A few days ago I had the chance to actually go to a cinema for the first time in almost 2 years. I am a big lover of movies, but due to Covid, I have been unable to go to the cinema to watch a movie for a very long time. But, as I mentioned, earlier this week I actually had the chance.
For the first time in my life, I went to an outdoor cinema, in which you were sitting under some kind of roof, but the screen itself was open air. As a result, if it would start to rain, I would be mostly safe, but if it would start to blow some wind at the same time, I would get the rain in my face. It also meant that it was really fresh air, and the scariest event during the movie was when the train came by a blew its horn (since the cinema was next to a railway)... man, I jumped in my chair!
But, let me return to the actual movie - Raya and the Last Dragon.

This is a Disney production, meaning that if you live in a country with Disney Plus, you can actually stream this movie for free with your Disney Plus subscription. It seems to be more and more normal with similar solutions because in the same way, I saw that they would show Space Jam as well in the same cinema, and this is a movie produced for HBO Max in the USA. So, several movies made for streaming services is shown in theatres in countries without those streaming services.
Raya and the Last Dragon is a very cute animated movie, not for the smallest kids, but suitable for those 10 or older. I did watch it with younger kids, but sitting next to them, holding their hands, and speaking about it afterward, means that younger kids might watch it as well. There is something called drones in the movie (scary creatures that turn animals and humans into stone statues), and they reminded me a lot of the dementors in Harry Potter. In other words, that was the feeling I had, and that can easily feel very scary to younger kids.
A kingdom has been separated in five, and the only thing that can bring peace is if they are unified and live in peace, and trust one another. Instead, the opposite is happening, and that makes the world an even darker place to be. Raya is hunting for a dragon that might help peace return, but when she finds the dragon, it isn't exactly how she expected it to be.
I really enjoyed it...
I really enjoyed the movie, even though it was a children's movie. Probably because it was kind of exciting, even though anyone who has seen some movies will easily be able to predict what is going to happen.
No matter what, this is a great movie for a home cinema experience at Disney Plus, or if you decide to pay for an actual cinema ticket and watch it on a large screen!
