Greetings dear moviegoers, I continue to be enthusiastic about the series The Handmaid's Tale. I have already completed the second season and of course I am anxious to comment on it.

I want to share that in this second season I understood things that I had been hitting the wall with. I commented in my first post. If we don't pay attention to what is going on and vie.

Saludos estimados cinéfilos por acá continuo entusiasmada con la serie El Cuento de la Criada. Ya completé la segunda temporada y por supuesto estoy ansiosa por comentarles.

Quiero compartir que en esta segunda temporada comprendí cosas con las cuales me había estaba dando contra la pared.  Igual comenté en mi primer post. Si no prestamos atención a lo que va y viene dentro de la trama podemos quedar perdidos.

Gilead

It is the name of the country where the events take place. Gilead also refers to the totalitarian religious regime that was founded due to the low birth rate in the area. Although it may seem somewhat paradoxical, it turns out that in Gilead the Wives (the highest hierarchy of high society ladies) are declared as infertile when in fact they themselves do not know if they are. It is one of the methods of torture to which they are subjected. Es el nombre del país donde se derrochan los acontecimientos. Gilead también hace referencia al régimen religioso totalitario que se funda dada a la baja natalidad en la zona. Aunque parezca algo paradójico resulta que en Giliad las Esposas (Mayor jerarquía de damas de alta sociedad) son declaradas como infértil cuando en realidad ni ellas mismas saben si lo son. Es uno de los método de tortura a los que son sometidas. Por estas y muchas otras razones Gilead no es reconocida por otros gobiernos, se oponen a su régimen.

Second Season

In the second season another raw part of the story is shown. Rebel women are subjected to subhuman torture methods. They are sent to open fields to work, there is no mercy or rest for them. If they do not comply with orders they are captured and forced to die in the camps.

The Gilead government tries to establish diplomatic ties with other countries. However, when their social policy, regime and treatment of women becomes known, they fail in their attempt, no one supports them. This is when the interesting twists begin. Many of the Maids in Gilead lose their fear and begin to trigger a series of events that quietly cause effects.

Segunda Temporada

En la segunda temporada se muestra otra parte cruda de la historia. Mujeres rebeldes son sometidas a métodos de tortura infrahumanas. Son enviadas a campos abiertos para trabajar, no hay piedad ni descanso para ellas. Si no cumplen con las órdenes son captadas y obligada a morir en los campos.

El gobierno de Gilead trata de establecer lazos diplomáticos con otros países. Sin embargo, cuando se da a conocer su política social, su régimen y trato hacia las mujeres fracasan en su intento, nadie los apoya. Es aquí cuando comienzan los giros interesantes. Muchas de las Criadas en Gilead pierden el miedo y empiezan a desencadenar una serie de eventos que silenciosamente  causan efectos.

The Women

Women in Gilead, neither Ladies, nor Maids, have power in society. It is the men who impose themselves under the sacred scriptures always in their favor who have all the power. Women in this country have each their own role and level.

Maids are assigned to families to procreate. They are vilely raped, impregnated and then their children are taken away and given to the ladies. They suffer the worst punishments for disobedience and suffer also because their first children were taken away, a situation that forces them to stay in that place.

Supposedly privileged wives but in the same way they turn out to be repressed because being a woman is worthless. These wives only serve as ornaments, take care of their husbands and take care of the home.

Marthas Those service women who can no longer procreate. They take care of the ladies and the maids when they are pregnant.

Aunts Those of the military regime in charge of indoctrinating the Maids. They have character and are usually ruthless and cruel in their treatment. They have no mercy on anyone.

Las Mujeres

Las mujeres en Gilead, ni Damas, ni Criadas, tienen poder en la sociedad. Son los hombres quienes se imponen bajo las sagradas escrituras siempre a su favor quienes tienen todo el poder.  Las mujeres en esta país tienen cada una su rol y nivel.

Las Criadas son asignadas a las familias para procrear. Son vilmente violadas, se les embaraza para luego arrebatar a sus hijos y entregarlos a las damas. Sufren los peores castigos por desobediencia y sufren también porque sus primeros hijos que fueron arrebatados, situación que las obliga a mantenerse en ese lugar.

