Hello friends, it is a pleasure to be with you again, to be able to share my experiences in this world of cinema and television, this time I bring you an action film, The Amateur, it is a film that has everything, from terrorism to the incessant search for revenge. I'll give you a summary so you know what it's about. I hope you enjoy it.

The film begins with Charly Heller, a cryptographer who works at the CIA with a perfect life. He has his wife Sara and together they are happy. His passion is to restore an old plane that he plans to give as a gift to his wife. Charly has a friend called the Bear, and during his work an external source called Inding sends him classified files from the director of operations, called Moor, which reveals that he launches politically motivated drone attacks causing terrorist attacks. One morning they get ready for work, but Sara has to travel to London where we later see that she dies as a result of a terrorist attack. Now Charly is at work, the Director of the CIA is the one who notifies him of the news of his wife's death. Devastated he begins to investigate the murderers, after a while he manages to identify them, he goes to tell the Director of Operations Moor but when he tells him he realizes that he knew everything, but Charly does not give up telling him what he knew about their terrorist attacks. Moor tells him not to interfere and sends him to train with Colonel Henderson since Charly asks him to go in search of the murderers.

On the other hand, Moor and his assistant begin to look for the evidence that Charly has that incriminates him, but without results he orders Henderson himself to eliminate him, although Charly already knew his intentions and manages to escape by tracking down his targets. His first trip is to Europe in search of Gretchen, he finds her in an allergy clinic, where after a struggle he forces her to tell where the others are, but she runs away when she is hit by a car in the street. Charly picks up Gretchen's phone and runs off in search of another murderer in Marcella, he meets Henderson who chases him but manages to escape by blowing up the place with a bomb he sets.

Charly requests the help of Ingrid who manages to take him to Istanbul and puts him in contact with the widow of an officer murdered long ago. Together they locate another of Sara's murderers in a luxury hotel. Charly without thinking goes to him, after a fruitless conversation he does not give him the whereabouts of the Triller who is the one who killed his wife, and then he explodes the pool where he was swimming, causing his immediate death. Charly lives on, but a few minutes later they are surprised by an assault team that bursts into the house with gunfire. Although they manage to escape in the woman's car, she is wounded by a bullet and ends up dead.

Charly has to continue alone and this time he heads to Romania, there he contacts Elish with the pretext of selling him missiles and that is when he confesses the whereabouts of Triller, then he had already set a trap for him and he explodes with the truck, ending his life. He goes in search of the port trying to find the boat of his wife's murderer, but when he arrives someone hits him on the head, causing him to faint. When he wakes up he gets a surprise, he is face to face with Triller, this man explains to him that he is not a murderer, that the job got complicated and he had to make decisions. To demonstrate, he gives Charly a loaded pistol and tells him to shoot to end his revenge, but after a few minutes Charly does not do so, because he does not need to kill him, he has hacked the boat, he is heading to the Gulf of Finland where the police are waiting for his capture. With his mission over, he visits his wife's grave, calm and at peace because he did justice, and Director of Operations Moor and his assistant were caught for committing terrorism and illegal actions. Hola amigos, es un placer estar de nuevo con ustedes, poder compartir mis experiencias en este mundo del cine y la televisión, en esta ocasión les traigo un filme de acción, El amateur, es una película que tiene de todo, desde el terrorismo hasta la búsqueda incesante para la venganza. Les haré un resumen para sepan de qué va. Espero lo disfruten.

La película comienza, con Charly Heller criptógrafo que trabaja en la CIA con una vida perfecta, tiene a su esposa Sara y juntos son felices, su pasión es restaurar una vieja avioneta que piensa dársela por regalo a su esposa. Charly tiene un amigo al que le llaman el Oso, y durante su trabajo una fuente externa llamada Inding, le envía archivos clasificados del director de operaciones, llamado Moor, el cual revela que lanza ataques con drones con motivos políticos causando ataques terroristas. Una mañana se preparan para el trabajo, pero Sara tiene que viajar a Londres donde más adelante vemos que muere producto a un ataque terrorista. Ya Charly en el trabajo la Directora de la CÍA es quien le notifica la noticia de la muerte de su esposa. Devastado comienza a investigar a los asesinos, luego de un tiempo logra identificarlos, se dirige a contarle al Director de operaciones Moor pero al comunicarle se da cuenta que él sabía todo, pero Charly no se rinde diciéndole lo que sabía de sus ataques terroristas, Moor le dice que no se entrometa y lo manda a entrenar con el Coronel Henderson ya que Charly se lo pide para ir en busca de los asesinos.

