It is this unglamorous, psychologically devastating chapter—the real lowest ebb—that Band of Brothers masterfully chronicles in its seventh episode, The Breaking Point. Directed by David Frankel and written by Graham Yost, the episode transcends conventional war storytelling to expose the quiet, soul-crushing toll of combat that persists long after the mythic battle ends.

In accordance with tradition of switching perspectives, the episode centres on 1st Sergeant Carwood Lipton (Donnie Wahlberg), whose steady narration provides both structural coherence and profound emotional context. Where Leland immersed viewers in the claustrophobic immediacy of siege warfare, Frankel adopts a more conventional, almost elegiac approach. The same meticulously recreated British studio sets—bleak, snow-laden Ardennes woods—now serve as a stage for introspection rather than survival. Lipton’s narration proves indispensable, weaving exposition with haunting reflection: he names the fallen, recalls their quirks, and contextualises their suffering, transforming statistics into intimate elegies. This narrative device allows the episode to breathe, granting space for the psychological unraveling that raw combat sequences might overshadow. The attack on Foy, Easy Company’s objective to seize the village of Foy, arrives late but is executed with surgical precision. Frankel avoids grandiose heroics; instead, he focuses on the grinding tension of advancing through open fields under artillery and machine gun fire, the fumbling of inexperienced replacements, and the visceral relief when Captain Winters (Damian Lewis) relieves the indecisive Lieutenant Norman Dike (Peter O’Meara) and replaces him with the formidable Captain Speirs. The assault’s success feels earned, not triumphant—a necessary step in an endless march.

Yet the episode’s crowning achievement lies in its final, transcendent sequence. As the weary survivors take refuge in a liberated convent, the sound of a choir swells—a moment of fragile peace. Then, in a stroke of poetic genius, the camera lingers on Lipton as figures of the fallen and wounded—Toye, Guarnere, Compton, Hoobler—gradually dissolve into the shadows while the music plays. This isn’t mere sentimentality; it’s a visual metaphor for the inescapable presence of loss. The living carry the dead within them, their absence a constant companion. Yost’s script ensures this moment feels earned, not manipulative, by grounding it in the accumulated weight of the preceding hour.

Nevertheless, The Breaking Point stumbles where historical fidelity collides with narrative necessity. The portrayal of Lieutenant Dike as an inept commander, relieved for timidity during the Foy assault, ignited controversy. Historically, Dike was wounded in the action, later decorated for gallantry, and rose to Lieutenant Colonel—a fact the series omits to streamline the leadership crisis. While dramaturgically effective (Dike’s replacement by Speirs crystallises Easy Company’s need for decisive command), it risks reducing a complex figure to a plot device. Similarly, Hoobler’s death, rendered as a darkly comic accident with a trophy pistol, sanitises the grim reality of his real-life death during routine wire-laying—a concession to Hollywood’s appetite for "cinematic" tragedy that slightly undermines the series’ vaunted realism.

These flaws, however, cannot diminish the episode’s monumental achievement: its unflinching dissection of combat’s psychological attrition. Where Bastogne depicted physical endurance, "The Breaking Point" exposes the invisible wounds—the moment when the will to endure finally buckles. Compton’s breakdown isn’t an outlier; it’s the logical endpoint of sustained trauma, a truth corroborated by modern studies on PTSD. McDonough’s performance, Wahlberg’s grounded narration, and Frankel’s restrained direction coalesce into a meditation on the cost of brotherhood: how men cling to each other not just for survival, but to preserve their humanity when the world demands its surrender.

In the end, The Breaking Point succeeds precisely because it rejects the myth of easy redemption. There are no grand speeches, no cathartic victories—only the quiet, dogged persistence of men who have lost too much but march forward nonetheless. When Lipton learns of his battlefield commission to 2nd Lieutenant in the convent’s hush, the moment carries no fanfare, only weary acceptance. This is war stripped of glory, revealing its core truth: the breaking point isn’t a single moment, but a continuum of endurance. Easy Company’s legend wasn’t forged in Bastogne’s siege, but in the silent, snow-covered hell that followed—a testament to the resilience of ordinary men asked to carry the unbearable.