Esposas Supuestamente privilegiadas pero de igual manera resultan siendo reprimidas porque ser mujer no vale nada. Estas Esposas solo sirven de adorno, cuidar a los esposos y atender el hogar.

Marthas Aquellas mujeres de servicio que ya no pueden procrear. Atienden a las damas y a las Criadas cuando están embarazadas.

Tías Son las del régimen militar encargadas de adoctrinar a las Criadas. Tienen carácter y suelen ser despiadadas y crueles con el trato. No tienen piedad de nadie.

Opinion

This second season comes somewhat slowly. Origins and stories that bring the events to life are made known. Step by step they don't reveal every detail of the most important characters such as the beautiful, ruthless and long-suffering Serena. Of the 13 chapters of the second season, the last ones are the most desperate. The women's decisions in general impact Gileand society in one way or another.

I am again impressed with the photographs of this work, the soundtrack, the costumes, the scenery, the performances of the entire cast undoubtedly puts it at a very high level. It is one of the best series with a different structure seen in these times. And I'm not talking about the main character yet hahaha, I don't have time but I assure you that I will talk about June or DeFred, there is a lot to say about her.

Opinión

Esta segunda temporada viene con cierta lentitud. Se dan a conocer orígenes e historias que dan vida a los hechos. Paso a paso no revelan cada detalle de los personajes más importantes como el de la bella, despiadada y sufrida Serena. De los 13 capítulos de la segunda temporada, los últimos son los más desesperantes. Las decisiones de las mujeres en general impactan de una u otra manera a las sociedad de Gileand.

Quedo nuevamente impactada con las fotografías de esta obra, la banda sonora, el vestuario, los paisajes, las actuaciones de todo elenco sin duda la pone en un nivel  muy alto. Es una de las mejores series con una estructura diferente vista en estos tiempos. Y aún no le hablo de la protagonista jajaja, ya no me da tiempo pero les aseguro que hablaré sobre June o DeFred, hay mucho que decir de ella.

I clicked, half-curious, not knowing I was about to descend into a world that would blur the lines between loyalty and vengeance, life and death, humanity and the supernatural.

Black Butler, in its essence, is a revenge story, of a boy called Ciel Phantomhive, who loses everything, and then forms a contract with a demon, Sebastian Michaelis, in order to seek revenge on those who had wronged him. However, the genius of Black Butler is that it gracefully balances the boundaries of horror, historical fiction and dark, sarcastic humor.

I was instantly attracted by the setting, which was Victorian England, carefully constructed with streets that have fog all over, the use of horse-drawn carriages, huge mansions, and cobbled streets with secrets that are yet to be uncovered. The style is chef kiss ideal in a story about demons, murder mysteries, and perverse aristocracy. But the characters are the ones to give life, and unholy fire, to the story.

Sebastian is the personification of the ideal butler, suave, poised, frighteningly competent and inhumanly impeccable. Each time he says, I am just one hell of a butler, it gives you a shock, not just because of the play of words, but because he is not kidding. He is not a servant, he is a predator in disguise, a devil in a tailored suit and he is always playing the long game.

And then there is Ciel, oh, Ciel. A boy bound up in trauma and a boy bound up more in pride. Hurt in the most gruesome manner he ever experienced and dumped in a world, which will devour most children, Ciel is forced to grow colder, calculating and extremely hurt. You cheer him on when he does morally ambivalent things, because he is not a good guy trying to be a hero. He is simply attempting to win.

The arcs range between grotesque (Jack the Ripper) and heartbreaking (Circus Arc), and every single one of them reveals another layer of Victorian society and further exposes Ciel psychologically. The Circus Arc particularly impressed me, not only due to the well-drawn fight scenes and sad backstories, but also because it goes to the point of showing that the villains are not always evil, sometimes, they are simply victims as well. and that, to me, is the spooky thing about Black Butler, everyone is damaged somehow and justice is never clean

The secondary characters are not less interesting. The dedicated, but painfully incompetent, Phantomhive household staff to Grell Sutcliff, the flamboyant, chainsaw-wielding reaper who merrily causes chaos and charisma wherever he goes, they all contribute to the depth, humour and even heartbreak to the story. The story with Tanaka taking tea in the background, the clumsy scenes of Mey-Rin, the fiery cooking calamities of Bardroy all contribute a lightness to the story which counterbalances the heavy subjects.

