A few days ago I talked about Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, an anime whose ending leaves us with a bittersweet taste... and to erase that sadness, I'll talk about this anime that I watched a while ago, and I imagine many have seen it since it was very popular around 2018.
This anime (now finished) has 24 episodes; as I mentioned before, it aired in 2018. The genres this anime covers are: mecha, science fiction, drama, and romance.

SYNOPSIS / SUMMARY:
Darling in the Franxx is an anime series set in a devastated future where humanity's only defense against klaxosaur monsters are children who pilot robots known as Franxx.
Hiro is a new recruit who, just before his classmates' initiation ceremony, meets a mysterious young woman with horns, who doesn't care about his reputation. After piloting a Franxx and not remembering it, Hiro decides to move into the Parasite residence.
ZERO TWO AND HIRO - THEIR CONNECTION AND WHAT THEY REPRESENT TOGETHER:
Many people have seen the anime or are unfamiliar with Zero Two, the "waifu" of many due to her appearance. Here, I'll tell you a little about her... Her attitude at the beginning of the anime demonstrates a rebelliousness with an aura somewhere between danger and mystery; we see how she takes to "using" her companions to drive the Franxx, without caring about them to the point that the co-pilots didn't survive after flying with her.
However, when we meet Hiro, we understand that he has lost his purpose and is without direction, since he did not achieve his goal of being able to successfully pilot a Franxx. In the first chapter, we see that he is about to retire with his partner, while the rest of his companions who did pass were at their ceremony... but he could not retire successfully, since the klaxosaurs appeared, interrupting all proceedings... including the ceremony.
Due to plot circumstances, Zero Two and Hiro briefly cross paths, and she fails when trying to pilot it with her partner. Hiro decides to take the initiative and go with her (proving himself capable of saving the others). They successfully defeat the beast, implying that Hiro does have the skill to stay and continue his training.
From this connection, we see both protagonists begin to improve their personalities. Zero Two goes from being "mysterious" to a super-caring person, and Hiro, from a person full of insecurity, grows and transforms into a person who takes risks and is willing to sacrifice everything.
However, it's not as linear a story as it seems. As the plot progresses, we can observe certain "visions" or significant things that actually happened in the past. These protagonists knew each other since they were children. Zero Two, considered a "monster," feeling lonely, meets Hiro, a boy who shows her a certain sweetness, affection, and a very nice moment to remember is where he heals the wound she had on her knee.
This couple maintains a very strong connection due to their deep bond. It represents eternal love, as this union transcends time, memory, and, above all, life.
CONTEXT AND LIFESTYLE:
In this anime, we don't see a realistic world. Here, humanity lives under a very rigid and controlled system. Adults are called "plantations." They have no feelings and don't reproduce, just living their lives without any purpose. Children, on the other hand (especially our secondary characters who will accompany our protagonists in the same squadron) are raised and trained to be pilots of these Franxx. From a young age, they are trained without any freedom and have no names (they are only called by code, until Hiro gives each one a "name").
Each person trained to be a pilot is called a "parasite," since adults and higher-ups don't see them beyond their usefulness as pilots. In these cases, each Parasite is a disposable being; once they fail or are no longer useful, they lose their purpose.
The companions who are in the same squadron as Hiro are made up of characters who, in some way, represent the curiosity or "facets" of adolescence. This happens because, by being in a framework structured solely for training, they are unable to have the freedom a person needs to experience and learn not only about life, but about the environment itself.
We see responsible leaders, capable of questioning authority to a certain extent and desiring something more than obeying orders, willing to explore desire and form bonds that go beyond limits (including motherhood), something that forming a family is completely prohibited in this world.
THE ENDING:
Although this anime was widely discussed when it came out, some say that the sci-fi ending, involving sacrifice and reincarnation itself, didn't allow them to "digest" it all because it was so unexpected... for me, it was a very symbolic closure for both characters, showing that, beyond the struggles and tragedies Hiro and Zero Two had to endure, they managed to find each other later on...