‎It's been some years back, and I no longer think about like I used to. But I still remembered how watching that movie made me feel. And then, I told younger me I'd never watch any type of movie like that. I gawk at people who say their favorite genre of movie is horror. I despise it. And I've struggled in the past, to try and see if I was just overreacting, maybe I'd eventually fall in love with it. That's what I kept telling myself, but seeing Sinners, brought back that feeling. And the funny thing is, it wasn't that scary so why's my heart racing!? I've seen vampire movies and a lot of them, and I loved the ones I love. ‎ Source ‎The freight I had aside, Sinners is an incredible movie. I'd gone halfway through before I figured it was a horror movie. I was at the music part, where spirits started gathering to dance along with, when I paused the movie a quickly browsed what genre of movie Sinners was. And I couldn't drop it cause I'd already gone halfway so I said the F word and just went along with it. I loved the cinematic vibe, the graphic, the music,  and the characters. ‎ ‎Normally, horror movies are immediate. They tend to just throw stuff at it, and with your inability to make sense of what's going on, they jump scare you. And that's what ignite the horror. But Sinners was slow, inducing the terror bit by bit, making the hair on your skin stand and prying your eyes open. You want to see what happens next, but at the same time, you don't want to see what the hell is happening next. ‎ Source ‎Sinners is a psychological horror movie directed by Ryan Coogler. I revolves around twin brothers, Smoke and Stack who return to their hometown to open a juke joint, only to confront a lurking supernatural evil. They take their cousin, Preacher boy to help them for their opening night and to play music for the folks that'll come for the party. The twin brothers also manages to gather up other friends to help with the opening night. Now, the opening nights here. Everyone's having fun, Preacher boy's singing is setting the mood. He's an excellent musician. But way to good that he draws spirits in, and unfortunately he draws a terrible terrible one. A vampire. Everything goes downhill from here, becomes really bloody and nasty. But it ended in...joy? ‎ ‎If you're not irked about horror movies and you haven't seen Sinners then this is definitely for you. The acting was marvelous, every thing asides the part where things get scary was really good and very creative. It definitely deserves to be one of the top movies this year. ‎ ‎Thanks for reading. ‎

There are movies that you look forward to, and there are those you see when you’re exhausted, so that it would more or less complete the deed, and send you into a sleep coma. That was the situation last night. Dog-tired from an exams, but my friend suggested that we see a movie, and I acquiesced simply because I knew I’d sleep anyway.

Heads of State (2025)

The U.S President, Will Derringer, and the Prime Minister of the UK have a strong dislike for each other. The former thinks he’s too uptight, and the latter thinks he’s properly unfit and under qualified to be the US President. Nevertheless, to solidify their association with NATO, and present a public image of co-operation, they are advised to make an appearance together before boarding a private jet that would take them to Warsaw.

All of that effectively comes to an end when an inside attack is launched while they're in the jet, and they now have to fight for their lives. No one to trust but themselves. A cynical man, and a great dad but not so great of a leader, it's clear that their chances are slim, but just maybe this threat against their lives is all they really needed.

My Thoughts and Rating

So, as you may have guessed, I did not sleep. I expected to, but it didn’t happen. I was pulled in from the very first scene where there was a tomato festival celebration till the blissful end. Every scene drew your eyes, as well as your heart. I enjoyed the fact that it was able to capture the essence of world peace and solidarity, and still send the right message.

And also, this movie is totally the type of movie you see with a popcorn in hand, and surrounded by family or, at least, a loved one or two. It has that charm that is just right, and makes it a movie fit for the whole family. I was certainly glad I had one beside me, who I later found out had seen the movie, but stayed silent, so that the experience stayed beautiful for me.

One thing I’d like to point out is the humour. I’m not a big fan of Cena’s movies, I won’t even lie, but this was great, and the jokes had an old school vibe to it, especially the part where you’re asked your whereabouts, and a images of crazy experiences through your mind, but you just end up saying something like, “I’ve just been around.” Yeah, that kind of humour. It was just epic. The dry wit, puns, and everything in between. Some predictable, but nevertheless endearing.

Priyanka Chopra was in her element. I’ve not seen a lot of her films, but I definitely should see more, because she interpreted her role impeccably. From her form, to the dialogue and then to the action, she showed that she’s indeed a natural movie star, and I completely loved seeing her like this. Idris Elba gives nothing short of perfection in his movies, and maybe the chemistry he and Chopra had wasn’t the best, but the action and generally just how cool he is, made up for whatever wasn’t good enough.

The CGI, Cinematography, and everything else were great. I love a movie that is paced properly from start to finish, and while I may not see Heads of State again, I can tell you for free that it is not a waste of time, and you may just like it a lot. For me, I would say that this is a good 7/10 type of movie. Again, totally recommend that you don’t see this alone.

