A friend gave me the novel The Girl On The Train to help me write a mystery thriller novel published online. However, something bothered me. The novel The Girl On The Train is told from a first-person perspective, and it's more than one person. So I'm a little confused. Ha ha ha

Then I thought, I'd better watch the movie version first, so I'll understand what's going to be told in the book later.

When reading a novel to support my writing process, I usually focus more on the vocabulary the author has written so that it will provoke my words.

However, this post aims to review the film, not the book.

    Let's get it!

The Girl On The Train, Indian Version

As you know, The Girl on The Train is a film adapted from Paul Hawkins' novel. The original film was released in 2016, while the Indian version was released last year.

Right after Mira won her trial, she was declared pregnant. He and Shekar became so happy that Mira decided to stop working when her child was born. However, unfortunately, Mira and Shekar had a serious accident. They lost their baby, and Mira became very depressed about it. Mira has short memory syndrome, where she can't remember much about what happened. Mira became a drunkard, who was later divorced by her husband. It made his life even more difficult.

Then Mira is told who keeps trying to fight for her life. he was like an undead who had no zest for life after losing everything. Only Piya, her best friend, cares for her. he is even more hurt when his ex-husband and new wife are happy and show their happiness on social media. Shekar and his new wife even occupied the house where Shekar and Mira used to live.

In the midst of her recovery, Mira slowly finds something that makes her happy, namely watching the activities of a woman named Nushrat from the train window. For Mira, Nushrat is a manifestation of a perfect life. Nushrat is a beautiful woman, has a handsome husband, can do what she likes. It was a picture of the perfect life for Mira. Mira was always happy to watch Nushrat from behind the train window.

Until one day, Mira finds Nushrat hugging another man. Mira was very curious who it was. Finally he felt disappointed, that the perfect woman in his eyes had an affair. Mira became angry. she doesn't like Nushrat betraying her husband. It's like seeing her ex-husband when he cheated on her and now living happily with his mistress. Mira was not calm again. he wants to warn Nushrat that what she is doing is wrong.

Mira remembers that she went to Nushrat's house to warn Nushrat, but what she remembers, she killed Nushrat, because the next day when Mira woke up, she found her body covered in wounds and blood. News on TV also reported that Nushrat was missing. Mira became frightened because from that day on she began to be followed by the police who were suspicious of her. But he couldn't remember a single memory other than the belief that he didn't kill the woman he admired. he is indeed angry with Nushrat but he is sure that he did not kill Nushrat and he does not know where Nushrat is.

Not long after, Nushrat was found in a forest, dead. This makes Mira a suspect. He has even been seen at Nushrat's house, it's the CCTV footage of Nushrat's house. But Mira is sure that she didn't kill Nushrat. While gathering her memories, armed with the belief that she didn't kill Nushrat, Mira escapes and investigates the Nushrat murder case herself.

In his investigation, he discovers the fact that Shekar was also involved in Nushrat's murder. Apparently, Shekar is Nushrat's mistress. Even though the man she saw from the train wasn't Shekar, it was Nushrat's psychiatrist trying to calm her down that time. This gets complicated when suddenly all of Mira's memories come back. He remembers clearly that that night he saw Nushrat meeting Shekar in the jungle. Shekar is angry, beats Mira until she is seriously injured.

But what is unexpected is that the person behind Nushrat's death is a female police officer named Dabir Singh, who is investigating the case of Nushrat's murder. She is the daughter of a man imprisoned by Mira who eventually committed suicide in prison. Dabir Singh originally wanted to kill Mira, but circumstances led him to kill Nushrat and make Mira a suspect. It was the revenge of a princess whose father was imprisoned by Mira.

Indian Version More Interesting Than Original Version

Released during the pandemic, this film did not appear in theaters but was broadcast on the online platform, netflix. The film stars Parineeti Chopra as Mira. Parineeti is one of the Bollywood actresses whose acting development is getting better, including in this film. He has a lot of praise for his acting in this film, and I have to admit that his acting is really good.

This film is truly beyond expectation. At first I thought this was a film about infidelity, but it turns out to be a film about revenge. I haven't finished reading the book yet, so I'm not sure if it's really similar to the book version, or even the original film version. I tried watching the original, but it was so boring that I didn't finish watching it.

Even though I've only watched the original for a while, I think that the mental health diversion in the Indian version is deeper and understandable than the original.

For me, this Indian version has a very interesting plot so I don't get bored watching it until the end.