Por otra parte Moor y su ayudante comienzan a buscar las pruebas que tiene Charly que lo incrimina, pero sin resultados ordena al mismo Henderson que lo elimine, aunque ya Charly sabía sus intenciones y logra escapar rastreando a sus objetivos. Su primer viaje es a Europa en busca de Gretchen, la encuentra en una clínica de alergia, donde después de un forzajeo la obliga a decir donde están los demás, pero ella sale corriendo cuando es atropellada por un carro en la calle. Charly recoge el teléfono de Gretchen y sale corriendo en busca de otro asesino en Marcella, se encuentra con Henderson que lo persigue pero logra escapar haciendo explotar el lugar con una bomba que pone.

Charly solicita la ayuda de Ingrid quien logra llevarlo hasta Estambul y lo pone en contacto con la viuda de un oficial asesinado hace tiempo atrás, juntos localizan a otro de los asesinos de Sara en un hotel de lujo. Charly sin pensarlo va hasta él, después de una conversación sin fruto este no le da el paradero del Triller que es quien mató a su esposa, y entonces hace explotar la piscina donde nadaba ocasionándole la muerte de inmediato. Charly va con la vida, pero unos minutos más tarde son sorprendidos por un equipo de asalto que irrumpen en la casa con disparos, aunque logran escapar en el carro de la mujer, está es herida por una bala y termina muerta.

Charly tiene que seguir solo y está vez se dirige hasta Rumanía, ahí contacta a Elish con el pretexto de venderle misiles y es cuando le confiesa el paradero de Triller, entonces ya le había tendido una trampa y explota con el camión terminando con su vida. Va en su búsqueda al puerto pretendiendo encontrar el barco del asesino de su esposa, pero al llegar alguien lo golpea en la cabeza desmayandolo, cuando despierta se lleva una sorpresa, está cara a cara con Triller, este hombre le explica que no es un asesino, que el trabajo se complicó y tuvo que tomar decisiones. Para demostrarle, le entrega a Charly una pistola cargada y le dice que dispare para que termine con su venganza, pero Charly después de unos minutos no lo hace, porque no necesita matarlo, ha haqueado el barco, se dirige al Golfo de Finlandia donde la policía lo está esperando para su captura. Ya dada por terminada su misión, visita la tumba de su esposa, tranquilo y en paz porque hizo justicia, además atraparon al Director de operaciones Moor y su ayudante por cometer terrorismo y acciones ilegales. Después vemos que al final sale volando la avioneta que termina reparando para su esposa. Con la salida al cine de la segunda parte de esta historia, me propuse a ponerme en contexto antes de ir a verla, aunque tal vez eso sea innecesario, pues estas películas para toda la familia, nunca tienen un contexto o una historia tan complicada detrás. Happy es un jugador de hockey, que contaba con la pasión y la agresividad para poder sobresalir, pero le faltaba algo muy importante, el talento, por lo que un día al verse mal económicamente, y a punto de perder la casa de su crianza, se interesa por el golf, como una salida para hacer bastante dinero.

With the release of the second part of this story, I decided to put myself in context before going to see it, although perhaps that's unnecessary, since these family-friendly movies never have such a complicated context or story behind them. Happy is a hockey player who had the passion and aggression to excel, but lacked something very important: talent. So one day, finding himself in a difficult financial situation and on the verge of losing the home he grew up in, he became interested in golf as a way to make some serious money.

Resulta ser un excepcional golfista con sus tiros largos, que fácilmente pasaban las 400 yardas, algo muy complicado para cualquier golfista profesional, que como mucho pasan las 300 yardas sin problemas, pero cuando se trataban de tiros cortos, que necesitan más técnica y precisión, fallaba irremediablemente, lo que ocasionaba que respondiera de manera agresiva, montando un espectáculo de malas palabras, golpes y violencia. En un deporte tan elitesco como golf, Happy se transformó en una celebridad, subiendo los ratings y llamando a un público diferente del que estamos acostumbrados, un poco más vociferantes podríamos decir, jajaja.

En el clímax de la historia, debe competir contra Shooter McGavin, uno de los mejores golfistas del momento, y alguien quien desprecia a Happy por lo que representa para el golf, quien, en un acto de pura maldad, compra la casa de su abuela y se la ofrece, con la condición de que se retire del deporte. Gilmore se toma en serio las cosas por esta provocación, lo que lo hace entrenar y mejorar su tiro corto con quien sería su mentor, Chubbs, viendo también otras subtramas como a Ben Stiller como un explotador de ancianos, o la pelea contra el caimán que le quitó la mano a Chubbs, acabando así su carrera.

