It seems that the days of being unable to say anything, of being careful about what you said, or of doing things based on what people might say, are coming to an end, or at least that's what División Palermo did with its two seasons. It's strange to see this type of content on platforms these days, because for someone like me who enjoys a little bit of wit in humor, I think the jokes, dialogue, and interactions in this series are very off-color, which I find incredible and super intelligent. Many people struggle to differentiate what's humorous and what isn't; they're not as finely tuned as that, and I think if they watch this series, they'll be able to fully understand this type of comedy.
División Palermo is an Argentine series that premiered in 2023, with its second and final season released in July of this year. It centers on a group of people belonging to minorities and with disabilities who make up what is known as the "urban guard." Their main function is to improve the image and perception of the police and assist the people of Buenos Aires with civic tasks. The reality is that the security forces are being heavily criticized, so the acting Minister sought to implement the theme of inclusion to improve the poor image they were portraying. The problem is that all these people have no idea about their work, and the whole thing ends up being a disaster.
This series is pure comedy and satire; there's no room for offense, which is the central objective of the story. Amputees, people with dwarfism, a Bolivian!?, a Jewish person, a wheelchair user, a trans person, a blind person, and elderly people; this is the group from the first season. In the second season, the scales rise a bit further, and we see Black people, people with Down syndrome, paraplegics, obese people, and so on. The intelligence and freshness in the way these topics are approached, knowing they can be sensitive, I think is masterful. The ability to make any situation into a joke simply because of someone's condition or simply because of their nationality or religion is truly comical.
They aren't cops, but in their eagerness to prove their worth, they get into unnecessary trouble, such as ending up facing off against a drug-trafficking criminal gang. That gang is the owners of a toy store, so the whole setting is already pretty funny. Beyond that, the series is very well-made; it's not overly produced, but they did take care of the details in the action scenes, shootings, etc. The plot's guiding thread is also very cool; it's not just a series with all sorts of tacky jokes; there's a path with a beginning, middle, and end. Another thing they use a lot are plot twists; there are actually several. In both seasons, they use this resource, which is honestly spectacular.
Aside from not offending, the series' other purpose is to critique governments, corporations, and society itself for their approach to these issues of forced inclusion, believing they're doing good when in reality they aren't, because these people's real problems aren't being addressed. You have to have a sharp writing style and a honed sense of humor to be able to do these things and ultimately be recognized, because yes, this series was even nominated for an Emmy. The actors are very good; their performances are very natural; they make you laugh genuinely, and they're backed by a very well-written script.
There are two seasons: the first with eight episodes, the second with six, but they're quick to watch because each episode is about 20-25 minutes long. I think it's one of the best I've seen lately, especially on Netflix. Unfortunately, they didn't want to renew it, but the way it ends is great because it wraps up all the characters' arcs; there are no unfinished stories. If you like humor, dark comedy, and satire, this series is for you. I guarantee you'll enjoy it and laugh a lot. I'll leave the trailer here.
Today I finally finished the movie that I've been meaning to watch completely. I've already watched it before, but I really find it too long to finish, and later on, I forget about finishing it. However, since I'll be reviewing Filipino movies this month, I decided to rewatch it yesterday and finally finished it. So, before we proceed to my review, let me briefly introduce what this movie is all about and how it was able to infuse a little bit of our country's history and also our folklore. Without further dilly-dallying, let's start!
About the Movie
Mallari is a drama and horror movie that was released way back in 2023. This is more than a couple of hours movie directed by Derick Cabrido. So the gist of this movie is that it's a fictional reimagining of the story of the first documented Filipino serial killer—Fr. Juan Sevirino Mallari. He was a parish priest during the Spanish colonial period, and when his crimes were discovered, he was imprisoned and later hanged in 1840. Before he was busted, he managed to kill 57 people—all because he wanted to save his sick mother.
This movie starts with a murder committed by him. He killed the woman who stole something, and just when the priest found out that her child was alive, hiding among tall bushes, the scene shifted. From the 1800s, it now showed a happy scene where Dr. Jonathan Mallari proposed to his fiancée. However, shortly after the proposal, he disappeared, leaving his bride-to-be baffled and angry. It turned out he dreamt that something bad would happen to her, and to avoid it, he needs to find the solution before the tragedy starts.
Little did he know that there was more to their grim family history and truth after truth comes to light. He will soon discover that to save his future with his fiancée, he must find the solution in his family's past. A decision must be made before it gets too late. Will he descend on the dark path his ancestors had taken, or will he choose the ones that were made by the latter ones?
I expected that it would be a historical rather than a horror, but I'm mistaken. The moment I heard the weeping, I was immediately creeped out. I really don't like hearing such because I have an unfortunate, creepy encounter with weeping ladies. When I hear that in horror movies I watched, I'm immediately convinced that it would spook the hell out of me—and indeed, it did. The horror factor was definitely there, and it did have jump scares that I think would surprise you. Also, the blend of visuals and sounds scared me and I wouldn't deny it.
However, if I'm to watch it without sound, I think it'll be less scary. The faces of the ghosts aren't that terrifying. Maybe I've seen more terrifying portrayals, so I'm quite desensitized to how they look. Perhaps the one that terrified me visually is how their set look. Even without thos ghosts, the old house setting was spooky enough. The figures of saints and also the antiques were just unsettling, and the rocking chair! The sound of it rocking without a person on it was just unnerving. Further, the cemetery that they included was something that would haunt my dreams. The disturbing statues there were properly utilized to induce more fear in that scene, and honestly, I'm more scared of those statues than the ghosts.