In terms of animation, the first seasons are rather good, but subsequent arcs (such as Book of Circus) demonstrate a noticeable improvement in the quality, with more detailed, light-wise and expressive. The music? Sublime. The spooky orchestra work of Yuki Kajiura combined with the gothic nature of the visuals makes you feel like you are in an opera of blood and secrets. And the initial themes, especially the one that goes like, Monochrome no Kiss, continue resonating in my head even after the last episode.

Of course, I’d be lying if I said Black Butler is perfect. The first season deviates significantly from the manga’s storyline, especially after Episode 15. The anime-original ending in Season 1 was… polarizing, to say the least. But here’s the thing: even with its narrative flaws, Black Butler keeps you enthralled. The charm isn’t just in the story—it’s in the vibe, the themes, the stylish execution. When the reboot (Book of Circus and Book of Murder) came around, staying true to the manga, it felt like a triumphant return to form.

In my case, Black Butler was my reflection on vengeance and trauma and identity. To what extent are we ready to sacrifice ourselves to get revenge? The experience of Ciel is tragic since he never gets to be a child. His existence is an act of control with Sebastian his saviour and executioner. I thought and thought--how many of us do the same thing in life? Not with demons perhaps, but with our own shadow, with our own defense-mechanisms?

I was no longer a viewer by the end of the series. I was a visitor of the magnificent home of the Phantomhives. I had trod the misty streets of London, had sipped the tea of disappointment and of sweetness of revenge. Black Butler is not only a fun show, it drags you into its custom-made black coat, speaks secrets into your ear and makes you wonder what a neat tie and a polite smile hide.

If you’re new to the anime world, Black Butler is a stylish, dark, and emotionally gripping place to start. And if you’re already an anime veteran and haven’t yet delved into its world—what are you waiting for?

After all, as Sebastian would say, "I am one hell of a recommendation.”

I believe I understand why many people found this film appealing. It presents an original story, and it seems that cinema of this kind hasn't been produced in a long time. Most major films today are based on pre-existing narratives—books, remakes, live-action adaptations of animation, and so forth. Sinners undeniably possesses a certain charm; its technical prowess, the IMAX cinematography, its soundtrack, and the numerous layers of story woven into a single narrative make it both unique and peculiar. However, for me, it is far from perfect.

Más allá del hype - Una mirada crítica a la "originalidad" de Sinners

Creo entender porque a muchas personas les gustó esta película, es una historia original y al parecer hace mucho tiempo que no se hace cine así. La mayoría de las grandes películas están basadas en historia ya contadas, libros, remakes, live action que viene de animación, etc. La película tiene su encanto, no lo niego, lo técnico, que sea grabada con IMAX, su banda sonora y la muchas capas de historia dentro de una sola la hacen única y extraña a la vez, pero para mí está lejos de ser algo perfecto.

After watching it, I dedicated myself to listening to opinions and critiques from film experts to see if anyone perceived what I did, and also to understand if it genuinely resonated with many or if they were simply swept up by the media hype. One detail I noticed is that most of those who praise this film are heavily influenced by modern cinema and belong to newer generations with limited knowledge of what constitutes pop culture. This film is, quite literally, pop culture, and much of this style was explored extensively in the past. It's not original in its format—though the story itself is entirely original—it's just that this particular approach hasn't been seen in a long time, and that aspect I did appreciate.