Para muchos puristas de este deporte, me imaginó que ver este película debe ser un insulto, pero justo recuerdo por la década de los 90's que había un golfista muy fuera de lo normal, John Daly, quien con su ropa extravagante, su actitud desafiante, sus constantes resacas, y la caradura para cargar una caja de cigarrillos en el bolsillo, lo hicieron un personaje recordable, así como que fue capaz de ganar en un torneo al mismísimo Tiger Woods en su prime. No creo que se hayan inspirado del todo en ese deportista, el personaje de Happy realmente es alguien muy bueno, con problemas de ira, pero que al final del día solo intenta hacer el bien, y eso hace que conecte fácilmente con la gente.

For many purists of this sport, I imagine that watching this movie must be an insult, but I just remember from the 90's there was a very unusual golfer, John Daly, who with his extravagant clothes, his defiant attitude, his constant hangovers, and the nerve to carry a pack of cigarettes in his pocket, made him a memorable character, as well as being able to beat Tiger Woods in a tournament in his prime. I don't think they were entirely inspired by that athlete, the character of Happy is really someone very good, with anger issues, but at the end of the day he only tries to do good, and that makes him easily connect with people.

En cuanto a las actuaciones, todos estuvieron muy bien, es protagonista es muy querible y principal basa de humor, Julie Bowen lo hace muy bien como el interés romántico y logra desarrollar bien a su personaje, mientras que Christopher McDonald hace a un excelente villano, Shooter McGavin, quien maneja un humor más exagerado, y antogoniza muy bien, ya que al final del día, él busca preservar la esencia del deporte. Los secundarios también consiguen desarrollarse y resaltan sobre todo Bob Baker, intrepretándose a sí mismo en una pelea con Happy, y Carl Wheaters como Chubbs, el mentor y entrenador.

As for the acting, everyone was very good. The lead character is very likeable and provides the main source of humor. Julie Bowen does very well as the romantic interest and manages to develop her character well. Christopher McDonald makes an excellent villain, Shooter McGavin, who handles a more exaggerated humor and anthogonizes very well, since at the end of the day, he seeks to preserve the essence of the sport. The supporting cast also manages to develop, with Bob Baker, playing himself in a fight with Happy, and Carl Wheaters as Chubbs, the mentor and coach.

Para ser una película cómica de Adam Sandler no me pareció tan burda, hay que agradecer que tuvo un pasado donde no todos los chistes iban acompañados de una flatulencia, aunque al parecer, desde sus inicios, la comedia física siempre fue uno de sus fuertes, porque aquí fue bien utilizada. Otra cosa que me llamó la atención, es que desde la primera cinta vemos "la fórmula Sandler", es decir, un nombre que le di a la construcción de todas sus historias, donde hay un personaje femenino muy fuera de su liga que termina cediendo a sus encantos, y una complicación o problema a la mitad de la narración, que termina siendo solucionada al final.

For an Adam Sandler comedy, it didn't strike me as too crude. Thankfully, he had a history where not every joke was accompanied by farts, although apparently, from the beginning, physical comedy was always one of his strong suits, because it was utilized well here. Another thing that caught my attention is that from the very first film, we see "the Sandler formula," a name I gave to the construction of all his stories, where there's a female character way out of his league who ends up succumbing to his charms, and a complication or problem midway through the narrative that ends up being resolved at the end.

En conclusión, pese al humor tan soso y  exagerado de Adam Sandler, es una película que ha envejecido bien en mi opinión, no es la mejor comedia de los 90's, pero es disfrutable, y demuestra de lo que es capaz el actor americano cuando no se centra solo en flatulencias, pues está fue la primera que dirigió y escribió. Aunque se que no voy a necesitar contexto para ver la segunda parte, que he escuchado bastante de mis conocidos por su clasificación para toda la familia, ahora me siento más cómodo para ir a verla, y próximamente les traeré mi pensar de la continuación a esta historia.

In conclusion, despite Adam Sandler's bland and exaggerated humor, it is a movie that has aged well in my opinion, it is not the best comedy of the 90's, but it is enjoyable, and shows what the American actor is capable of when he does not focus only on farts, since this was the first one he directed and wrote. Although I know that I will not need context to see the second part, which I have heard a lot from my acquaintances because of its family rating, now I feel more comfortable to go see it, and soon I will bring you my thoughts on the continuation of this story.

