This post is going to be a strange one, definitely not the usual topics I'm writing about. I can't recall for sure, but I think I've only written once or two movie reviews and can't even remember when. What I'm going to write today is not going to be a proper review as others do here, but it is an important detail about a series I've been watching lately.

Today I'd like to talk about a Turkish TV series called Kimler Geldi Kimler Geçti or the English title, Thank You, Next.

I hope the Turkish users won't notice this as what I'm going to say next, won't be to their liking. Turkish are mostly known for making soap operas, movies that are not of value 😬 (again, hoping Turkish users won't notice my post). I have only seen one or two I think and those have been also by mistake as I had no idea they are Turkish. I only realized when I saw they are of extremely low quality.

I also know one Turkish film director and screenwriter, Ferzan Özpetek, who's works are exceptional by any standards, but he's Turkish-Italian, born in Istambul and moved to Italy at the age of 17.

This series looked ok on Netflix and after watching the trailer, I decided to give it a try, which turned out to be a good idea.

Upon recovering from the betrayal of her first love through the help of her friends and a handsome chef, a successful lawyer, Leyla Taylan, takes over the divorce case of the famous third wife Tuba Tepelioglu, also known as the case of the year. Facing her is Cem Murathan, a serial relationship killer, who got divorced from three different women in 15 years. Leyla will defend her client against this narcissistic man in the most passionate way. However this passion will blow up the whole situation.

It's a light series, entertaining, for those who don't want something serious and complicated. It's not perfect, not flawless, but I liked for several reasons.

First of all, it is far from the American crap you see these days, where the most important thing is for the characters to show off. It's totally different and maybe that's why I liked it.

Although it looks like a love story, it's not just that. It is more than that and the last episodes are full of food for thought, things everyone should think about.

A huge plus is Buddy, the lovely black Labrador, who is so adorable. My heart was aching for poor Buddy to be tossed from one to another, but this is not the main reason why I wanted to write about the series.

How To Ruin A Movie Or A Series

As a non Turkish speaker, I needed a language I understand and the most obvious was English. Luckily English audio was available and English subtitle as well, which was not needed though. I can honestly say that the audio was really good. The voices were pleasant and the translation was professional.

Then I thought let's check out the other available languages I understand, to see what those are like. My mother tongue is Hungarian, so I set the language to Hungarian and got the slap on my face at the first sentence. I could barely believe what I was hearing. At first I thought it's just a phase and the rest will be ok, but was wrong. What I got was the lowest slang and the ugliest version of the language and this is why I don't watch movies with Hungarian audio. Then I checked Italian, which was ok, quite enjoyable.

This matter made me think of what determines a movie's success? With Netflix and other online streaming services, most of the movies and series are available to everyone with a decent internet connection. With technology at the level we have it today, subtitle and audio in several languages is not as a big deal as it was years ago. This means any movie or series is available to almost everyone, but not everyone would rate it the same way.

Take my case for example. I chose English from the start and now I'm saying the series was quite good. If I would have chosen Hungarian, would have given up on it after the first 20 minutes because it was literally unwatchable because of the audio.

I'm not a movie fanatic to know all the details and secrets, so I have no idea who's ordering the audio in different languages, or who's supervising the production, but whoever it is, has damaged the series' reputation a lot. This is how you lose viewers and ruin the future of a movie or series.

I am more than disappointed and I'd like to know if you've been in this situation with languages you know. Let me know in a comment. Am I the only one with high standards when it comes to languages?

Leyla Taylan (Serenay Sarikaya), lead actor and one of my favorite characters in the series. She's a really colorful character. Another thing I loved about her was her style. Those clothes ... sometimes very unusual, quite extreme, but interesting.

The other character I liked was Feyyaz (Boran Kuzum), or Seyyaz, how Leyla called him. He has an interesting role and plays it well.