Hey fellas! How’s it going?? Oooooh! I'm in such a gossipy mood right now and yeah, it's about this new Korean series that's raving the movie screens lately.

Well, for starters, I think I can remember my reaction the moment I saw the poster on my Movie box! The male protagonist is my guyyyyyy!! Like I love love love him!! (Forgive my manners! But are y’all girlies still hung up on Gu Jun Pyo?) Nah nah nah! I've moved.

But don't worry I'm not gonna be doing a review of this movie called: The First Night With The Duke, by embellishing my favorite Korean Star, Ok Taec-yeon, I would rather, give this review based on how I loved this series. It's really a beautiful one and you've got to check it out.

So let's get started with episode one. Okay, so imagine yourself falling asleep amidst reading your favorite romance novel, only to wake up inside it. Crazy! Right? Yeah, that’s our girl. While in the book, she’s now Lady Cha Seon-chaek who you would call a total side character. There are no big roles and no drama. She is just meant to quietly exist while the main love story happens somewhere else. But… nah. One fancy party later, I see her sipping wine, locking eyes with Prince Yi-Beon (yes, the tall, cute and dangerous type-the man of my dreams☺️), and next thing I see…boom. The next morning, she is in his bed. All her reputation as the daughter of a nobleman? Gone! And where is my popcorn? Ah! It's finished! And I'm just starting!!!

I head over to episode two and it begins with a flashback of Cha Seon-chaek. She seems drunk by the riverside but then almost immediately, she's seen to be kissing the Prince and this is in public. Facing reality, she seems to be flustered and frustrated but then something cool happens. The Prince decides to marry her. He wasn't asking. He was telling her. Like he freaking gives her three days to tell her family or face treason charges. Funny enough, I expected her reaction since she had proven to be a stubborn fly anyway. She is seen acting like a fool, rolling in dirt, acting like a wicked master to her servant and even pulling the “I want to be a monk” card, all in a bid to scare the Prince away. And like you guessed, the man does not budge.

Here in episode three, she is seen to be dreaming of her old life after which she wakes up having all kinds of strange feelings. Her brothers hover like overprotective chickens. And the Prince, I see him sending rare herbs and summoning the Royal Doctor.

Episode four opens at a young nobles’ hangout where they are seen to be playing the Jenga game. Cha Seon-chaek literally carved out sticks with the help of her servant so she could write weird questions on them. So it's, you either answer or you drink. Think of it like your “truth or dare” game. In this episode, we see the prince try to exert his ownership of her, and he concludes with the words: “I'm marrying her” after someone asks her about her last kiss. He literally made everyone uncomfortable and all those who felt like shooting their shot at Cha Seon-chaek held their guns in place. Chaos erupted when the supposed lead character of the book, Jo Eun-ae, had an allergic attack and in the bid to look for a solution, the room caught fire. It was in this scene, my beloved Prince became a Hero by saving the damsel in distress. No one was hurt either.

From Episode five to six, Cha Seon-chaek seems to always be getting herself involved in the original order of the book, thereby disrupting the storyline and finally getting herself the female lead role. Obviously, that means, the entire book has been changed. She encountered a foreigner of whom she knew nothing about but then, she got him clothes and gave him food, but long story cut short, she was poisoned by him and after a series of crazy events, she is ostracized for a while till she gets better. While in that place, her Prince comes to be with her while proferring solutions. One morning she goes out only to see a paper fly to her, she sees that it is an application to marry her prince. Apparently, the palace had made an open invitation to all ladies who were interested in marrying the prince to come apply, and amidst all the twists and turns, she applies and gets herself among those contesting for the prince’s bride.

You know what? Let's pause for today as I'll be giving a review of episodes seven to twelve in my next post so watch out. But meanwhile, for these first six episodes, I tried as much as possible to eliminate the darker parts as it was overwhelming at some points. Being that the Prince was actually a hunting dog for the King as he was not the King’s biological child. But all the same, I really enjoyed this series as it was packed with humour, love and some cringey scenes I absolutely loved. I'll be giving this series an absolute 10/10. "True Beauty" is a is a manhwa written and illustrated by Yaongyi. The genre is romance-comedy and drama. The story begins with our protagonist who's name is Jugyeong who's a middle school student. She's often bullied because of her looks which people considers ugly even her family members calls her ugly. She has one brother and one sister and both of them has no respect for her because they consider her as a ugly person with no personality. To hide her bare face she tries to find solution to make herself look better. She posted about her problem in a blog where people were suggesting her to start doing make up because many people does make up and they look completely different with makeup which is a better result to cope up with insecurities. She tried to follow the makeup tutorials which ended in a bad way.