I already talked about a previous film, "Parasite," and my algorithm immediately told me "if you saw that one, you must see this gem again." The truth is, the bad taste, the stomach ache, the nighttime thoughts haven't left me. That's why I think that when a film impacts you like that, it means it was good, and in the case of THE WHALE (2022), it lived up to all my expectations 💯.

Esta película es todo lo que está mal en la sociedad.

La actuación de Brendan Fraser (que lo hizo ganador del Óscar), los planos solos, mudos, son los más desgarradores, la forma de juzgarnos y comportarnos, el mismo sistema como nos lleva a las aberraciones del ser humano (si nos podemos seguir llamando así), creo que fue lo que me hizo verla por segunda vez. Ya hablé de una película anterior ganadora del óscar, "Parásitos", y mi algoritmo inmediatamente me dijo "si viste esa, debes volver a ver esta joya" y la verdad que el sinsabor, el dolor de estómago, el pensamiento nocturno no me ha dejado. Por eso pienso que, cuando una película te impacta de esa forma, quiere decir que estuvo buena y en el caso de LA BALLENA, cumplió con todas las expectativas 💯.

Obesidad

Este se asume que es el tema central, una persona que no se mide en la ingesta de comida y sube de peso de tal manera que pierde el control de su vida, ya que no puede valerse por sí mismo o hacer cosas que cotidianamente tendría que hacer, cómo comer, dormir bien o trabajar de forma presencial. Lamentablemente, esta enfermedad ya se está notando no solo en personas adultas, sino en niños de muy poca edad que debido a los malos hábitos alimenticios, comienzan su escalada de subida de peso sin algún tipo de control. En mi país se estilan comentarios como: "ese niño está gordito, que bien", porque es sinónimo de buena alimentación, y no importa lo que pueda desencadenar esa mal nutrición.

Pero ¿Qué hay detrás de cada bocado descontrolado y sin consecuencias? Hay dolor, traumas, sufrimientos, situaciones que quieren esconderse en la comida y que terminan acabando con la vida de la persona que no sabe gestionar sus emociones. Repito, no se trata del "rollito" que tenemos en nuestro estómago, que es bien difícil de sacar; tampoco hablo de algunos kilos. Hablo de peso descontrolado que compromete los órganos, las articulaciones y toda la movilidad de la persona.

Charlie es el vivo ejemplo de estas emociones reprimidas, abandono, juzgamiento, descontrol y autodestrucción. Lo que más dolor me causó, fue su personalidad, conocimiento, amabilidad y hasta altruismo, es decir, una buena persona que le pasan cosas malas.

Su estado fue un cúmulo de situaciones que no debieron pasar; encontrar culpables, no quita el sobrepeso o el proceso, pero si crea la autoevaluación, prevención y concienciación de cómo hacemos daño con nuestras creencias o actitudes hacia las demás personas. Una historia triste que pudo evitarse.

El tema religioso ¡ME ENCANTÓ! Es impresionante como ese Dios que debe ser amor, que nos llama a la redención, al perdón, a convertirse en su amor y encontrar la vida eterna, lo llevan a un dios (si con d minúscula) de división, odio, exclusión, juzgamiento y alejamiento.

Una y mil veces ¡DIOS NOS AMA! Y nos ama como somos, porque solo él conoce lo que hay en nuestro corazón. No somos quienes para ver a las personas diferentes por no compartir nuestra preferencia sexual o forma de ver la vida. Los preceptos sociales, o la forma de interpretar la biblia, creo que es uno de los peores errores que se ha cometido en nombre de ese Dios que nos llama al amor.

Charlie era homosexual. Como manda la sociedad, se casó y procreó una hija; sin embargo, nunca pudo apagar ese deseo sexual por alguien de su propio sexo. Al atreverse a vivir su vida, fue apartado de la sociedad y la religión que profesaba su pareja, lo llevó a luchar en contra de ellos, hasta que su pareja se rindió y se quitó la vida ¿Debió pasar? No, ¿Se pudo prevenir? Sí.

Tanto que nos vanagloriamos de tecnologías y avances, pero vivimos deshumanizándonos y pensando solo de manera individual y no colectiva. Me causó mucha tristeza saber que muchas personas homosexuales, han sufrido en silencio estos señalamientos y muchos son tan infelices, solo por no ser tan igual "como los demás".