Luego de verla me dedique a escuchar opiniones y críticas de expertos de cine a ver si alguien percibía lo mismo que yo, y también entender si en verdad a muchos les gusto o solo se dejaron llevar por el hype mediático. Un detalles que noto es que la mayoría de quienes alaban está película están muy afectados por el cine moderno y son parte de las nuevas generaciones que poco saben de lo que es cultura pop. Está película es literalmente cultura pop, y de esto se hizo mucho en el pasado, no es nada original, no me refiero a la historia, eso sí es totalmente original, me refiero al formato, lo que pasa es que no se veía desde hace mucho y eso me agrado.

So, I researched and learned that the blues doesn't directly connect with Voodoo, but rather with Hoodoo, a system of magical practices, beliefs, and folklore indigenous to the Mississippi Delta, the setting of the film and the birthplace of the blues music that predominates in the movie. In fact, some believe there's a reference to Robert Johnson, who is rumored to have made a pact with the devil to gain musical abilities.

Pero lo que no me llamó tanto la atención es la historia, ese tema de la música que conecta con el pasado, presente y futuro invocando espíritus buenos y malos me parecía algo muy del vudú. Así que investigué y aprendí que el blues no se conecta directamente con el vudú, más bien con Hoodoo, un sistema de prácticas mágicas, creencias y folclore, autóctono del Delta del Mississippi, lugar donde se desarrolla la película y es la cuna del blues, música que predomina en la película, de hecho algunos creen que se hace referencia a Robert Johnson que se dice que hizo un pacto con el diablo para obtener habilidades musicales.

I agree with an opinion I found in an article written by Tessaes Kaur for the website “The Gamer,” which points out the abrupt change in genre. The first half works very well as a period horror drama, but then in the second half it abruptly shifts to an “action-packed” bloodbath after Mary's character is bitten by a vampire. I feel that this shift causes the initial complexity that intrigued viewers and kept them engaged in the character development to be lost. For example, why were the twins so feared and respected in the area, or how did cousin Sammy oppose becoming a clergyman in order to play the blues?

Concuerdo con una opinion que encontre en un artículo escrito por Tessaes Kaur, para el portal "The Gamer" que señala el cambio brusco de género, la primera mitad funciona muy bien como un drama de terror de época, sin embargo, luego en la segunda mitad cambia abruptamente a una carnicería y baño de sangre "lleno de acción" después que el personaje de Mary es mordida por un vampiro. Me parece que este cambio hace que se pierda esa complejidad inicial que intrigaba y que te hacía estar atento a la construcción de los personajes, por ejemplo, porque los gemelos eran tan temidos y respetados en la zona, o como el primo Sammy se oponía a ser un clérigo para tocar blues.

In summary, like many critics, I believe that the film is overly ambitious, which is why it addresses so many issues, and perhaps that is what ended up overwhelming me. Another article I read points out that the film is a tribute to 1970s Black Exploitation cinema for representing the Black community in films, which I think is very accurate. but it also clearly pays homage to the blues with the appearance of Buddy Guy at the end. Add to that the themes of racism, vampires, voodoo, entrepreneurship, complex family dynamics, religious issues, etc. It's like summarizing the episodes of a series, putting them together, and turning them into a movie.

En resumen, al igual que muchos críticos creo que la película se pasa de ambiciosa, por eso aborda tantos temas y quizás esa es lo que llegó a saturarme. Otro articulo que lei señala que la película es un culto al cine Black Exploitation de los Años 70 para representar a la comunidad negra en películas, me parece que es muy acertado, pero además también se nota claramente como rinde un homenaje al blues con la aparición de Buddy Guy al final, a eso le sumamos el tema del racismo, los vampiros, el vudú, emprendimiento, dinámicas familiares complejas, temas religiosos, etc. Es como hacer resúmenes de los episodios de una serie, juntarlos y convertirlos en película.

I have been seeing this series in passing and finally, I decided to watch it. Those times I would get a sneak peek at it, I could tell that it would be hella funny. However, time won’t let me get into it. So, I got some time off my hands and decided to see a few episodes for a start and now that I’m done with one out of six seasons, I am loving it. I just hope I don’t get bored.

2 Broke Girls is an American television sitcom about two girls from two different backgrounds who come together to achieve a common goal; start a business and they have one thing in common, they are broke. 