She could barely do the right makeup and ended up making herself humiliated because of the wrong makeup. Jugyeong was frustrated and sad because she thought makeup made her look more ugly. But the truth was that she didn't know how to do the right makeup. But as time passed she started to read makeup related magazines and follow the top trending tutorials and she had spent her entire last winter vacation of middle school practicing makeup. Then she joined a new high school where she presented herself wearing makeup. She looked completely different than how she used to look before. Everyone in the class was mesmerized by her beauty as she's a goddess. She quickly got fame by mastering the art of makeup via online tutorials. Her excellent make-up skills made her look more pretty and she continues to hide her bare face in front others by keeping it as a secret.

She's a huge comic book fan, she visits the library as usual with bare face and there she encountered a boy who's name is Suho Lee. It was a cold interaction because it was their first meet and Suho Lee seemed to be more interested in protecting the book he had picked. Jugyeong was pissed about it because he was not vining at all. Later Jugyeong's friend from school suggested that she should learn Japanese from the guy in their school who is very good at Japanese and as Jugyeong is trying to learn it then it will be easier for her. Her friend set up a group study and when Jugyeong came she saw that it's the same guy who was at the library. To her shock she realized he couldn't recognize her at all. But after a while by some hints Suho recognized her and Jugyeong requested him that she would do anything for him but he must not reveal her secret about hiding her identity.

Suho took the advantage and he decided to make her do things for him, such as bringing foods or suggesting comics and all. In a way Suho was having fun and Jugyeong was desperate to keep her secret hidden. On the other hand a girl called Sunjin Kang was getting jealous by seeing Suho and Jugyeong together. Sunjin was seeing Jugyeong in a lower standard and she didn't find her beautiful but she wanted to pretend to be her friend. In real she wanted to keep her away from Suho so she decided to befriend Jugyeong. As our protagonist is naive she felt lucky to be Sunjin's friend but Sunjin was plotting something big against her. Sunjin put up a blind date for Jugyeong but it was with a play boy but she was unaware of it because the guy in front of her was present like a gentleman.....

Review

If you remove the title, the comic itself is pretty good because the title is kind of misleading. To be honest I like the fact that how makeup started as a way for our female protagonist to fit in and it became a shield for her. Like she got many opportunities because of her talent for makeup. As she was bullied before because of her bare face means natural look so for that reason her self esteem is super low. Well, the character growth is very slow but it is understandable because that's more realistic. I liked her transition she has made her weakness as her super power. I have seen people hating on her character but she's the real one, because it's never easy to change our mindset and start believing in that we are beautiful the way we are. It takes lots of time to evolve ourselves into a better person with great thoughts.

If you ask me which character i disliked the most then I will say it's Sunjin, even though she is suffering in her life but that does not give her the right to do bad with others. Just because you are living in hell doesn't mean you have to treat others as lowly. Anyway, it was hard to choose one of the boys. The love triangle was hitting really hard. I like both male character and both of them are so attractive! Like the artist has done a great job in making them. Both felt like a perfect man for Jugyeong. I feel she deserves both of them lol. But that can't happen she's eventually gonna choose one and the other one is going to get heart broken.

The art style is pretty but not very realistic. Well, I wish that there was more focus on mental health and self image than just romance. I would love to see if there was some self-love. There are 257 chapters in total and it's completed so feel free to read it! You don't have to wait for the new chapters. I have finished it and also watched the K-drama version and I truly like both of them. I hope you guys will have fun to read this manhwa as much as I did.

Hi guys, how are you all? Hope many of you are well. Friends, we who watch Bollywood movies know more or less the superstars in Bollywood. It would be wrong to say that we know only those who watch movies; they more or less know the superstars of Bollywood, because the Bollywood industry is a very big industry. Can say it's the world's second-largest industry. And the movie I will talk about today was released in 2003, 22 years ago. Why did I suddenly want to talk about this movie today? Today I was very surprised to see the movie, so I thought I would talk about this movie with my friends.