En febrero del 2023, Netflix estrenó una producción argentina, del género de comedia que llevó por nombre "División Palermo", la cual relató la historia de un grupo de personas representantes de las minorías y que son llamados a ser parte de una patrulla comunal organizada por la policía; este grupo de patrulleros originariamente deberían tener una función tranquila algo imposible por como son vistos por toda la sociedad, pero justamente, esa visión subestimada los hará ser parte importante de la lucha contra un extenso grupo criminal; está posiblemente predecible sinopsis es una manera muy sencilla de describir a una de las series más cómicas que he visto en los últimos años.

In February 2023, Netflix released an Argentine comedy production called "División Palermo", which told the story of a group of people representing minorities who are called upon to be part of a community patrol organized by the police. This group of patrol officers should originally have a quiet role, something impossible given how they are viewed by society as a whole, but it is precisely this underestimated view that will make them an important part of the fight against a large criminal group. This possibly predictable synopsis is a very simple way to describe one of the funniest series I have seen in recent years.

Está serie creada, co dirigida y escrita, pero principalmente protagonizada por Santiago Korovsky, es impresionantemente buena, en realidad es de lo mejor que he visto en Netflix porque es de esas producciones que es difícil de existir en este tiempo actual en el mundo del entrenamiento; esto porque no teme generar una visión cómica sobre el tema de la discapacidad, lo cual a la vez funciona de critica a lo que somos como sociedad por dar mucho valor a los esteriotipos en dónde la más importante es hacerlos sentir como algo menor y justamente esa manera de hacer comedia es muy inteligente y hasta puedo decir que es original porque no se escuda detrás del género.

La primera temporada contó con ocho episodios en dónde se desarrollan muy bien cada uno de los múltiples personajes, se les da el tiempo para enseñar su pasado, por supuesto su presente y lo que añoran en un futuro, eso me pareció excelente porque se pudo enfocar en los personajes principales, pero así se dio un completo sentido a que este era una unidad y así funcionó el relato de toda la primera parte de la historia; ahora para la segunda y lamentablemente última temporada, existe un cambio en dónde los personajes secundarios son justamente eso, pero eso no quiere decir que sean un simple relleno, a lo contrario, ellos siguen siendo importantes para la historia y mejor aún cuando hacen ingresar a nuevos personajes que también cumplen una gran función de ser inolvidables.

This series, created, co-directed, written, and starring Santiago Korovsky, is impressively good. In fact, it's one of the best things I've seen on Netflix because it's one of those productions that is difficult to find in today's world of entertainment. This is because it is not afraid to take a comical approach to the subject of disability, which in turn serves as a critique of who we are as a society for placing so much value on stereotypes, where the most important thing is to make them feel inferior. This approach to comedy is very clever, and I would even say original, because it does not hide behind the genre.

The first season had eight episodes in which each of the multiple characters was developed very well. They were given time to show their past, of course their present, and what they long for in the future. I thought that was excellent because it allowed the focus to be on the main characters, but it also gave a complete sense of unity, and that's how the story worked throughout the first part of the series. Now, for the second and unfortunately final season, there is a change where the secondary characters are just that, but that does not mean they are mere filler. On the contrary, they remain important to the story, and even better when new characters are introduced who also fulfill the important role of being unforgettable.

En los seis episodios que conforman está temporada, funcionan como un complemento de la anterior temporada, es una continuación inmediata, lo cual me pareció excelente así como contar con todo el cast original y mejor aún la inclusión de nuevos personajes y de situaciones que en mi opinión son más cómicas que la anterior, posiblemente el no contar con dos episodios más como ocurrió en la anterior temporada, hizo que todo fuera más directo, tanto en la generación de un nuevo caso, así como en nuevas situaciones cómicas lo cual creo que fluyen de manera natural por como son los personajes que ya no necesitan de una presentación, sino de una confirmación de lo que son para la historia, en eso tanto Korovsky como demás guionistas, realizaron un excelente trabajo y me hizo entender el porqué la decisión de terminar la serie en una segunda temporada.

The six episodes that make up this season serve as a complement to the previous season; it is an immediate continuation, which I thought was excellent, as was having the entire original cast and, even better, the inclusion of new characters and situations that, in my opinion, are funnier than the previous ones. Possibly not having two more episodes, as happened in the previous season, made everything more direct, both in the creation of a new case as well as in new comical situations, which I think flow naturally because the characters no longer need an introduction, but rather a confirmation of who they are for the story. In this regard, both Korovsky and the other screenwriters did an excellent job and made me understand why the decision was made to end the series after a second season.

En la temporada final de División Palermo, se me hizo imposible no ver la influencia de "BARRY", serie de HBO, en dónde justamente el humor negro se une con el drama lo cual genera situaciones que no deberían dar risa, pero al final son muy cómicas, justamente ese tipo de humor está presente en esta producción lo cual la hace impredecible en un principio, pero después es más que predecible al final y esto no es para nada una crítica negativa, lo cual como dije anteriormente, la historia fluye muy bien y cada situación es perfecta porque sigue el tono de lo que es esta producción, así que personalmente no hay nada que falle en esta producción. Recuerdo el momento de la confirmación de una segunda temporada la cual me sorprendió que no tuviera tanta promoción al momento de acercarse el estreno de la segunda y última temporada, pero para quienes vimos la primera parte de esta serie, creo que existe una comunión en que es de las mejores producciones que ha hecho Netflix en Suramérica y ojalá que después de algún descanso decidan seguir relatando así sea una historia más, en formato de película para cerrar algún que otro cabo suelto que quedó de la segunda temporada.

In the final season of División Palermo, it was impossible for me not to see the influence of HBO's BARRY, where dark humor is combined with drama, creating situations that shouldn't be funny but end up being very comical. That same type of humor is present in this production, which makes it unpredictable at first, but then it becomes more than predictable in the end. This is not a negative criticism at all. As I said before, the story flows very well, and each situation is perfect because it follows the tone of the production. So, personally, I don't think there is anything wrong with this production. I remember when the second season was confirmed, I was surprised that there wasn't much promotion as the premiere of the second and final season approached. but for those of us who saw the first part of this series, I think there is a consensus that it is one of the best productions Netflix has made in South America, and hopefully after a break they will decide to continue telling at least one more story, in film format, to tie up any loose ends left over from the second season.

I've known about this show for a few years now, and it's one I probably should've watched back when it actually came out considering a person in my family worked on the show, and would share behind-the-scenes images of it as it was in production, quite excited at the fact that they had worked alongside two actors that we've both appreciated for their performances in other English productions we've thoroughly enjoyed: David Thewlis for his horrific performance in Naked, and Olivia Colman for her oblivious character in Peep Show. Thewlis has gone on to create a diverse set of characters in different genres, within English productions and spanning into the larger Hollywood side of things, as has Colman with hits like The Favourite. It's nice to see actors from the UK making some big waves abroad, but also coming back home and working on mini-series and short stories still. Thewlis even ended up in a season of Fargo, after all!

I ended up remembering Landscapers simply out of having nothing else to watch at the moment. I wanted something different, something that seemed a bit shorter and wouldn't take up too much of my time. Nothing with lengthy seasons and a large number of episodes. And smaller shows are a rarity these days. Mini-series with just four or so episodes in its entirety! These tend to be really concise, strong stories as well. Every aspect of their narratives considered, with good enough character development but also a stronger cinematic side given a larger budget to be allocated across a smaller number of episodes. Landscapers being a collaboration between some English production companies but also HBO, which is interesting given HBO doesn't offer its online services in the United Kingdom at all for some reason. Anyway, let's talk about Landscapers! And no, not the people that fix up the gardens and parks a bit. I really love the way this was filmed, in such a theatrical way that sometimes pops lights out of nowhere and highlights a certain character. How sometimes there's depth used in the shot to pull attention from one character in the foreground and another in the background. The switch from real locations to sudden stages as a character describes a scenario in the past to another. It's a really creative show in how it's directed, especially with the set design which has a strong attention to detail. Not to forget the incredible cinematography that utilises really soft, warm lighting but also really smooth bokeh from the use of 2x anamorphic lenses, some vintage lenses, and others. I read a bit about the cinematographer and his interest in using such lenses for the show, and you really notice how beautiful the images are, without that often distracting anamorphic look which doesn't always translate into some stories and environments. Instead, it's perfect here. Lenses flare on police car lights, but not interior ones. Perhaps the odd candle.

I won't say too much about the narrative given the lack of knowing is precisely what makes it so engaging, but supposedly it's based loosely on a true story. Regarding a rather odd couple from the United Kingdom that moved to France and lived a struggling life trying to figure things out all over again. Though there's a dark history within their story that remains unknown for the most part: they're suspects in a double murder case regarding the woman's parents. Though nobody really knows the truth, and as the story progresses this question continues to come into play: did they do it? Were they instead also victims of the events that unfolded that night? Would criminals willingly turn themselves in by returning to the UK in attempt to clear their names?

The story is one that evolves around romance and connection, two odd folks that manage to find solace in each other, though to any other they may seem a bit suspicious. But as I mentioned: it's a story that keeps pulling you along. Perhaps they are a bit strange, but that's all. Perhaps they're both innocent. Perhaps it's a story on how those neglected can turn out with some strange characteristics and habits that may seem incriminating to others? Anyway, that's all I'm going to say about the story. It's well worth the watch. Check it out.

The emergence of the internet into mainstream American culture during the 1990s provoked a wave of cultural anxiety, particularly within Hollywood, which consistently framed the nascent technology as a threat to society. Films like The Net (1995) depicted the online world as a haven for criminals, hackers, and psychopaths, reinforcing fears that this new medium would unleash humanity’s darkest instincts. Broadcast television executives, wary of the internet’s potential to disrupt passive viewership, similarly treated it with suspicion. This technophobic narrative reached its zenith in Homicide.com, the episode of Homicide: Life on the Street’s seventh season. The show, celebrated for its unvarnished portrayal of urban policing, here succumbs to the era’s paranoia, framing the internet as an amoral realm where violence and exploitation thrive.

The episode opens with a chilling online video stream of a masked killer’s ritualistic murder of a young woman, Shana Siegel. When her body is discovered, Detective Renee Sheppard is tasked with investigating—a fraught assignment given her recent recovery from a brutal assault. The case sparks a media frenzy, with the Homicide Unit pressured to deliver swift justice. The killer, styling himself after Jean-Luc Godard’s Alphaville antihero Lemmy Caution, evades detection through sophisticated digital evasion tactics. His taunts escalate as he claims a second victim, prompting Colonel Barnfather to demand Sheppard’s removal from the case. Her partner, Detective Tim Bayliss, and colleagues rally behind her, however, and the team identifies the killer as Luke Rayland (Benjmain Busch), a privileged, tech-savvy dropout. In a nail-biting climax, Sheppard foils Rayland’s plot to kill a third victim, securing a hard-won victory.

The script, written by Sara B. Cooper, reflects 1990s-era anxieties about technology amplifying human depravity. The internet is not merely a tool for the killer but an enabler of collective moral decay. The audience watching the murder stream—a hive of voyeurs and crime obsessives—is portrayed as complicit in fuelling his narcissism, mirroring broader fears that the web would magnify society’s baser impulses. Even the show’s grounded characters are seduced by the era’s ambivalence toward new media. Detective Bayliss briefly experiments with a personal website exploring Buddhist bisexuality, while Gharty indulges in a Lara Croft-style action game. These moments, meant to underscore the internet’s seductive allure, instead highlight the script’s reductive view of technology as inherently destabilising, whether for self-expression or escapism.

Technologically, the episode strains credulity. The live-streamed murders, watched by thousands, ignore the limitations of mid-’90s dial-up modems—poor at even loading basic web pages. The narrative handwaves this inconsistency, instead citing the “75–100 million computers” then connected globally—a historically accurate figure that underscores how the show inflated the internet’s reach to amplify its menace. This exaggeration mirrored contemporary fears: in an age of dial-up and chatrooms, the web was mythologised as a realm where anyone could vanish, commit atrocities, and evade accountability. Homicide.com leans into this mythology, framing the killer’s crimes as both technologically sublime and morally nihilistic.

The episode’s true failing lies in its reliance on cliché. The “Lemmy Caution” killer—arrogant, hyper-intelligent, and obsessed with toying with law enforcement—is a trope as stale as it is pervasive. His motive lacks psychological depth, reducing him to a plot device rather than a credible antagonist. The Homicide Unit’s procedural rigor, usually meticulous and grounded, is sidelined in favour of high-stakes theatrics. By the finale, the episode feels less like Homicide: Life on the Street’s gritty, unpolished realism and more like a generic thriller echoing the slick aesthetics of later shows like CSI.

Worse still is the mismanagement of Renee Sheppard’s character. Introduced as a capable rookie, her arc here is muddled by forced drama. Writers, perhaps seeking to capitalise on Michael Michele’s star power, frame her investigation as a redemption arc post-beating. Yet her doubts about her abilities feel contrived, her interactions with colleagues stilted, and her triumph overly contrived. Michele’s performance, while earnest, cannot salvage dialogue that infantilises her character, contrasting sharply with the nuanced work of veterans like Yaphet Kotto and Kyle Secor.

Homicide.com ultimately stands as a disappointing coda to a once-brilliant series. Its attempt to grapple with the internet’s societal impact is overshadowed by melodrama, cliché, and a disconnect from the show’s signature realism. While it captures the era’s anxieties about digital connectivity, it sacrifices the series’ soul for sensationalism. In its final season, Homicide: Life on the Street—once a landmark in police procedurals—succumbed to the very forces that once defined its integrity.

Una novicia llega a un convento/escuela como maestra de Ciencias Naturales, gramática y literatura, se trata de la hermana Narcisa, una jovencita que 10 años atrás era constantemente asediada por personas que llegaban de todas partes para presenciar sus supuestos milagros, era conocida por todos por ser "La niña santa" y por tener visiones con la virgen María. Al llegar al convento la hermana Narcisa pretende aclarar su mente pero se enfrenta a dudas internas sobre tomar los votos perpetuos o no, de la misma manera también descubre algo terrible que ocurrió dentro de los muros de ese lugar durante los años de la guerra, algo que podría explicar la extraña presencia que la hermana Narcisa percibe en su habitación y que cambia su vida para siempre.

Por otra parte me doy cuenta que Paco Plaza hace gala de un excelente empleo de los recursos para manejar el terror en un film, muy del estilo de la vieja escuela, con una iluminación tenue pero que hace que las escenas sean perfectamente visibles, pero sobre todo aprovechó la atmósfera gótica del colegio y la iconografía religiosa para generar una atmosfera opresiva y angustiante, no lo sé pero experimenté lo mismo que me sucede cuando visito la catedral de mi ciudad y me encuentro en las capillas abovedadas, es una extraña mezcla entre quietud y opresión. Y otra cosa digna de mencionar y alabar es que no hay abuso de scremers, de hecho no recuerdo alguno en especial, todo se basa en generar expectativas y alargar tanto como sea posible la tensión en las escenas de terror, algo que valoro mucho.

Esta película en realidad es una precuela de otra llamada Verónica, y de hecho en la escena final podemos ver a la protagonista de esa otra película, aunque yo no la he visto aún, sin embargo creo que ya que Hermana Muerte es una precuela hice bien en verla primero. En términos generales puedo decir que es una película entretenida con muchos matices, por un lado tenemos el terror y por otro las criticas sociales, la forma en que la sociedad ve a las personas religiosas, como si fuesen ajenas a este mundo y no pudieran ocurrirle cosas malas, lo cuál hace que las victimas terminen sintiéndose culpables de lo que les ocurra, pero también tenemos una visión de lo que puede generar la presión social en alguien, sobre todo cuando es un niño y este aún no tiene criterios formados y un correcto manejo de emociones.

