Friends, yesterday I watched a lovely story Dog. A wild ride, a mix of drama and comedy where the focus is on the dog and the human is the link to create a solid plot. Channing Tatum is the main character and director, his debut in this aspect, for their part Reid Carolin and Brett Rodríguez are in charge of the story and it can be said that they manage to make a film to be enjoyed by the whole family since it brings refreshing elements to this gender.

The film is about Jackson Briggs (Channing Tatum), a former soldier, and a Belgian Sheepdog, used in the war in Afghanistan to sniff out suspicious items, both suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after their time in the military. He suffers from a brain injury and cannot continue to be active, since his physical and mental condition are not the most ideal for combat, even so he seeks a recommendation from his commander to obtain another position within the militia. To give him a chance, he is assigned the special mission of going on a road trip to transport Lulú, the dog, to the funeral of Riley Rodríguez, who was her trainer in life.

The psychological traumas they have from both Briggs and Lulu represent an intrinsic connection that is accentuated through the long journey which, in turn, symbolizes learning for both. In this case, the ex-soldier is empathetic and understands Lulu's suffering and emotional ravings. From this position, he manages to love her and accept her as his new partner. Many times, we need that support, a person who does not judge us and manages to understand certain situations that we experience. In this way, we will have a friendly hand that gives us lights when the panorama turns dark.

Volviendo a Dog.

In the cast we can find Channing Tatum, Ryder McLaughlin, Aavi Haas and Luke Forbes, all, in my opinion, make good performances, they were convincing in the roles they played. It should be noted that Tatum meets the demands made in the scenes in which he shares the stage with the dog, they were well achieved, even though all the skills he must do to tame her are not exposed, since, from the beginning, she shows herself violent. In the film it can be seen that awareness is nuanced through the gaze, there genuine understanding is distinguished, leaving aside pride and self-centeredness.

During the crossing of the trip we will live many adventures. Lulu is complex, has an unstable behavior, sometimes aggressive, sensitive or disastrous. In the film it is observed that, despite being trained under the military regime, she performs savage actions such as ripping the padding out of the seats with her teeth, attacking a man for the simple fact of looking like a Muslim, and going into the forest to look for dope. She continues with her fighting spirit intact, wherever she goes she moves the combat and the conflict, bridging the gap, she reminds me of my pet Apolo, he is a very difficult animal to care for and love, as I already mentioned in another review, in his desire to be playful and to show affection, bites and destroys everything in his path.

Back to Dog. A wild ride, I consider that the film fails in the narrative vacuum regarding the causes that generated the traumas of Lulu and Jackson. The soldier's brain damage is not detailed or deepened, the specific circumstances that generated it and its consequences are unknown. Even so, it is a film destined to move the audience. Melancholy invaded me when I felt identified through the relationship between a human and his pet.

Goodbyes are difficult and very painful. Jackson regrets giving Lulu back because he knows she won't have a happy ending - she's scheduled to be sacrificed after doing the honors at the funeral ceremony. I had a dog that was very sick, we stayed with him until it was time to leave. Events like these mark life and leave indelible marks on the heart because more than a pet, it is a member of the family.

Dogs are faithful companions that can give a lot of love, a unique sense of well-being, through them strong bonds and lasting relationships can be developed. Having a dog can help individuals recover from trauma, in the case of the film, both are needed to face the overwhelming reality they live. Although, at first it was stressful. Lulu manages to win Jackson's heart until they consolidate an unbreakable bond.

In short, Dog. Wild Ride is more than a movie about a dog, it explores the damage that military service has done to two of its soldiers – the man and his dog. Post-traumatic stress that is capable of paralyzing them to the point of adopting an erratic attitude. Comedy scenes work because they border on the absurd and somewhat simple solutions. After all this, I can say that I enjoyed this movie and I invite you to give it a try.

I had already heard about this movie, I was surprised that the actor made it as a tribute to his pet in real life, it is inspired by his pet. I haven't seen it, but surely it must be emotional, like almost all movies about pets.
