Hello to all movie lovers! Going through my files, I came across a film that my brother had given me a few years ago and that he had recommended to me after I showed him "The Suicide Club", a cult Japanese film that could be classified as psychological horror. The film that I will talk about on this occasion is a sequel to the aforementioned film, but after seeing it, I think it can be seen independently, since it would be about more than the origins of the club, something else. bizarre, but equally attractive.
In the Circle of suicide, they narrate the events that occurred to the members of this club, who after entering, decide to attempt against their own life. The sequel takes place a bit earlier, when the circle was not out loud. It all starts with Noriko, a 17-year-old girl who lives peacefully with her parents and younger sister in Tokoyama. But she is fed up with her life, she wants to go out, meet people, stumble, learn, fall in love... she makes us understand that in that town, she is unable to fulfill her desires, which makes her life empty and without sense. Even with her withdrawn and somewhat clumsy character, the young Noriko strives not to suffocate between conformism. She even joins her school's newspaper club, in an act of rebellion, since although her father is a reporter who tries to raise the town where she lives, Noriko wants her news in the newspaper to be more anarchist.
One of the obsessions that the girl manages to develop is to navigate a website called "Haikyo.com", in it, Noriko manages to get along with some girls from Tokyo, who soon become her only friends. With them she can talk all the time and be "herself", although under the nickname "Mitsuko", eventually coming to feel more identified with that name and with the reality she finds in her virtual conversations. That's when Noriko decides she wants to go to Tokyo and meet her friends online. Only when he commented to his father, telling him that when he graduated, he wanted to apply for a university in Tokyo, the man refused, giving him as a reason that he would only find perdition in the capital. But Noriko is so determined that her father's words fail to reach her, she is lost in her thoughts as she always does. And when, in the middle of the conversation, a sudden blackout leaves the house without light, the girl has an impulse to go to her room, collect the most essential things and escape from home... This is how Noriko begins the story.
Totally terrified, the girl travels to Tokyo and after entering a cyber cafe, enters the website to tell Ueno Station 54, one of her virtual friends and forum moderators, that she finally took the courage and she went to the capital, to which Ueno tells her to see each other... except that meeting her dear friend at first seemed like something wonderful, until she inadvertently ends up inside an organization that offers the services of "rental families." ", something quite strange at first hand, but which becomes more and more confusing when its own members and clients go into their roles to such an extent that they are unable to differentiate between reality and fiction.
On the other hand, Yuka, Noriko's younger sister, after her sister's escape, begins to get deeper and deeper into the other's thoughts, spotting the signs and trying to discover their reasons. Following her in her footsteps, soon after. Not before leaving some clues to his father, knowing that the man would do everything possible to find them.
Tetsuzo, Noriko and Yuka's father, a local newspaper worker, was unaware of his daughters' feelings and thoughts, believing that they were both happy like him in that town, while he worked hard at his job . The hard blow he receives when both girls disappear without a trace or reason, is what makes his world collapse and he begins to carry out an arduous investigation with his wife, to find the whereabouts of Noriko and Yuka.
It is a quite attractive and different film, since each character tells us from their perspective everything they experience, everything they think and feel, that makes it more personal and allows the viewer to become more and more intrigued by their future actions. Without a doubt, in almost three hours, I was able to enjoy the film without getting bored or feeling that I was cramming myself with information, since everything is narrated in a fairly fluid way, although addressing psychological issues that you will inevitably end up having certain questions once you have finished it. seen or at least, that happened to me. Without a doubt, I highly recommend it, this type of genre that makes me wander has become my favorites.
I leave the trailer of the film below:
