An animated film that refers to these classic movies of the 70's 80's mainly from the 80's, you know that it is the plot of a child meets an alien a monster they become friends and live adventures, something like what was e. t, well this film seeks to make reference to all that but giving it a touch of fantasy quite own and perhaps somewhat realistic, because although the protagonist girl does make friends with this creature the reality is that it is still a wild creature in several moments of the film make you see it, This is an interesting detail because this does not take away the fact that the girl wants to return the creature to his home but in turn also entails that well there is a difficulty is not simply an adorable animal with which you can share at times yes there are moments of tenderness but also at times you feel the wild side of the creature that yes at no time expect it to become a horror film does not cease to be a film of adventure and fantasy.
What can I say the performances are incredible and in fact the photography of the film is very well taken Because it gives you like that air of the 80 90's films that enriches the film and all the vegetation, the world in which the ochi is built the protagonic creature is very well taken because it has a certain real subtlety that makes you feel that the whole world that is surrounding it could really exist, I must say that it is a film that also did not pass me extremely fast has moments in which it can be quite slow, But I think it is a film wanted to give it a chance especially have seen the films of the studio a24 especially Because this studio makes many horror films but now touch the theme of fantasy I think it's amazing and I think they knew how to do it impressively, gives a touch of fresh air to these fantasy films that lately may have been somewhat stagnant.
I think that the script in the same way I think the best thing you do is the creation of this world of this island but the dialogues or how the story goes the truth is that it is extremely predictable at no time you feel that any character is going to happen something really bad, They make you want to pretend or believe that something is going to happen but in reality it doesn't. The film is a film in the style of the 80's with something more real, maybe it has moments where the creature can get a little wild but nothing significant happens that you can say okay this completely changes the way these stories are told,
Hello everyone, my anime fan friends, I hope you are doing great today, this time I want to talk about a series that I was putting off for a long time, and that I finished watching a few weeks ago, and I have to be honest: Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai blew me away... I'm not just talking about the girl with the bunny ears, no, I mean it hit me hard, in those ways that leave you thinking and with a silly smile after the ending is over... if I'm completely honest, at first I was like... It was just another ecchi anime that was unfunny and ridiculous... and I didn't understand why it was so popular, so I always said: 'Nah, I'll pass'. The title and the cover didn't give me a good feeling, it looked like your typical cheap fanservice anime... but believe me, this is something else, nothing to do with it! Instead, we find a super deep story, with a ton of layers, that uses the supernatural to talk about the real problems we experience in adolescence, incredible... from the first chapter, the premise completely captivated me.
The story introduces us to Sakuta Azusagawa, a high school student who seems normal, but whose life takes a 180 turn when he begins to encounter very strange phenomena, called 'Adolescence Syndrome'... yes, obviously, one day he is there, in the library and Mai Sakurajima, the famous actress, appears dressed as a bunny! But here's the good part: despite what one might think from the title, Mai is not there just for us to look at her. Her costume is a clever metaphor that you will discover when you watch the anime, she ends up tangled up in a problem due to a supernatural power, which can make them disappear.
The way the anime shows her and the other girls affected by this syndrome is a really crazy exploration of anxiety, insecurity and that difficulty of 'reading the environment', as the Japanese say, that pressure of having to fit into society... What blew my mind is that the series doesn't just stay in the weird, in the supernatural to get attention... or, it uses these strange events as a way to show internal battles that are super real, each phenomenon symbolizes an internal struggle of the characters, be it the fear of rejection, bullying, or the pressure to fit into the mold... it's a great message. This made me think a lot about how these problems are not so different from the ones we experience on a daily basis, only here they are shown in a more exaggerated, more metaphorical way... but the essence is the same.
What I have to highlight is the chemistry between the characters, especially Sakuta and Mai... Sakuta is like a breath of fresh air, among the typical protagonists of romantic comedies... the guy is sarcastic, gets to the point, and doesn't give a damn what others think... nothing to do with those shy, clumsy protagonists we always see... his conversations with Mai are great, really. At first she seems super serious, all elegant, but she has a dry sense of humor and loves to test Sakuta, and that makes their relationship real and fun! The chemistry between them is incredible, but really... it doesn't feel forced at all, not fake at all, and that's something few series manage to do so well, you really notice the affection and appreciation that grows...