Enough with visuals, one of the things that I somehow like in this movie is how they're able to compress the story of the three generations of the Mallari. The way they narrate them was quite unconventional, and also at times it was confusing because it's different eras in one movie. Also, there are times they just abruptly shift from one era to another, and it quite disrupts the momentum of the story. But the good thing about those shifts is, as I've mentioned, they're able to tell the story of those three Mallaris without making them too long to follow. They just featured the important events in their lives, which is nice because it wasn't dragging that way.
And honestly, it took time for me to find it interesting because I'm curious about how and why Fr. Mallari did those killings—which was later on revealed in the latter part of the movie. I'm not familiar with his story, but I heard his name before, and because of that unfamiliarity, I was surprised by how it turned out. I'm really fond of our folklore, so the moment I saw some familiar creatures appearing, I was filled with excitement. Their portrayal made me remember the things I've researched before, and it felt nostalgic. I mean, it just felt nice watching something with the lore I'm familiar with.
Overall, for me, this movie wasn't exactly a convincing historical retelling of Fr. Mallari's life; however, the fictional concept of three Mallari generations suffering the same fate was interesting. I know some may not like how they compressed their stories through a mix of POVs from different eras, but for me, it's fine. Each scene had me on the edge of my seat, and somehow the end was on the neutral side. It wasn't exactly what I would call satisfying because for me, it wasn't the end I like. I'm more into tragedies, so I guess you can already deduce how it ended. But if you're curious about what happened in between and why Fr. Mallari resorted to killing just to save his mother, then you need to try watching this movie!
And before I end this review, I'll share with you its trailer, so—
Have you seen this movie before? Or is this your first time watching it? If you have some comments about it, then please do share them. That's all for today, everyone! I hope you somehow enjoyed reading my review.

I did not intend to love this drama. But truth to tell, I was just after a thing soft and dreamy to kill time. However, after the opening minute of watching Playful Kiss I was not able to stop. As a female Nigerian, this story was like a magnet that lured me and did not leave me alone. It was sweet, funny, frustrating, touching and surprising. I was moved by some moments I had not anticipated. I chuckled when I was there. I recognized myself more than anything though, in the story.
The protagonist, Oh Ha-Ni, is not the ordinary drama heroine. She isn't bright. She has no power. Not even confident. Yet she is very much in love and very honest. That was what I fell in love with. She was imperfect as real. She penned a love letter to the most intelligent kid, Baek Seung-Jo, at school, even when she knew no way he would like her. He humiliated her. He re-edited her along the lines of grammar and handed the letter back to her in the presence of the whole audience. That scene tore my heart out to her. It also revealed her courage. She was not ashamed of loving.
When I was thinking that the story was going to remain simple, something major occurred. Earthquake made her move out of her house and she along with her dad had to move into a relative who is a friend of her dad. Guess who? Seung-Jo’s family. She was now staying under the same roof with the boy that had rejected her. I got goosebumps to that twist. I just could not wait to see how it would turn out. Hoping to torture her more? Would he at last look at her heart? So many questions I had. I watched because of that suspense.
Seung-Jo acted a little cold at first. He was treating her as though she is irrelevant. He was very impolite and he treated himself objectively better than everyone. I did not like him very much. However gradually it began to dawn on me that perhaps, just perhaps there was something that he might be trying to conceal. He did not know how to express emotions. People had all his life been commending him on his intelligence and he did not know how to love. That helped me to thaw out towards him some. And when he began to work with her at studying, to speak more to her, and even to smile once in a while at her, I wanted both of them to be in love.
And yet it never was easy. Ha-Ni was chasing after him all the time. She trailed behind to college. She attempted to do all the things that he was fond of. She neglected herself in order to get closer to him. And that irritated me. I wished her to get out of sleep and feel that she deserved better. I yelled at my screen a number of times: “Ha-Ni, you deserve it!” Quit bumming love!” But I knew her as well. When you get so in love with somebody you forget yourself at times. You believe that by putting added effort you will be loved in return.
The rain scene is one of the most emotional scenes that I could play. Ha-Ni was aiming to forget. She even made a date with another guy. But Seung-Jo appeared, took her in the rain and kissed her. It was not only a love kiss. It was bathed with heart and suffering and veracity. He sounded to me as though he said, I love you, but I don't know how to say it. I was melted at that moment. That was when I felt that they were really in love.
I also loved another character of Seung-jo mother. Hysterical that woman. Yet behind the jokes she did something which counted. She opened the house wide to her. She was urging her son not to be uncaring. She gave me this feeling that love could really win when there was a person who could cheer the two on.
Next was the boy Bong Joon-Gu who always loved Ha-Ni. He was vocal, theatrical and could get over the top. He was deadly earnest, however. He would have treated her as queen. For a moment, I wished that she would rather take him. He recognized her value on the first day. However, life is not all about the person that loves you more. There are times when the heart chooses who it may.
At the end of the episodes, I saw Ha-Ni grow gradually. She began to learn to find her dreams. She entered the nursing school. She got to know people. She began to act not only on behalf of Seung-Jo. That brought me pride. She still does love him but now she is learning to love herself as well. And that is what carried its message to my soul. Love one, yes--but never lose yourself in so doing.
Later in the drama Seung-Jo has fessed up that he loves her. With small deeds and not with a great speech. He began appearing. He defended her. He picked her. When other men would get near he even got jealous. His love was not big--but it was true. It was that gradual transformation that caused the trip to be worthwhile.
They married in the last episodes. Oh, I hollered! After all the hard fighting, all the rejection, all the waiting--she was his wife. However, after the marriage, things were not perfect though. They still debated. He still was cold occasionally. She still was emotional. That is life though. Love does not cure all. It just provides someone to walk through life.
By watching Playful Kiss I felt connected to my personal journey. Feeling invisible, giving more than I should and feeling undeserving are some of the moments I have experienced. However, this play enlightened me that love is not a mere war of sentiments, it is a matter of development. It is simply about supporting somebody, even when somebody is not easy to love. It is about how to stand on your own two feet even when your heart belongs to another person.
The drama has things which I did not like. On some occasions, Seung-Jo was too cold. His conversion was delayed too long. Other times, Ha-Ni is over-dependent. I would have liked her better. I wished she would scream, and struggle, and tell them, I want more! Even as I did so though, I knew her reserved power. Not only did she love with just words, but with patience and action.
A play kiss is imperfect. It is beautiful, though. It is about two dysfunctional individuals who see the possibility to fit. It reminds one that love is not necessarily fireworks and magic. At times it is clumsy, tedious, irritating and littered with errors. But when two individuals are open to develop, love can blossom- no matter how unusual the soil.
I am a Nigerian woman and this drama was personal. It led me to believe in soft love one more time. It made me laugh in the thought that at some point I will be appreciated by someone somewhere and even though it might take time. And above all it made me remember I can be soft, emotional and at the same time be strong.
So when you want some drama that will make you laugh, cry, scream and hope, then a playful kiss can be your thing. It is not to watch it when it is perfect, but the process. On the feelings. To the message that even the tiniest love is one that can blossom to be something great, so long as you do not give up.
We all sometimes need just a little love to remind us of all that love may appear.
Wow. I never thought I’d live to see a K‑drama pivot from cheesy innocence to something this explicit. S‑Line threw all our classic romance expectations out the window and, honestly, I wasn’t ready for it.
The Storyline
Shin Hyun‑Heup (Arin) can see S‑Lines, glowing red threads above people’s heads indicating past sexual partners. She’s seen them since birth. Lee Soo‑Hyuk plays Detective Han Ji‑Wook, pulled into a series of mysterious deaths tied to these lines. Lee Da‑Hee is Gyu‑Jin, a homeroom teacher who unexpectedly sees S‑Lines too, and gets entangled deeper than she planned. Lee Eun‑Saem portrays Kang Seon‑Ah, a student who exploits the glasses to ascend socially, her hidden line story disrupting everything.
What Actually Happened (My Experience)
I watched it in a blur and not in a good way. The premise felt tight at first, but after episode one, it unraveled into chaos. Important plotlines never materialized: Why could Hyun‑Heup see S‑Lines from birth? What is Gyu‑Jin’s motivation beyond shock value? And why was the detective drowning in so many lines when we barely got context or backstory?
There were zero explanations for most of this. Just one gimmick, S‑Line, and a tangle of scenes that added no emotional weight.
Standout Performances
Even though the story grated on me, the acting was solid. Lee Soo‑Hyuk’s detective carried a calm intensity, and Arin (formerly Oh My Girl’s Arin) showed real depth as Hyun‑Heup, quiet, haunted, resilient.
Scenes were stylized and cinematic, and yes, the music (Cannes award–winning) was hauntingly good.
What Fell Flat
Zero moral arc. Zero resolution. Just S‑Lines on repeat. No build-up, no payoff, just shock value without substance.
But imagine seeing that red line above your husband, your teacher, and your sister without context. That’s how bizarre it felt, no real character depth, just endless exposure without meaning.
Maybe if it stayed in fantasy territory, but it tried crime twist near the end with no bridge. They introduced the homeroom teacher’s obsession, then dropped it. Bullying plotlines vanished. The season ended before we even understood half the characters.
It felt like someone had a one‑hit concept and just stretched it thin. The show felt designed to shock, not to connect. Not since shows like Squid Game or All of Us Are Dead has an OTT drama felt this testosterone-heavy and plot‑light. And that song of silence? My little brother definitely didn’t join me when I watched.
My personal rating: One star out of five, because if you can’t rate zero, that’s all I’ve got.
Final Thought
I’m here for juicy, complex drama, and S‑Line had potential. But it ended up feeling like an exercise in boundary-pushing without emotional stakes.
So yes, I’m frustrated. The one time I tried crime-mystery thriller, it ended bad. What a waste of time!
What did you think of the homeroom teacher or the drama in general? I’m dying to know.

Hello everyone, I hope you are all feeling super cool, this time I want to share a new review, I will talk about an anime that I thought would be different, and I ended up having mixed feelings about.. today I will give you my opinion of: Mysterious Disappearances.. The point is, imagine: modern Japan, but underneath there are super strange things happening.. like, people disappearing just like that, and everything connected to Japanese myths, very old, urban legends and even other waves of oriental folklore, that premise, right from the start, caught me immediately, you know? I am a fan of supernatural mysteries that are based on real mythology.. it gives it all that kind of creepy vibe of "what if it were true?" which I love, well, the story follows this couple who works in a bookstore... first there's Sumireko Ogawa, she's a novelist who's suffering from a terrible writer's block, but physically... okay, let's talk about this already because it was a constant distraction and, honestly, quite annoying... the level of "fan service" with her is taken to the extreme, maybe even beyond!
I'm talking about ridiculously exaggerated proportions that felt... gratuitous? Look, I understand that anime does these things, but here it often felt so unnecessary and, honestly, a little absurd... there were times when I was really shocked by how exaggerated and almost alien her body looked, she looked like a caricature made just for morbidity, and it often took me completely out of the story. I kept thinking, "Does anyone really look like that? And more importantly, why does she have to look like that?" It's a super noticeable part of her design, and I have to warn you all: if that kind of thing bothers you a lot, it might be a big "but," for me, it really was at times, and I felt like it took away from the seriousness of her character, and that's a shame because the idea of a writer investigating the occult should be great.
Well, leaving that aside... her co-worker is Ren Adashino, he's the complete opposite: quiet, kind of nerdy, but with a really intense vibe of mystery, you immediately realize he knows a lot more than he seems, especially about all those creepy things that are going on... he knows a ton about the occult, curses, folklore... everything, you name it! And the dynamic between them? It's... weird, but it's definitely one of the coolest things, Sumireko is like the daring one (maybe too much, because of how she was drawn, you know), kind of gossipy, and she's drawn to strange events, partly out of a writer's curiosity and partly because, well, strange things keep happening to her, Ren is like the calm guide, the one who knows, the one who often gets them out of trouble or gives them just that key piece of information they need to understand what monster or old thing they encountered that week. Seeing how their relationship grows, how little by little they gain trust, and how they manage to get out of these dangerous situations together, honestly, really hooks you in.
It's not just your classic coworker relationship; there's a kind of strange tension, a push and pull that keeps you interested in both them and the mysteries. And speaking of mysteries, the way the series is written is pretty good at keeping you glued. It's not one long, long story that lasts the entire season and can get dense. Rather, it's divided into smaller mysteries, which almost always resolve themselves, and that last about a couple of chapters. Each one deals with a different disappearance, a specific curse, or some apparition connected to some obscure legend. One week it's a ghost from a fairy tale, and the next, it's a curse that started with an object that looked like anything. This episodic approach works really well because it gives you a quick closure, but there are also little things that connect everything together... you constantly have new little mysteries to solve alongside the characters.
And well, the supernatural and horror thing is present, we're talking about real curses that have effects that are felt and are often scary, visions of ghosts and encounters with things that definitely keep you awake at night... it leans more towards the suspense of the environment, towards psychological terror, than showing blood and guts everywhere, which I really appreciated. It creates this great atmosphere of intrigue, where the normal world feels fragile, as if at any moment you could stumble and fall into something ancient and terrifying. It perfectly nails that feeling of Japanese horror where the most ordinary thing suddenly becomes a threat... imagine looking at dusty shelves one minute, and the next, you're dealing with a vengeful spirit stuck to a photo... that mix of the everyday, the semi-boring—like working in a bookstore, dealing with not being able to write—with these sudden eruptions of the Supernatural, with a capital S, is probably what I liked most about the series.
It makes the scary stuff feel closer and even believable in a way. Now, while the mysteries are good, I do have one complaint there... sometimes, especially Ren, he gets a little too clever with his explanations… I mean, the show sometimes falls into the trap of having him go on long speeches about the specific myth or curse in question. And while the details are fascinating (seriously, I learned a couple of interesting things about folklore), there were times when I felt like it slowed down the pace too much... instead of letting the tension build or letting us piece together the puzzle with visual clues or more subtle dialogue, they gave us a mini-lecture. Not that it ruined the experience, but sometimes I wish they'd trusted us as the audience a little more and let the mystery breathe, you know?
Show, not just tell... sometimes it seemed to take away the excitement just when it needed to be at its peak... To add more flavor to the broth, there's Ren's younger sister, Oto Adashino. She doesn't appear all the time, but she's important. She has this special ability: she can see supernatural "warning signs," like dark figures or strange things that tell her when something cursed or dangerous is nearby... She's this quiet, half-disturbing girl, who seems overwhelmed by this gift she has. Her presence, along with Ren's protectiveness of her, adds more depth to the mystery surrounding the Adashino siblings.
So what's the conclusion? Look, the truth is, I started watching it thinking it was going to be your typical supernatural mystery, maybe a run-of-the-mill one, but I was pleasantly surprised by how they managed to mix the cases in each episode with the development of the protagonists' relationship and the backstory of the Adashino brothers. The atmosphere was often well done, it got you into the groove, and the use of not-so-well-known Japanese and Eastern myths was a real plus, to be honest... what really brought me down a bit, or rather, what really bothered me the whole time, was the over-the-top fan service with Sumireko. It felt cheesy and often took away from the character, who was otherwise interesting, and also from the serious tone the series was trying to maintain. And the fact that sometimes everything was explained in great detail was also another stumbling block... but despite those complaints, especially the one about Sumireko's design, which I did find in poor taste at times, the truth is that I did get hooked on the world and the main relationship. The mysteries were quite interesting, the creepy vibe was certainly there, and the doubts about Ren and Oto had me there, clicking the "next episode" button. If I had to give it a rating, I think I'd give it a 7/10.
Why a 7? Well look, the main idea is good, the dynamic between Sumireko and Ren is interesting (when it’s not overshadowed by that questionable character design), the mysteries in each chapter are generally well done, and how they introduce folklore is great… the atmosphere can get really creepy, and the Adashino backstory adds depth, but it does lower points, quite a few in my opinion, because of the constant fan service that sometimes didn’t seem to fit with Sumireko at all – it felt like a huge mistake that took away from parts of the experience… it’s a good series, even very good at times, but those little flaws keep it from being totally great, really… and well, that’s all for today, see you in the next reviews, take care! Bye!

Hello everyone, I hope everyone is well. Today I'm bringing you a special anime, where romance, mystery and emotion interact with each other in a very special way. The title may seem a little strange to some, Lazy Bunny Girl Senpai Does Not Dream, but believe me, this story is completely different from what it seems.
Summer themes such as loneliness, invisible suffering, emotional development, everything is brought to the fore in this anime. It teaches us that even in a crowd of people, one can feel completely invisible. Come with me as I dive into the ongoing and inexplicable lives of Sakuta and Mai.
Story Summary
Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai is the story of a high school girl named Sakuta Azusagawa, whose life is by no means ordinary. Then one day he sees a girl wearing a bunny suit walking into a library where no one pays attention to her. This girl is Mai Sakurajima, an actress who is going through a strange condition known as teenage syndrome after a breakup. This strange disorder leads to supernatural consequences through emotional trauma or stress. In Mai's case, it makes her invisible to the people around her.
As Sakuta helps Mai realize and overcome the problems of her condition, she encounters other girls with other types of teenage syndrome who are unique in their ability to relate to issues related to social anxiety, self-identity, memory loss, and emotional scars. The story is divided into different circles, as each circle is dedicated to a different girl and her personal psychological inner struggles.
Aside from the semblance of the supernatural, the show deals seriously with real-life mental health issues like depression and loneliness, and the desire to be seen or heard. It is through her warm but tough character that the main character, Sakuta, transforms into a silent savior who allows every girl to fight her inner demons.
This show is a good mix of mystery, drama, romance, and humor, and the show is also very rooted in its emotionally resonant drama. Behind the strange name and fan service lies a mature, intelligent anime that has something to say to the heart.
My Review
Bunny Girl Senpai unexpectedly turns out to be a very touching and philosophically shaking project. What started out as a regular romantic comedy turned into a metaphorical discussion on otherness, trauma, and teenage problems. Sakuta is one of the most interesting and uncensored main characters I've ever seen, and Mai is a perfect contrast between mature, vulnerable, and strong.
The anime is a mix of supernatural elements, combined with realistic depictions of mental problems, and it mixes the tone of "A Silent Voice" with its own flavor. I especially liked that each arc was almost self-contained as a standalone story and yet was still part of a larger story.
The music and art are concise but appropriate and the dialogue is fun without being too complicated. This is a series that doesn't lean too far and keeps you hooked and thinking long after the episode is over. If you're a fan of anime that combines romance, mystery, and emotional truth, then this is definitely a must-have for your watch-list. That's it for today.
Thanks you so much for reading. See you next :)

I haven't watched K-dramas for a while because I was bored with the same genres and stories... But recently, I've started watching them again because I've found some interesting ones. One of them is the one I'm going to discuss this time. The title of the K-drama I'm going to discuss is Head Over Heels... and Let's get straight to it!
The Story Line
This drama tells the story of a young shaman named Seong Ah who is very talented and has many customers. But actually she is just an ordinary high school student who dreams of living like an ordinary person and falls in love with a handsome man. One day there is a grandmother who comes to her for treatment, the grandmother brings a young man named Geon U who is her grandson. At that time Seong Ah immediately fell in love at first sight ... and this is her first love. But unfortunately, at that time Seong Ah also found out that the life of her first love was only 21 days left because many evil spirits were targeting her. A few days later Seong Ah met Geon U again who was a transfer student at her school and at that time she was determined that she would save Geon U and would protect him from evil spirits.
What's interesting about the k-drama Head Over Heels
An interesting and refreshing story
This K-drama has a storyline that I think is refreshing... It's rare to find a drama where the main character is a teenage shaman. The love story of the main characters is also very sweet, their interactions make the audience addicted. The friendship of the main characters with their friends at school is also very cute. The story about their family is also very touching. While watching this drama, I could get carried away by the atmosphere... crying during sad scenes and smiling during adorable scenes.
Good acting and strong chemistry
Another thing that made me love this drama was the acting of the cast... especially the two leads, Cho Yi Hyun and Choo Young Woo. Their acting was excellent and their chemistry was strong. Their chemistry with the other cast members was also great... especially with their classmates.
Just the right number of episodes
Too many episodes in a drama can sometimes make the plot boring... But too short episodes can also make the story feel rushed. Head Over Heels has twelve episodes, which I think is just right...
Conclusion
The conclusion I came to after watching this drama: Fighting for the impossible may seem foolish... but whatever the outcome, at least we tried. No one is born evil... but whether we choose to be good or evil is our choice. No matter how bad a child is, a mother will never give up on her child.
Thank you for reading my blog... hope you like it! have a nice day! 😊
The title got me curious 🧐, I loved mystery, adventure, horror, fantasy in fact I love everything. But to be sincere when I first came across this title I immediately found it interesting, I didn't need anyone to tell me it's going to be interesting. I was curious to know what Juicy secret the witch held, was a a magic portion secret I couldn't tell till I decided to find out.
Monica Everett, known as the “Silent Witch,” cast magic without chanting, not through arrogance, but through crippling social anxiety. As someone who connects deeply with quiet, introspective characters, I was intrigued. Then I saw the early feedback calling it “a surprise hit of Summer 2025” and the glowing 4.9/5 rating on Crunchyroll—I’d found my next must‑watch fantasy destiny.
Monica Everett is a young mage - a genius who once at the age of fifteen years became one of the Seven Sages due to her mastering an unknown skill to cast spells without uttering them, which saved her fear in public speaking. All this changes when Sage Louis Miller enlists her in a mysterious mission to work undercover at Serendia Academy to keep the Prince Felix under protection without ever exposing her identity. That choice starts an adventure of comedic awkwardness, magical combat, and emotional growth.
