His name cause terror in the hearts of every member of the crime underworld; his commitment and pure will gave him the respect that conserves yet between his colleagues after his retirement and his eventual return to the criminal world for a cause that some people would consider a bit absurd.
John Wick, the acclaimed film by Chad Stahelski and starred by Keanu Reeves, tells us a story of pure revenge and hard violence; it presents the evolution of a methodical rage unleashed by the breaking of an element in particular; it presents the vulnerability of a man who lost everything on days. A vulnerability that I don't remember to see in other action movies, not even in the ones filmed on the 90's nor the ones that were recently released this year.
I really loved that aspect alongside the use of the color, the exciting selection of the soundtrack and the excelent acting of Reeves and Michael Nyqvist. In fact, Reeves showed us that the action heroes, or antiheroes in this case, are not the ones who fight with twenty guys with no bruises and without ruffling or that were not hurt in the middle of an exaggerated series of explosions, but the ones who fight yet after receiving unerring bullets and stabbing in any part of the body and despite being emotionally vulnerable.
However, what atracted me of this movie since I watched the cut scenes on Youtube was the subtle and precise use of the symbolism that the triggers of Wick's rage represent. And no, I'm not talking about the car; I'm talking about Daisy, the puppy.
Yes, that cute and sweet puppy that his wife, Helen, gave him postmortem; the one that was brutally murdered by Iosef, Viggo Tarasov's son, and his minions. That little animal was the representation of Helen's love; it was the new recipient of John's affections, his partner of grief and the silver lining on leaving the past behind. An affection that, transformed on rage and pain, would conduct him to, literally, kill the Tarasov's whole staff.
If you're a fan of the non-stop action, or you're looking for a new film, believe me that John Wick will not dissappoint you.