DETAILS I LIKED AND WANT TO HIGHLIGHT, AND WHAT COULD BE IMPROVED:
It maintains very good animation, perfectly combining the aesthetics and striking design of the anime, creating very colorful scenarios. The battles are great, even the visuals of each character are very striking (although at times the fanservice is noticeable... but I can't complain about that).
I really like that the anime portrays a romance that doesn't simply come from meeting and falling in love, but rather from a deeper bond, where it talks about self-acceptance and how willing people are to sacrifice themselves for each other. It gives it a unique and very tender touch, in my opinion.
Despite being a mecha/robot and action anime, this anime touches on some deep themes that draw you into the plot, such as identity and one's purpose, social control and lack of freedom, and the desire to love and feel loved in the face of adversity.
The plot hooks you quickly (even from the first episode). It's so powerful that it invites you to continue with the story.
I really like those animes that go beyond the superficial and talk a little more about the supporting characters. Here, each one is given their own identity, as I mentioned earlier. (One of my favorite scenes is when Kokoro has her daughter. I find it very sweet because none of the kids knew what to do in that situation, since it was something new.)
In other words... I highly recommend this anime not only for the action plot, but also for its beautiful story of love, friendship, and the discovery of each character. It's an anime that captivates and entertains you, and it's completely worth it.

Hace unos días hablé de Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, un anime que el final nos deja con un sabor agridulce... y para quitar esa tristeza hablaré de este anime que vi hace un tiempo y me imagino que muchos lo han visto ya que fue muy conocido alrededor del 2018.
Este anime (Ya finalizado) cuenta con 24 capítulos, como mencioné anteriormente fue emitido en 2018. Los géneros que maneja este anime son: Mecha, ciencia ficción, drama y romance.

SINOPSIS / RESUMEN:
Darling in the Franxx es una serie anime que se ambienta en un futuro devastado donde la única defensa de la humanidad contra monstruos klaxosaurios son unos niños que pilotan unos robots conocidos como Franxx.
Hiro es un nuevo recluta que justo antes de la ceremonia de inicio de sus compañeros, conoce a una misteriosa joven con cuernos, a la que su reputación le da igual. Después de pilotar un Franxx y no recordar hacerlo, Hiro decide mudarse a la residencia de los Parasite.
ZERO TWO Y HIRO - SU CONEXIÓN Y LO QUE REPRESENTAN JUNTOS:
Mucha gente se haya visto el anime o no conocen a Zero Two, la "waifu" de muchos por su apariencia y aquí te contaré un poco de ella... Su actitud al inicio del anime demuestra una rebeldía con un aura entre peligro y misterio; observamos como la toman de "utilizar" a sus compañeros para conducir los Franxx, sin preocuparse por ellos a tal punto de que los copilotos no sobrevivían después de pilotar con ella.
En cambio, cuando conocemos a Hiro entendemos que perdió su propósito y se encuentra sin rumbo, ya que no cumplió su objetivo de poder pilotar un Franxx con éxito. En el primer capítulo observamos que está a punto de retirarse con su compañera, mientras que el resto de sus compañeros que si aprobaron se encontraban en su ceremonia... pero no pudo retirarse con éxito, ya que aparecieron los klaxosaurios, interrumpiendo todo acto... incluyendo la ceremonia.
Por circunstancias de la trama, por un momento se cruza Zero Two y Hiro, el cual ella falla al intentar pilotar con su compañero, así que Hiro decide tomar la iniciativa de ir con ella (Demostrándose capaz para salvar a los demás). Exitosamente logran derrotar a la bestia, dando a entender que Hiro si cuenta con la destreza de quedarse para continuar su entrenamiento.
Desde esta conexión, observamos que ambos protagonistas empiezan a mejorar su forma de ser, Zero Two pasa de ser "misteriosa" a ser una persona super cariñosa. y Hiro como una persona llena de inseguridad, crece y se transforma en una persona que asume los riesgos y es capaz de sacrificar todo.
Sin embargo no es una historia lineal como parece, mientras avanza la trama podemos observar ciertas "visiones" o cosas significativas que realmente sucedieron en el pasado. Estos protagonistas se conocían desde niños, Zero Two siendo considerada "monstruo", sintiéndose solitaria conoce a Hiro, un niño que le demuestra cierta dulzura, le muestra afecto y un momento muy lindo para recordar es donde este le cura la herida que tenía en la rodilla.
