> ¿Te ha pasado que después de unas largas vacaciones encuentras que tus familiares te tratan diferente o hay cosas distintas en el ambiente? A mí sí, es una sensación de cambio difícil de explicar, pero gracias a Dios nada de lo que he sentido se compara con lo que le paso a Aitana quien después de pasar tres años alejada de su familia quiso darles una sorpresa y aparecer sin avisar en plena Navidad, además no llegaría sola fue con su pareja una brasilera y su bebé recién adoptado. > > Desde el principio hay elementos en la película fuera de lo convencional que te sacan un poco de tu centro, la protagonista es lesbiana y su pareja es una extranjera información que su familia desconoce y sumado a eso, todos son de piel blanca y ellas llevan a un bebé de raza negra. > > Cuando comencé a ver la película no sabía nada de la historia, ni siquiera de su género, pero a los pocos minutos me di cuenta de que iba a ser intensa con mucho suspenso. > > * * * > >

Sinopsis

> > Una pareja de chicas con su bebe adoptado decide pasar la Navidad con la familia de Aitana, al llegar las reciben con indiferencia y se encuentran que hay una desconocida viviendo con sus padres, quien recibe la atención de todos, duerme en su habitación y usa su ropa. Mientras Aitana intenta entender lo que sucede va descubriendo un turbio secreto que la pone en peligro. > > * * * > > ##

Trama

> > Aitana pensó que la sorpresa sería tomada con alegría, pero se encontró indiferencia y molestia por su llegada a excepción de su hermano que se encuentra en una silla de ruedas con una rara enfermedad. Una vez instalada se da cuenta de que hay una persona desconocida en la casa y que además está ocupando su habitación, ropa y es tratada como si fuera ella misma, pareciera la hija de la familia. Eso es muy extraño. > > Aitana comienza averiguar quien es esta persona porque se está aprovechando de sus padres y descubre parte de su pasado, pero eso parece no importarle a sus padres, ya que justifican todo el amor que le dan porque se ha ocupado de cuidar y darle las medicinas a su hermano el chico en silla de ruedas, el detalle que el joven en vez de mejorar está cada día más enfermo, eso dispara las alarmas y mientras Aitana se expresa su preocupación su familia la pone en una situación muy desesperante porque ante los demás desacreditan lo que dice. > >

> > A medida que la película transcurre la angustia de Aitana la siento por mi cuerpo, me da taquicardia, me cuesta respirar y deseo que todo acabe rápido. 🤣😁. En la película ya es Navidad y con la fecha llegan amigos nuevos de la familia que Aitana no conoce, en la reunión todos se aman y la extraña es ella, fiesta se enciende y mientras el licor hace los suyo las personalidades reales aparecen, allí todo es permitido de una forma grotesca, aparece el desbordamiento sexual, los ritos y la finalidad de todo donde las víctimas pasaron a ser los villanos y viceversa. > > ##

Opinión

> > Es una película que no puedes adivinar su argumento, con giros inesperados que te sorprenden. Posee un buen equilibrio entre el suspenso y el terror, los personajes pasan por un proceso de transformación completa que juega con la suspicacia del espectador, la recomiendo para un público adulto, porque también te pone a reflexionar sobre la posibilidad de que te pueda pasar y qué harías en este caso. Me gustó y la recomiendo. 😉 >

Have you ever found that, after a long holiday, your family treat you differently or there’s something different about the atmosphere? It’s happened to me – it’s a feeling of change that’s hard to explain, but thank goodness nothing I’ve felt comes close to what happened to Aitana, who, after spending three years away from her family, wanted to surprise them by turning up unannounced in the middle of Christmas. What’s more, she didn’t arrive alone: she came with her partner, a Brazilian woman, and their newly adopted baby.

Right from the start, there are unconventional elements in the film that throw you off balance a little: the protagonist is a lesbian and her partner is a foreigner – information her family is unaware of – and on top of that, everyone is white and they’re bringing a Black baby with them.

When I started watching the film, I knew nothing about the story, not even its genre, but within a few minutes I realised it was going to be intense and full of suspense.

Synopsis

A lesbian couple with their adopted baby decide to spend Christmas with Aitana’s family. Upon arrival, they’re met with indifference and discover that a stranger is living with her parents – a woman who receives everyone’s attention, sleeps in Aitana’s room and wears her clothes. As Aitana tries to make sense of what’s happening, she uncovers a dark secret that puts her in danger.

Plot

Aitana thought the surprise would be met with joy, but she was met with indifference and annoyance at her arrival, with the exception of her brother, who is in a wheelchair with a rare illness. Once settled in, she realises there is a stranger in the house who is also occupying her room and wearing her clothes, and is treated as if she were Aitana herself – as if she were the family’s own daughter. That’s very strange.

Aitana begins to investigate who this person is because they are taking advantage of her parents, and she uncovers part of their past; however, this does not seem to matter to her parents, as they justify all the love they show her by pointing out that she has been looking after her brother—the boy in the wheelchair—and giving him his medication. The fact that, rather than getting better, the young man is growing sicker by the day which sets off alarm bells. Whilst Aitana voices her concerns, her family puts her in a very distressing situation because, in front of others, they dismiss what she says.

As the film progresses, I feel Aitana’s anguish coursing through my body; my heart races, I find it hard to breathe, and I just want it all to be over quickly. 🤣😁. In the film, it’s already Christmas, and with the season come new friends of the family whom Aitana doesn’t know. At the gathering, everyone gets on well with each other, and she’s the odd one out. The party gets into full swing, and as the alcohol takes its toll, people’s true personalities emerge; there, everything is permitted in a grotesque way, with sexual excess, rituals and the ultimate reversal of roles, where the victims become the villains and vice versa.

Review

It’s a film where you can’t predict the plot, with unexpected twists that take you by surprise. It strikes a good balance between suspense and horror; the characters undergo a complete transformation that plays on the viewer’s suspicion. I’d recommend it for an adult audience, as it also makes you reflect on the possibility that this could happen to you and what you’d do in such a situation. I enjoyed it and would recommend it. 😉