La relación padre-hija es lo peor que le pudo pasar a Charlie. Hombre de carácter sumiso y diligente. No justifico para nada, léase bien ¡NADA! El comportamiento de su hija ¡Era un monstruo! La odié y también lloré al ver lo injusto que a veces somos con nuestros padres, o nos excusamos en los caminos que seguimos por ponerles culpas a ellos.

El transcurso de la película me demostró que tenía razón, la hija no merecía vivir; no le hace ningún bien a la sociedad tener personas tan malas y dañinas dentro de nosotros. Si no quería a su padre, bien por ella, pero no debía tratarlo de la forma que lo hizo.

Los jóvenes avalados en la independencia, la crianza afectiva, el dejarlos decidir, los lleva por un camino de acciones dañinas y negativas. Esto es producto de la falta de autoridad o indiferencia de los padres. También, la típica práctica de "los problemas de los padres, los trasladan a los hijos", crean estos demonios enjaulados, que creen que merecen todo.

Los hijos son para amarlos y guiarlos, pero también para controlarlos y reprenderlos cuando sea necesario, porque lo permisivo que pueden ser, los lleva al abuso. La relación padre- hija estaba quebrada, pero ella se extralimitó y aprovechó todo su odio, para aprovecharse de los sentimientos hermosos e inocentes de Charlie. Deben verla para entender.

Yo la recomiendo. Los temas son fuertes y profundos como la homosexualidad, el sexo, drogas, gula, escenas perturbadoras, pero que todas ellas sirvieron para explicar de manera espectacular el sufrimiento detrás de una persona con obesidad mórbida.

La única buena persona allí fue la cuñada Liz, que se le notaba el dolor y la impotencia. Creo que era la persona más resiliente, pero tuvo que entender que no se puede ayudar a quién no quiere ser ayudado. No hizo falta 75 escenarios, 25 armas, 13 personajes para que la trama se desarrollara de manera genial y con una coherencia increíble. Espero puedan disfrutarla tanto como yo.

Even small cinema industries like Croatia's can expect occurrences when two films made roughly at the same time look very much alike. The last such example could be found in Comic Sans, a 2018 film directed by Nevio Marasović, which shares a lot of plot details with the previous Croatian film, The Eight Commissioner, directed by Ivan Salaj. Both films feature a relatively young, upcoming and successful citizen of Zagreb who, faced with an unexpected crisis, is forced to interrupt his good life in the Croatian capital and spend some time on a remote Croatian island.

The protagonist of Comic Sans, played by Janko Popović Volarić, is Alan Despot, a successful copywriter whose career has allowed him a lifestyle most Croatians could only dream of, which includes a relatively luxurious apartment, an expensive cocaine habit and almost any woman he could lay eyes on. But not everything is well in Alan's life, and one of the reasons can be found in his former girlfriend Marina (played by Nataša Janjić). The end of the relationship affected Alan very badly, and, following a disastrous post-breakup encounter, Alan makes a complete mess of himself at an important corporate party. Because of that, he reluctantly accepts his father's proposal – bohemian painter Bruno (played by Zlatko Burić) – to accompany him to the island of Vis, where their old aunt has died and presumably left them some inheritance. Alan's arrival at the place he barely remembers brings another unpleasant surprise in the form of Barbara (played by Inti Sraj), his former Slovenian girlfriend who is about to marry another man.

Comic Sans is far from a carbon copy of The Eight Commissioner. It actually looks more inspired by typical Hollywood "Oscar bait" films, especially those made with a relatively small budget and featuring a specific genre blend of comedy, drama and road movie. Because of that, Comic Sans in many ways looks formulaic with its set of charmingly quirky characters and attempts to check all required marks. One of them is the presence of Slovenian and Serb characters, necessary for the film to have some sort of success in neighbouring countries and proving that the authors are far from the regressive nationalist bigotry that appears to be on the rise in present-day Croatia. Another is the obligatory presence of an LGBT character (in a rather unexpected scene) that should bring some progressive credentials to the authors.

Yet all those efforts fail because Marasović chose a rather unlikeable character for protagonist. Alan, portrayed as a spoiled member of privileged Croatian elite, is simply too dislikable for the audience to empathise with, and Janko Popović Volarić doesn't do anything that could make viewers root for his character. The script, often burdened with failed attempts at humour, doesn't help, and there is also an unpleasant impression of Comic Sans being unfinished. Whether this is due to Marasović's failure to properly end his film or budget constraints is difficult to determine. The overuse of a song by legendary Croatian singer Mišo Kovač is another problem, which could affect even those viewers who happen to be his fans. The only bright spot of this film is Zlatko Burić, the Croatian actor working in Denmark, best known for the sinister role of drug lord Milo in the Pusher trilogy. Burić, who brought a few of his colleagues from Denmark to the set, obviously enjoyed playing a completely different character – a laid-back neo-hippy parent who happens to show more responsibility and maturity compared to his seemingly more successful son. Burić almost succeeds in lifting Comic Sans above mediocrity, and we can only hope that he will appear in more Croatian films in the future.