Max Black (Kat Dennings) is the born and bred girlie’O in the hood who has everything wrong from her childhood to the way she views herself now. She is the carefree type (or so she believes) and has no problem running off her mouth and getting her hands dirty (literally) for work. She’s the type of girl you’d hate from a distance but love as you get closer. 

Caroline Channing (Beth Behrs) is the typical white girl who’s daddy’s princess only daddy screwed people over with a ponzi scheme and covered her in rags. Caroline is all brains despite her “blonde bimbo” look and she’s got zest to go with her rich girl hair. 

Watching Caroline and Max get together in this sitcom was like watching a frog get high on weed. It was funny as heck. It is comedy after all and yes, it is an old film: 2011 but it is good. 

This season, Caroline displayed her business savvy mind while dealing with a very low esteemed Max, and Max had to deal with up and bright Caroline who seemed to have problems as real as a unicorn smoking crack. Well, her dad was in prison and she was the second most hated Channing but she is strong. 

I like the characters here. Oleg (Jonathan Kite) with his sexual innuendos and very spicy walk. He reminds me of my nightmare but this time, it’s wearing sleeveless shirts. He makes me laugh a lot. 

I like Han (Matthew Moy). He reminds me of Osita Iheme with no Onga seasoning or sokoto pepper in the mix. Just plain Korean guy smacked in the middle of an American setting, ramen with iodised salt. Another good one. 

I like Earl (Garrett Morris) too. But most of all, I like Sophie (Jennifer Coolidge). She warns me of what I’d look like if I did Botox carrying a blonde wig (I’m talking on the characters now), and her ability to be blunt about anything is admirable. 

I think Season One wasn’t a flop. There was a balance of urgency with the situations enough to make you laugh and the humours (especially the sexual ones) had me wheezing. Yes, I’m not a perfectly good girl and I like some sprinkles on my pizza once a while. 

The actors were perfect for the roles and they brought the zazz to the pee of every scene (I learned that from a Barbie show - don’t ask). Currently, this series is a might 8.5/10 for me.

In my childhood I had the opportunity to watch several television shows, since it was the only thing you could see at that time and despite that, they were the best moments where laughter and fun could never be missing. Many of those TV shows were growing and managed to overcome many expectations to become famous and one of those was the Chavo del 8, what a show where humor and comedy were the best and every time it was shown on TV I could not miss an episode, besides for me they were infinite. It is here where the magic of cinema and with much effort have managed to produce a new adaptation of this television program and despite the number of years that exist between the first and this are many, have hit the target and now this series is for everyone.

This series has several chapters, in order to cover everything and the best with new details that allow you to enjoy a great adventure full of adventure, jokes, laughter and the best of all is to relive those moments of childhood by being able to identify with several of the characters that are there. That is why this new series of Chespirito, will be an experience and in this way to see the story of a man, which does not go very well in love, where he will have to seek certain opportunities and personalities in order to be the center of entertainment and it is something that has been experienced over the years and there will always be people like that, also know a little of the time, in which the series is set and this is where we wonder: Will he get that love, will the main characters of the Chavo del 8 be there? And many other new things, if you ever saw that TV show.

En mi infancia tuve la oportunidad de ver varios programas de televisión, ya que era lo único que se podían ver para esa época y a pesar de eso, eran los mejores momentos donde la risa y la diversión nunca podían faltar. Muchos de esos programas de televisión fueron creciendo y logran superar muchas expectativas para así volverse famosos y uno de esos era el Chavo del 8, vaya programa donde el humor y la comedia eran las mejores y cada vez que lo pasaban por la televisión no podía perderme un capítulo, además para mí eran infinitos. Es aquí donde la magia del cine y con mucho esfuerzo han logrado producir una nueva adaptación de ese programa de televisión y a pesar de la cantidad de años que existe entre la primera y esta son muchos, han dado con el objetivo y ahora esta serie es para todos.