Amitabh Bachchan, the best of the Bollywood industry, has acted in this movie, besides Salman Khan, Mahima Chowdhury, Hena Malini, Paresh Rawal, and many other famous actors and actresses have acted in this movie. This movie is a very high-budget movie. So it is natural to think that a movie with so many superstars will be different.

Basically, the story of this movie is that a family head spends all his earnings in his life to establish children, and when that child comes to his retirement, or you can say when the time of retirement of the family head comes, it is shown that he is removed from the father's seat and considered a burden. The director has presented his story in such a beautiful way, so organized, which is really amazing in one word to me. I haven't seen this movie before. I regretted not seeing the movie before; the movie has a moral as well as a lesson in it, which is a form of truth.

Those who have seen the movie will agree with me, and those who have not seen it, if you have seen Bollywood movies, then I request you to watch the movie; this movie holds a special place for me. I decided to watch this movie again later. I like the movie very much. So I will tell you that I will watch this movie if I have time.

There are some things that make a movie franchise stand long in this age of entertainment. When you have a good plot, wonderful acting, and a strong main character. Someone who the fans immediately fall for and if it's an action movie, someone that the enemies and antagonists immediately fear. A man of focus, commitment and sheer fucking will.

John Wick 🎯

There's a lot of those in this show, but in place of explosions we have gunshots and the codes. For me, the codes and the continental really did interest me. It brought a bit more lore into the assassins world. For what I love, it's clearly the acting, Keanu Reeves and others aced the show. Loved Viggo Tarasov in particular. He is an antagonist I just couldn't hate. Someone who understood what his son had done, understood what he had to do and yet chose to try and save the son, despite its consequences. Michael Nyqvist did wonderfully in this role, down to his last moments I loved him. Another character I loved was Marcus, although with limited screen time, he managed to excel as a wonderful deutrogonist. His death was regretful but well crafted. Overall, this is a lovely movie that I give a 9 out of 10 rating. Can't wait to watch the rest😍✨.

A mí, los códigos y el continente me interesaron mucho. Aportaron un poco más de tradición al mundo de los asesinos. En lo que más me gusta, es sin duda la actuación. Keanu Reeves y otros brillaron en la serie. Me encantó Viggo Tarasov en particular. Es un antagonista al que simplemente no podía odiar. Alguien que entendió lo que su hijo había hecho, entendió lo que tenía que hacer y, aun así, decidió intentar salvarlo, a pesar de las consecuencias. Michael Nyqvist estuvo de maravilla en este papel; hasta sus últimos momentos lo amé. Otro personaje que me encantó fue Marcus; aunque con poco tiempo en pantalla, logró destacar como un maravilloso deutrogonista. Su muerte fue lamentable, pero bien elaborada. En general, es una película encantadora a la que le doy un 9 sobre 10. ¡Qué ganas de ver el resto! 😍✨

A mí me gusta mucho esas películas de acción, matazón jajaja de guerras y me puse a ver Land of Bad, desde que empezó ya se notaba que iba a ser una de esas historias de soldados atrapados en territorio enemigo, con Liam Hemsworth haciendo de especialista en comunicaciones aéreas que se queda solo después de que toda su misión se va al carajo en las Filipinas, entonces tiene que sobrevivir con la ayuda de Russell Crowe que está operando un drone desde Nevada. La cosa es que la película arranca medio lenta pero lo bueno fue que después agarró el ritmo cuando empiezan los tiroteos y las explosiones, Russell Crowe está buenísimo como el piloto de drone que se llama Reaper, tiene ese humor sarcástico y Liam Hemsworth no es que sea el mejor actor del mundo pero para este papel funciona bien, se ve creíble como el soldado joven que está cagado de miedo pero que igual tiene que seguir adelante. Lo que más me gustó de toda la peli fue la relación entre estos dos personajes, porque se van conociendo y apoyando a través de las comunicaciones por radio mientras uno está en el desierto esquivando balas y el otro está cómodo en su oficina con aire acondicionado, además que hay momentos donde la tensión está tan alta que uno se olvida de que está viendo una película y se mete de lleno en la situación, especialmente cuando Hemsworth está corriendo entre las rocas mientras Crowe le va diciendo por donde moverse para evitar a los enemigos que lo están persiguiendo. Creo que el director William Eubank logró crear toda esa tensión que necesitan estas historias aunque a veces se nota que el presupuesto no era muy alto por algunos efectos especiales que se ven medio baratos.