The fact that the title Silent Witch is not only about her magical talent but also her inner silence and the whole identity of Monica is formed around her unwillingness to speak, to hide in the corner. But the destiny makes her take a step into crowded corridors, school dances and even rough threats. The fact that she is powerful and yet shy is the pulse of the series.
Studio Gokumi has provided spectacular graphics- lush mountains to candle-lit school corridors filled with enchantment. Movement is fluid and heavy; each movement not accompanied by incant comes with a purpose. Both viewers and critics were amazed by its production value, which was considered a surprise among Summer 2025 releases.
The atmosphere is quiet fantasy, warm humor. Monica has anxieties such as stuttering, fear of crowds, hyperventilating, and they might sound melodramatic but the show is gentle to them. She is not a joke. She's relatable. Reddit enthusiasts concluded: “The fact that her social anxiety is tied to a super rare skill is a clever way to go about it, and they did it well, IMO.”
The critics observe that the series balances emotion and magic very lightly and profoundly. The sound creates a gentle melancholic tone, the sound design manipulates silence into an existing creature that echoes the solitude Monica finds herself in.
The character design of Monica is deceiving: the girl is timid, bookish, terror-stricken. She is not a damsel, though. As the episodes go by she matures, first into secretiveness in a mountain cottage and then into the subtext, bodyguard work, and suspicions among peers. She develops in a rather unobtrusive way. Social awkwardness is one thing, but fans loved her development, saying that she is not only socially awkward-but a complex character.
The emotional warmth is manifested in the episodes that concentrate on the relationships, particularly with her cat-familiar Nero and other students, such as Isabelle and Lana. The tender invitation provided by Isabelle allows Monica to leave the isolation not by force but by kindness which is a fantastic twist in the storytelling that has been examined by The Silverfrost Wolf
Although highly acclaimed, the pacing was too slow to some viewers. The initial episode takes the safer route of exposition, with Monica being unsure and uncomfortable at the beginning of the first episode taking up the pace of the story. Anime Feminist noted the premiere to be charming, but indicated that we needed more storytelling by visual means rather than excessive dialogue dumps.
Others said that Monica was a bore at the beginning, too shy, too careful as compared to the usual fantasy anime. That was frequently moderated later on, however, when her nervousness started being underlaid by emotional intricacy.
Two sequences have stuck with me, one the flashback when Monica slays the dragon with her magic which, in this case, has no chant but bursts in silent strength; the other the first day of school at the academy where a class of would-be wizards are all social misfits and are all expected to fulfill their destiny as wizards. These two scenes contradict each other and reflect the central conflict of her character: she is invincible alone and weak in social places.
I was gasping as Monica is forced to attend a party along with her nervousness oozing in each scene. She then learns to trust other people, even in a small percentage. I wanted to applaud a little at that arc, not because she had succeeded despite her fear but because she had not given over in the face of it.
To me, Silent Witch was not a magic show, but it was a mirror. Being a person who tends to seek the least attention possible, the internal conflict of Monica was close to home. Seeing her put up defenses so she would not need to talk was like those tiny shields we put up in our daily lives.
Her tale accessed the goodness of gradual courage. She does not change into something the next day. She does not turn out to be an extrovert. Rather--by friendliness, accidents, faith--she learns little types of courage. It is that subtle change that made this show emotionally gripping.
Secrets of the Silent Witch is a low-key magical, emotionally touching, and quite potent novel. It runs at a steady tempo and can appear modest at the very beginning, but it is slowly gaining momentum to become something special: a fantasy where fear and genius are not incompatible, where spells do not require noises to be effective. At 4.9/5 on Crunchyroll, critics are calling it one of the best of Summer 2025, along with titans such as Kaiju No. 8 Season 2.
Even its initial reviews referred to it as the most impressive premiere of the season, and my experience proves it to be true: a heroine who does not have to say a word in order to make a point

Homicide: Life on the Street, a series renowned for its gritty realism and unflinching portrayal of urban crime, faced an ironic misfortune in its final season. The show’s concluding episodes, including The Why Chromosome, inadvertently mirrored elements of the Columbine High School massacre, a national tragedy that gripped the United States in the spring of 1999. Though The Why Chromosome was not originally intended to echo such events, its plot—centred on the murder of a teenage girl near a school—unwittingly resonated with the trauma of Columbine. This episode, initially not slated as the penultimate instalment, became so after scheduling shifts forced by the abrupt cancellation of its predecessor, Lines of Fire, which was deemed too dark in the wake of the massacre.
The episode’s position as the penultimate story was not merely a matter of chronology but a consequence of logistical chaos. Originally, Lines of Fire, an episode was set to air prior to The Why Chromosome. However, after Columbine, producers feared its dark content might exacerbate public sensitivities, leading to its cancellation. Identity Crisis, another episode, was moved to fill the gap. Yet this reshuffling introduced continuity issues: Identity Crisis concluded with FBI Agent Mike Giardello resigning, a decision that contradicted his presence in both Lines of Fire and The Why Chromosome. While the DVD reordering later smoothed these inconsistencies, the initial broadcast left audiences confused about character arcs, underscoring the series’ rushed and disorganised finale.