Esta serie cuenta con varios capítulos, para así poder abarcar todo y lo mejor con detalles nuevos que permiten disfrutar de una gran aventura cargada de mucha aventura, chiste, risas y lo mejor de todo esto es poder revivir esos momentos de la infancia al lograr sentirse identificados con varios de los personajes que están allí. Por eso esta nueva serie de Chespirito, será todo una experiencia y de esa manera poder ver la historia de un hombre, la cual no le va muy bien en el amor, donde tendrá que buscar ciertas oportunidades y personalidades para así poder ser el centro de entretenimiento y es algo que se ha vivido a lo largo de los años y siempre van a existir personas como esa, además conocer un poco también de la época, en la cual está ambientada la serie y es aquí donde nos preguntamos ¿Podrá conseguir ese amor?, ¿Estarán los personajes principales del chavo del 8? Y muchas otras cosas nuevas, si alguna vez viste aquel programa de televisión.

This was quite a surprise, since making this kind of adaptations with old movies is not easy, which has to be perfect so that it does not ruin the plot as much as those memories that one has, so throughout each of the episodes the story is taking a lot of strength, since at first I did not agree with what they were doing, but everything changed and you can spend a moment of many laughs. In addition, several stories are presented at the same time of each character, which allows you to learn more detail of their lives, but in the end they all go hand in hand and that is what I found of great impact on the series, since beyond those with each episode I saw of the original series of the chavo del ocho, I already had a clear idea, however that touch of humor and joke manages to get hooked and continue watching all that great plot of love and fun.

Esto fue toda una sorpresa, ya que hacer este tipo de adaptaciones con películas viejas no es nada fácil, la cual tiene que ser perfecta para que así no arruine tanto la trama como esos recuerdos que uno tiene, por eso a lo largo de cada uno de los episodios la historia va tomando mucha fuerza, puesto que al principio no estaba de acuerdo lo que estaban haciendo, pero todo cambio y podrás pasar un momento de muchas risas. Además, van presentando varias historias al mismo tiempo de cada personaje, que permite ir aprendiendo más detalle de la vida de ellos, pero que a la final todas van de la misma mano y eso es lo que me pareció de gran impacto en la serie, ya que más allá de esos con cada episodio que vi de la serie original del chavo del ocho, ya tenía una idea clara, sin embargo ese toque de humor y chiste logra engancharse y seguir viendo toda esa gran trama de amor y diversión.

Being a very new series, it has an excellent production, which I am sure gave them a lot of work to be able to put together something of great impact, since it is reflected in each of the scenes throughout the series, plus that touch that they have always put to the novel is very good, as it adapts to all ages and thus to see some comedy and laughter in the best time that lasts the history of Chespirito. Another very good thing is the interpretation that each character has to do and thus to make it as identical to the original and many of them succeed, like others who lacked something to be able to connect with them, The character that is behind Chespirito is to be admired, since without him none of this would be the same, thanks to all the talent and work that has been achieved in this great classic novel of history.

Al ser una serie muy nueva, cuenta con una excelente producción, la cual estoy seguro de que les dio mucho trabajo para así poder armar algo de gran impacto, puesto que se ve reflejado en cada una de las escenas a lo largo de la serie, además ese toque que siempre le han puesto a la novela es muy bueno, ya que se adapta a todas las edades y así poder ver algo de comedia y risas en el mejor tiempo que dura la historia de Chespirito. Otra de las cosas muy buenas es la interpretación que tiene que hacer cada personaje y de esa manera poder hacerlo lo más idéntico a la original y mucho de ellos lo logran, como otros que les falto algo para así poder conectar con ellos, puesto que los presentas con una personalidad bastante débil y todo sea por las consecuencias que trae el amor y por más que sea uno siempre actuará de una manera distinta al estar en una situación como esa y e incluso el gran personaje que está detrás de Chespirito es de admirar, ya que sin él nada de ese fuera igual gracias a todo ese talento y trabajo que han logrado en esta gran novela clásica de la historia.

It was a great surprise and at the same time a great emotion to see each of the episodes that characterize the whole series, as they are necessary to cover the whole plot and does not have those spaces that are filler in order to extend everything, but rather everything flows in a great way.