Also, the way the series is put together helps a lot to not get bored, instead of getting stuck on a single problem, the anime divides the story into arcs, and each one focuses on a girl with her own problem with teenage syndrome... this makes the series never get repetitive or boring! Just when you think you've got it all figured out, boom! another character appears with an equally captivating story, I loved how each arc adds something new, showing different sides of how social pressure affects young people... not to mention the script and the dialogues are some of the best in the anime... the conversations have a perfect rhythm: they are intelligent, deep and, above all, they sound natural! Every line seems to have a meaning, whether it's to develop the characters, to tell you something important, or simply to get a good laugh at a joke. Several times I had to pause the episode to process a line that left me thinking, or to admire how the series manages to capture human emotions so well.
Let's talk about the animation... the truth is that it's well done, it does its job, it doesn't blow your mind with explosions of colors or weird effects, but you can see the detail in the expressions and emotional moments, and that's really appreciated! The character designs are cool, each one with their own style, so you don't feel like they all look the same, you know what I mean? I really liked how they managed to make Mai and the other girls look different from each other, without falling into the typical clichés, now, the music... here I have to be honest, it left me a little cold... the background music is there, it does its job, but it's not one of those that gets stuck in your head.
The opening is catchy, yes, it was liked, but it's very typical... but watch out!, the ending does deserve a separate mention... that song, sung by the voice actresses of each character, wow!, manages to capture the melancholic vibe of the anime in an incredible way... it's not normal that I like an ending more than the opening, but in this case, Fukashigi no Carte gives it an extra emotional depth, it's even easily distinguishable, I, who had never seen the anime, could recognize it for years, I heard it, and said; "ah the bunny ending" had an incredible reach to the point that you can recognize and associate it with the series immediately.
Another thing I loved about this anime is that it doesn't take the easy route of your typical supernatural harem... although there are several girls in the story, the main idea isn't to see who ends up with the main character, but rather the internal problems of each one and how they grow throughout the series... there's no cheap fanservice or awkward scenes that take you out of the story here, on the contrary, it focuses on solving real problems using metaphors, and that makes it feel much more mature and interesting.
To be honest, when I first started watching this show, I wasn’t expecting much. The title and the visuals made me think it was going to be your typical cliché story, but I ended up being treated to one of the most amazing and heartwarming experiences I’ve ever had in anime. It blew my mind, how I connected with the characters and their struggles, there were times when I laughed my head off and others that truly touched my soul, almost making me cry, but what struck me the most was how the anime uses the supernatural as if it were part of real life, not just to shock you. 'Adolescence Syndrome' isn’t just a weird idea, but it really represents the emotional struggles we go through when we’re young. It reminded me of those confusing years and the pressure to fit in when all we wanted was to be understood. I’ve seen a ton of rom-coms and slice of life anime, but Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai feels totally different.
It's a series that not only entertains you, but also leaves you thinking... it's perfect for those looking for a story with intelligent dialogue, real relationships, and a bit of mystery. My final score: 9.5/10.. I give it this score not only because it exceeded my expectations, but because it left me with a feeling of satisfaction and a ton of ideas swirling around in my head, the story is incredible, the characters touch your heart, the animation is well done and the message it gives you is something we can all identify with.. if you have ever had an anime that surprises you and ends up being something totally different from what you thought, then you will understand why Bunny Girl Senpai is special, it is more than just a story of a boy helping girls with weird problems: it is a reflection on youth, social pressure and that need we all have to be seen and understood..
This anime has movies that act as sequels, I have seen all the movies and I loved them, they never lost the essence and charm of this series, they exploit the characters much more and offer us really deep stories, we see how the relationship of the protagonists evolves and how they face problems.. without a doubt, I recommend that you look for the movies to watch How to continue this great story. Well, that's all for today. We'll see you in the next reviews. Take care! Bye!
Byebye!

I am fascinated by Henry VIII. Although I already know his story, I never tire of watching any production related to the Tudor period. During his reign, so many historical changes took place that completely transformed a nation and influenced others. Of course, it all has to do with the fact that he had six wives, two of whom ended up being beheaded. It is a story that has all the ingredients to fascinate.
Coincidentally, last month I watched the second and final season of Wolf Hall, a series that adapts the novels centered on the man who was behind Henry VIII's power for a time, the famous Thomas Cromwell. A magnificent two-season series that portrays Cromwell's rise and fall. My goodness, that king loved to order heads to be cut off. The difference is that this series is more historically accurate than the film I am recommending today.
Firebrand gets many things right in the development of its story, but its main flaw is the liberties it takes in telling certain things. Embellishments are acceptable to add intrigue to the plot, but what bothers me is the ending. At the end, something completely made up happens, and I can't accept it as easily as the other liberties it takes. It's an adaptation of a historical novel, so yes, it has some fiction in it, but what happens at the end is hard to swallow for anyone who wants more consistency with what is documented in the historical archives.
The film recounts the last year of Henry VIII's reign, but specifically from the perspective of Catherine Parr, who was his sixth wife. She was a woman who had influence over the king and the fate of the kingdom, since, according to historical records and as described in other productions, she convinced the king to include Elizabeth in the line of succession, and if you know a little about these historical events, you will know that Elizabeth would eventually become queen, about whom many books have been written and many films have been made.
What is remarkable about Firebrand is that, despite being a well-known story, it creates a hypnotic atmosphere of suspense. Jude Law's portrayal of Henry VIII helps a lot. His character is repulsive, unpleasant, a true monster who instills fear. Alicia Vkander also deserves a lot of credit for her performance. She perfectly captures the terror she feels. She is a survivor and must hide, lie, and remain silent to avoid being beheaded or exiled. The film's director, who is of Brazilian origin, does a good job. His images are not shocking, but he manages to make the atmosphere uncomfortable when these two characters come face to face.
The costumes are impeccable and the photography highlights them. All these technical aspects are top-notch and help to visually enjoy the story being told. Although when I see so much beauty in these aspects, it always makes me wonder what that era would have been like in reality. Although it is set in the king's castle, I can't help but think about the smells of people who probably bathed once every 15 days or even less. In addition to other personal hygiene practices that are common today but were different at that time.
It is not historically accurate in its ending, but it is a film worth watching. Now, if you want to know more about Parr and the king's other wives, I suggest you look for information in books or on the Internet. This film is worth watching for two excellent performances.
I look forward to your comments.

I have like hundreds of bingeable series to pick from and thinking about it now, it's been years since I started seeing series the way I do. Once it's very interesting from the start, I find it hard to stop until I reach my elasticity (fall asleep) lol.
I remember my most memorable bingewatch with my siblings when we were younger and dad was away for work, I remember we were seeing the Korean series "Boys Over Flowers" and we even had snacks to keep us awake all night.
I think I've recommended that series now as it is but I'd love to share the one series I saw from start to finish without giving myself a break because of everything the series had to offer, and it has been the most recent memorable for me.
It was even more unique for me because of the months this series stayed on my watch list before I finally got to see it and how excited I was to see the next season at the time it was released. My most bingeable series is "XO Kitty".
"XO Kitty" as at writing this has only two seasons but the viewers are looking forward to a third season. Even with that, each season had a good closure to the story but viewers wants more and the writers are listening and giving what we want.
The show has a beautiful cast of Anna Cathcart as "Kitty", Sang Heon Lee as "Minho", Choi Min-yeong as "Dae" and others who made the story all beautiful and super cute. I love romantic comedy stories so this one was totally it for me.
I remember the moment I started the first episode of the first season, I knew I won't be leaving my position until I was done with it, "It's just 10 episodes, I'll be done in no time". Well, it wasn't the case as I kept repeating some scenes.
A story about Kitty, an American girl who travels to KISS, a school in Seoul, Korea to find her mother's home and be with her long time distant boyfriend. Navigating a new life in Seoul, bonding with new friends and her unexpected emotions.
I spent almost half of a day on this series first season and I was so hyped about the love story cooking inside a love story, how beautiful and exciting it was to see a new kind of love bloom where viewers least expected it, Kitty and Minho.
I can't think of a boring episode in this series, even in the second season as I saw the second with a friend who was even more excited than me as we binge-watched it to the end and chatted happily about it. I think no boring episode is a criteria for bingewatching, don't you think same?
I added a YouTube clip of all Kitty and Minho's love cooking up scenes, it's my most favourite from the binge watch. Kitty's adventure in Seoul has to be the most beautiful and strange one to see in a mini romantic series. I enjoyed it totally.
This series is highly recommended for your bingewatch, it's got a rating of 9/10 from me and it's perfect for romantic comedy lovers. Want something to binge watch and enjoy your time on, "XO Kitty" crosses all the cool criteria for you.
Today I come with a recommendation of a k-drama that I loved, the phrases that left us, the development and history that developed each of its characters leave much to reflection, a journey of an exchange between twin sisters that ended in self-discovery something chaotic, but revealing, as is often the process of life of all; a k-drama which I consider that involves much of self-improvement, so I wanted to talk about it and that you do not miss it.
It was released in May this year until the end of June, directed by Park Shin-woo and starring Park Bo-young, Park Jin-young and Ryu Kyung-soo, and is a romance-comedy.
The story plunges us into the lives of twin sisters Mi-rae (meaning Future) and Mi-Ji (mystery, something to be discovered); Both were very close when they were little, so much so that they exchanged places, especially because Mi-rae was very sickly and Mi-ji helped her by taking her medication, until one day they were discovered cutting the latter's hair and from then on their personalities began to separate clearly, making them more distinguishable, since their mother did not know who each one was, only their father who died when they were children and their grandmother.
Mi-rae went to live in Seoul, helping her family financially, while Mi-ji stayed at home, working at various jobs and taking care of her grandmother. However, despite seeing the successful in one and the cheerful and determined in the other, one was really starting to suffer from pressure and harassment at work, while the other was still haunted by the past and unfulfilled dreams..
So, as a child, they decided to exchange each other's lives, while overcoming their difficulties. Will they be able to interpret each other's lives without being discovered? What will the mysterious today hold for them? Will they finally manage to overcome the ghosts of the past and stop attacking themselves to embrace the future that awaits them?
Our unwritten Seoul does not bring us such an innovative or original story, however, the development given to its characters, the way to convey their circumstances, their emotions and everything they dare made this drama, a priceless story and full of many meanings that lead you to reflect that not everything is written, much less our goals and what we want to achieve in life, it is never too late to start again, because tomorrow has not yet arrived and there is still a long way to rediscover ourselves. I must applaud the great performance that Park Bo-young gave us as the sisters, the change of personality was noticeable, although I can not leave aside the actress who played the teenage version of the same, the changes in attitudes were noticeable.
The contrast that they give us in the life of both is the determining point of the story, because it really makes us rethink that no matter how good someone's life may seem, we certainly do not know what goes through their mind or what they have carried as a cross throughout their lives, this is what makes us empathize with the characters, because they interpret situations so common, but so real that allows us to visualize ourselves in it in a splendid way, like when we wanted to be something when we were young, but because of situations we left it, or we are in a place and we do not feel comfortable, yet we continue because of what others will say. It also tells us about the family, the pain we hide and carry for a long time or how we disguise fear in pride, waiting for the other to understand our feelings without saying anything; we must express, we must speak, we must make ourselves understood and not assume, be honest not only with others, with ourselves.
Likewise, when we talk about communicating, it also leads us to be patient, to be tolerant of other people's pain, not to impose ourselves, to know how to wait, so that when the person feels confident to open the door and transmit all his feelings, to take a step forward, because there are doors that open from the inside, from self-discovery. It really is a series that touches quite deep issues, such as mental health, social pressure, expectations, family relationships, self-discovery and the meaning of true happiness.
When Mi-ji asks herself, “Why do I end up attacking myself when I need to protect myself the most?”, it is something that touched my heart, because we try to be kind to others, to be supportive, but are we really kind to ourselves? It's like when they say that how can you heal the other, if you have not healed yourself and this character is understanding it; the moment she opened the door and understood the pain, depression and anguish, she overcame that barrier and realized that through everything she experienced, she can help open the doors to another. It is a drama that invites you to open the door to your inner self, to not be a shadow but to rediscover your potentials and assert who you are.
-Yes it can be slow or lacking in shocking moments, but I feel that more emphasis is given to the message they want to give, than the tension to be generated.
-I may feel the romance part very cliché, but it's worth it, more for the personal stories that are reflected.
I loved it, it's definitely the kind of healing drama that doesn't stun you, but makes you connect with its characters in a very beautiful and not at all melodramatic way, so if you're looking for action or a lot of comedy, I don't think it's for you, rather if you're looking for something relaxing and that helps you on your path to self-discovery, well, what are you waiting for to give it a chance?

10/10 Historia │ 10/10 Actuaciones │ 9/10 Sonido │ 10/10 Escenario │ 10/10 General

It's been such a long time since I made a review of any TV series, but this is a series I can't just get past without writing about it; it won't be fair on my part to just let this slide.
So here I am, talking about Outlander, the most epic love series I have watched so far. I reluctantly started watching this drama series when I came across it online. The universe must be really trying to get me entertained. Out of all the series screaming for my attention, I get to choose this rare gem by chance.
The story started when Claire, who lives in the 20th century and is on a holiday, a second honeymoon with her husband, was mythically transported and traveled through time as she found herself 200 years before her time.
What if your future was your past?
Struggling in a strange land to survive and find her way back to her time, without being given a choice, Claire had to marry a Scottish fighter and a Highlander, Jaime Fraser. That was when her future, which was her past, began to unfold.
Outlander is a historical drama series that was adapted from the book series of the same name by Diana Gabaldon and developed by Ronald D. Moore. This storyline, though fictional, feels so real, as all the actors involved embodied their characters so well you are invested deeply in every one of their stories.
Warning:
There are brutal rape scenes close to the end of season one. I found it so troubling to watch, I had to skip that part, but aside from that, this story will make you laugh 😂, blush, feel emotional, and sometimes be so intense that it will make you cry. Yeah, I cried at some point watching this series. It is that great and powerful. Also, it's very addictive; the moment you start, you might get hooked until you finish, but it will all be worth it.
The series started in August 2014 and has seven seasons so far, with fans expecting the eighth season. I was lucky to find and start watching at the seventh season. So I never had to wait a bit to watch what was next.
These are reasons you will want to watch outlander;
First, for love, lol, do not act surprised. I am a lover girl, and Outlander will make you re-evaluate a lot of things you know about love; it will make you fall in love again with your love life and can make you love harder.
For family values:
Outlander highlights what family is all about: love, patience, sacrifice, and creating and strengthening bonds. So if you are a family-oriented person like myself, this series is for you.
The adventure;
If you love adventure, romance, and time travel series that are deep-rooted in Scottish history and rich culture, historical places, and politics, then you will so much enjoy Outlander.
The outstanding actors
A lot of the actors performed outstandingly, so you won't be able to get enough of them.
We have Claire Fraser, played by the highly talented Caitriona Balfe. She is someone you enjoy every single time she appears on your screen.
We have Jamie Fraser, played by Sam Heughan, every girl's dream man (hehe), romantic, charismatic, strong, loyal, and a great fighter.
Then we have Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser is played by Duncan Lacroix. A loyal godfather to Jamie Fraser. He is the kind of godfather you will die peacefully, knowing your kid is in great hands.
The antagonist
One of the main antagonists in the series is Jonathan Randall, Frank Randall. Played by Tobias Menzies. You are going to enjoy hating him so much that even when he plays the good guy in his future life, you won't be able to shake off the things he has done in his past life. Yeah, he is that great. And a host of other actors you will enjoy seeing, but I will leave their names for you to find out when you watch this series.
Under hyped I think:
I think Outlander was very under hyped; otherwise, with how epic and spectacular it is, I shouldn't be finding out about this series only at the seventh season. What do I know? Maybe I have taken a backseat in recent years when it comes to following drama series.
Rating
outlander is 10/10 for me; it's simply spectacular and one of a kind. It's a drama series I planned on watching over and over again, and oh, how I wish I could unsee it so that each time I rewatch it, I would get to experience every single scene as intensely as I did the first time. There are only a few movies that have such a great impact on me, hehe.
So, have you watched Outlander, or will you give it a watch? Let me know what you think in the comments section.
And if you have similar drama series, kindly recommend them to me; I will so much appreciate it.
Hello friends of the Movies & Tv community, I hope you are starting this new week in a great way. Yesterday I was looking for the new movie starring Barbie Ferreira with John Leguizamo, I was looking forward to see it because I like these stories that leave you great teachings and that are also based on real life stories like this movie that I will review today: Bob Trevino Likes It.