Ahh y otra cosa que olvidé mencionar es que nunca supe porque no mostraron el rostro del sacerdote sino solo su voz ¿Quién era él en realidad? ¿Quería ayudar a Narcisa o perjudicarla? Ese es un buen punto. No sé si Verónica ofrezca respuestas a todas las interrogantes que quedaron en la precuela. De todos modos pasé un buen rato viendo esta película y considero que si te gusta el género terror debes darle una oportunidad para tener tu propia visión al respecto. Synopsis

Civilization collapsed after a great war which consumed the world, long ago... Except for a few individuals with strange powers who come from lost countries. A hunter (Bautista) tells us the story of a witch (Jovovich), warning us that we need to have a strong stomach to hear his tale...

Casting

Dave Bautista and Milla Jojovitch share “the lead” role, but it can't be said that the acting is magnificent; there's something about it that feels off, unless that's what the director intended...

My opinion

I really liked the storyline, which unfolds like a post-apocalyptic role-playing game, where we follow the Witch's quest. The special effects are very good, in my opinion. However, as mentioned above, there is something slightly off-putting about the actors' performances, unless this is due to the French translation or a particular desire on the part of the production team. I can't say for sure; I would need the opinion of an English speaker who has seen the original version.

Nevertheless, I decided to let myself be carried away by the rather original story, in which we immediately recognize Milla Jojovich in her signature role as a Resident Evil-style “superwoman,” with her usual mental tricks in addition to her combat skills. And Dave Bautista, how can I put it, strong as an ox, with a few tricks up his sleeve as well.

So we move forward and discover just how clairvoyant the witch is, which is certain... She refuses no one an audience...

If you like this kind of scenario, give it a try, knowing that it's probably not the movie of the year...

Synopsis

La civilisation s'est écroulée après une terrible guerre qui a eu lieu il y a bien longtemps... L'Église et le Vagabond maintiennent un certain ordre d'une main de fer dans "La Ville", dernier endroit sur terre où l'homme survit, au milieu d'un monde devenu vraiment très hostile... A part quelques individus dotés de pouvoirs étranges qui viennent des pays perdus. Un chasseur (Bautista), nous raconte l'histoire d'une sorcière (Jojovitch), il nous prévient qu'il faut avoir le coeur bien accroché pour entendre son récit...

Distribution

Dave Bautista et Milla Jojovitch partagent "le premier" rôle, on ne pourra pas dire que le jeu d'acteur est magnifique, il y a comme quelque chose qui gêne, à moins que ce soit voulu par le réalisateur...

Mon avis

J'ai bien aimé le scénario, déroulé façon jeu de rôle post-apocalyptique, où l'on suit la quête de la Sorcière. Les effets spéciaux sont très corrects à mon goût. Par contre, comme dit plus haut, il y a comme quelque chose de gênant dans la façon dont les acteurs jouent, à moins que cela ne vienne de la traduction en français, ou d'un désir en particulier de la production? Je ne saurais dire, il faudrait l'avis d'un anglophone qui l'aurait vu en version originale.

Néanmoins, j'ai décidé de me laisser porter par l'histoire, assez originale, où l'on reconnait directement Milla Jojovitch dans son rôle fétiche de "super woman" à la Résident Evil, avec des petits tours mentaux comme à son habitude en plus de ses capacités au combat. Et Un Dave Bautista, comment dire, fort comme un taureau, avec lui aussi quelques tours dans son sac.

Nous avancerons donc, et découvrons à quel point la sorcière est clairvoyante, ce qui est sur ... C'est qu'elle ne refuse audience à personne...

Si vous aimez ce genre de scénario, laissez vous tenter, en sachant que ce n'est probablement pas le film de l'année...

