When it comes to TV shows and movies, two genres get me going; Documentaries and True Life. You know, an adaptation of real-life situations and all. When I see this type of show, I always end up google searching and trying to get more information; learn a bit of history. This genre of TV tries to educate and bring attention to history or real-life issues

Blue story is about two young boys who have been friends from a very young age till their things but a from two different backgrounds and communities. As much as they are both close friends, the sharp contrast between their local communities is evident as the two places are both at way. Eventually, these two fellas join the war and are both left to brood over their long childhood friendship. It did not end well.

The movie was released back in 2019 but only became available on Netflix late last year. The Movie stars Stephen Odubola who plays Timmy and Micheal Ward who plays Marco. They both friends. The movie also has some big names, for example Eric Kofi-Abrefa who plays Switcher, Marco's brother. The movie was written and directed by Andre Onwubolu, a U.K youtube star popularly known as RAPMAN. He grew up in the same city the movie was telling a story about, so it's more of a personal experience.

I think we all in our different countries have heard of or experienced different levels of violence and gang-related crimes. Personally for me, I have had first hand experience. This movie depicts the senseless killing of youts over the most trivial thing; POSTCODES. The movie depicts the pain and anguishes the parents suffer and how these young people destroy their lives either by being incarcerated or incapacitated or end up dead.

Why BLUE STORY?

You might be wondering why I am actually talking about his story and why you should see it. Well, there are a lot of reasons why you should. Some notable features of the movie include:
  • The real-life footage used in the movie. This is one thing the director does well. It also goes to show you how critical and serious gang violence is in the UK.

  • The director is a rapper, and all through the movie, he was telling the viewers the story by rapping about it. I particularly enjoyed those detours.

  • The movie is about crime and violence but you would get emotional at some point. Maybe this was a work of the writer's imagination, but he does well to make the movie more dramatic and enjoyable.

After seeing this movie, I was really sad and devasted. It worried me. After looking up more details about everything, a lot of names of 12-year-olds, and 15-year-olds, lost their lives either through direct involvement or by being an unfortunate bystanders. You would get wowed after seeing this one.

Saludos.
