  1. LOVING ADULTS | MOVIE REVIEW@josehany945d

Today I saw a movie that entertained me because I wanted to know how everything was going to end and it really wasn't what I thought, halfway through the movie I was a little surprised and I liked that effect. I'm going to be quite precise with the review because I don't want to be telling everything.

The movie is called Loving Adults and it is of Danish origin... The point with all this is that it is not really about love or well, it is not the romantic love that I thought I would see but nowhere.

I wouldn't know how to describe this movie or what classification to put it in: drama, crime, thriller? All of the above. To give you a little insight, I'm going to tell you the synopsis: It is the story of a couple that becomes something twisted or toxic, this happens when the woman discovers an affair of her husband. You might say the typical movie, yes friends, but it gets really crazy.

Throughout the film we see a little of the story of this Danish couple told through a detective, at first we see what a normal marriage is like but we also notice the man's fatigue and later they show us that he is having a love affair, as I said a paragraph above, the woman discovers it, but tries to threaten him and as a result of all this, both bring out the worst in each other.

In this film there is a lot of mystery, but there are also crimes, the ending was not complete and it is something that I would not know if you were going to expect it or not. The truth is that the world is a dangerous place and we must always be careful of the people we surround ourselves with because even our partner can have well-buried secrets and we must also think very carefully before doing things, the decisions we make or the sacrifices we think we are doing, unfortunately in this film everything ended up quite murky and to think that couples will really exist like this.

I hope I have fulfilled my mission of leaving you intrigued because I tried not to tell the story to see if you dare to watch it, it is on Netflix. You will probably be entertained or bored.

The story is about a couple who have been married for many years, they had a son but he has suffered an illness which has cost him long years of dedication from Leonora, Christian has a younger lover who wants him to leave his wife to marry her. What will Christian do when his wife does not want to give him a divorce? What will Leonora be able to do to keep her family?

Let's talk about that the story is like in past tense, since it has a narrator who is the detective of the case, I mean that in itself does not matter much in the story although I thought it would be more important. This lasts approximately 1:45 minutes which from the first moment we are presented with the conflicts of the couple and how that family no longer works, it shows us Christian with his lover and also how this is discovered. I can say that the first 45 minutes are very boring, I don't see anything relevant, just a man who doesn't know how to ask his wife for a divorce, but when the sanity and the hidden secrets come to light is when it gets interesting.

Let's talk about the couple themselves who are the ones who have more personality development, ok I want to focus on Leonor, at first sight I felt sorry for her because she was a woman who according to the story does not show that she gave her life to her family and her son, she was a musician and left her career which must hurt because I understand that it was what she was passionate about and then the only thing she has had to say is her family and that her husband came to want to leave her for a younger girl affected her, It should be said that his desperation was reflected with minimal gestures as was the fact of forgiving him for the infidelity if he left the woman then we see other gestures that were threats, as a form of protection or retention towards her husband, on the other hand we have Christian who had made some scams to have the wealth he had, then for not wanting to go to jail and wanted to leave his wife he loses his head. I understand that he no longer loved her and that he wanted to be with someone else but when you hurt someone and he is so shameless that as Leonor herself said he c++++ her lover at a party where she was, I mean my god even it hurt me. We see how he is a soft person in a way and because of the loss of reason he ended up even more in his wife's web ending up in something he really didn't want to do.

Everything gets very interesting after seeing how Christian's attack ended, which ended in disgrace because someone innocent ended up dead. That's when honestly he makes me angry but then I feel sorry for him, because we can see the worst psychopathic side of Leonor, because she is a madwoman. Someone really good to commit a murder because she thinks like someone like that, I was very surprised by her intelligence and conviction so much as to deceive the police, the ending was neither open nor closed but if the screenwriters propose it they can make another movie, I really liked its closure was something that I did not expect and with which I am very happy, because it gave me what I like and that is drama. I give this movie an 8.50/10.

  3. Loving adults(2022): the thin line between love and hatred.@teknon1388d

    images.jpeg

This movie is a Danish crime drama based on a novel of which the name isn't known to me. It's a cliffhanger with quite an unpredictable and fascinating story line about love, jealousy, hatred and sacrifice very much full of suspense.

Initially released on 26th August 2022, directed by Barbara Topsoe-Rothenborg with the cast of Dar Salim as Christian and Sonja Richter as Leonora this film runs for an hour 44min.

    Synopsis:

A Danish drama told by a police officer to his daughter on her wedding day of a crime he was unable to solve due to lack of good evidence using the flashback narrative technique.

It all began when a Christian got a text from his mistress quite early in the morning which indeed made his wife suspect him of cheating on her. After some investigation, Leonora Christian's wife figured he was indeed cheating on her with his coworker. She gets upset and asks him to cut ties with the girl or leave the house for her and her son.

Christian is unable to cut ties with his mistress as he claims to love her more than he has ever loved anyone. After a lot of argument with his wife, she pushes him out of the house and threatens to report him to the police over a financial crime he had committed some time before, she makes him use her car and takes his own as it was more expensive and good-looking then her's. Christian gets upset and determines to get rid of her(Leonora).

He plans his way of killing her very smoothly which was to run her over with a car while she was out running, unknown to him that she had changed her route and didn't take the usual route he knew. Coincidentally, there was a lady dressed in the same sweat suits as Leonora that day and he ran over her twice. Leonora gets home later that night and when he sees her, he shudders and guilt overcomes him.

When everything unveiled slowly, Leonora discovers she was supposed to be the one he ran over so to shut her up from turning him over to the police, she asks him to murder his mistress just the same way he wanted to murder her and that way she'll be his team mate and cover up for him. He agrees to it but on getting to his mistress' he couldn't do it but Leonora broke into the lady's apartment and murders her while she was in the bathroom. Christian is heartbroken but vulnerable and can't say anything as he already has his own crime and couldn't stand going to jail.

They put the lady's body among sticks which they had put up for a bonfire to celebrate their son on his graduation and burn it alongside while the police who had gone in search of the body watched them from afar unable to do anything as they got no real evidence to use in turning them in.

The couple sell their house and relocate to somewhere else unknown to anyone.

    My opinion:

A very nice film indeed though my first time seeing the characters on screen, they took their roles seriously and fit well into their characters. Though originally produced with Danish as the language spoken, Netflix had a way of giving an English subtitle which made it a lot simpler to understand. The film provides a lot of twists and turns. I had no real idea of how it was gonna end. I was indeed shocked that Leonora and Christian got away with their crimes. I'd recommend this one to the fans of psychological drama. The cast was also quite impressive.

    Have a nice one y'all!
