A friend gave me the novel The Girl On The Train to help me write a mystery thriller novel published online. However, something bothered me. The novel The Girl On The Train is told from a first-person perspective, and it's more than one person. So I'm a little confused. Ha ha ha

Then I thought, I'd better watch the movie version first, so I'll understand what's going to be told in the book later.

When reading a novel to support my writing process, I usually focus more on the vocabulary the author has written so that it will provoke my words.

However, this post aims to review the film, not the book.

Let's get it!

The Girl On The Train, Indian Version

As you know, The Girl on The Train is a film adapted from Paul Hawkins' novel. The original film was released in 2016, while the Indian version was released last year.

Right after Mira won her trial, she was declared pregnant. He and Shekar became so happy that Mira decided to stop working when her child was born. However, unfortunately, Mira and Shekar had a serious accident. They lost their baby, and Mira became very depressed about it. Mira has short memory syndrome, where she can't remember much about what happened. Mira became a drunkard, who was later divorced by her husband. It made his life even more difficult.

Then Mira is told who keeps trying to fight for her life. he was like an undead who had no zest for life after losing everything. Only Piya, her best friend, cares for her. he is even more hurt when his ex-husband and new wife are happy and show their happiness on social media. Shekar and his new wife even occupied the house where Shekar and Mira used to live.

In the midst of her recovery, Mira slowly finds something that makes her happy, namely watching the activities of a woman named Nushrat from the train window. For Mira, Nushrat is a manifestation of a perfect life. Nushrat is a beautiful woman, has a handsome husband, can do what she likes. It was a picture of the perfect life for Mira. Mira was always happy to watch Nushrat from behind the train window.

Until one day, Mira finds Nushrat hugging another man. Mira was very curious who it was. Finally he felt disappointed, that the perfect woman in his eyes had an affair. Mira became angry. she doesn't like Nushrat betraying her husband. It's like seeing her ex-husband when he cheated on her and now living happily with his mistress. Mira was not calm again. he wants to warn Nushrat that what she is doing is wrong.

Mira remembers that she went to Nushrat's house to warn Nushrat, but what she remembers, she killed Nushrat, because the next day when Mira woke up, she found her body covered in wounds and blood. News on TV also reported that Nushrat was missing. Mira became frightened because from that day on she began to be followed by the police who were suspicious of her. But he couldn't remember a single memory other than the belief that he didn't kill the woman he admired. he is indeed angry with Nushrat but he is sure that he did not kill Nushrat and he does not know where Nushrat is.

Not long after, Nushrat was found in a forest, dead. This makes Mira a suspect. He has even been seen at Nushrat's house, it's the CCTV footage of Nushrat's house. But Mira is sure that she didn't kill Nushrat. While gathering her memories, armed with the belief that she didn't kill Nushrat, Mira escapes and investigates the Nushrat murder case herself.

In his investigation, he discovers the fact that Shekar was also involved in Nushrat's murder. Apparently, Shekar is Nushrat's mistress. Even though the man she saw from the train wasn't Shekar, it was Nushrat's psychiatrist trying to calm her down that time. This gets complicated when suddenly all of Mira's memories come back. He remembers clearly that that night he saw Nushrat meeting Shekar in the jungle. Shekar is angry, beats Mira until she is seriously injured.

But what is unexpected is that the person behind Nushrat's death is a female police officer named Dabir Singh, who is investigating the case of Nushrat's murder. She is the daughter of a man imprisoned by Mira who eventually committed suicide in prison. Dabir Singh originally wanted to kill Mira, but circumstances led him to kill Nushrat and make Mira a suspect. It was the revenge of a princess whose father was imprisoned by Mira.

Indian Version More Interesting Than Original Version

Released during the pandemic, this film did not appear in theaters but was broadcast on the online platform, netflix. The film stars Parineeti Chopra as Mira. Parineeti is one of the Bollywood actresses whose acting development is getting better, including in this film. He has a lot of praise for his acting in this film, and I have to admit that his acting is really good.

This film is truly beyond expectation. At first I thought this was a film about infidelity, but it turns out to be a film about revenge. I haven't finished reading the book yet, so I'm not sure if it's really similar to the book version, or even the original film version. I tried watching the original, but it was so boring that I didn't finish watching it.

Even though I've only watched the original for a while, I think that the mental health diversion in the Indian version is deeper and understandable than the original.

For me, this Indian version has a very interesting plot so I don't get bored watching it until the end.

Thanks for reading my blog

I have so much imagination in my head. Something that I can't achieve as a human and as a girl. So writing is very challenging. Since Junior High School, I have written whatever I want to write. Without skill, I just write what I want to read. Now I have 12th published novels and all of them are romance.

Yeah, I proudly say that I am a passionate author.

I have read the book and seen the original film and your review makes it seem like this version is actually better. I don't know if it's available in my country though, I'll check.