Esta pareja mantiene una conexión muy fuerte debido al vínculo profundo que tienen ambos. A tal punto de representar el amor eterno, como esta unión trasciende en el tiempo, la memoria y sobre todo, la vida.
CONTEXTO Y ESTILO DE VIDA:
En este anime no observamos un mundo realista, aquí la humanidad vive bajo un sistema muy rígido y controlado, los adultos se llaman "plantaciones", no tienen sentimiento alguno y tampoco se reproducen, solo cumplen su vida sin propósito alguno. En cambio los niños (Sobre todo nuestros personajes secundarios que acompañarán a nuestros protagonistas en la misma escuadra) son criados y entrenados para ser pilotos de estos franxx, desde pequeños son preparados sin libertad alguna, no tienen nombres (Solo son llamados por código hasta Hiro les brinda un "nombre" a cada uno).
Cada persona que es entrenada para ser piloto se denomina "parásitos", ya que los adultos y los altos mandos no los ven más allá de la utilidad para pilotar... en estos casos cada Parásito es un ser desechable, una vez que falla o deja de ser útil, pierde el propósito de su existencia.
Los compañeros que están en la misma Escuadra de Hiro, se encuentra formada por personajes que representan de cierta forma la curiosidad o "facetas" de la adolescencia. Esto sucede ya que al encontrarse en un margen estructurado únicamente para el entrenamiento, no son capaces de tener la libertad que una persona necesita para experimentar y conocer no solo de la vida, sino del entorno mismo.
Observamos a líderes responsables, capaz de cuestionar hasta cierto punto la autoridad y desear algo más que obedecer órdenes, dispuestos a explorar el deseo y formar vínculos sobrepasando los límites (Incluyendo la maternidad) cosa que el formar una familia está completamente prohibido en este mundo.
EL FINAL:
Si bien este anime cuando salió, hubo mucha discusión por el final que tiene, algunos dicen que el desenlace que tiene ciencia ficción, sacrificio o la reencarnación en si, no les permitió "digerir" todo eso por lo inesperado que fue... para mi fue un cierre muy simbólico para ambos personajes, demostrando que más allá de las luchas y tragedias que tuvieron que atravesar Hiro y Zero Two lograron encontrarse más adelante...
DETALLES QUE ME GUSTARON Y QUIERO DESTACAR Y QUE COSAS PUDO MEJORAR:
Mantiene una animación muy buena, combina perfectamente la estética y el diseño llamativo del anime dando escenarios muy coloridos, las batallas son estupendas, incluso la visual de cada personaje llama mucho la atención (Aunque por momentos se nota el fanservice... pero de eso no hay quejas).
Me agrada mucho que el anime maneje un romance que no viene simplemente que se conocieron y se enamoraron, sino que viene de un vínculo más profundo, donde habla de la aceptación de uno mismo y lo dispuestos que se pueden encontrar a tal punto de sacrificarse por el otro, le da como que un toque único y muy tierno a mi parecer.
A pesar de ser un anime de Mecha / Robots y acción; este anime toca algunos temas profundos que te adentran a la trama, como la identidad y el propósito de uno mismo, el control social y la falta de libertar, y el deseo de amar y sentirse amado ante cualquier adversidad.
La trama te engancha rápidamente (Incluso desde el primer capítulo), es algo tan impactante que te invita a continuar con la historia.
Me gusta mucho esos animes donde van mucho más allá de lo superficial y comentan un poco más de los personajes secundarios, aquí a cada uno se le brindó su identidad como mencioné anteriormente. (Una de mis escenas favoritas es cuando Kokoro tiene a su hija, me parece algo muy tierno por que ninguno de los chicos sabía que hacer ante esa situación, ya que era algo nuevo).
En otras palabras... recomiendo mucho este anime no sólo por la trama de acción, sino que también lleva una historia bonita de amor, amistad y descubrimiento de cada personaje, es un anime que te atrapa y te entretiene, vale completamente la pena.
