish time would stop right now.
-If you had gotten on the train I would have stayed with you forever.
-In the end we have everything, but not each other.
-Don't wait until it's too late to say I love you.
