Song review:“Birds” • by Imagine Dragons

Review by @rosmiapure · 4h · of Written by Wolves

I first heard Imagine Dragons at a job I used to have, and back then I didn't appreciate their songs as much as I do now.

I started listening to Imagine Dragons again, and this time it was with one of their songs called “Birds.”

I’m a Spanish speaker, so I first let myself be carried away by the melody of the songs and then look for the version with Spanish subtitles to understand what they’re about. “Birds” didn’t disappoint because both its melody and lyrics are captivating and transport you to a world where you can feel understood.

You can listen to “Birds” when you're sad, when you're in that moment where you don't know how you feel, or even when you're happy or feeling calm—because its melody, despite being a bit melancholic, conveys a sense of “serenity.”

Something I really love is the music video that goes with this song and how it conveys a very important message through animation. And yes, we don’t have wings or those weird things that come out of the boy, but how many times have you felt different from everyone else? Or how many times have you felt like you don’t belong there?

I've listened to “Birds” on several occasions, and sometimes I've listened to it more than once a day, so I can tell you that it's great for those of us who want to learn English—or at least, I've found it really helpful to first listen to the song and then “try to sing along.”

Of course, I don’t sing it with perfect English, but I feel like that way I practice my pronunciation a little, and then I go look up what each word means.

Don't let its melancholic melody fool you—let yourself get hooked instead, because the lyrics are powerful and have a beautiful meaning.

Well, my friend, that's all for today. See you later.