La trama es super predecible es casi la misma historia que hemos visto mil veces de soldados americanos perdidos en territorio hostil, pero no se puede negar que la peli está bien hecha y eso hace que funcione a pesar de ser tan familiar. Lo que me fastidió fue que a ratos se pone muy sermoneadora, como si quisiera darte lecciones sobre la importancia del servicio militar y el sacrificio y no se eso me pareció forzado además que cortaba toda la acción. También hay algunos personajes secundarios que están ahí solo para ser carne de cañón, como Luke Hemsworth que hace del hermano mayor y que aparece como cinco minutos antes de que lo maten, eso fue un desperdicio pudo haber tenido más protagonismo. Milo Ventimiglia tampoco tiene mucho que hacer más que dar órdenes y después morirse de manera heroica, es de esas muertes que uno ve venir desde el primer momento y Ricky Whittle como el francotirador del grupo tuvo algunos momentos buenos pero igual termina siendo otro personaje descartable que solo sirve para meter drama cuando lo eliminan. En cuanto a la parte técnica la peli está normal es decente pues, los sonidos de las armas y explosiones se sienten reales aunque hay algunas tomas aéreas que se ven hechas con computadora y rompen con ese realismo pero las secuencias de acción que es lo que más me gustá están bien, hay una donde Hemsworth tiene que escapar de una cueva llena de enemigos mientras Crowe le da apoyo aéreo con misiles, esa escena está llena de tensión y me mantuvo super atrnta.

Algo que sí tengo que reconocer es que la película muestra lo brutal y caótico que puede ser toda la guerra sin romantizarlo demasiado, los personajes son como personas reales con miedo y dudas, no como superhéroes invencibles que nuncan cometen errores. Hay una escena donde Crowe tiene que elegir entre salvar a uno de los soldados o completar la misión y esa parte moral está muy bien manejada porque no hay respuestas fáciles. También me gustó como muestran el lado humano de los operadores de drones, generalmente estas películas se enfocan solo en los soldados en el campo pero aquí ves como los que están operando desde la distancia también cargan con el peso de las decisiones que toman y son paerte importante de la misión. Russell Crowe le da mucha personalidad a su personaje con pequeños detalles como su obsesión con organizar las tazas de café o como se preocupa porque su esposa está embarazada y puede dar a luz en cualquier momento, digamos que esas cosas es lo que hace que el personaje sea mas humano y que la película se sienta auténtica en lugar de solo ser otro show de pirotecnia. El problema es que estos momentos buenos se mezclan con otros que son puro cliché militar hay demasiado discurso motivacional antes de la misión.

Entonces esa parte final donde tienen que rescatar al último superviviente es demasiado apurada y no tiene el mismo peso emocional que habían estado construyendo, también hay algunos errores de lógica que si le pones atención te molesta como que los enemigos parecen tener munición infinita pero malaaa puntería o que el drone de Crowe nunca se queda sin combustible a pesar de estar volando por horas, son esos detallitos. En general lo demás me gustó las conversaciones por radio entre Hemsworth y Crowe son naturales y espontáneas, hay momnetos en que Crowe le hace bromas a Hemsworth para mantenerlo calmado cuando hay más tensión, los efectos de sonido están chévere porque cada disparo y explosión tiene peso y se siente real y eso hace que tr sientas como que están en peligro constante, creo que pusieron bastante empeño en hacer que todo se viera y sonara profesional a pesar de no tener un presupuesto gigantesco como otras películas del género.

En mi opinión Land of Bad es una película que tiene mucha acción y tensión y te mantiene interesado durante el tiempo que dura, las actuaciones están bien mi favorito fue Russell Crowe que le da vida a un personaje que seguro pudo haber sido muy aburrido en manos de otro actor. La dirección es competente y la historia, aunque predecible, está contada de manera efectiva y aunque la historia es algo predecible el director hizo un buen trabajo para que se sintiera real. Yo le doy un 6.5/10, no es de esas pelis que vas a recordar por mucho tiempo o que vas a querer ver varias veces, pero si te gustan las pelis de guerra y acción militar probablemente la vas a disfrutar y te entretienes un rsto, está por encima del promedio pero no llega a ser excelente. La recomiendo si quieres ver algo sin complicarte mucho la vida y si eres fan de Russell Crowe o si te gusta todo eso de la tecnología militar y quieres ver como funcionan los drones en combate, porque esa parte técnica está muy bien mostrada.

