Hello hivers, an happy Friday to you all! A new hot weekend is just around the corner and I think me and my hubby will spend the most part of the next 2 days watching some episodes of a comedy detective series we started to watch some weeks ago. Like I wrote before, we love to watch crime series and the first review I wrote here was about the British "Vera". Now I want to talk you about a light-hearted murder series: The Brokenwood Mysteries!

This is a New Zealand tv series started in the 2014 and still in progress. At now there are 12 seasons, the first 6 ones included 4 episodes each one, but from the series 7 were extended to six episodes!
The main character is the Detective Mike Shepherd (played by Neill Rea) and the series start when he is sent from Auckland to the Brokenwood ( a fictional small town) to investigate the death of a farmer. After he solved the mystery in collaboration with the local Detective Kristin Sims (played by Fern Sutherland), Shepherd decides to stay in Brokewood indefinitely. Brokenwood looks like a quiet small town in a countryside where Shepherd, who loves country music and he is the very proud owner of an old car, uses to solve the mysteries with the help of his collegues and the help ( sometimes unaware) of many recurring characters. One of my favorite one is Frankie "Frodo" Oades, who was a mechanic in his first episodes and later the owner of the Frodo's Coffee trailer, a sort of meeting point for people who lives there. He's a very funny characters, not so smart but with a good heart. Another recurring characters I like is Mrs. Jean Marlowe (she was there from the season 2 to the 7) who is a nice friendly old woman who uses to engage in gossip after every murder. At the end, I think there is a similar old woman in every village, an old woman who seems to know everything about anyone, did you know? ^_^ It's common to see recurring characters in the tv series, but in this case happens to see people who was suspects of a murder came back in some of the next episodes in a funny other way. This is a very funny series, perfect to watch during these hot days, believe me.
