Plot

The film begins with what appears to be a luxury boat with a couple on board. As they approach, the man is thrown into the water by some terrifying-looking people who try to drown him, while certain visions appear consecutively. Suddenly, the man wakes up from what appears to be a nightmare. His name is Lincoln Six Echo, and he lives in what appears to be an isolated complex with other people where absolutely everything is regulated: from what you eat and wear to what you flush down the toilet. Everyone dresses the same, with a white suit with black stripes for men and blue stripes for women. However, unlike the others, Lincoln is the only one in this place who questions everything that happens there.

I have a vague memory of this film from when I was a child or preteen. At the time, I wasn't even sure if I had seen it in its entirety, which, if I had, I would remember more clearly. Since then, I haven't seen it again, nor have I seen anyone on the internet recommend it or even mention its existence. If it weren't for how much Michael Bay's films have influenced my life, I wouldn't have remembered the name of this movie when I wrote the list of science fiction works for this special. And thank goodness I did, because what I recently encountered when I saw it was quite a spectacle, as only the director of the Transformers film series can deliver.

Of course, those of us who are familiar with his work know how Michael handles scripts and characters. We also know that the only thing he excels at is the audiovisual aspect, which is no exception in the case of The Island. But beyond entertaining us with a chase sequence full of action and explosions, Michael manages to curiously mix the theme of escaping dystopias with clones and their commercial use in this futuristic world. I was surprised myself by how the film begins with a sense of being a story full of mystery and suspense, with an unsettling atmosphere throughout and a setting that leaves you cold because of how strange it is.

Tengo un vago recuerdo de esta película de cuando era niño o preadolescente. En aquel entonces no estaba seguro siquiera de que lo hubiera visto completo, cosa que si fuese así lo recordaría más claramente. Desde entonces, no lo he visto más nunca y tampoco vi que gente en internet lo recomiende o siquiera llegase a mencionar de su existencia. Si no fuera por lo mucho que las cintas de Michael Bay han influenciado en mi vida, no hubiera recordado el nombre de esta película para cuando escribí la lista de obras de ciencia ficción para este especial. Y menos mal que lo hice, ya que lo que me topé recientemente al verla fue todo un espectáculo, tal y como el mismo director de la serie de películas de Transformers puede hacer.

Claro está, los que conocemos su trabajo sabemos cómo maneja Michael el tema de los guiones y los personajes. También sabemos que en lo único en lo que él se destaca es en lo audiovisual, lo cual no es la excepción en el caso de The Island. Pero más allá de entretenernos con una secuencia de persecución con acción y explosiones, Michael consigue mezclar de una manera curiosa el tema de los escapes de distopías con los clones y el uso comercial que estos tienen en este mundo futurista. Yo mismo llegué a sorprenderme de cómo la cinta inicia con una sensación de ser una historia repleta de misterio y suspenso con un ambiente inquietante en todo momento y un lugar que te deja frío por lo extraño que es.

But after the first act, we see how all this changes dramatically into a simple action thriller with flying motorcycles, explosions, and buildings falling apart. Personally, I have nothing against the two completely opposite sides of this film. What does concern me is the fact that the theme of persecution and everything else completely overshadows what is presented at the beginning. I'm not saying that the story or the characters are poorly done, quite the contrary. The only thing I want to highlight is how this audiovisual spectacle, with its action and typical clichés, completely overshadows the main message, which is related to the theme of human identity.

As some of my regular readers will know, I'm a big fan of dystopian works, especially if they're inspired by their golden age in the 70s and 80s. And that's what caught my attention at the beginning of this film, as the first thing we see is our protagonist, Lincoln, discovering that everything he knows about this complex where he is living is a simple, well-constructed facade beneath a military bunker in the middle of a huge desert. When he discovers the true fate of those who are "chosen to go to the island", terror sets in, and this moment in the film is nothing short of thrilling. Of course, the rest of the film is also entertaining and interesting.

Pero luego de su primer acto es que vemos cómo todo esto cambia de forma estrepitosa a un simple thriller de acción y persecuciones con motos voladoras, explosiones y edificios cayéndose a pedazos. Personalmente opino que no tengo nada en contra de ambos lados completamente opuestos que tiene esta película. Lo que sí me preocupa es el hecho de que el tema de la persecución y todo lo demás llegue a opacar por completo lo que se presenta desde un principio. No digo que la historia o los personajes están mal hechos, sino todo lo contrario, más bien. Lo único que destaco es cómo dicho espectáculo audiovisual con su acción y los típicos clichés de siempre opacan por completo el mensaje principal que se relaciona incluso con el tema de la identidad humana.

Como ya algunos de los que me leen frecuentemente sabrán, soy muy fan de las obras distópicas y más si están inspiradas en su época dorada de los años 70 y 80. Y lo que me atrapó al principio de esta película fue esto, ya que lo primero que vemos es a nuestro protagonista, Lincoln, descubrir que todo lo que conoce de este complejo donde está viviendo es una simple fachada bien construida debajo de un búnker militar en medio de un enorme desierto. Cuando descubre el verdadero destino de los que son “elegidos para ir a la isla”, el terror se hace presente y no causa más que emoción este momento de la película. Claro, lo demás que vemos en el resto de la película es también entretenido e interesante.

I say this because I think that, for Michael Bay, he manages to balance the suspense with everything else, including the action and the chases. However, the main problem is that, because it's Michael Bay, we know that the visual and sound effects will make us completely forget what the hell we're watching. While we try not to forget that it's a couple of clones trying to escape for their lives in a futuristic Los Angeles, everything that made sense in this movie disappears completely when we see how they both survive a huge fall with part of a building collapsing and a helicopter exploding in the air.

Yes, now you know what I mean by "the usual clichés" in this movie. Things like the protagonists or main characters surviving things like what I just described above; Lincoln inexplicably remembering everything about his promoter, even how to drive a flying motorcycle in a chase scene. Or even the typical ending that this movie has, which is taken from dozens of action stories where the protagonist saves the world, defeats the villain, and gets the girl. I mean, it's as if Michael or the writers of this script didn't put any effort into the story after even getting halfway through it.

O sea, es como si Michael o los escritores de este guión no se esforzaron en lo absoluto con la historia luego de llegar siquiera a la mitad de ella.

But hey, I'm not saying that this makes The Island a bad movie. On the one hand, it has a compelling premise, but after the halfway point, it deceives you like a clickbait title, since it's not a story about a dystopian world as it supposedly claims to be at the beginning. On the other hand, it also delivers on being a film full of action, fascinating sequences, explosions, dark humor, and—of course—typical clone jokes (such as "shoot him, I'm the real one..."). So, if you like that kind of entertaining, high-production-value film, then this movie is what you're looking for.