Vanessa Kirby is an actress who has been making waves lately with her roles, her latest being in "Fantastic Four." This is very common when any actor suddenly experiences these peaks in popularity, where they're suddenly everywhere with two or more films at the same time, and in this case, it doesn't bother me because Vanessa is an extraordinary actress who's a joy to watch on screen. In this film released by Netflix, she's the center of everything, an intense and tension-filled drama where we see what she's truly made of to get what she so desperately needs.

Lynette (Kirby) is a woman who apparently hasn't fared very well in life (her backstory is quite dense), so she's currently paying the price. She lives with her mother and brother. The problem here is that they're about to lose their house, something that doesn't seem to bother her much. In order to continue living where they've been, they need to take out a loan, and to do so, they have to pay 25,000 dollars. As I told you, her mother isn't very interested in the situation, so she leaves the entire burden on Lynette; the problem? She needs that money by first thing tomorrow morning, and it's 6 p.m. This is where this woman's odyssey begins.

I won't mention her brother because he has a condition (Down syndrome), which makes the situation even more traumatic and emotional for Lynette. From here on, we'll see everything this woman is willing to do for her future and that of her brother; after all, he's the only one she cares about. As I said, her past is very murky, which allows her to use connections on the street to achieve her goal. Basically, the plot is a race against time; in fact, the film itself makes this clear by setting the time of each event in each scene. This only adds to the viewer's tension, as the question of whether she'll finally get all the money she needs is latent.

The premise is very powerful: a desperate woman who has little more than 12 hours, at night, to get a lot of money on the streets of Portland. These are the times when people are the least helpful; everyone calls themselves friends until a pressing situation like this one arises, something Lynette will experience firsthand. The snowball begins to grow when she's left alone in front of a safe; from here, everything goes downhill in terms of danger and desperation. The plot never gets boring because something is always happening. Lynette has to improvise a lot on the fly because things don't go as she expects, which puts her life in serious danger more than once, which ultimately keeps the film's tension from dropping.

Lynette is portrayed as a woman who seemingly can handle anything (she has two jobs and isn't fooled by anyone), but deep down, she's deeply vulnerable because of everything she went through in her adolescence/young adulthood. There's also the element of desperation that makes her do unimaginable things. In fact, I'm truly amazed at how far she becomes and the things she goes through in just a few hours. Add to this the whole setting. It's a very dark environment where it's made very clear that the streets aren't a safe place, much less the people. There's a lot of betrayal and people trying to be clever. In the end, if you go in with a clear objective, I imagine you're kind of invincible (I suppose).

Vanessa Kirby is a great actress, as she proves here. She dazzles throughout the entire film. At times, it seems as though she's too good an actress for the scenes she's assigned to play, as if she falls short. The plot falls a bit short, with many gaps, but she makes it work. It's a film to watch on a day when there isn't much to see. I give it a 6/10. The tension that is felt at times is interesting; I also think it could have been much better than it was. It's less than two hours long and you can find it on Netflix. I've left the trailer below.

BIG TIME Spoilers!!!

A well made trilogy can be really enjoyable no doubt. It's definitely a classic length for a story that feels satisfying. 'The Maze Runner' was that type of trilogy for sure. 'The Death Cure' was a very epic finale.

The action, twists and turns and gut wrenching deaths were all super entertaining and sad of course. I have seen plenty of action movies in my life and something about the action in these movies was great and unique. The action in 'The Death Cure' was truly the best action in the whole series as it should have been.

Thomas and Newt's fight scene was really pretty epic. Newt's entire journey was ultimately tragic but seriously memorable. The guy was awesome and in 'The Death Cure' his character seriously shined. It was tough seeing him die big time.

Minho also had his moments in this movie in a big way. He showed his toughness and resiliency was next level. The torture he endured was wild!

Gally proved to be an interesting cat. He's built different to have survived his death in the first one! The most hilarious line between him and Minho was when Minho said to Gally 'Why are you helping us Gally, I threw a spear into your chest' and Gally said 'Yeah, nobody's perfect' patted him on the shoulder and dipped hahahaha. Idk if that was the exact line but yeah that had me dying.

