Let's talk about the new IT movie , it's one of the first movies (miniseries actually but I use the term movie for convenience) I've seen as a little girl and despite not having to let kids watch horror movies, hororr are not good to kids, I loved that movie and I loved watching it several times. Tim Curry is also a fantastic actor, useless to deny it. he worried us with his scary smile. It was frightening that his being not explicitly frightening.
So I decided to see It, in 2017, that in the cinema now to understand if it's a good movie or n. It is divided into two parts, the first based entirely on the vicissitudes of children, the second on them by adults. Directed by Andres Muschietti.
As you can see in the title, the nightmare does not refer to the fear that the movie should do but the movie itself, in my opinion a failure.
My opinion does not count nothing , of course, but I want to publicly express my disappointment to a movie I had expectations about.
It's hard not to compare with the old movie, I try.
I tell you why I did not like It by Muschietti.
The new It is not scary, too "splatter" in my opinion, does not create the atmosphere of suspense and mystery that makes you shiver, here it's all spotted, bloody and grotesque.
So banged in the face to the spectator to not create a minimum of terror "Oh here's blood again and a guy with dicky chickens, which is so odd, so much to please."
Looks like The walking dead not It.
The clown is bloody in the ways and in the face and nothing clownish at all. No child would approach, they will scream of terror only to see him. You see him being a bad clown, you see him a mile away, and you run way from him.
Characters are too little characterized, if I had not seen the old movie I would not know anything about them and their fears. Their personal stories are marginal and depicted in a vague way.
Characters who say nothing, do not have personality, let us then put a veil of pity on the dialogues, the vulgar and banal kids, to the limit of excessive and definitely unmotivated vulgarity.
Another aspect that has disturbed me, sexualization of the characters, where Bev is a girl who everyone wants to seduce and she is seductive in the ways, inappropriate.
Obviously every man, including Father (and omit the story of the father of Bev, who here only seems to be an old pervert ) wants to go to bed with this "little girl" (I do not think he has found the revolting thing).
I recognize that the current movie is in many respects more faithful to the novel, yet it does not create the same feeling of fear and discomfort of the miniseries of the 1990s.
I'm relying on reading the many positive reviews and are curious about the views on the film.
We "losers" were in the 7th watching it at the cinema and we all came out disappointed.