But if you're looking for something that makes you question your own identity, you can also watch it, although it won't be entirely fascinating after the sudden change that occurs after the first hour of footage. It's not that it has character development or moments that blow your mind with a fascinating handling of elements and ideologies about what really identifies us as humans and what differentiates us from a copy made 100% in our likeness. Unfortunately, Michael Bay doesn't seem to have the head for experimenting with those things. We already know that his thing is to make a car explosion or a building collapse look great in his movies, and that's it.

Por un lado cumple con tener una premisa que atrapa, solo que luego de la mitad te engaña como un título clickbait ya que no es una historia de un mundo distópico como supuestamente dice serlo al principio. Pero por otro lado cumple también con ser una cinta repleta de acción, secuencias fascinantes, explosiones, humor negro y -por supuesto- chistes típicos de clones (como lo es el caso de “dispárale a él, yo soy el verdadero…”). Así que, por ese lado, si te gustan ese tipo de películas entretenidas y con un gran nivel de producción, entonces esta película es lo que buscabas.

Pero si lo que buscas es algo que te haga dudar de tu propia identidad, también lo puedes ver, aunque no será del todo fascinante luego del cambio repentino que tiene después de la primera hora de metraje. Tampoco es que tenga un desarrollo de personajes o momentos en los que te explote la cabeza con un manejo fascinante de elementos e ideologías sobre lo que realmente nos identifica como humanos y qué es lo que nos diferencia de una copia hecha 100% a nuestra semejanza. Lamentablemente, Michael Bay parece no tener cabeza para experimentar con esas cosas. Ya sabemos que lo suyo es hacer que la explosión de un auto o el derrumbe de un edificio se vea de lo mejor en sus películas y ya.

Last but not least, let's talk about what Michael Bay really stands out for compared to other famous directors of this era. The audiovisual aspect of this film is fascinating, especially considering that it was made 20 years ago. The use of moving cameras, excellent transitions, slow motion, and the use of light and shadow is top-notch. The same goes for the practical and computer-generated visual effects. The views of the desert or the futuristic city in this film are fascinating, as is the entire underground bunker where the clones are located. The use of printed memories or mind control that we see in this film is an interesting nod to the theme of substitute identities and the like.

The clothing styles and makeup in this film are also interesting, especially how the people under the bunker dress and how they differ from how people dress in the outside world. The details of the clones being formed in piles of cocoons also give the film an unsettling touch, as do the white corridors and rooms with cameras running 24/7. The sound effects are very well done, as Michael always manages to do well in this type of work. But the best thing is the soundtrack, which always manages to heighten the emotion of each moment to its maximum level. In short, this film is not at all what it appears to be. So if you're a fan of action thrillers more than science fiction, then I invite you to watch it.

Personally, I give it a rating of 8/10 in terms of the action, suspense, and science fiction genres.

El tema audiovisual de esta película es fascinante, sobre todo al saber que está hecha hace 20 años ya. El uso de cámaras en movimiento, las excelentes transiciones, las cámaras lentas, el uso de sombras y luces es de lo mejor. Lo mismo sucede con los efectos visuales prácticos y hechos por computadora. Las vistas del desierto o de la ciudad futurista en esta película es fascinante, lo mismo va con todo el búnker que hay debajo de la tierra donde se encuentran los clones. El uso de memorias impresas o control mental que vemos en esta película es un guiño interesante sobre el tema de identidades sustitutas y cosas por el estilo.

El tema de los estilos de vestimenta y maquillajes que tiene esta película también se ve interesante, sobre todo con cómo se visten las personas debajo del búnker y cómo estos se diferencian con cómo se viste la gente en el mundo exterior. Los detalles de los clones siendo formados en montones de capullos también le da ese toque inquietante a la película, lo mismo con los pasillos blancos y las habitaciones con cámaras encendidas 24/7. Los efectos de sonido están muy bien hechos, tal y como Michael consigue hacer bien este tipo de trabajos. Pero lo mejor es su banda sonora donde sabemos que siempre consigue elevar la emoción de cada momento hasta su máximo nivel. En resumen, esta película no es para nada lo que aparenta. Así que si eres fan de los thrillers de acción más que la ciencia ficción, entonces te invito a verla.

Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 8/10 en lo que respecta al género de acción, suspenso y ciencia ficción.

Certain structural and conceptual limitations, inherent in its unique format and self-contained setting, occasionally resulted in episodes that felt constrained, their narrative resolutions somewhat telegraphed to modern sensibilities. While these shortcomings were likely imperceptible, or at least forgivable, to audiences in the late 1960s – encountering such bold experimentation for the first time – they become increasingly apparent today. Contemporary viewers, steeped in decades of sophisticated television drama that has both built upon and refined The Prisoner’s legacy, possess a heightened critical lens. It is against this backdrop that the series’ second episode, The Chimes of Big Ben, reveals itself as a fascinating, yet ultimately flawed, entry – a work of high quality momentarily tripped by the very framework that defined the show’s brilliance.

Nevertheless, The Chimes of Big Ben maintains the series’ generally high production values and features exceptional performances. Nadia’s identification of the Village on the "Baltic coast of Lithuania" (a Soviet republic at the time, alongside Estonia and Latvia) is presented as concrete fact within the episode. However, Lithuania’s coastline is minuscule compared to Estonia’s or Latvia’s, and the specific conflation of Estonian identity (Nadia) with a Lithuanian location feels geographically muddled even by Cold War-era Western standards. More critically, in the current geopolitical climate, where the precise borders, histories, and national identities of the East Europe are subjects of intense global focus and conflict, such casual conflation appears jarringly uninformed.

In conclusion, The Chimes of Big Ben stands as a testament to The Prisoner’s ambition and quality, boasting stellar performances and a potent Cold War narrative that effectively explores the series’ central themes of deception and control. McKern and Gray deliver compelling work within the Village’s gilded cage. However, its position as only the second episode fatally compromises its central narrative device, making the supposedly shocking return to the Village feel less like a masterstroke and more like a structural necessity rendered predictable by the show’s own premise. *The Prisone’s genius lies in its totality; individual episodes, like this one, inevitably bear the marks of their time and format, reminding us that even masterpieces are not immune to the passage of years and the evolution of audience expectation.