But before your run away in terror I want you to understand that when it comes to series these days "just ok" is often more than enough. There is so much slop that is thrown at us that "just ok" could actually be considered really good.

This series is lacking coherent possibility and relies very often on insane coincidences that are not explained at all in order to progress the story... such as.... Woman police type who is kind of working on a case decides one day to just wander around in some random cave and literally falls through the floor in order to discover something that completely opens this case up for further investigation. If that sounds nuts well this happens a lot in this series and the example I just stated is literally in this show.

I do enjoy the name-dropping of "from A writer of The Revenant and American Primeval" .... ok, why did you use the word "a" instead of "the?" Dig into it and you'll find out why they are being clever with their wording :)

So this story takes place in Yosemite National Park and there is some sketchy stuff that is revealed when moody Kyle Turner (Eric Bana) turns up and refuses to accept the on site authorities' explanation about how a climber fell to her death and because of his stubborn ways it turns out he was correct! Wow! imagine that! Thus begins our adventure with a branch of law enforcement that I didn't know existed: NPSISB or National Park Service Investigative Services Branch! Man, i'm not even gonna look up if this is a real thing.

So the story is just about Kyle and how he keeps trying to solve this mystery despite the fact that most of the people in the park service don't like the dude and don't want to help him

The story is a bit interesting I suppose and you will be questioning things that you have already seen because where the story is heading is constantly changing but not always in a good way. Since we, the audience, get to see the entire story from all perspectives we have to remember that the park service doesn't know where the guilty parties are, even though (and I'm not going to spoil this) it is truly stupid how the baddies didn't even do a good job hiding anything really.

The plot thickens as things go forward and they end each episode on a cliff-hanger that has you wanting to watch the next episode even though you know from the previous episodes that you just watched that the next one is mostly going to be very slow-moving... and this is one of the show's downsides. It is a mini-series by its own designation but man oh man does it seem unnecessarily long as shit

Despite this tedium and really slow-moving plot one saving grace was that much like Yellowstone this show has amazing scenery that will keep you captivated and make you want to visit a national park at some point in your life. Unlike Yellowstone though, the story really struggles to keep up with the interesting level of the amazing backdrops.

Most of the characters are completely ludicrous and a great many of their relationships with one another seem a bit forced. I have to be reminded that one of the dinosaur doctors from Jurassic Park is actually in this thing because he doesn't get much screen time.

So Sam Neill isn't in much of this but his name is in the cast so I guess that means something. But you know what IS in this series? Beards... lots of them. Some of the only people that don't get on board the beard-parade are the squatting hippies and while I know this is stupid, I found it disturbing. You mean to tell me that squatting hippies have a really dedicated face-shaving protocol? Well the realism just went right out the window!

Now before you get too excited about the aforementioned scenery being wonderful there is one thing I want you to understand. A vast majority of this film was made in British Columbia because it is MUCH cheaper to film in Canada than it is in USA. I know I have pointed this out before but you can HEAR the Canada in the voice of all the minor characters that were probably recruited from the local area.

The overall story is riddled with impossibilities and coincidences that the story relies on and to me this is kind of lazy story-telling. The overall series is also quite formulaic in how each episode begins with a recap of what has already happened in previous episodes, then a whole lot of arguing and time-wasting happens, then some big event happens, then we are left with a cliffhanger. It's been used so many times before but the biggest offender in my mind is probably The Walking Dead so if you remember that formula, Untamed is told in basically the same way.

I'm not exactly singing the praises of this show but I watch about one episode a day and it's reasonably entertaining as long as you don't concern yourself with any of these happenings actually being possible or not.

Should I watch it?

If you have nothing else that you are watching then I don't see the harm in it. For me it has been a lot of fun because I routinely make fun of how silly a lot of the situations they find themselves in are.. and how the illegal part of what they are attempting to describe in this show is so amateurish that they would have been busted long before a national park investigator needed to get involved. But what they wanted was to get some sort of CSI into the woods and well, they managed to pull that off.