Another epic scene was when Thomas, Newt, and Minho jumped out of that tall building in the city landing in the fountain or whatever that was. That was undeniably epic, glad the trio got a cool moment like that together!

I mean all of these characters were so memorable. This series did a great job at making each character unique and have their own distinct storylines. Like, it was subtle but effective. I don't want to forget either, that Brenda and Jorge were super awesome characters as well.

Lawrence even had a very brief but wild existence in 'The Death Cure' the way he ran into that wall to destroy the section and allow everyone to enter was absolutely nutty and jaw-dropping. What a moment.

All in all, this series was seriously memorable. One of the coolest dystopian movie experiences ever. The series wasn't shy about anything really. It balanced being edgy and not like ridiculously over the top very well. It was wholesome and cool in it's own way. The letter by Newt at the end was just phenomenal for many, probably obvious reasons.

I don't know what else to say really, there's just nothing to complain about here in these films. They didn't blow my mind at all times, but they have a very nice charm to them that is kind of hard to explain. Sometimes films try to be too like, fancy if that makes sense. I love how kind of blunt everything is. Blend that with just a pretty fascinating story and yeah just really good stuff all around.

I am often fascinated with the idea of being great at one thing, vs being a swiss army knife. I appreciate both avenues of thought but I tend to lean towards a more balanced approach when it comes to art, or even athletes I enjoy.

'The Maze Runner' is simply very well rounded, a very satisfying watch. No real weaknesses to speak of in my opinion. It's noticable strengths are the sheer action, and the world building in general.

Maybe I'm biased because I read the books once upon a time, I'm not sure. But all I know is that once these movies start playing, I'm hooked and entertained for the next two hours. Never a singular moment of boredom to speak of, like ever.

I can't believe these films were initially released eleven years ago. The final one turning eight years old in a few months. Where did the time actually go? Strange that I'm just seeing them in full now. Glad I did.

One day I shall show these to my son, and waste a day munching popcorn together. That's gonna be a great day.

This awesome finale gets the best score of them all, I'm a sucker for a good finale.

9.2/10 for 'Maze Runner: The Death Cure'. I'm glad that the film makers/companies didn't try to print money with them and make extra parts or something. They just made three good movies and dipped! BIG respect!

New releases, we like new releases that excite us. In the audiovisual world, new TV shows or films that make us feel excited, like other well-known ones we've already seen. And I couldn't wait to comment on a new series that recently premiered, because it could be of great interest to those who enjoyed Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, The Last Kingdom, or Vikings, among others; and it could become very popular as well. Do you like epic and historical TV shows?

Well, a historical series has premiered on HBO MAX, not a fantasy one, but more closely related to medieval historical events and figures from France and England. What TV show am I talking about? This TV show is called King & Conqueror, imposing name, right? And what is it about, what happens? Well I looking forward to sharing my review here with you despite that I have only watched the first episode, but I couldn't wait for commenting it!

Let's tell something about this TV show. Here my review:

What is this about?

As I said, it's a historical series, and also an epic one. Set in medieval times, that era of wars between neighboring territories and betrayals between dynasties to accumulate power and seize the throne. It's not always fantasy; it was that way, and it remains real in some ways.

This series is historical because it's set around the year 1000 in southern Britain and northern France, in Normandy, near the English Channel that separated what is now England and France, an area where there has always been much conflict. And it's also an epic series because it tells the lives of two very important historical figures, Harold of Wessex and William of Normandy, who fought for their ambitions and territories, clashed in bloody battles for a throne and also to create a legacy that changed dynasties, politics, and, above all, English history forever.

Both heroes were influenced by their families, powerful dynasties and ambitious relatives who somehow influenced the course of events, hatching schemes, plots, and betrayals to gain greater influence and for their respective houses and surnames to resonate in the history books. And now also on television screens.

A TV show that we're already enjoying epically, with plenty of battles and intriguing characters; and from what I've read, it was filmed in Iceland, so let's hope for some great locations as well. Plus, there are more surprises to come in the eight episodes of this first season.

The characters

And what really caught my attention? The cast.

Yes, familiar faces who already promise excitement and adventure. On one hand, James Norton plays Harold of Wessex. I've seen him in other series, especially English ones, like Grantchester. And the main star, whom Game of Thrones fans will remember, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (a member of the Lannister family in Game of Thrones), is now back here drawing his sword as William, Duke of Normandy. I don't want to give away any spoilers, so I'll just say that he once again gives a great performance, at least from what I've seen so far...