I am 110% sure to say and not crazy but this is a good movie and the truth is that I really enjoy what I saw. This is a horror movie but no in the way you think that only shows ghost for no reason, there are scary scene that make you think shit that kid is possessed but is not is a condition, you see that plot twists in this story are relevant leading a path for a unexpected true. I will give you a little bit of context, the story is about Ellison a crime writer who moves with his family into a new house, the house is a special one because a whole family got murdered there like a year before, hanging form a tree in the backyard and thats is an information that Ellison decided to keep for himself, obvious I´m pretty sure that any wife will be happy to move her children to a creepy please with such dark past. One day when Ellison was in the attic he found an old box with some random home movies, he decided to watch the 8 films and realized that there were not those kind of home movies with families having fun, swimming in the pool, doing barbecue or just hanging in the couch relaxing, no, these tapes show families getting brutally killed in the most twisted way possible and when I mean the whole is kids included, every single tape was worse than the previous one and unfortunately this discovering takes Ellison and his family to a dark journey of no return.

Thinking about Ellison decision to live in a house where a horrendous murder occurred and take his family with him is really twisted but that´s the way the director present how desperate is Ellison to create a new book that will earned him the recognition he is looking for, at the moment he found the tapes a normal person would call the police but Ellison mind doesn´t work like that he just decided that he has a great story on his hands even thought his decision of not call the police his destiny connect him with the deputy of the town an it happen because one night when Ellison was watching the tapes he heard a strange noise but he didn´t find anything only a large hole in his attic through which he passed and fell to the lower floor for that reason a report was made the next day so the deputy take the case realizing who was Ellison letting him know that he is a huge fan. Since that moment this two men become partners but while the deputy was trying to solve the crimes Ellison used all his influence to recover information for his book, yeah he really doesn´t care about all those people dead he was obsessed with fame and fortune and will do anything to achieved his dream or that is what he thought. We are witness how this paid work connecting all the murders across different time periods and showing us the the responsable of all those murders was Mr. Boogie an entity that appeared in every tape and that at the end apparently was the responsible of all the murders and the missing children of every family.

I am at the point where I really want the family to leave that place. Everything is getting worse every day, including Ellison children, Trevor is suffering of night terrors that if they don´t explain that is a kid condition you truly believed that he is possessed because the way that kid act at those moments is more than creepy and Ashly is painting pictures in the walls, that are more visions of the missing kids that by the way she can see them even though all that shit is happening at the house Ellison decided to stay because is more important for him recover his successful past but when his wife finally knows the truth she made him decided to all leave the house or she will leave with her kids and if he wants to stay he can do it. Obviously they decided to leave the house being sure that all evil will stay there, also Ellison burn all the tapes because he doesn´t want anything from that house but they will received a surprise. I think well I can understand all the effort that Ellison is doing to be better in his career but damn bro putting all your family in danger instead of keep them safe make Ellison a selfish jackass.

I know I said that the movie is good and talking about the acting and the story is good but theres some thing that are bad here for example the ghost children, shit the CGI on that point is terrible, once the ghost children start showing up you notice that they look like kids dressed up for Halloween rather than genuinely frightening spirits also the whole mythology around Bughuul feels rushed and underdeveloped compared to the careful buildup in the earlier scenes. When Professor Jonas explains over Skype that Bughuul lives in the images themselves and uses them to possess children, it should be this chilling revelation but instead it feels like exposition dumping to explain plot points that don't really make sense. The ghost are not good, the aspect of the Bughuul looks more like a rocker than a demon, hahaha was funny but take the seriousness a little bit for me. Something that I do like was the end was really unexpected for me, after Ellison burn the tapes and live the hunted house the family returned to their previous house and when he goes to the attic, what he found?, yees the tapes and a new one that obvious he watched and the climax arrived, the secret is revealed, is not that the Bughuul only take the children of every family what is that he possessed them making them killed their families, wao for me was mind blowing, I though well the demon was the one the killed everyone but no was the kids who made the nasty job, good twist.

A father obsessed with a past glory, a hunted house, families murdered, children in danger and a demon who possessed the missing kids, well probably is not the perfect formula but it work. At the beginning I truly believed that was a serial killer who made all those horrible killing to those poor families but no was a demon that wasn´t scary and that´s the part where probably the movie falters a little and with the CGI because those ghost children were terrible but more than that I do like the movie, Ethan Hawke as always giving his 100% in every performance and here didn´t disappoint. Also the tapes were the cherry of the cake, there is show all the cruelty of the murder, every scene of those families dying is painful, drowned in a pool, hanged up in a tree also the use of lawnmower to kill, the demon was really creative but more than that is a movie that you can enjoy, is not a 10 but if you decided to avoid the bad things mention here and see it you will be glad for what you are going to see.

The farther Peter and Rose dug, the messier it all became.

I was just expecting the usual FBI chase, gunshots, car crashes—basically popcorn entertainment. But as the episodes rolled out, I found myself sinking deeper into Peter Sutherland’s world, like I was right there with him, watching his every move, second-guessing who to trust, and feeling that paranoia crawl over my skin.

The story kicks off with Peter, this low-level FBI agent stuck on night duty, answering a phone that never rings—until one night, it does. And the way that phone call shifts his entire life had me holding my breath. A panicked voice, Rose’s voice, comes through the line, and in that moment I swear my heart skipped. Imagine being the guy who’s always overlooked, sitting in that dimly lit room, and suddenly you’re pulled into the center of a conspiracy that could eat you alive. I could almost feel his mix of fear and adrenaline.

What hit me was how authentic the trust issues felt. Every scene made me wonder: who's really on his side? Rose, the tech CEO's niece who suddenly becomes his ally, felt like a character who you could never completely pin down. Their chemistry wasn't the over-the-top, fake kind, just a tentative, careful connection you form because your survival may be at stake with someone else. And the more I watched, the more I noticed I was holding my breath each time they were cornered. Like that scene on the subway, where Peter had to choose in the blink of an eye whether to fight or run, I was whispering to the screen as if it was a friend, "Don't trust him... don't trust her... just run!"

The farther Peter and Rose dug, the messier it all became. High ranking officials, betrayals, cover-ups, it was just like an onion where every layer stunk more than the next. The whole mole in the White House thing gave me the shivers because it wasn't just guns and fists anymore, it was betrayal at the top. And that feeling when you realize the people that are supposed to protect you are pulling the strings? That got me thinking about real life, about the way trust is actually a fragile thing.

One of the scenes that stuck out in my memory was when Peter had to face the fact that his father's history wasn't what he had believed. That vulnerable point in me fell open a little bit, because you could tell how much weight he was carrying with him-not just his own decisions, but the shadow of his father's name. It brought to mind the times we discover something about someone we love that shatters the ground beneath what we thought was true. I felt for him in that moment, torn between duty, truth and the ache of not really knowing where you come from.

