En el servicio de streaming Prime Video, ya se puede disfrutar por completo de la cuarta temporada de la exitosa producción original conocida solamente como "Reacher". Este show de TV está basado en la serie de novelas del mismo nombre, escritas por Lee Child, y que para esta nueva temporada se basaron en la decimotercera novela llamada "Gone Tomorrow" que narra una nueva aventura de Reacher al momento de verse envuelto primeramente en un suicidio que, posterior a su investigación, descubrirá un complot en donde policías, C.I.A., congresistas, mercenarios y demás serán grandes obstáculos para que Reacher pueda impartir justicia.

The fourth season of the hit original series known simply as “Reacher” is now available in its entirety on the Prime Video streaming service. This television series is based on the series of novels of the same name, written by Lee Child, and this new season is based on the thirteenth novel, titled “Gone Tomorrow,” which recounts a new adventure for Reacher when he finds himself, initially in a suicide case that, following his investigation, leads him to uncover a conspiracy in which police officers, the CIA, members of Congress, mercenaries, and others become major obstacles to Reacher’s quest for justice.

Para esta cuarta temporada, se tomaron ciertas libertades con respecto a la ciudad donde ocurre toda acción, así como la nacionalidad de algunos personajes; del resto se mantuvo igual, a nuevamente tener a Reacher como eje principal y rodearlo con personajes que aporten el desarrollo del protagonista y la historia en sí, lo que considero es una de las características a resaltar porque en esta oportunidad, los personajes que acompañan al personaje principal tendrán una relevancia mayor, siendo específicamente los villanos quienes en mi opinión dominen las acciones de los héroes.

For this fourth season, certain liberties were taken regarding the city where the action takes place, as well as the nationalities of some characters; otherwise, everything remained the same, with Reacher once again serving as the central figure and surrounded by characters who contribute to the protagonist’s development and the story itself. I consider this one of the standout features because, this time around, the characters accompanying the main character will play a more significant role—specifically the villains, who, in my opinion, will dominate the heroes’ actions.

La ciudad de Filadelfia se convierte en un protagonista más, en donde sus edificaciones, tanto nuevas como antiguas, así como algunas de sus angostas calles y callejones, se convierten en los escenarios perfectos para las persecuciones y batallas que deben llevar a cabo los personajes; justamente las escenas son múltiples, lo cual hace que esta sea una de las temporadas más excitantes y entretenidas de la serie y para eso se exigía que en esta oportunidad las coreografías fuesen llevadas a cabo de una buena manera y puedo decir que la mayoría fueron muy bien hechas y en eso debo señalar que el actor Alan Ritchson, quien interpreta a Reacher, ha demostrado gran mejoría en ese renglón, lo cual hace aún más convincente a su personaje.

The city of Philadelphia becomes another main character, where its buildings—both new and old—as well as some of its narrow streets and alleys, serve as the perfect settings for the chases and battles the characters must engage in; There are indeed numerous such scenes, making this one of the most exciting and entertaining seasons of the series. This required the fight choreography to be executed well this time around, and I can say that most of it was very well done. In that regard, I must point out that the actor ** Alan Ritchson**, who plays Reacher, has shown great improvement in this area, which makes his character even more convincing.

El tema principal de la temporada posiblemente sea la empatía; ese sentimiento, junto a la necesidad de protección y heroísmo del protagonista, es lo que desencadena toda historia y, al momento de no poder ayudar, seguramente es lo que sigue motivando a Reacher a buscar una conclusión de todo lo que ha vivido desde el comienzo de esta temporada. Al factor o punto de vista de la historia desde la perspectiva del héroe, sumo el punto de vista o motivo de los villanos que, repito, en mi opinión, dictaminan todo lo que deben hacer Reacher y sus amigos para poder detener el caos causado; las constantes y viles acciones de los villanos generan reacción igual; así como Reacher tiene empatía por las víctimas o débiles, créanme que no habrá duda en el momento de ser juez y principalmente ejecutor en contra de quienes intentan hacerle daño. En eso la serie da un paso adelante al ser más gráfica y violenta, alejándose de un formato mucho más televisivo con cierta censura y en esta ocasión aprovechando aún más el formato de streaming donde es estrenada.

The main theme of the season is likely empathy; that feeling, along with the protagonist’s need for protection and heroism, is what sets the entire story in motion, and when he is unable to help, it is surely what continues to motivate Reacher to seek a resolution to everything he has experienced since the beginning of this season. To the story’s narrative perspective from the hero’s point of view, I add the perspective or motivation of the villains who—I repeat, in my opinion—dictate everything Reacher and his friends must do to stop the chaos they’ve caused; the villains’ constant and vile actions provoke an equal reaction; just as Reacher feels empathy for the victims or the weak, believe me, there will be no hesitation when it comes to acting as judge—and, above all, executioner—against those who try to harm him. In this regard, the series takes a step forward by being more graphic and violent, moving away from a more television-oriented format with some censorship and, on this occasion, taking even greater advantage of the streaming platform where it premieres.

Aunque en algunos episodios se consiguen imperfecciones en dirección y, por supuesto, en la actuación de los nuevos personajes, estoy convencido de que todos cumplen con su específico rol, no solo de ser un simple relleno, sino en aportar acciones reales y cumplir con los clichés de este tipo de historia de acción. Me pareció más que genial que la historia se desarrolle en pocos días y hasta pudiera decir que todo sucede en el transcurso de 4 días como mínimo; eso hace que el ritmo sea muy intenso y la acción sea constante, lo cual hace muy entretenida la temporada porque hay pocos momentos para una necesaria pausa para desarrollar la investigación y generar los diferentes giros de la historia, que son en sí una parte muy importante. Y nuevamente hago referencia a los villanos porque esta es la oportunidad en que Reacher se ve en una gran dificultad, lo cual valoro mucho porque, a pesar de que hay momentos de superhéroe, creo que al mostrar vulnerabilidad del personaje es donde lo hace mucho mejor, más creíble, sin importar que ya es un personaje con muy buena aceptación en el género de la acción en los últimos años. Recomiendo esta temporada y las tres anteriores por si no ha tenido la oportunidad de verlas.

Although there are some flaws in the direction and, of course, in the performances of the new characters in certain episodes, I’m convinced that they all fulfill their specific roles—not just as mere filler, but by contributing real action and living up to the clichés of this type of action story. I thought it was absolutely brilliant that the story unfolds over just a few days—I’d even say everything happens over the course of at least four days; that makes the pace very intense and the action nonstop, which makes the season highly entertaining because there are few moments for the necessary pauses needed to develop the investigation and set up the various plot twists, which are themselves a very important part of the story. And once again, I’ll mention the villains because this is the moment when Reacher finds himself in serious trouble—something I really appreciate. Even though there are superhero-like moments, I think showing the character’s vulnerability is what makes him so much better and more believable, regardless of the fact that he’s already become a very popular figure in the action genre in recent years. I recommend this season and the three previous ones in case you haven’t had the chance to watch them.
