There is a rule that a successful horror movie has sequels and this was fulfilled by Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson in... "Scream 2".
"Scream 2" is about to celebrate the 23rd anniversary of its premiere in theaters, a film that like many others has struggled to be considered better or even to match the success of the first film; For my part, when I saw it for the first time more than 20 years ago I considered it less than the one that made us appreciate this horror genre again and at that time I could not find the way to explain why it was of lesser quality, but when I saw it a long time later I can appreciate it and say that this film does not hide the fact that it is a sequel and as we know many of these films lose quality because they copy what was done in the previous film, but if there is a genre that is not afraid of copying itself those are the horror films, especially the slasher ones and that's why both Williamson and Craven take a great advantage in paying tribute to so many films and their sequels and creating the existence of a copycat who wants to relive what happened two years ago when the first murders took place, this is a great example of the good work done by his scriptwriter, director and main actors to make a good sequel and give continuity to the traumatic life of "Sidney Prescott".

Existe la regla de que una película de horror exitosa tenga secuelas y esta fue cumplida por Wes Craven y Kevin Williamson en... "Scream 2".
"Scream 2" está por cumplir su 23 aniversario del estreno en las salas de cine, un film que como a muchos otros ha tenido que luchar por ser considerada mejor o hasta nivelar el éxito de la primer film; por mi parte cuando la vi por primera vez ya hace más de 20 años la considere menor a la que nos hizo volver apreciar a este género del terror y en ese tiempo no encontraba la forma de explicar porque era de menor calidad, pero al verla mucho tiempo después puedo valorar y decir que esta película no esconde que es una secuela y como sabemos muchas de estas pierden calidad porque copian lo hecho en el anterior film, pero si hay un género que no teme en copiarse a sí mismo esos son los de terror, en especial los slasher y es por eso que tanto Williamson como Craven toman una gran ventaja en volver a homenajear a tantos films y sus secuelas y crear la existencia de un copiador que quiere revivir lo sucedido hace dos años cuando ocurrieron los primeros asesinatos, esto es un gran ejemplo del buen trabajo hecho por su guionista, director y actores principales para hacer una buena secuela y darle continuación a la vida traumática de "Sidney Prescott".
Williamson wrote an excellent story for this sequel, which I think is much better than the previous one. This time we see how they have grown and "overcome" all the deaths that occurred two years before in the town of Woodsboro, each of the survivors of the attacks have continued with their lives, especially Sidney and Randy who are studying at "Windsor College"; Gale Weathers became famous for writing a novel about what happened with the previous murders and this influenced the making of a film called "STAB" and Dwight "Dewey" Riley may be the one who has had more problems to overcome everything that happened living with the consequences of the attack he received, But all this normality will end when a couple killed in the preview of the film based on the Woodsboro murders will make the lives of these survivors feel again the danger of being the next victim of Ghostface.
Williamson para esta secuela escribió una excelente historia la cual creo que es mucho mejor que la anterior, en esta oportunidad vemos como han crecido y "superado" todas las muertes ocurridas dos años antes en el pueblo de Woodsboro, cada uno de los sobrevivientes de los ataques han seguido con sus vidas, en especial Sidney y Randy que estudian en "Windsor College"; Gale Weathers se volvió famosa al escribir una novela con lo sucedido en los anteriores asesinatos y esto influenciaron a realizar un film que recibió el nombre de "STAB"; Dwight "Dewey" Riley puede ser el que más problemas ha tenido para superar todo lo sucedido al vivir con secuelas del ataque que recibió, pero toda esta normalidad terminara cuando una pareja es asesinada en el pre-estreno del film basado en los asesinatos en Woodsboro hará que la vida de estos sobreviviente sientan de nuevo el peligro de poder ser la próxima víctima de Ghostface.
In Scream 2 not only does it have a good story but also good direction from Wes Craven, another thing I liked more than the first one was the great tension and suspense in many of the scenes of the murders, I have always believed that in these films there is a tribute to many other slasher films where we see the pursuit of the killer and his victim and this time it is much clearer and I think it tests the realism of the killer, but that does not stop there being very good scenes, but not perfect because unfortunately in this sequel the scenes of the murders were softened, nothing to do with the scenes of the first part and this for me affected this movie a lot, I think this is my complaint and what at first impression made me feel that it is not better than its predecessor, but there is something that many people will be able to pass unnoticed and that is the changes while filming through the leaks of the script to know who the killer or killers were, I think both Kevin and Wes, had a plan to always have the possibility to change the scenario and keep the killer and his motives secret.