And then there's Rose - she was not just the sidekick or the love interest; she had her own battles, her own mourning, and I felt like she became this reflection for Peter's doubts and struggle. The quiet moments between some of them did more than the action. Like when they got down, tired, and looked at one another with the silent fear of what if we don't make it out of this? That vulnerability was such a human emotion, such a raw one.

By the time the big reveals began to fall, my trust was broken as bad as Peter's. All the switching of allegiances, betrayals by the powers-that-be - it infuriated me, I'll tell you. Angry as in the story was too close to the corruption we hear about in the real world. But there was also this relief, this satisfaction when Peter finally started owning his position, not as the guy on night duty but as the man who could actually stop the melee.

I won’t lie, finishing The Night Agent left me with mixed emotions. On one hand, I felt proud of Peter, like watching a friend grow into who they’re meant to be. On the other hand, it left me uneasy, because the betrayals and twists reminded me that trust is such a fragile thing—in governments, in friendships, even in love. It made me wonder how I would react if the rug was pulled out from under me like that.

That’s the thing with this show—it’s not just about explosions and conspiracies. It’s about paranoia, trust, betrayal, and the heavy silence of doubt that follows you even after the noise stops.

However, the house of their mother, who temporarily adopted them, hides mysteries they can't imagine. Within a claustrophobic reality, they must fight to escape as quickly as possible.

The horror movie produced by A24 remains extremely effective at its intended purpose, even if, in cases like this one, there's a lack of narrative depth in its main context. However, it's provocative enough to make the audience sweat in their seats as the plot unfolds. Here we have a drama mixed with suspense, with strong touches of gore within a suffocating atmosphere, which tends to worsen as events take on truly terrifying and brutal dimensions.

In the story, when two siblings (Andy and Piper, a blind girl) find themselves lost after the loss of their father, they are taken by child welfare services to a foster home. Laura is the woman who decided to temporarily adopt them, but what they didn't know is that this seemingly kind and helpful person (albeit with a strange and deliberately effusive temperament) is actually hiding dark secrets that will "draw" them into a reality of visceral (and quite stunning) impact as they spend more and more time there.

From the moment they arrive at the home, everything seems strange. However, even amidst peculiar attitudes, and also the need to be inserted into a socially conforming home, the siblings allow themselves to be carried away by this new reality and, as far as possible, try to adapt. Little by little, Laura subverts a possible “abandonment” (since Andy intends to ask for custody of her sister as soon as she is old enough to do so), and puts into action her evil plan to have Piper held as a “hostage” within a surreal plane.

Eschewing the most basic clichés within this cinematic genre, the script shatters audience expectations regarding the plot's outcome, delivering an explanation that, as "basic" as it may sound, still uses better narrative devices than other movies with similar themes to achieve greater weight and shape within the essence of what it attempts to construct. Evil here doesn't stem solely from the supernatural; it's essentially human within an extremely violent psychological aspect, bringing deadly consequences.

The narrative deepens in an engaging manner, adding increasingly tense layers within a plot that "envelopes" interesting concepts about family, love, longing, devotion, and the lengths a person will go to win back someone they've lost. Sparing no effort to get what she wants, everything Laura does is understandable (from a "humanistic" perspective, so to speak), but under no circumstances can it be accepted given the gravity of the events in which she is the primary agent, destroying everyone around her.

Chaos reigns, especially with the resentment of loss (a consistent and robust theme in the script, on which much of the plot is built, and how it is - deftly - maintained). The supernatural blends with real-life aspects, immersing the audience in a compelling, heavy-handed story (whether in its defining psychological aspect or its physically violent... and, at times, bloody) that also provides an opportunity for reflection on certain issues (it all depends on how you view this movie).

There's a very interesting group of characters here. Sally Hawkins plays the psychologically distraught mother in the midst of a dramatic (and very sensitive) mental process; Billy Barratt plays the older brother, who appears to have a strong personality but hides some trauma; Sora Wong plays the younger sister (who requires special care due to her visual impairment) and Jonah Wren Phillips plays a child abused in inexplicable ways. They all deliver very effective performances, but Hawkins literally steals the scenes along with young Phillips.

Bring Her Back is, without a doubt, one of the most promising and engaging horror movies of this year (and also one of the best in A24's catalog). Danny Philippou and Michael Philippou worked simultaneously here, and their directorial work is highly effective (especially the visual aspect of the horror, in its most "cannibalistic" essence). My only reservation is that the mythology presented at the beginning of the movie (and which continues throughout, albeit in a more subtle way) was treated as something "shallow" in essence.

El mal aquí no proviene únicamente de lo sobrenatural; es esencialmente humano, con un aspecto psicológico extremadamente violento, que trae consecuencias mortales.

La narrativa se profundiza de forma cautivadora, añadiendo capas cada vez más tensas a una trama que envuelve conceptos interesantes sobre la familia, el amor, el anhelo, la devoción y hasta dónde es capaz de llegar una persona para recuperar a alguien que ha perdido. Sin escatimar esfuerzos para conseguir lo que quiere, todo lo que Laura hace es comprensible (desde una perspectiva "humanista", por así decirlo), pero bajo ninguna circunstancia puede ser aceptado dada la gravedad de los acontecimientos en los que ella es la principal agente, destruyendo a todos a su alrededor.

Reina el caos, especialmente con el resentimiento por la pérdida (un tema constante y sólido en el guion, sobre el que se construye gran parte de la trama y que se mantiene con destreza). Lo sobrenatural se funde con aspectos de la vida real, sumergiendo al público en una historia cautivadora y contundente (ya sea en su aspecto psicológico determinante o en su violencia física... y, por momentos, sangrienta) que también brinda la oportunidad de reflexionar sobre ciertos temas (todo depende de cómo se vea la película).

Hay un grupo de personajes muy interesante. Sally Hawkins interpreta a la madre psicológicamente angustiada en medio de un proceso mental dramático (y muy sensible); Billy Barratt interpreta al hermano mayor, quien aparenta tener una personalidad fuerte pero esconde algún trauma; Sora Wong interpreta a la hermana menor (que requiere cuidados especiales debido a su discapacidad visual) y Jonah Wren Phillips interpreta a un niño que sufre abusos inexplicables. Todos ofrecen actuaciones muy efectivas, pero Hawkins se roba las escenas junto con el joven Phillips.