Plot:
The story focuses on the life of young Lily Treviño (Barbie Ferreira) who lives basically alone and her only close relative is her father Bob with whom she has never had a good communication or closeness. In her attempts to restart their father-daughter relationship, Lily begins to look for her father and wants to make him feel happy in any way she can, thinking that this way she can earn the love she has always needed from him, especially after her mother died when Lily was very young.
Things don't go well at all with Lily and Bob after she went with him on dates he found online and her father told him that she ruined everything in his life. Basically this hurt Lily so much that she went to seek psychological help so she could understand her father and try to get to know herself better. And in this search for her own happiness she starts looking on Facebook for someone with the same name as her father and sends him a friend request, while this unknown man for some reason accepts her request and they start talking.
Opinion:
I can feel the sadness and the importance for Lily that she can reconnect with her father in some way, for any human being the love of their parents is fundamental since they are supposed to love their children above all things, but this is not the case, and Lily realizes that the idea she has of her dad is more of an idealized form of the father she always wanted in her life but will never be as she expected.
And in the middle of it all meeting an unknown man with the same name as her father makes it even crazy because you never know who is behind a screen on the internet, but in this case Bob Treviño (The facebook) turns out to be a very nice man, funny and eager to find a friendship even in Lily who is a fairly young person and that their relationship could be misinterpreted but from the beginning there is respect and then a trust is created in which we see two lonely and broken people meet to give each other that love they crave so much.
The performances were quite good, you can feel the love between Lily and Bob and how both of them despite having different wounds can find comfort in being together, it is a very nice way to represent a bond of love that has nothing to do with blood or a family name, this is something very special and I think it is very nice that it happened to the director in real life, to meet a person who was not her father but who gave her moments of happiness and healthy wounds that he did not cause.
I really enjoyed the movie and I loved that at the end they put the name of the person who was Bob Treviño and the date he was born and died, I feel that this movie was a way for the director Tracie Laymon to give a tribute to someone who with small gestures and moments gave her the best teaching for her life and made her feel that she was a loved young woman and deserved to be happy despite not having her father present, It is something that touched my heart and made me think of all those people who at some point come into our lives and leave traces of love that stay with us forever. I recommend it if you want to see a real life story, with a good message and that can make you smile and even shed some tears. ☺️

Those who lived through the recent Golden Age of television have long become desensitised to many things that would have sparked furious protests just a decade earlier, and in the previous century might have landed their creators in asylums, prisons, or graveyards. With dozens of scripted series competing for viewers’ attention each season instead of just a few national TV networks, even once-untouchable taboos were forced into the brutal race against time. Among them, given the victory of hipster quasi-intellectuals in the US cultural war, one such taboo was religion—particularly the rural Protestant fundamentalism so despised in Hollywood. This reached its peak in Preacher, a TV series adapting the cult comic by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, often deemed blasphemous and heretical from the Christian perspective. Behind the series stood AMC—the network known for the prestigious works like Mad Men and Breaking Bad, as well as the wildly popular adaptation of The Walking Dead comic books—thus giving the show high expectations.
The titular protagonist, portrayed by Dominic Cooper, is Jesse Custer, a preacher leading a church in the Texas Panhandle town of Anville. Haunted by a dark, traumatic criminal past that propelled him to change his ways and start a new life, he now struggles with his inability to meaningfully aid his flock, eroding his faith and prompting thoughts of abandoning the ministry. Matters take a drastic turn when he discovers an extraordinary gift: the supernatural ability to force anyone to obey his word as command. This coincides with the return of his ex-lover Tulip O’Hare (Ruth Negga), with whom he shared a criminal history. She relentlessly pushes him toward un-Christian vengeance against their former partner who has betrayed them. But even more striking is the arrival of Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun), an Irish vampire seeking refuge in Anville from fundamentalist vampire hunters who’ve pursued him for centuries. When two more bizarre outsiders appear in Anville, it turns out their interest isn’t in Cassidy but in the power he wields—a being born from the union of an angel and a demon, causing chaos for God in heaven.