I really like those action movies, killing hahaha of wars and I started watching Land of Bad, since it started I could tell it was going to be one of those stories of soldiers trapped in enemy territory, with Liam Hemsworth playing an air communications specialist who is left alone after his entire mission goes to hell in the Philippines, then he has to survive with the help of Russell Crowe who is operating a drone from Nevada. The thing is that the movie starts slow but the good thing is that later it picks up the pace when the shootings and explosions start, Russell Crowe is great as the drone pilot called Reaper, he has that sarcastic humor and Liam Hemsworth is not the best actor in the world but for this role he works well, he looks credible as the young soldier who is scared shitless but he still has to keep going. What I liked most of the whole movie was the relationship between these two characters, because they get to know each other and support each other through radio communications while one is in the desert dodging bullets and the other is comfortable in his air-conditioned office, plus there are moments where the tension is so high that you forget you are watching a movie and you get right into the situation, especially when Hemsworth is running among the rocks while Crowe is telling him where to move to avoid the enemies that are chasing him. I think director William Eubank managed to create all the tension that these stories need, although sometimes you can tell that the budget was not very high because of some special effects that look kind of cheap.

The plot is super predictable it's almost the same story we've seen a thousand times of American soldiers lost in hostile territory, but you can't deny that the movie is well made and that makes it work despite being so familiar. What bugged me was that at times it gets very preachy, as if it wanted to lecture you about the importance of military service and sacrifice and I don't know that seemed forced to me plus it cut off all the action. There are also some secondary characters that are there just to be cannon fodder, like Luke Hemsworth who plays the older brother and appears about five minutes before he gets killed, that was a waste, he could have had more of a starring role. Milo Ventimiglia doesn't have much to do other than give orders and then die heroically, it's one of those deaths that you see coming from the first moment and Ricky Whittle as the group's sniper had some good moments but still ends up being another disposable character that only serves to add drama when he is eliminated. As for the technical part the movie is decent, the sounds of weapons and explosions feel real although there are some aerial shots that look made with computer and break with that realism but the action sequences which is what I like the most are fine, there is one where Hemsworth has to escape from a cave full of enemies while Crowe gives him air support with missiles, that scene is full of tension and kept me super attrnta.

One thing I do have to admit is that the movie shows how brutal and chaotic the whole war can be without romanticizing it too much, the characters are like real people with fear and doubt, not invincible superheroes who never make mistakes. There is a scene where Crowe has to choose between saving one of the soldiers or completing the mission and that moral part is very well handled because there are no easy answers. I also liked how they show the human side of the drone operators, usually these movies focus only on the soldiers in the field but here you see how those who are operating from a distance also carry the weight of the decisions they make and are an important part of the mission. Russell Crowe gives a lot of personality to his character with little details like his obsession with organizing the coffee cups or how he worries that his wife is pregnant and could give birth at any moment, let's say those things are what make the character more human and make the movie feel authentic instead of just another fireworks show. The pace of the movie is pretty good during the first two thirds and almost at the end it speeds up too much this I don't like because I feel like they wanted to solve everything fast as if they ran out of time I don't know if it's like that but when I pause in a movie that's what makes me think. Then that final part where they have to rescue the last survivor is too rushed and doesn't have the same emotional weight that they had been building, there are also some logic errors that if you pay attention it bothers you like the enemies seem to have infinite ammo but poor aim or that Crowe's drone never runs out of fuel despite being flying for hours, are those little details. In general the rest I liked the radio conversations between Hemsworth and Crowe are natural and spontaneous, there are moments when Crowe makes jokes to Hemsworth to keep him calm when there is more tension, the sound effects are cool because every shot and explosion has weight and feels real and that makes you feel like they are in constant danger, I think they put a lot of effort to make everything look and sound professional despite not having a huge budget like other films of the genre.

In my opinion Land of Bad is a movie that has a lot of action and tension and keeps you interested for the duration, the performances are fine my favorite was Russell Crowe who brings to life a character that sure could have been very boring in the hands of another actor. The direction is competent and the story, although predictable, is told effectively and although the story is somewhat predictable the director did a good job of making it feel real. I give it a 6.5/10, it's not one of those movies you'll remember for a long time or want to see several times, but if you like war and military action movies you'll probably enjoy it and be entertained for a while, it's above average but not great. I recommend it if you want to see something without complicating your life too much and if you are a fan of Russell Crowe or if you like all that military technology and want to see how drones work in combat, because that technical part is very well shown.
