Well, since I'm more excited than ever about HBO Max, I've recently been sharing some of the content I've been watching. I want to mention that I stumbled across this movie on the platform, as I realized how much DC content there is and decided to watch something animated and family-friendly to pass the afternoon. Some of you may be familiar with this group of super-pets, since there's a classic series that introduces them, but in this movie, they have a different origin story that I thought was really cool.
Bueno, ya que ando emocionada como nunca con HBO Max, últimamente he estado compartiendo con ustedes algunos de los contenidos que desde aquí he logrado mirar. Quiero mencionar que esta película me la encontré en esta plataforma, puesto que caí en cuenta de la gran cantidad de contenido de DC que hay y me animé a algo animado y familiar para pasar la tarde. Algunos tienen conocimiento de este grupo de supermascotas, ya que existe una serie clásica en donde se nos presentan, pero en esta película tuvieron un origen diferente que me pareció muy genial.
This film begins with the classic Superman origin story, but what's different is that Krypto was sent to Earth with Clark, becoming his loyal companion and friend ever since. Next, we see the current adventures of Krypto and the now-adult Clark "Superman," while also introducing us to the other superheroes in this universe. Then we move on to the rest of the super-pets, who live in a shelter. Among the shelter's pets is the film's villain, a guinea pig that once belonged to Lex Luthor's laboratories and shares the same ideology as Superman's archenemy, leading her and her henchmen to cause significant trouble.
Esta película comienza con el clásico origen de Superman, pero lo que hubo de diferente en esta película es que Kripto fue enviado a la Tierra junto a Clark, siendo su compañero y amigo fiel del famoso superhéroe desde entonces. Próximo, vemos cómo son actualmente las aventuras de Kripto y el ya adulto Clark “Superman”, mientras nos muestran al resto de superhéroes que hay en este universo, y luego pasan al resto de las supermascotas, quienes viven en un refugio. Entre las mascotas del refugio está la que sería el villano de esta cinta, un conejillo de indias que antes le pertenecía a los laboratorios de Lex Luthor y quien comparte la misma ideología del enemigo #1 de Superman, lo que la lleva a causar grandes problemas junto a sus secuaces.
In this movie, I saw the appearance of orange kryptonite, which piqued my curiosity and led me to do some research. For a moment, I thought it was just a detail added to the film, but from what I read online, it's officially canon. However, its uses have been highly varied, since, depending on the comics, movies, and television, it either grants powers similar to Superman's or has a limited duration of only 24 hours. In the case of this movie, it's quite different; these are varied and definitive powers, and curiously, they don't have the weakness of green kryptonite, which distinguishes them from Kryptonians.
En esta película vi la aparición de la kriptonita naranja, lo que me dio mucha curiosidad y me llevó a investigar un poco sobre ella. Por un momento me pareció un detalle agregado a la película, pero por lo que leí en internet, esta es oficialmente canónica, pero sus usos han sido altamente variados, ya que, variando del cómic, el cine y la televisión, estos o dan poderes parecidos a los de Superman, o tienen una duración limitada de 24 horas solamente. En el caso de esta película es sumamente distinto; estos son poderes variados y definitivos, y curiosamente no tienen la debilidad de la kriptonita verde, lo que los distingue de los kriptonianos.
And something I found hilarious in the movie was the ridicule of the Justice League superheroes. I understand this is because the pets are the main characters and need to demonstrate superiority, and yet, I found it curious how easy it is to control them, like the green kryptonite for the Kryptonians or how they freeze water to neutralize Aquaman. The movie is full of incredibly funny moments that remind us of the antics of our beloved pets, like the loyalty of dogs and the tenderness of cats. Also, in my opinion, they took some time to remind us to always adopt, if possible, those animals in need of a home.
Y algo que me pareció demasiado chistoso en la película fue la ridiculización hacia los superhéroes de La Liga de la Justicia. Entiendo que esto se debe a que las mascotas son los protagonistas y deben mostrar superioridad y, aun así, me pareció curioso que realmente es demasiado fácil controlarlos, como la kriptonita verde para los criptonianos o que congelan el agua para neutralizar a Aquaman. Esta está llena de momentos sumamente chistosos y que nos recuerdan a las locuras de aquellos pequeños que nos acompañan en el hogar, como la fidelidad del perro y la ternura de los gatos. También, a mi parecer, dedicaron algo de tiempo para decirnos que siempre adoptemos, si está a nuestro alcance, a aquellos animalitos que necesiten un hogar.
This is a highly entertaining movie that perfectly introduces you to the DC Super Pets universe, so I can't deny that I thoroughly enjoyed it and had a lot of fun. Fortunately, it boasts a fantastic cast that adds even more quality to the film, and if you'd like to watch it, don't hesitate to look for it on HBO Max.
