This movie is a Danish crime drama based on a novel of which the name isn't known to me. It's a cliffhanger with quite an unpredictable and fascinating story line about love, jealousy, hatred and sacrifice very much full of suspense.

Initially released on 26th August 2022, directed by Barbara Topsoe-Rothenborg with the cast of Dar Salim as Christian and Sonja Richter as Leonora this film runs for an hour 44min.

Synopsis:

A Danish drama told by a police officer to his daughter on her wedding day of a crime he was unable to solve due to lack of good evidence using the flashback narrative technique.

It all began when a Christian got a text from his mistress quite early in the morning which indeed made his wife suspect him of cheating on her. After some investigation, Leonora Christian's wife figured he was indeed cheating on her with his coworker. She gets upset and asks him to cut ties with the girl or leave the house for her and her son.

Christian is unable to cut ties with his mistress as he claims to love her more than he has ever loved anyone. After a lot of argument with his wife, she pushes him out of the house and threatens to report him to the police over a financial crime he had committed some time before, she makes him use her car and takes his own as it was more expensive and good-looking then her's. Christian gets upset and determines to get rid of her(Leonora).

He plans his way of killing her very smoothly which was to run her over with a car while she was out running, unknown to him that she had changed her route and didn't take the usual route he knew. Coincidentally, there was a lady dressed in the same sweat suits as Leonora that day and he ran over her twice. Leonora gets home later that night and when he sees her, he shudders and guilt overcomes him.

When everything unveiled slowly, Leonora discovers she was supposed to be the one he ran over so to shut her up from turning him over to the police, she asks him to murder his mistress just the same way he wanted to murder her and that way she'll be his team mate and cover up for him. He agrees to it but on getting to his mistress' he couldn't do it but Leonora broke into the lady's apartment and murders her while she was in the bathroom. Christian is heartbroken but vulnerable and can't say anything as he already has his own crime and couldn't stand going to jail.

They put the lady's body among sticks which they had put up for a bonfire to celebrate their son on his graduation and burn it alongside while the police who had gone in search of the body watched them from afar unable to do anything as they got no real evidence to use in turning them in.

The couple sell their house and relocate to somewhere else unknown to anyone.

My opinion:

A very nice film indeed though my first time seeing the characters on screen, they took their roles seriously and fit well into their characters. Though originally produced with Danish as the language spoken, Netflix had a way of giving an English subtitle which made it a lot simpler to understand. The film provides a lot of twists and turns. I had no real idea of how it was gonna end. I was indeed shocked that Leonora and Christian got away with their crimes. I'd recommend this one to the fans of psychological drama. The cast was also quite impressive.

Have a nice one y'all!

Not every movie should end as expected. Normally everyone would expect them to get caught. I like the twist. Thanks for sharing❤️, I’m definitely going to see this movie 🍿