Sinopse: Depois de perderem o pai, dois irmãos adolescentes (Andy e Piper) precisam enfrentar uma realidade: viver em um lar adotivo. No entanto, a casa da mãe que os adotou temporariamente, esconde alguns mistérios que eles não conseguem imaginar. Dentro de uma realidade “claustrofóbica”, eles precisam lutar para fugir de lá o quanto antes.

O cinema de horror produzido pela A24 continua sendo extremamente eficiente no que se propõe a fazer, mesmo que, em casos como o deste filme, haja uma carência de aprofundamentos narrativos no seu contexto principal, mas que é provocante o suficiente para fazer o público suar na poltrona enquanto a trama vai sendo desenvolvida. Aqui nós temos um drama misturado com suspense, com fortes toques do horror gore dentro de uma atmosfera “asfixiante”, que tende a ficar cada vez pior à medida em que os acontecimentos ganham contornos bem aterrorizantes com “tempero” brutal.

Na trama, quando dois irmãos (Andy e Piper, que é uma menina cega) se veem perdidos após a perda do pai, eles são levados pelo conselho tutelar até um lar adotivo. Laura é a mulher que decidiu adotá-los temporariamente, mas o que eles não sabiam é que essa pessoa aparentemente amável e prestativa (ainda que com um temperamento estranho e deliberadamente efusivo), na verdade, está escondendo segredos obscuros que vão “tragá-los” para uma realidade de impacto visceral (e bastante atordoante) à medida em que eles vão ficando cada vez mais tempo dentro daquele lugar.

No entanto, mesmo em meio a atitudes peculiares, e também a necessidade de serem inseridos em uma conformidade social comportamental dentro de um lar, os irmãos se deixam levar por essa nova realidade e, na medida do possível, vão tentando se adequar. Aos poucos, Laura subverte um possível “abandono” (já que Andy pretende pedir a guarda da irmã assim que tiver idade suficiente para fazer isso), e coloca em ação seu plano maléfico para fazer com que Piper seja mantida como “refém” dentro de um plano surreal.

Fugindo dos clichês mais básicos dentro desse segmento cinematográfico, o roteiro quebra as expectativas do público quanto ao desfecho da trama, entregando uma explicação que por mais “básica” que possa soar, ainda usa de melhores artifícios narrativos dos que os demais filmes com temáticas semelhantes para conseguir ganhar mais peso, e também mais forma dentro da essência do que tenta construir. O mal aqui não é advindo apenas do lado mais sobrenatural, ele é essencialmente humano dentro de um aspecto psicológico extremamente violento, trazendo consequências mortais.

O aprofundamento narrativo vai acontecendo de uma maneira envolvente, adicionando camadas cada vez mais tensas dentro de uma trama que vai “envelopando” conceitos interessantes sobre família, amor, saudade, devoção e até onde uma pessoa pode ir para conseguir de volta alguém que já perdeu. Sem medir esforços para conseguir o que quer, tudo o que Laura faz é passivo de compreensão (olhando por um aspecto “humanístico”, por assim dizer), mas sob hipótese alguma pode ser aceito pela gravidade dos fatos aos quais ela é o agente primário, destruindo a todos em seu entorno.

O caos reina, mais com o ressentimento da perda (que é um tema consistente e robusto no roteiro, no qual uma boa parte da trama é construída, e como a mesma é - habilmente - mantida de pé). O sobrenatural se mistura com aspectos da vida real, fazendo o público mergulhar numa estória envolvente, de carga pesada (seja em seu determinante aspecto psicológico, ou na sua abordagem fisicamente violenta... e em alguns momentos, sanguinolentas) e que traz também uma oportunidade de reflexão sobre determinados assuntos (tudo dependerá de como você vai olhar para este filme).

Há um grupo de personagens bem interessante aqui. Sally Hawkins dá vida a mãe psicologicamente atordoada no meio de um processo mentalmente dramático (e muito sensível); Billy Barratt vive o irmão mais velho, que aparentemente tem personalidade aparentemente forte, mas esconde alguns trauma; Sora Wong vive a irmã mais nova (que demanda cuidados especiais pela sua deficiência visual) e Jonah Wren Phillips é uma criança abusada de maneiras inexplicáveis. Todos eles entregam atuações bastante eficientes, mas Hawkins literalmente rouba as cenas junto com o jovem Phillips.

Faça Ela Voltar é, sem dúvidas, um dos filmes de horror mais promissores e envolventes deste ano (e também um dos melhores dentro do catálogo da A24). Danny Philippou e Michael Philippou trabalharam simultaneamente aqui, e todo o trabalho no comando da direção que foi feito por eles é muito funcional (principalmente o aspecto visual do horror, na sua essência mais “canibalesca”). Minha única ressalva fica pelo fato da mitologia apresentada no início do filme (e que se mantém ao longo do mesmo, mas de um jeito mais sutil) ter sido tratada como algo mais “raso” na sua essência.

¡Hola amigos! Hoy me paso por acá para traerles mi reseña acerca de la nueva película de un clásico del slasher como lo es Se lo que hicieron el verano pasado. Ya les adelanto que, al contrario de la opinión popular, me sorprendió para bien.

En esta ocasión seguimos a un grupo de 5 jóvenes que están celebrando el 4 de julio en Southport. Allí provocan un accidente y alguien muere, pero ellos hacen el pacto de no contar a nadie lo sucedido. Todo marcha normal, hasta que el año siguiente los vuelve a unir en el mismo lugar y reciben un anónimo de alguien que sabe lo que hicieron el verano pasado, por lo que están siendo acechados por este sujeto misterioso vestido como pescador con un garfio que los intentará asesinar uno a uno. Lo que ellos tienen que establecer es la conexión con la masacre ocurrida en 1997 con el mismo modus operandi y descubrir quién es el asesino esta vez antes de que sea demasiado tarde.

This time, we follow a group of five young people celebrating the Fourth of July in Southport. There, they cause an accident and someone dies, but they make a pact not to tell anyone what happened. Everything goes on as normal until the following year, when they meet again in the same place and receive an anonymous letter from someone who knows what they did last summer. They are being stalked by this mysterious figure dressed as a fisherman with a hook, who will try to kill them one by one. What they have to establish is the connection with the massacre that occurred in 1997 with the same modus operandi and discover who the killer is this time before it's too late.

