Review by @waralotito 🏆#21 🔥34 🎵3.3k 🎬37 · 5h · of Ghost Rider · 1 view

¿Podrá Johnny salvar a Roxanne?

ENGLISH VERSION

My review of Ghost Rider (2007)

Hello Scrobble Life community, today I bring you this movie which, although it didn't seem like my style, caught my attention a lot because of the story behind it and also when I found out it was a Marvel character.

So, without further ado, let the movie roll.

🎬 A bit of context

Johnny Blaze is a young motorcycle stuntman who works in a circus with his father, Barton Blaze. But one day he finds out that his father has terminal cancer. That same nite, Johnny is visited by Mephistopheles (the Devil), who offers him a deal: to cure his father in exchange for his soul.

Johnny accepts by signing the contract with a drop of blood. The next day, his father is completely cured of cancer, but tragically dies in an accident during a stunt. Johnny accuses Mephistopheles of betrayal, but he warns him that he will return for him when the time is right.

Some time later, Johnny becomes a famous acrobat capable of surviving all kinds of dangerous stunts without a scratch. At that time, he reunites with a childhood friend, Roxanne Simpson, and when he tries to establish a closer relationship with her, Mephistopheles appears again.

He tells him that he has a very important job for him: his son, Blackheart, has come to Earth to find the "Contract of San Vengeance" (a document that contains a thousand cursed souls) in order to overthrow his father and rule the world. So Mephistopheles turns Johnny into the new Ghost Rider to act as his bounty hunter and destroy Blackheart.

So every nite Johnny undergoes a painful transformation to fulfilll the task. He not only had to destroy Blackheart but also the other three elemental demons that serve him. After a nite of hunting, the next day he wakes up in a cemetery, where a gravedigger tells him everything about the Ghost Rider's curse and explains how his powers work, such as the Penance Stare.

Blackheart sees that Johnny easily defeats his henchmen, so he decides to use something against him to finally get him to hand over the contract: he kidnaps Roxanne.

Can Johnny save Roxanne? Will he be stuck with that curse forever? If you want to know what happens, I invite you to go watch this great movie. And if you've already seen it, keep reading my post.

♥ What I liked the most

This is a very interesting story because I have always heard stories where pacts are made with the devil in exchange for something, but in the end, it always seems like evil wins.

Something like, if you don't ask for things properly, it can backfire and turn against you. It's like when a contract has certain legal loopholes that can be beneficial for the other party, but not for you; that's why they always say to ask for things clearly, that is, to be very specific.

One of the most interesting scenes is when this young man goes to that place at the four corners, and it is there that he makes the pact with the devil. That is also true in real life: there are stories where people go to these kinds of places because it is easier to encounter evil.

Then we move forward to where Johnny becomes a super famous acrobat, with many fans and money, but he seems not to care about any of that, he felt empty. That's when this girl from his past appears, and it seems like he starts to see life from a different perspective.

Something funny about that part is that she doesn't agree to go on a date with him, so Johnny follows her on his motorcycle and almost runs her over trying to catch up with her. She, feeling pressured and seeing the danger she was in because of him, agrees.

But by the time they had the date, he couldn't attend because he was already "working" for the devil as Ghost Rider. So he starts killing the henchmen, but at the same time, he also took revenge on those people who had done some wrong.

For example, there is a scene where they take him to prison because they already suspected he was killing people around the city, but nite falls, he transforms into that entity and kills an inmate who had been bothering him with the Penitence Gaze, making him see his worst fear and feel so bad that he ends up charred.

But then he sees a teenager who was also there, looks at him for a moment, and tells him that he wasn't guilty of anything, that is, he had been locked up unjustly. The young man, upon seeing the transformation and everything Ghost Rider did, just faints from fear.

It's funny to see that there were people who started to follow everything this avenger did, they even liked it when he did flips and killed the bad guys. He had many women who started to see him in a different light, hehe.

I also liked the scenes where he was killing each of Blackheart's henchmen because he managed to find their weak spot and used it to kill them.

If we go to the scene with the gravedigger, it turned out that this man was another Ghost Rider, who was also guarding that contract and therefore already knew about the curse and everything he could do with his powers.

Then, to confront Blackheart, they both take their tools, the motorcycle and the horse, and each transforms into beasts of fire. The style and all the special effects seemed great to me.

And finally, something that left me a bit sad was that both Johnny and Roxanne didn't end up together because it was too dangerous for both of them; all that love they once had ended in a goodbye kiss.

But now it seemed that Johnny had finally outsmarted the devil, because he decided to keep that curse to prevent him from causing trouble, so he almost had him under control. That infuriated the devil terribly, who swore to take revenge.

☁ Some reflections

It always made me think that making pacts with these types of entities is not a good idea, mainly because there are always tricks to avoid fulfilling the agreement and the evil takes the most advantage of that contract.

Personally, I like to listen to those kinds of terrifying stories in podcasts where true stories are told, and you always hear the same thing: by trusting too much, they end up worse off. And obviously, it's not that they pay with money, but with what they value the most.

It's terrible what one can end up doing or giving for money, fame, or someone's love; they become so blinded that they don't measure the size of the consequences, only for everything to end up being a deception and they end up losing everything.

I hope you liked this movie and I would like to know which scene you liked the most.

See you in the next post!