And on the other hand, there are more characters, of course, and I want to highlight the role of some actresses, embodying very intelligent women who will definitely help the plot, being essential, sometimes very conspiratorial and always brave, in a harsh world, for everyone.

Anything else to comment?

Yes, the atmosphere. The series seems well-made, we like the characters, and it offers plenty of plots and battles. And that's precisely what gives it an atmosphere reminiscent of other series we've seen. It reminds us of history, adventure, intrigue, and surprises, in a setting from another time, from that medieval era we know little about, but which captivates us.

I have been telling so much, so I'm gonna watch the other seven episodes weekly and it's better to enjoy this great TV show by yourselves. Take a look!

Finally got to watch the movie Mission Impossible: the final reckoning acted by the great actor, Tom Cruise who played the lead role. As the name implies Mission Impossible, Tom Cruise and is trusted IMF team have to carry out a difficult and dangerous mission so as to able to halt the Dangerous activities of an AI known as The Entity.

It is very obvious that people who are in high government offices tend to be power drunk and in one way or the other to establish technologies that can be dangerous to the people or can wipe out an entire country. This is evidence in the movie Mission Impossible As some group or persons developed an AI called "The Entity" which wants to wipe out the entire nation by seizing control of global nuclear Arsenal and in turn threatening to destroy the nation.

We all know that Tom Cruise's movie is one that he commits his physicality to by performing dangerous stunts. Most of his actions are done in a natural way by employing his physical abilities to perform dangerous stunts so as to make the movie more human inclined rather than depending on tricks. Tom Cruise is 62 years old and his Legacy in the movie industry has proven to show how he totally commits himself physically and mentally towards every movie he is making.

The Mission Impossible is a trailer movie where Tom Cruise who acted as Ethan Hunt and his selected team whom he trusted have to work together to counter a dangerous attack on the nation. Apparently, it was a previous job of Tom Cruise in dead reckoning part 1 that brought about the difficulty they experience now. Hence, he has to work together with trusted hands to be able to retrieve future information from a sunking Russian submarine.

The mission is a deadly one because he has to dive deep into the dark waters to collect this key that contains an information that is valuable to destroy the opponents threats. After all planning and strategies with little time of 3 days were set in please, despite the difficulties to achieve the strategies they still went ahead and although in the cause of retrieving the information Tom Cruise almost died but was resusitated at the right time by his team members.

Fast forward to the end, Tom Cruise and his team were able to get the information and intern disable the enemies hold on the nation's arsenal. No doubt it was an interesting watch, as they destroyed the artificial intelligence that wanted to wipe out making and give untold power to some greedy persons.

This movie portrays a bit of the abnormality that modern-day loan app companies subject people to. That feature alone piqued my interest and made me continue watching the movie when I started.

Fateh is a 2025 Indian movie centered on cybercrime and is an action-packed thriller as well. In a small community where Fateh, a retired special killer, resides and works on a farm, the community gets overtaken by cybercrime through online loans. The loan companies operate entirely online, giving out loans but eventually taking the lives of their customers afterwards. How do they do that? It starts with unbearable pressure from constant calls and threats when the loan is due. To make it worse, they capture some of the customers and execute them on live television in a “fun” and brutal way via electric shocks. These televised killings entertain viewers, increase the company’s audience, and earn them a lot of money in the process.

Things get unbearable when Nimrat, one of the loan agents in the community, is kidnapped and about to be executed. She happens to be someone Fateh knows very well, and he cannot bear the thought of losing her. That moment forces him to take back the part of his life he had left behind — yes, the killer inside him. He travels down to the city to hunt down the company and all their accomplices.

The hunt is very entertaining, especially with Fateh’s intelligence and his ruthless, no-mercy killing style. No lies about that! But for me, I have to say this — for a movie released in this modern era (2025), the gunfighting scenes were poorly executed. What do I mean? Yes, Fateh has great shooting skills, but there are some scenes that appear unrealistically “magical” — where he kills numerous opponents without any of them managing to shoot at him. How??? It feels very unrelatable and breaks the realism.

These scenes, though somewhat entertaining, were a major turn-off for me.

The cinematography, however, is excellent. The slow-motion effects and the splash of blood make the visuals very eye-catching. Of course, Bollywood has always been good with such effects.

The characters, though I am not very fond of them, played their parts well. Sonu Sood, who played Fateh, was perfect for the role because of his quiet and reserved nature. You know, sensitive people usually do not talk much — they observe more, and that fits the character perfectly.

Overall, I would rate it 6/10.