Si les soy sincera no le tenía casi nada de fe a esta nueva entrega, pero había leído una reseña por acá que me animó a darle una oportunidad y al final resultó mejor de lo esperado. Hace muchísimo de la última vez que vi estas películas, por lo que no la tenía tan fresco, pero me impactó que fui rememorando cosas a medida que transcurría la trama. La parte en la que empiezan a aparecer los sobrevivientes de la masacre de 1997 fue genial, me trajo muchos recuerdos. Que bueno que pudieron hacerlo con los actores originales de ese entonces. También me gustó que incluyeran varios guiños a las versiones pasadas.

To be honest, I had almost no faith in this new installment, but I had read a review here that encouraged me to give it a chance, and in the end, it turned out better than expected. It's been a long time since I last saw these movies, so I didn't remember them very well, but I was struck by how I started to remember things as the plot unfolded. The part where the survivors of the 1997 massacre start to appear was great; it brought back a lot of memories. It's great that they were able to do it with the original actors from back then. I also liked that they included several nods to the previous versions.

La película me resultó bastante entretenida, aunque claro, un poco floja en cuanto a profundidad y buscarle un sentido racional a todo esto. Pero cumplió su función y la encontré más atrapante de lo que pensaba en primera instancia. Incluso llegué a encariñarme con los nuevos protagonistas, aunque algunos se me hacían muy tontos. Siento que es una película que busco ser irónica en varios momentos, entonces hubo partes que daban risa en vez de miedo.

I found the film quite entertaining, although, of course, a little weak in terms of depth and finding a rational meaning to it all. But it served its purpose, and I found it more captivating than I initially thought. I even grew fond of the new protagonists, although some of them seemed very silly to me. I feel like it's a movie that tries to be ironic at various points, so there were parts that were funny rather than scary.

Con respecto a las escenas sangrientas de muertes, si debo decir que algunas me dieron mucha impresión, pero eso le dio el toque. También intenté averiguar quién podría estar detrás de todo esto y no acerté, soy muy mala detective. La verdad es que me sorprendió muchísimo el giro final, no lo vi venir hasta que lo tuve en mi nariz. Aunque fue efectivo y me dio mucha curiosidad por lo que hagan en una próxima entrega.

As for the bloody death scenes, I have to say that some of them really shocked me, but that added to the story. I also tried to figure out who could be behind it all, but I didn't get it right—I'm a terrible detective. The truth is that I was really surprised by the final twist. I didn't see it coming until it was right under my nose. Although it was effective and made me very curious about what they'll do in the next installment.

Quizá algunas cosas me parecieron demasiado fantasiosas para mi gusto, como que no llegaron a ser muy creíbles, pero bueno, ya está hecho. Por lo pronto quedé satisfecha con lo que vi y me causó mucha gracia que una de las actrices protagónicas fuera la misma de la película que les traje reseña la semana pasada. En definitiva, fue una buena producción a pesar de sus falencias, la disfruté bastante y me sentí algo nostálgica. All in all, it was a good production despite its flaws. I enjoyed it quite a bit and felt somewhat nostalgic. I guess they tried to appeal to old fans and also attract new ones. We'll see if they succeeded or not. I'd like to see more of these movies. The ending was open-ended, and I want to know how they'll continue it. So, I highly recommend it.

Jonathan, also known as Jo, is a photographer whose dream is to have a solo photo exhibition. He has traveled everywhere to get good photos. His specialty is climate change. On his birthday, he asked his best friend to give his photos to the exhibition organizer, but who would have thought that the next day he would be visited by an uninvited guest claiming to be his wife from the future. Jo thought it was a prank by his friend. How strange, Jo thought. But gradually, Sore is able to prove that she is indeed Jo's wife from the future. Sore proves that she is indeed Jo's wife from the future by mentioning Jo's little habits, things only Jo knows, secrets from the past, and details about Jo's family. Amazed at the Interval

I was very interested in seeing SORE in theaters—usually I wait for any film on Netflix—because of the cast and the web series. Yes, this film stars my favorites, Dion Wiyoko & Sheila Dara. Having watched their films several times, I no longer doubt the quality of the stories in their selections. Furthermore, the director, Yandi Laurens, is also one of the most creative directors ever in Indonesia, so there was no reason to wait long, even though I had already watched the web series version.

It's started with a web series created to promote a healthy, sugar-free lifestyle. I'd watched the web series and it was excellent, so when I saw the film version, I didn't expect the director to make it even more challenging. I felt my adrenaline pumping as the film entered its intermission. I was amazed and couldn't wait to see what would happen next.

Watching a film with a "coming from the future" theme is indeed tense, and the time warp shown in the film can be tiring at times. I really wanted to see the main character achieve his goal. But that's where Yandi Laurens' creativity lies in this film.

This film became the highest-grossing film, having been in theaters for approximately two months. It makes me proud to see a romantic film—even one that doesn't relate to our real lives—become the highest-grossing film in theaters. If this film airs on OTT, I'll definitely watch it again. I really liked the ending, which is completely different from the ending in the web series. Half of the film feels like a different movie, and that's a very good point. Yandi himself said he felt challenged to present something audiences would look for in the film version, and he totally succeeded. Audiences really loved that 'something different.' Finally, I was amazed by how he included 'time' in the credits. If we think about it, time does play a significant role in this film.

I rate this film 5 out of 5 stars; OUTSTANDING!!!

Twisted Metal season 2 review - Better than season 1 [ENG-ESP]

Two years ago I watched the first season of this series and although it wasn’t great it wasn’t terrible either, I was expecting a lot more action and car racing because it was based on a pretty wild video game, but after the last chapter I thought that maybe the intention of that first season was to introduce the main characters and the rest of the characters that would participate in the Twisted Metal tournament. At that time I did not write a review, because the series had not awakened that desire to tell something, either good or bad so I refrained, but this second season is hot, each chapter is loaded with adrenaline and we see tests in which they literally risk their lives, so here I am.

Hace dos años que vi la primera temporada de esta serie y aunque no fue la gran cosa tampoco era terrible, me esperaba mucha más acción y carreras de autos por estar basada en un juego de video bastante salvaje, pero luego del último capítulo pensé que tal vez la intención de esa primera temporada era dar a conocer a los personajes principales y al resto de los personajes que participarían en el torneo de Twisted Metal. En aquella oportunidad no escribí una reseña, pues la serie no había despertado esas ganas de contar algo, ya sea bueno o malo así que me abstuve, pero está segunda temporada es candela, cada capítulo está cargado de adrenalina y vemos pruebas en la que se juegan la vida literalmente, así que aquí estoy.

Now we just have to wait for the third season where John and his companions will have a new mission that was already revealed in the last episode of this season.

