Hello friends I hope you are all super well, I had not posted because I was a little indisposed health, as I got a cold which led me to be several days in bed with rest and recovering. And as in those days of ill health I was watching the movie that I bring you today, as it is a tape that I love, because it is about health, I talk about John Q.
JHON Q.
This is a movie starring Denzel Washington one of my favorite actors, made in 2002, which talks about health and how the health system in the United States and not only in this country but in many, health is private, basically if you do not have money you are not attended in a hospital, a matter that leads to bring many negative things in many people, and especially to happen things like what we see in the film where parents are able to do everything for a child, going through his own life.
Plot: The story follows the life of "John Quincy Archibald" and his family, his wife and his son, who is a baseball player, one day the boy faints and when he enters the hospital they tell him that his heart is too big and he needs a heart transplant to live, this leads his father to do everything possible to get the money to put the child on the waiting list of the donor, and to pay all the hospital expenses of his son. At one point, as a middle class family, out of work and having spent all their insurance and sold everything they had, he is told that they cannot put his son on the waiting list for a heart, and this leads him to the extreme of the situation, and he manages to hijack the hospital with several nurses and patients inside the emergency room and a cardiovascular doctor who is the one treating his son. John ends up becoming a hero for his son and for the patients he is holding hostage because they all come to his aid in time because they understand his situation, he also becomes a symbol of protest against the health care system of the country.

"Denzel Washington" who plays John Quincy Archibald. "Daniel E. Smith" who plays John's son, "James Woods" who plays Dr. Raymond Turner, "Robert Duvall" who plays the cop Frank Grimes, other well known actors are "Eddie Griffin", "Anne Heche", "Ray Liotta", "Kimberly Elise", who also have an important role in the film, all of them give first class and impeccable performances. Denzel Washington won a Screen Actors Guild Award for his performance in the film.
Release date: Jhon Q was released in 2002 on February 15 and spent about $36 million approximately and being a success at the box office as it was able to collect $102 million worldwide. A total success.
Director: The director of the film is "Nick Cassavetes" who has also done works such as the film "The Notebook" in JHON Q, wanted to express his disagreement with the American health care system and the social economic inequality that exists, telling the story of this character Jhon Q, who fights to save the life of his son against an entire system. These are delicate issues and the director knew how to express it in this film, which is and still is a social protest.
Producer: The producer of the film is "Mark Burg" who is a renowned film producer, who has worked on films such as The Butterfly Effect and the saga of the successful "SAW" which today is a cultural phenomenon, also made successful series such as "Two and a Half Men", in John Q did a phenomenal job making the film a total success.
Screenwriter: The screenwriter of the movie was "James Kearns" who has done several scripts for productions such as "The Mighty Duck", in Jhon Q he made a super emotional and touching script, touching the feelings of all the viewers, he also tackles the social issues related to the medical system of the country. Creating a script of protest against a whole system. His script was key to the success of the film.
Soundtrack: The music of the movie is composed by Aaron Zigman a great musician of film music, from the soundtrack stand out themes like "John Q Theme and Hospital Montage", the musician did an excellent job making the music of each scene that transmits you emotion and feeling in all its splendor, it moves our soul and moves us, makes us cry, each scene and the music is the culprit of that. Great job.
Visual effects: The movie does not contain many visual effects specifically in several exact scenes only as they are the part where they extract the donor heart and then when they put it to the child, there are other scenes that have effects but not of great effect, since the film focuses more on the plot, the story and the development of each character. This means that the movie did not require great visual effects.
Fun fact: A curious and at the same time very kind fact is that when they were filming the movie, the main act denzel Washington, made a donation to several institutions that help children with heart problems, all this money was part of what the actor earned for the movie.
Based on: The movie is not based on any true story, but the script if written based on the different stories of the lives of patients and their families who struggle with a privatized health care system in the United States, equally social and economic and ethical problems that people have daily, from there comes the script although the story is fictional does not cease to be real what they expose in the film plot.
Critics: The critics were mixed in the public and specialized critics, the performance of Delzel Washington stands out since they made a great interpretation, the film talks about social issues, and especially the health system, the film is a protest totally, although it was not a commercial success, it had a good success at the box office and over time has become a drama film very acclaimed for its history.
Opinion: In my opinion the movie is excellent, all the actors do a great job, the role of Denzel is masterful, and leads us to think and reflect, that if we went through that situation that we would save the life of a child or a family member, what extreme things we could do, Also that reflection for the governments not only in the USA, but around the world since many countries health is privatized and people with few resources are the most vulnerable, denying medical care for lack of money, making it clear that it is more important that money than human life, wow is a topic for debate and reflection.
Conclusion: To conclude the film leaves us a reflection on the economic system and especially the health system, it leaves us the reflection of how a father can do everything in his power to save the life of his son, we have to reflect on that. It also addresses the socio-economic and social issue of the lower and middle class, and not only in one country, but in all countries that have this private health care system. We must be aware that health should be free and governments are the ones who have the right to preserve hospitals and their proper functioning, so it should be, so the film is a clear protest against this type of health system. Reflection on the subject as it is still happening today. And parents and relatives in an extreme situation are capable of doing everything to save the life of a loved one.
