El género del thriller criminal ha entregado excelentes historias con mucho suspenso, intriga, tensión y terror; muchas de estas películas dependen explorar el punto de vista del criminal, preferiblemente el de un asesino serial y de quien quiera esclarecer los crímenes, el cual deberá de una manera u otra entrar en la mente de un asesino para tratar de atraparlo; posiblemente ese sea el gran cliché de este género porque es el que más se repita, pero eso no evita que se explore diferentes maneras de relatar una historia en donde habrá factores que influyan en los crímenes.

Se nota la influencia de otros thrillers en dónde las ciudades son protagonistas y para esta historia, en dónde un depredador debe rondar buscando una nueva víctima, era necesario que se muestre cómo la ciudad arropa y brinda oportunidad al asesino; otro aspecto positivo es lo gráfico e impactante de las muertes, cada escena demuestra tensión y terror y eso, este director lo hace de manera formidable.
Posiblemente, la historia sea algo bastante sencilla en relatar; el guion creado por el mismo Ali Abbasi, junto a Afshin Kamran Bahrami cumple con una serie de clichés citados al principio de esta reseña, pero el factor que esta historia se sitúa en Irán es algo que la hace más impactante y eso lo digo por la misoginia que existe ese país; está película funciona como denuncia a ciertas situaciones, primero por los niños derechos a favor de la mujer y otro es por la hipocresía tanto del hombre como la mujer a señalar a quienes ellos indican de ser pecadores cuando todos pueden caer en pecado; lo otro es el esconderse en la religión o en la justicia para cometer crímenes o no mirar en donde ocurre dichos crímenes, eso es lo principal en esta historia en dónde las víctimas tenían todo en contra; este es una historia con terror, suspenso y drama.

Possibly, the story is something quite simple to tell; the script created by the same Ali Abbasi, along with Afshin Kamran Bahrami meets a number of clichés cited at the beginning of this review, but the factor that this story is set in Iran is something that makes it more shocking and I say that because of the misogyny that exists in that country; this film works as a denunciation of certain situations, first for the children rights in favor of women and another is for the hypocrisy of both men and women to point out those who they indicate to be sinners when everyone can fall into sin; the other is to hide in religion or justice to commit crimes or not to look where these crimes occur, that is the main thing in this story where the victims had everything against them; this is a story with terror, suspense and drama.
Como dije anteriormente, los puntos de vista son muy importantes para este film y por eso se debe contar con excelentes actuaciones; la actriz Zar Amir Ebrahimi quien interpreta a "Arezoo Rahimi", tuvo un gran reconocimiento en los festivales en dónde este film tuvo participación, su trabajo es excelente con respecto a su interpretación de una mujer que necesita que haya justicia y se resuelva estos horrendos crímenes; el personaje de "Arezoo" representa seguramente una población Femenina que lamentablemente es minoría y eso lo digo porque es profesional, ejerce el periodismo, pero eso no la libera de ser perseguida, señalada y juzgada por su condición de mujer; su tristeza y como dije anteriormente su necesidad de justicia se nota en cada escena y seguramente, de una manera u otra tuvo que sentirse identificada por el rol que hace en el film. La actuación que más me gustó fue la hecha por Mehdi Bajestani quien interpreta a "Saeed Hanaei"; su interpretación fue excelente, es una persona que no teme en mostrar a ciertas personas su debilidad, sus anhelos que en ese momento se convierten en los motivos de sus crímenes; la lucha por las necesidades y el quiebre mental que va experimentando en el transcurso de la historia es lo mejor del film; es una lástima que no haya obtenido más reconocimiento por su actuación.

The performance I liked the most was the one made by Mehdi Bajestani who plays "Saeed Hanaei"; his interpretation was excellent, he is a person who is not afraid to show certain people his weakness, his longings that at that moment become the motives of his crimes; the struggle for the needs and the mental breakdown he is experiencing in the course of the story is the best of the film; it is a pity that he did not get more recognition for his performance.
Me sorprende que Holy Spider no consiguiera ser parte de los nominados a "Mejor Película Internacional" de los Premios de la Academia de este año, eso evitó que está historia tuviera más impacto y alcance a un público mayor; creo que este tipo de historias que son reales, impactantes y que tocan muchos temas como por ejemplo la misoginia, la injusticia, el no respeto a los derechos humanos, el uso de la religión, el tratamiento a enfermedades mentales, el mal uso del poder, son cosas que cada vez debe ser enseñadas en cualquier vía para que el mundo tenga noción de que ese tipo de cosas suceden no solo en países del Medio Oriente, sino en muchas otras zonas del mundo; esto es lo formidable del film y lo que me ha gustado; su director, guionista y actores, enseñan desde el miedo, el terror, pero también la convicción y la necesidad de hacer justicia, una historia que puede suceder en cualquier lugar y dependiendo de las creencias pueden o no tener un final satisfactorio, pero a la vez no justo. Si quieren ver un excelente thriller, no duden de buscar y ver este film.
