► What you loved about it

The acting perfoamnces are brilliant but the thing that is sharp as a knife is the script. The soucre material was from a Steven King book and they really turned it into something which just worked. It is both gripping and intriguing throughout and the story unfolds in a masterful way which a great score, script and key perfomances. How could you not love this film?

► What part of it did you find most interesting.

The look at inncoence and isolation as well as the films take on incarceration is a fascinating drama and insight into prison life. Was Andy guilty? This leaves us with quite an exestential question about judgement and the justice system. His dignity throughout the film and the way it is played by Tim Robbins is a brilliant character study and holds your interest all the way through.

► Any scene that still pops into your mind.

There are lots of scenes in this film that stand out. The one that really stands out to me is the one where he plays some opera to the whole prision. Music that is so powerful that it stops everything and gives the every member of the prision time to reflect and have a rare moment of peace and freedom. We wish our music could do this....

► Performance of the actors/actress that left an impression.

Well Morgan freeman is genius in this film as is his voice over. Not bad from a white, red haired character.....The perfomances of all the cast are excellent. However Clancey Brown is allways a good watch and is great in this scene in particular!

► Why do you think it's significant and great.

This is defining film of the prison genre. Does it get better? All I know is that through out the film we were right there with Andy and when he finaly broke free for that moment we were free from our lives too.

Rating 10 out of 10 SUB masks

Now go watch it or listen to it!