    Thanks for reading my blog

I have so much imagination in my head. Something that I can't achieve as a human and as a girl. So writing is very challenging. Since Junior High School, I have written whatever I want to write. Without skill, I just write what I want to read. Now I have 12th published novels and all of them are romance.

Yeah, I proudly say that I am a passionate author.

🎞 "Дівчина в потягу" ("The Girl on the Train") - американська драма-трилер за однойменним романом Поли Гоукінз.

The novels have been a source of inspiration for the cinema since shortly after his birth. Fashions come and go, but literature persists as the origin of films of all kinds, from masterpieces to real disasters. All this is due to the readers, since it is normal that the producers fix their attention on books that have destroyed sales, whatever their actual level. In the case of The Girl on the Train, it was not even two years after its publication for her film adaptation.

Year: 2016 Category: Mystery, Thriller, Drama. Director: Tate Taylor Cast: Emily Blunt, Rebecca Ferguson, Justin Theroux, Haley Bennett, Luke Evans, Allison Janney, Édgar Ramírez, Lisa Kudrow.

    Plot

The film begins with the newly divorced Rachel Watson on a train that takes every day on the way to work. On that trip, Rachel goes through her old house, the house where her husband lived with a new partner and their son, which keeps alive the pain that she just wants to forget. Rachel begins to notice a couple who lives a few houses beyond, Megan and Scott Hipwell, a marriage that she imagines happy, until one day witnesses a shocking event from the window of the train, something that leaves her impacted and fills her of rage. The next day he wakes up, without memories of the previous night, before the disappearance of Megan and decides to get down to work to discover what happened in those hours of which he has no memory and what relationship she has with what has happened to Megan .

    Opinion

It is clear that one of the great attractions of many suspense films is to solve the mystery raised. It is still a necessary game to capture the interest of the viewer, who, depending on the case, will focus on trying to be the smartest of the class or simply letting himself go and accepting everything the film wants to sell him. There are many intermediate stages between both options, but in the end it is the fascination capacity of the story itself that plays a fundamental role for it.

In the film we have a crime in which it is insinuating at all times with the possibility that the protagonist is responsible for it. His unfortunate state, both physical and, above all, psychological, all perfectly reflected by an Emily Blunt who may not respond to the description of the character in the novel, something that compensates by immersing himself fully in the problematic personality of Rachel.

However, of course everything has to be more complicated than it seems and that's where the problems come from, since all the plots parallel to the one of the protagonist are monotonous of entrances, they lack any kind of brightness in their development - neither they never try too hard to give them the necessary entity - and there comes a point at which they fall more or less sharply into ridicule. Blunt does what he can to compensate, but it's not enough.

The narrative tries to give us three different points of view, that of the three women who make up the story (Rachel, Megan and Anna), dotted with continuous jumps back in time that distract attention, are confusing, and instead of creating suspense alone it slows down the action, the events are slowly revealed without generating enough tension to get us surprised.

In general it is too artificial, something that does not help with the end that occurs in a clumsy and hasty manner. Although the characters are not deep enough, it must be said that Emily Blunt acts very well as this depressed, alcoholic, and lost in her own confusion. Haley Bennett and Rebecca Ferguson complete the trio protagonist, they are fine although they do not have much material to show off, one soon disappears from the scene and the other is too passive. We can see Allison Janney as the detective in charge of the case and in a couple of scenes to Laura Prepon and Lisa Kudrow. As for the male part, the characters are even more one-dimensional, so Justin Therou, Luke Evans and Edgar Ramirez do what they can. A story about addiction, loneliness, voyeurism, violence and sex that does not get excited despite the good work of its leading actresses.

The film is entertaining but it is still a fairly basic thriller. Emily Blunt plays a good role but there is something wrong. Maybe the music or the plans fail, but there are plenty of moments that should surprise us with surprise and that does not happen. I think an untapped opportunity of what could be a great movie.

    Score

    6/10

I think you could have gotten more out of the story. I only recommend seeing it if you have read the novel, otherwise it is better to read the novel before. In any case, the film can be entertaining, good to see on a Sunday afternoon when you have nothing better to do.