En esta segunda parte es donde empieza la acción, nos volvemos a encontrar personajes de la temporada anterior y conocemos nuevos, uno más extraño que el otro, hasta podría decir que repugnante, también a Calipso que vendría siendo el creador del torneo y de cada una de las pruebas que los participantes tienen que superar para ganar y obtener un deseo. Esta temporada tiene la esencia de un juego de video, cada escena que involucra una carrera es apasionante pues los personajes te transmiten esa emoción de querer ganar sin importar lo que tengan que hacer, pues aquí no hay reglas así que la muerte de un oponente es una de las estrategias para ganar y las escenas fuera de las pistas también tienen ese encanto pues cada personaje de los que van quedando en el torneo tiene una historia que aportar y como dije son peligrosos y asesinos a sangre fría, con un aire cómico y repugnante. Es muy interesante, no me imaginé que me gustaría porque no es el tipo de producciones que persigo pero estoy abriendo mis horizontes.

Es una explosión literal de adrenalina que vale la pena ver si logras sobrevivir a la primera temporada, porque también creo que para disfrutar de esta necesitas ver la anterior así que si en algún momento pierdes el interés y quieres dejarla recuerda que en la segunda temporada es que se pone buena la cosa. Ahora solo queda esperar la tercera temporada donde John y sus acompañantes tendrán una nueva misión que ya nos la dieron a conocer en el último capítulo de esta temporada.

I pull the trigger with The Terminal List Dark Wolf without even knowing there was already a Terminal List series, from what I understand Dark Wolf is a prequel and for this kind of content you really need to leave your brain at the door and take it for what it is, there is going to be a lot of unbelievable stunts and shooting, the NAVY SEAL story wont add up for the most part on how they operate, dress, look, its all Hollywood style so its not a documentary by any means. When it comes to action the series is very good at it but dont ask for over the top smart drama plot because its not, as I said take it for what it is, a cool action packed series and not a documentary of how NAVY SEALS operate, I mean what are the odds you are a long hair, bearded, chief working in Iraq and got kicked out of the NAVY SEALS for going rogue and then hired back to go black ops through a private contract to catch the same guy, cmon.

The series follows Ben Edwards played by Taylor Kitsch who gets his hands dirty in Iraq back in 2015 training Iraqi Special Forces and things go sideways real quick when a prisoner exchange with ISIS turns into a bloodbath, the whole setup reminds me of those 90s action movies where everything that can go wrong does go wrong. Chris Pratt shows up as James Reese but honestly its more like a cameo to pass the torch to Kitsch and I think Kitsch does a way better job than Pratt ever did in the original series, well I say this from clips I have seen from the OG series, I plan to watch that one too and go with season recaps since its two season only, the guy just looks more believable as a spec ops operator than Pratt who always looks like he is trying too hard to be serious. The show starts with this funeral scene and then jumps back seven years to show us how Ben ended up being the guy on Reese list and the whole time you know where this is going but its still entertaining to watch him make all the wrong choices that lead him down that path. What I really enjoyed about these first three episodes is how they dont try to make Ben some kind of superhuman, he gets beat up, he makes mistakes, he lets his emotions get the better of him and that feels more real than watching someone just mow down bad guys without breaking a sweat.

Episode one starts with this very intense scene that loos like out of a War Zone season with this prisoner exchange on a bridge in Mosul where they are supposed to trade this ISIS leader for eighteen hostages and of course everything goes to hell when it turns out the hostages have bombs strapped to them, the whole scene is pretty intense and you can feel the chaos when those explosions start going off. After that mess Ben gets back to base and finds out that his interpreter friend who lost his leg in the bridge incident has reenlisted even though Ben told him to take his family and go to Disney World, which by the way is probably the most unrealistic part of the whole show. The guy gets a prosthetic leg but it turns out to be packed with explosives and he ends up blowing himself up at the mess hall killing seven people including his own family, the whole thing is brutal and you can see how its going to mess with Ben emotionally. Everything goes to hell for Ben when he finds out that the ISIS leader who put everything together is actually a CIA informant, so basically the good guys are protecting the bad guy who just killed his friend and a bunch of innocent people, without taking in consideration the soldiers that went down at the bridge. Ben decides to go rogue and locate the informant but things go off rails when they had the informant and Ben realize ha had his interpreter's daughter as a prisoner, he recognize her voice and thats when he lost it and kill the guy, anyway they were on deep sht by going rogue and this gets him and his buddy kicked out of the SEALs, and thats where the real story starts because they get recruited by this CIA guy who wants them to do the dirty work that official channels cant touch. The second and third episodes move away from the military stuff and turn into more of a spy thriller with Ben going undercover in Europe to track down terrorists who are trying to buy nuclear materials, also involve with the bridge and the interpreter bombing, this is where the show starts to feel more like Mission Impossible than Black Hawk Down. The nuclear bomb plot feels kind of generic, you have this Iranian professor who is selling nuclear secrets, you have Russian arms dealers, you have nightclubs in Berlin and chases through European cities, its like they took every spy movie cliche and threw them all together.

The action scenes are definitely the highlight of these episodes, there is this fight in a nightclub that reminded me of John Wick with all the creative ways they use the environment to take out bad guys, honestly its even better than Ballerina (2025) a John Wick spin off when it comes to action scenes, and there is this tunnel chase scene that is shot to look like one continuous take which is pretty impressive even if its obviously edited together. What bothers me about the spy stuff is how convenient everything is, they need to get into a secure location and boom they have a hacker who can disable all the security systems, they need to impersonate someone and boom they have the perfect disguise, they need weapons and boom there is a secret arms dealer who happens to be in the exact right place. The show works better when its focused on the emotional stuff between the characters, like watching Ben struggle with his guilt over not saving his friend or seeing how the violence is affecting his relationship with his wife back home who eventually dumps him over the phone. Tom Hopper does a good job as the guy trying to keep Ben from going completely off the rails and there is this whole subplot about him having issues with the CIA because of something that happened to his family but they dont really explain it enough for you to care about it. What I think the show does well is showing how these guys are not invincible super soldiers, they get hurt, they make bad decisions, they have emotional problems that affect their judgment and that makes them more interesting than the typical action hero who never misses a shot and always has the perfect one liner.