The Why Chromosome follows Detectives Sheppard and Ballard as they investigate the brutal murder of Jackie Kelb, a 15-year-old Black girl found with the tattoo “Destiny” on her body. The case is notable for its rare focus on two female detectives—Ballard and Shepard—working independently of their male colleagues. Autopsy reveals Jackie was beaten days before her death and had sex shortly beforehand. The investigation leads to her sister, Tonya “Chrystal” Kelb (Samantha Brown), a gang member who initially resists cooperation. Meanwhile, Jackie’s relationship with Damon “Casper” Kelly (J. D. Williams), a teenage boy whose alibi crumbles under scrutiny, complicates the case. However, it is Kelly’s girlfriend, Denise “Neeecee” Raeburn (Cloie Wyatt Taylor), whose jealousy over Jackie’s affair with her boyfriend emerges as the primary motive. Before the detectives can apprehend her, Denise is found dead, leaving Tonya as the prime suspect, driven by a desire to avenge her sister’s death. The episode concludes with Tonya’s arrest and a possible plea for manslaughter, though her sudden decision to abandon her gang lifestyle hints at unresolved tensions.
Written by Anya Epstein, The Why Chromosome stands out as one of Homicide’s most overtly feminist episodes. It examines how women, both in the police force and on the streets, navigate and are constrained by gender stereotypes. Ballard and Shepard’s collaboration—uncommon for the series, which often paired male-female duos—reflects the underrepresentation of female leads in policing. Meanwhile, the Kelb sisters embody the destructive mimicry of male aggression. Raised in a gang environment, they adopt tattoos, tough postures, and a “solve conflicts through violence” ethos, proving that girls can be as ruthless as their male counterparts.
The episode’s most haunting element is the portrayal of the Kelb family’s disintegration. Their mother, Janice, played by Starr Walker, is a passive figure incapable of curbing her daughters’ descent into gang life or protecting their youngest sister, Rochelle. The youngest, just 11, is groomed for a similar fate, perpetuating a cycle of abuse that began with her father’s physical violence. However, a fleeting moment of hope emerges when Tonya, during an attempted escape, warns Rochelle not to follow her path. This epiphany, though brief, suggests a fragile possibility of breaking the cycle—a rare glimmer in an otherwise bleak narrative.
The episode’s weakest element is its subplot involving Detective Munch and his fiancée, Billie Lou. Their impending wedding is overshadowed by Billie Lou’s request for Munch to help her neighbour, stalked by her ex-boyfriend Jay Faris (played by Eric Red Schroeder). Munch’s intervention backfires when the ex-attacks Billie Lou at a bar, leading to his arrest. The subplot, though well-intentioned, feels tonally mismatched and poorly executed. Its focus on pre-marital squabbles and minor harassment dilutes the gravity of the main storyline, which could have delved deeper into the complexities of the Kelb sisters’ lives.
Had Epstein prioritised the main narrative over the Munch subplot, The Why Chromosome could have been more impactful. The relationships between the female gang members—particularly the tensions between Jackie and Denise—are underdeveloped, reduced to montage sequences and convenient Polaroid evidence. A more nuanced exploration of their motivations, rivalries, and the pressures of gang culture might have deepened the episode’s critique of gender and violence. Instead, the subplot’s presence undermines the potential for a more cohesive, emotionally resonant story.
Despite its flaws, The Why Chromosome remains a compelling entry in Homicide’s canon. Its strength lies in its performances, particularly J. D. Williams as Damon “Casper” Kelly. His confident, almost smug portrayal of a teenage male who mocks female detectives during interrogation foreshadows his iconic role as Bodie in The Wire. Williams’ ability to embody both arrogance and vulnerability makes his character memorable, even in a secondary role.
The Why Chromosome is a flawed yet potent episode, hampered by external circumstances and narrative missteps but elevated by its feminist themes and standout performances. Its accidental parallels to Columbine and internal continuity issues serve as a reminder of the precarious balance between art and real-world tragedy.
Hello, anime fans. Let's talk about a japanese animated series in the fantasy genre that caught my attention, not because of its animation quality or its characters, but because of its simply captivating story. A work that went largely unnoticed last season, despite how promising it is. Based on the light novel series of the same name written by Saka and illustrated by Chorefuji, Once Upon a Witch's Death is an animated adaptation produced by the studio ETM Squared. Discover one of those anime series that will make you laugh and cry at the same time.

The anime begins by introducing us to Meg Raspberry, a 17-year-old apprentice witch. On her birthday, all her happiness vanishes instantly when Faust, her magic teacher and guardian, tells her that she will die. But not right away, rather in a year's time, when she turns 18. The only solution offered by her teacher and one of the Seven Sages (the most powerful wizards in existence) of this magical world is for her to collect the tears of happiness from 1,000 people before she comes of age, thereby breaking the curse on our young protagonist. This mission, already complicated in itself, will become almost impossible as she faces various problems and obstacles that arise in her daily life as an apprentice.

Trama
This anime is yet another example of how searching through so much generic, low-budget trash each season is worth it. When I find a hidden gem in this huge anime industry that almost no one talks about, it gives me enough satisfaction to keep going with all this. In this case, Once Upon a Witch's Death is not just any fantasy anime, but a wonderful story full of strong emotions that hooks you from the start. Ever since I stumbled upon this type of anime about witches and wizards, I haven't stopped being surprised by the number of interesting works that are worth watching. If you're also looking for something that will impress you, excite you, and make you shed a tear, then stick around until the end.
I guess from what you've just read above, you already have some idea of what this anime is like. If you thought it was dramatic, you're right. But there's one more detail that this series has that other similar dramatic works don't: humor. And I don't mean the typical heavy humor, much less double entendres. It's more like a natural way of adding humor to a dramatic story of this style. I'm referring to the way things happen suddenly and ironically at the same time. The personality of the protagonist also has a big impact, as Meg Raspberry is a charismatic, cheerful, and witty girl. Upon receiving the news that she will die in a year, instead of breaking down or crying like many would, she chooses to immediately look for a way to end the curse without losing her composure and good humor.