In an era where explicit sex and violence are hard to distinguish from competitors, the show’s creators—including Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg—made Preacher controversial and shocking solely through its blasphemous treatment of Christianity. In other words, the series presents an “alternative” universe where God exists but has vanished for unknown reasons, triggering apocalyptic consequences amid graphic violence, bloodshed, and grotesque, bizarre sex—all underscored by black comedy. This spiritual approach might remind some of Rogen and Goldberg’s apocalyptic black comedy This Is the End, but audiences will likely focus more on the vivid characters brought to life by a talented cast, including Cooper relishing a role beyond his usual leading man or second-fiddle parts. The script didn’t need to reinvent much, as most characters were lifted directly from the comic. However, the plot diverges: while the comic used the protagonist’s quest for the missing God as an episodic journey across America, the series devotes an entire season to a “origin story”, confining the action to a single Texas town. This functions less as a microcosm of conservative rural America than a Fellini-Lynchian menagerie of grotesque figures, fetishes, and worldviews—a bizarre, exaggerated, and not entirely believable collection.
Preacher is well-acted and directed, but its relentless grotesquerie grows tiresome and repetitive over time. The apocalyptic finale, however, hints that the next season might hew closer to the beloved comic, offering a dramatic fresh start to an increasingly fragmented audience.
RATING: 7/10 (+++)

Imagine a society where, with the exception of a small ruling class, the citizens are poor and miserable. A society on the verge of collapse, where some desperate people accept humiliation in order to survive, and others are willing to exploit their despair. Okay, I know—unheard-of things, science fiction—but this is the setting of They Shoot Horses, Don’t They? (1969) by Sydney Pollack, the best film I’ll never watch again.
The movie takes place in 1932, almost entirely inside a hall where a dance marathon is being held. Several dozen couples dance non-stop with a ten-minute break every two hours, and whoever is left standing at the end will win the not insignificant—at the time—prize of $1500. Our protagonist, Gloria, flawlessly portrayed by the goddess Jane Fonda, is just another bitter and disillusioned soul among many, who doesn’t even dare hope for anything—she just participates in this contest, hoping to escape the depths of absolute poverty.
The direction and editing are unique, with flash-forward scenes interwoven, foreshadowing the ending—a finale I personally didn’t want to believe, even though it seemed inevitable. The atmosphere throughout the film is so claustrophobic that you feel more like you're watching a psychological thriller than a period drama.
The parallels with today are, unfortunately, obvious. What is our life in late-stage capitalism if not an endless race for survival in a world without justice? The audience in the film claps, laughs, has fun watching people suffer. Aren’t we doing the same? Don’t we watch people being humiliated in reality shows or suffering, as if they were just entertainment? They Shoot Horses, Don’t They? is a cry for the human being who struggles mercilessly for a shred of hope. And at the same time, it’s an accusation against the world that forces him to live this way.
Hello Hivers cinephiles, I hope you are well. I had quite some time without stopping by here, let's say that these last few months I have not been watching as much TV and movies as before due to lack of time but this weekend I took it for me and for movie evenings so I bring you some recommendations, the first is an Argentine film that left me with good impressions, for some time now I think that Argentine Cinema specifically has come a long way and has grown quite a lot to the point of making very good series and movies that deserve to be seen, this movie is from 2018 and I got it by chance looking for what to watch on MAX and I was not disappointed.
Dolores Dreier is a young woman accused of murdering one of her friends, at the beginning of the film nothing is told with such forcefulness but we know that something happens and that catches you from the first moment, Dolores lives locked in her house for two and a half years waiting for the trial that can change her life completely, her family environment is quite tense with very strict and meticulous parents who think about every step that their daughter will take because they do not want her to end up in jail, the movie can get very dense at times but it is not for less going through all the situations that are happening, at times you can feel that she is living within the story, Dolores at times thinks to give up and not continue with her life despite knowing that she is not guilty but we know that there is something that she does not want to tell so it leaves you with the intrigue of knowing if it is guilty or not until the end of the film, because it sounds quite complicated situation, when the day of trial she is declared innocent but you know she will always carry that burden for her entire life.
What caught me the most in this movie were the performances and how dense some family situations can be and with people in general, where everyone has their own point of view and everyone decides whether they think she is guilty or not. I hope you liked this post, see you in the next one.
""Kenau: A harpy for some, a woman hero for a nation" the story always has two versions, that of each rival, but the personal one... the personal one is another even more raw, the pain of a mother and the revenge"...

¡Hola!
Me flippan.