By the end of episode three you can see where the story is going, Ben is getting deeper into the CIA world, enjoys it, starts to put his mission first and making choices that distance him from his old values, his marriage is falling apart, and he is starting to become the kind of person who would eventually put everything aside to finish the mission. Episode three has a great action scene with Mo making a trade for some Nuclear bearings that cost them $5M on the spot, Ben and his team discover that Iranian scientists are working on nuclear weapons with help from Russian arms dealers, which gives them a ongoing mission one after another and he gets very involve into going to the end of this but the thing is that there is no ending, there is always a new mission. If you are looking for a realistic series about military operations or intelligence work this is not going to satisfy you, but if you want to watch Taylor Kitsch shoot bad guys in exotic locations while brooding about his choices then this will probably work for you. The production of the series is very good, it looks like they use a lot of practical effects and real stunts instead of going crazy with CGI, good cinematography and solid action choreography, its true that some of the CGI explosions look a bit cheap and the European locations sometimes feel like they are trying too hard to look cinematic. Overall I would say these first three episodes are entertaining enough for what they are, mindless action with just enough character development to make you care about what happens to the main characters, so far I havent feel the need for more context for any of the characters. The show knows what it is and doesnt try to be something it isnt, which feels great even if it means the storytelling is pretty predictable and makes it very easy to understand and follow for anyone new to the series like me who have not seen the OG series, I give it a 7/10 for the first three episodes. This kinda release makes a bit angry when it comes to writing recaps, its just too much content to put into a 1000 to 2000 words long blog post without making it ultra extensive, but if you try to separate it into pieces then you are always behind so I decided to go with it on this one and keep releasing episode recaps one by one for the rest with four more episode to go, one per week.

Healer: A classic Kdrama (Review)
Whenever I think about what actually first got me into Kdramas, Healer always comes to mind. It's not just the plot alone but what I was feeling while I was watching it. The late night binge, me blushing each time Ji Chang Wook appeared on the screen and the combination of romance, mystery and action. I still say it, even till now, that Healer is the Kdrama that made me fall for Ji Chang Wook and in love with Kdramas even more.

The Plot

Healer (2014) is about Seo Jung-hoo, played by Ji Chang Wook. He is a night courier operating under the codename "Healer". He is the kind of guy they called when they wanted something done in the shadows, whether it's moving sensitive materials from point A to point B or getting into places thought to be impossible to get into, but he never killed. But everything changed when he took a job involving Chae Young Shin (Park Min-Young), a reporter with a troubled past. What started as a simple mission then turns into something deeper. Jung Hoo learns that he and Young Shin are connected by an incident from decades ago, caused by a group of idealistic friends who were silenced in the past. As the drama continues, the ruthless media tycoon Kim Moon Ho (Yoo Ji-tae) gets involved and secrets about family, betrayal and hidden truths come crashing down.

Healer still feels so much more than just another Kdrama to me, even with the chases, the mellow romance and the twist that stunned me.

I cannot even lie, this drama had me hooked from episode one. Ji Chang Wook as Healer was just perfect. He carried that mysterious and dangerous aura but the moment he became the shy "Bong Soo" at the office, I was gone. The duality in his acting was just wow. Park Min-Young also did so well in her role. Their chemistry was natural, warm and full of sparks.

The romance was one of my favourite parts. It wasn't rushed or forced, it just grew naturally as the drama continued. The way Healer protected and loved Young Shin, not just physically but emotionally, made me melt. And let's not forget the action scenes. They were slick, intense and actually believable (which you can't always say for dramas). But beyond the romance and fights, Healer has depth and it balanced everything beautifully.

I still recommend Healer to anyone who asks me for a good Kdrama to start with

My Rating

I think Healer is timeless. It's the drama that gave me Ji Chang Wook as my forever favourite and its one I'll never forget. Everything from the plot, to the performance, to the rest of it, all just made sense together.

That being said, I rate it a 5 out of 5 stars.

The Naked Gun (2025) || Movie Review
While looking for some movies to watch to pass time yesterday, I came across this movie titled "The Naked Gun".

Seeing one of my favorite action movie characters, Liam Neeson, I immediately added it to my watchlist.

Movie Plot

The movie follows Liam Neeson as Frank Drebin Jr. a Lieutenant of the LAPD police squad who worked with other members of the squad to stop a doomsday device meant to bring about the end of the world.

What I liked/hated about the movie

I was some minutes into the movie before I ask myself what I had stumbled into. I don't know if I should say I hated it, that might be too extreme but I really didn't enjoy the movie at all. I mean what was that?

I knew Liam Neeson's role in movies for his saviour complex. I saw all of the TAKEN franchise and really enjoyed them. Though I would say it's good to see a change from his serious demeanor but they really didn't have to go all the way to make his character so wack.

It was because I saw him on the movie poster that made me decide to watch it immediately as I thought it would deliver an action-thrilling kind that is known for his movies but I must say I am super disappointed.

He did save the world and his character in the movie wasn't written as the usual "special skills savior" but maybe it would have been better if it was. I mean it would definitely be better than this weak show of his character.

Even the villian’s character, Richard Cane (played by Danny Huston) was also nothing to write home about. I thought villians in “action movies” was supposed to exude a terrifying presence? But then…

There are some scenes that I find kinda dumb. The script is so weak and most of the jokes don't sound funny at all. Only one or two scenes managed to bring out a little smile (albeit a weak one) from my face and that was it.

I don't know which category to put it in. Is it an action movie or a comedy movie? Newsflash, it is none. It doesn't even qualify as a crime comedy.

Upon further research on the movie, it turned out there is a franchise of "The Naked Gun". Maybe if I get around to seeing them all, it probably might change my review a bit. But till then, I can only say I don't seem to understand what the characters' performances in The Naked Gun (2025) is all about or why the script was poorly written.

Dont waste your time watching this movie. I am giving it a rating of 4 out of 10.

Sin embargo, la madrastra y cuñada ambiciosas logran que Gisela sea entregada a gitanos que llevan un circo itinerante.

Veinte años después, el circo regresa al pueblo: Mendoza y su hermana Yolanda reconocen en Gisela el rostro de Miriam y sospechan que es la heredera perdida. Al enterarse, el ambicioso Rolando gemelo de Juan Carlos se casa con ella con el único propósito de apropiarse de su fortuna. En la noche de bodas, Gisela descubre sus verdaderas intenciones y vuelve al circo. Rolando es asesinado y Gisela es acusada injustamente. Juan Carlos, creyendo su culpabilidad, planea vengarse haciéndose pasar por su hermano muerto.

Peregrina destaca por su carga dramática bien estructurada, con una protagonista fuerte atrapada entre el engaño y la búsqueda de identidad. Rebeca González, en los papeles duales de la madre y la hija, entregó una interpretación cargada de sensibilidad, mientras que José Bardina aportó profundidad al encarnar a los gemelos con matices claramente diferenciados.