Personally, I like that we have a protagonist who brings a touch of excitement and joy to this somewhat tragic story, to be honest. From the beginning, you can easily empathize with her, identifying with some of her behaviors and decisions. She thinks and behaves like any other teenager her age, except that she has a curse in a fantasy world full of magic, witches, and dangers of all kinds. The way we see Meg Raspberry develop throughout the anime is admirable, as her decision to collect tears of happiness from people she wants to help leads her into endless situations that constantly test her.
Returning to the main plot, you're probably wondering if we'll see every case of every person our young protagonist and apprentice witch plans to help in the 12 episodes of the anime. While we will see some cases, it won't be an orderly, linear sequence of events like other stories that concern themselves with such details. In this case, we will only see cases that, while they may not seem impressive, end up showing us a side of this fantasy world that we would never have imagined existed. The cases may vary in terms of people, types, genres, and so on, but each and every one of these cases comes with a message and a lesson at the end.

Another detail I would like to mention about this anime is the interesting way it describes this fantastic, contemporary, and somewhat post-apocalyptic (if you will) world. What fascinates me most is how they describe the origin and functioning of magic, which is more than just an energy that exists in the world; it is something that can be modified and evolve with your emotions and bonds. While the anime doesn't have its moments of action with epic battles between wizards and witches, it does have its unforgettable moments where magic takes center stage. I like that these types of stories don't focus on the typical overused plot of heroes and villains. Instead, it focuses more on the search for happiness, spread across different cases and lives of all kinds.
Another point in favor of this anime is that, despite its numerous female characters, it has almost no fanservice. Speaking of characters, most of them manage to attract attention in particular ways in this series. Apart from our protagonist, whom we have already talked about enough, we also have several of the "Seven Sages" who are like the most powerful wizards in this magical world. Each one stands out for some quality, personality, or way of thinking that makes them unique in their own style. While there are patterns of secondary and generic characters that are always present in every fantasy anime, these are compensated for by their peculiar way of relating to our protagonist.

Other than that, I couldn't tell you any more without spoiling something from the anime. It's true that there are episodes that aren't as exciting and make us think we're watching some kind of slice-of-life show, but there are also episodes where you simply can't hold back the urge to cry because of the stories they tell. There are also a few cases that simply leave you feeling hopeless, until you are enlightened again by a good act of charity and kindness on the part of our young protagonist. The fact that Meg Raspberry is a girl who can save an entire city is something that I initially thought was quite exaggerated. However, throughout the episodes we see that she is very different from other wizards and witches in this world (something typical of protagonists).
Last but not least, let's talk about the audiovisual aspect of this anime. While it's not one of its strongest points, the studio in charge does one of its best jobs with this adaptation. Starting with the character design, the drawing style, the details, the visual effects, and the bright and vivid color palette are the most striking aspects of all. It may sometimes suffer from fluidity in its animation, but it makes up for it with its excellent work in terms of setting and landscapes. The sound effects are good, but what stands out most is the soundtrack, which perfectly conveys the emotions of each episode. If you're looking for something different from the usual fantasy genre, this anime is for you.
Personally, I give it a rating of 8/10 in terms of fantasy, comedy, and drama.

Hello, friends! Today I'm here to share my review of a recent Netflix release that I've been eagerly awaiting. I'm talking about My Oxford Year.
In this story, we follow Anna, a young American woman whose life has been planned out since childhood: college, a good job, and a year at Oxford to study poetry, which is her passion. She accomplishes all of this, and before starting an important job, she spends a year at Oxford University. But her plans are disrupted when she meets Jamie and is captivated by his intelligence and his understanding of poetry, and she falls in love with England and its history. So now she must decide whether to continue with her old plans or start over. The only thing she is sure of is that what weighs most heavily and what you regret most in life are the things you don't do.
It's a movie I was looking forward to seeing, and before doing so, I read some reviews, so I had a rough idea of what to expect and knew it wasn't just a simple romantic comedy as I had assumed. So I went in prepared to suffer, but in the end, it wasn't that bad in my opinion. I don't know if I was distracted or what, but it didn't move me as much as I had expected. It's sad, it has its share of drama, but I don't think it was one of those films that broke my heart.
It's a beautiful story that captivates you, drawing you in with its poetry and the way it's told. Those of us who feel a certain passion for books and art are sure to find magic in this film. But I have to admit that at some point I also found it monotonous and somewhat weak. It didn't keep me hooked, and I tended to get distracted while watching it. When a film grabs me right from the start, I'm glued to the screen, hardly blinking.
Don't get me wrong, it was enjoyable and beautiful to watch. I loved the cinematography, the landscapes they showed, and I like the lead actors, but I'm a little tired of the illness cliché and would like to see a movie where it doesn't come up every five minutes. I mean, I was expecting something like this, although I wasn't sure, but oh well. Sometimes it's a bit of a letdown to start a movie and see certain formulas like these repeated. I like clichés, but the good ones, not the bad ones that make you think about tragedies and why it has to happen this way.
I also found it optimistic in a way, and I liked that the decision of the people involved would be respected, even if it hurts or isn't what we had planned. I suppose this type of film reminds us how fleeting life can be and that we shouldn't be left wanting anything, even if we have doubts at first. Maybe it's the right path, but we'll never know if we don't take it and stay stuck in the mold. In that sense, it was thought-provoking.
In short, it was a nice movie, even though I expected more from it. It also has a couple of lines that stick with you, and you might find it charming. So if you like any of the things I mentioned, I recommend it.