En Scream 2 no solo tiene una buena historia sino una buen dirección por parte de Wes Craven, otra de las cosas que me gustó más que la primera es la gran tensión y suspenso en muchas de las escenas de los asesinatos, siempre he creído que en estos films existe un homenaje a muchos otras películas slashers donde vemos la persecución del asesino y su víctima y esta vez es mucho más claro y creo que pone a prueba el realismo del asesino, pero eso no deja de que haya muy buenas escenas, pero no perfectas porque lamentablemente en esta secuela se suavizo las escenas de los asesinatos, nada que ver con las escenas de la primera parte y esto para mi afectó mucho a esta película, creo que esto es mi queja y lo que a primera impresión me hizo sentir de que no es mejor que su predecesora, pero hay algo que mucha gente podrá pasar desapercibido y eso es los cambios mientras se filmaba por las filtraciones del guion para saber quién era el o los asesinos, creo que tanto Kevin como Wes, tenían un plan para siempre tener la posibilidad de cambiar el escenario y mantener en secreto al asesino y sus motivos.
The performances are good in spite of being a horror film; Neve Campbell as "Sidney Prescott" will always be the one I like the most, because this time we will not see a sweet girl being attacked, this time we will see a Sidney who is looking to rebuild her life in a new place with new friends and when the time comes to face her fears again she will not want to run away anymore; Courteney Cox and David Arquette as "Gale" and "Dewey", are much better than what was seen in the previous one, they have more protagonism and a lot of chemistry between them since at that time they were a couple in real life and that helped a lot in their scenes together, Jamie Kennedy as "Randy" which is another of my favorite characters,I've always felt identified with him, his rules, knowledge, theories, humor, perfect for this type of story and just as the first one in this one shows up again, for me Randy is difficult to copy despite being part of the cliché of the funny character that always exists in this great genre.
Las actuaciones son buenas a pesar de ser un film de terror; Neve Campbell como "Sidney Prescott" siempre será la que más me gusta, porque esta vez no veremos a una dulce chica ser atacada, en esta oportunidad veremos a una Sidney que busca rehacer su vida en un nuevo lugar con nuevos amigos y cuando llega el momento de volver a enfrentar a sus miedos no querrá huir más; Courteney Cox y David Arquette como "Gale" y "Dewey", son mucho mejor de lo que se vio en la anterior, tienen más protagonismo y mucha química entre ellos ya que en ese tiempo eran pareja en la vida real y eso ayudó mucho a sus escenas juntos, Jamie Kennedy como "Randy" que es otro de mis personajes favoritos, siempre me he sentido identificado con él, sus reglas, conocimientos, teorías, humor, perfecto para este tipo de historia y tal como la primera en esta se vuelve a lucir, para mi Randy es difícil de copiar a pesar de que entra en el cliché del personaje humorista que siempre existe en este gran género.
"Scream 2" is an intelligent film, very well written and directed, I think it even has much more humor and even lends itself to giving clues for the revelation of the killer and his motives, personally this is something that perhaps did not call my attention at first and I was always focused on seeing excellent scenes in the deaths and as I said before I think this is a flaw by not being so graphic, but that does not minimize that this is a fun and scary film with a good antagonist and an excellent survivor. I had a great time watching this film again, I really like this genre and this story is one of my favorites, I think that having a real killer without being immortal or appearing to be so is something very important for this story and that it has the ghostly image makes that anyone can be under the mask; I will always recommend this film and the previous one because they come out of the mold of this genre in spite of making a clear homage to many other successful films.
"Scream 2" es un film inteligente, muy bien escrito y dirigido, creo que hasta tiene mucho más humor y hasta se presta a dar pistas para la revelación del asesino y sus motivos, en lo personal esto es algo que tal vez no me llamaba la atención en un primer momento y siempre estaba enfocado en ver excelentes escenas en las muertes y como he dicho anteriormente pienso que esto es una falla al no ser tan gráficas, pero eso no minimiza que este sea una divertida y terrorífica película con un buen antagonista y una excelente sobreviviente. La pase muy bien viendo otra vez este film, me gusta mucho este género y esta historia es una de mis favoritas, creo que al tener un asesino real sin ser inmortal o parecer serlo es algo muy importante para esta historia y que tenga la imagen fantasmagórica hace que cualquiera pueda estar bajo la máscara; siempre recomendare este film y el anterior porque salen del molde de este género a pesar de hacer un claro homenaje a muchas otras exitosas películas.
