I can't stop seeing Freddy Mercury when I see the actor Rami Malek. I'm simply entwined with that character in my mind. However, as the film progressed, I gradually faded away, taking on the form of an avenging agent without much experience in killing people.
The character Charlie Heller is a brilliant but introverted CIA codebreaker. His whole life is turned upside down when his wife dies in a terrorist attack in London. The authorities don't seem to be doing anything to catch those responsible for her death. His superiors at the agency refuse to take action, because there are too many interests and they are very important bad guys.
He decides to go find them, but realizes he lacks the necessary skills to do so; he lacks information and preparation. So he blackmails a department within his agency to give him the training and preparation he needs.
Before time runs out, the agency discovers they've been tricked, but the agent, who wants to avenge his wife's death, has obtained the information and materials he needs, and embarks on a plan. He lacks the required physical skill, but he does have the intelligence. It will also require a lot of luck to pull it off. He's never killed anyone; his job has always been as a CIA code-breaker. He's driven by a desire for revenge, but he's an amateur.
He embarks on a dangerous journey around the world to track down those responsible for his wife's murder. He wants to kill them one by one, but he must make them look like accidents, since there are several of them, and if they realize they're being sought, they'll go into hiding. The agent's intelligence will be his best weapon to achieve his revenge, and circumstances seem to help him in the process.
Undoubtedly, without telling you the ending, he makes a masterful conclusion, and it's not at all expected, although they give us details to detect it.
I liked it because it's entertaining, a revenge thriller that shows us that anything can be achieved with determination and intelligence—even becoming a stylish killer.