  4. "The Girl on the Train" - movie review@godflesh2988d

"The Girl on the Train" without scruples casts in the face of the observer the truth that an unhappy person can not create a happy family. A grim, tragic and traumatic family story. The characters are locked by their demons in the closet. They have neither a key nor a real door through which to get out. Primary frames are a utopian-melancholic prelude observed by a train. I myself, during my trip, had the feeling that the window is something like a movie screen and the trip is something like a projection - but unlike real cinema, the traveler has the task of inventing the subjects themselves, cutting the frames and arranging them with rhythm and inner logic. Emily Blunt's character (Rachel) is doing just that - it's like a torn, waving flower that is drinking alcohol. As she travels, she looks every day at the houses of others, in the lives of others, and looks for some beautiful story to dispel her self-deception. It is not a common feminine image, and this is the first dignity of history - it begins with recurring close cadres on the face of a woman marked by a psychological problem. Her makeup is blurred in the middle of a white day, her eyes are puffy with tears, pouring like a pig, talking slowly. Her ex-husband says about her: "You are a dog that only crawls unwanted after the others."

Of course, such a heroine is not an unprecedented phenomenon, but the natural play of such a role fills with satisfaction and respect. Charlize Theron is the perfect white trash in Young Adult" (a movie I recommend regardless of your movie tastes). And while I'm on the subject of comparisons, I've also thought of "Atnement" several times, where we also have a classic example of an unreliable narrator. Brilliant example of the tragic consequences that can cause fictitious imagination. Obligatory masterpiece. "I'm not the girl I was" is one of Rachel's first testimonials. She feels repulsive, empty and useless. Her husband dropped her two years ago and lives with her new wife Ana (Rebecca Ferguson) and their baby. Rachel has lost her job and lives with a friend from the university in a tight, dark room. Nothing in her life is alright, and to make it even worse, she is in no way trying to change it. As she travels every morning on the train, she notices James and Jesse (with real names Megan and Scott, played by Haley Bennett and Luc Evans). There is a very beautiful, repetitive frame - they are huddled in the garden around the fire in a calm evening. Rachel seems to want to drink them along with the whole alchohol.

The perfect family, her past, which will not be repeated. Structurally," The Girl on the Train" is built up of chaotic scattered memories, scenes and hypothetical situations. Rachel is obsessed with Megan and Scott and begins to invent stories about them. She is artistic, young, fresh, subdues it with intellect and freedom. He is English-handsome - sleekly radiant and confident. In Paula Hawkins' book, their names are James and Jesse, while Rachel does not understand that they really call Megan and Scott. Alas, Megan and Scott do not sound as utopian as James and Jesse. (Incidentally, the book is sometimes weaker than the movie.) The film borrows good things and adds character to them. A huge problem with the book is that it tells the story in a dry way. Paula Hawkins definitely invented something good, but she buried her potential with tedious, repetitive passages. Her personages are lifeless, they lead monologues for their inner world, but they seem to remain kinetically empty all the time. Including the narrative structure of the film follows that of the book. The story is told from three points of view - Rachel, Ana and Megan. All three are fixed in creating a family and having children. All three suffer because the happiness they have made has not. Whether fixation is something socially acceptable, such as having a child, it is poisonous. Another strong message. Alcohol, in addition to causing depression, exacerbates the imagination, influencing vision on the one hand and the overall concept of reality. Rachel is the girl who sees and sees a lot but is not sure of anything. One day, as she goes by train along the house of Megan and Scott, she sees Megan kissing with another man. His face is unclear, but not Scott, that's for sure. A few days later, Megan disappears.

    1007332_1_10-07girltrain_standard.jpg

It is no secret that the male characters in the "The Girl on the Train" are far more boring than the females. We have Tom in the role of Rachel's former husband (Justin Theru), Scott (Luc Evans, Megan's husband) and Dr. Kemal Abdick, the psychologist of Megan and Rachel. In fact, the latter is the most interesting of the three. It is special because of its caring and emotional balance, which are rather female qualities. Dr. Adbeck is a key counterpoint to the three upset women in the movie - he's a much more mother than any of them. Megan is especially the wildest, most exhausted character of the three. She is a powerless child, with the body and the sexual aspirations of a mature woman. She is horrified and traumatized by a loss in the past and can never make the right decision. One of the most imbalanced people I've ever seen on screen. (Great play by Haley Bennett, though the treasure of the movie is Emily Blunt.) Here is the time to say that the story deepens, the six characters engage in secrets and conflicts, and the film turns into a well-escalating thriller that definitely holds the promise of curiosity tall to the final. (Unlike the book that in the cheapest way keeps you reading, not because you are really enjoyable, just because you need to know what's going on.) Still, do not be fooled - you will not watch the visual-storyline of David Fincher's "Gone Girl" as Hollywood contrabilds are trying to mark it. The perverse perversion of the latter is not achieved, although I believe that with a little more detail, adding something here, getting something out there, this story could have been even more influential. And yes, I agree with all those who say that Fincher had to direct it.

In general, let Fincher direct everything.