Hello! I'm Equipodelta and I come to recommend you this movie set in medieval times. You will know some history about the Eighty Years' War where the Siege of Haarlem took place, it might seem like a documentary of those events in the history of the years 1572 and 1573 when the Spanish wanted to invade Harlem. However, it does not focus as such on the history of the war but, on the personal life of the heroine Kenau, a woman who thanks to her intelligence, used her grief of loss for her daughter and fought in the siege, becoming the leader of an army, hated by the Spaniards of that time, who make us see in the film could not believe that a woman could defeat their plans again and again.
I loved this movie, because I love movies that tell us about the history of a country or a character, documentary type but we know that it is not as real as "real life" sometimes it can be exaggerated or can be "softened" however, I did not know this heroic woman and it has captured my attention so much that I started to research about her and her story and the siege of Haarlem to be able to discern between the movie and reality. I have been shocked and eager to know more.
It reminded me so much of one of my several favorite medieval history movies starting with Joan of Arc, then William Walace, Draco, among others. I flippancy.

Focused on the story of Kenau, a wood merchant, widow, after the death of her husband she was left alone with two daughters and surviving everything made her develop a keen sense in business, in times with her husband they were opposed to the control of the rulers, even more to the Spanish invasions, however, when her husband died, she focused on her daughters and her economy.
One of her daughters followed her father's example and joined the opponents of the Catholic church, after several events she was captured with her boyfriend and was burned as a heretic, her mother could not do anything, however her sister to save her from dying a horrible death executed an act that left her mother impressed. She as a mother could not get the image of her daughter suffering and burning at the stake out of her mind, her other daughter claims her to stand idly by. In her awakening, she joins in the defense of the Spanish invasion and becomes a leader and heroine, taking care not to lose her other daughter.
She was criticized for being hard, cruel and even wanting to be like a man, filling her with humiliations and nicknames, but deep down, it was revenge for the pain of losing her daughter.

Behind the pain of a mother...
The Spanish empire could not believe "the woman who fights like a man" Kenau was seen by her people as a brave woman.
About the scenery, it has great photography, special effects and audiovisuals, it makes it look an expensive production.
About the actors, they are unknown to me but I can assure that they were splendid in each of their interpretations. This film has no waste for me, nothing to add and nothing to take away from it, at first I thought it was a war documentary, but quickly the script made us understand that it was the story of a woman.
Now researching real history, I have one more woman hero on my list, women who left a mark, who left a legacy and a story, of the strength we can have, the intelligence and resilience to face great challenges.
If I could give it more stars than the 5 I normally give it at most, I would give it 10, that even if I didn't know the whole story of Kenau, the movie caught me and I loved it. But yes the producers made it clear in the reviews that, much of the story told in the movie about Kenau is fiction.
Enjoy it as a family, on these movie Sundays.
When we talk about Dying of Pleasure, we think of sex until you feel you can’t have any more, and although this miniseries has some of that, it’s more about the road to death. It is difficult to think about what we would do if one day we are told that we have little time to live, although death is part of life and we know it is going to happen, nothing prepares us for such a news. Maybe we have a lot of unfinished things and maybe we have spent our lives living just to pass the time without feeling really happy and satisfied, thinking that we have a lot of time left to live.
When I started watching the series I did imagine a woman looking for sex but I didn’t read why and I didn’t read how sad it was going to be for me. But this production is not only sad, it is also very funny with a lot of dialogues and scenes that give what we would call “Pena ajena” but who cares about that, if we are walking the road to death.

Molly, embarks on a journey of sexual rediscovery after she is informed that the breast cancer she had gone through two years ago has metastasized to her bones. She realices she has little time left but what she really regrets is not having lived her sexuality to the fullest, not having been able to have an orgasm with anyone other than herself, so she leaves her husband who although well intentioned does not provide her with what she wants before he dies.
Her friend Nikki is the one she chooses to accompany her in this moment and with whom she wants to die. Watching this relationship I felt lonely because I have never had a friend like this, the character of the unconditional, loyal best friend who leaves everything to accompany her friend, is the most emotional I have seen and Jenny Slate’s performance is spectacular, it made me cry a couple of times but at the same time it also made me laugh because when these two women were together accepting death it was a learning journey and not only for them but for everyone who watches the series.
Michelle Williams is who plays Molly, a difficult character because in addition to knowing she is dying she is also dealing with a sexual trauma caused in childhood and with which she has had to live all her life, but she leaves everything no matter what anyone says and although she does not know what she is looking for she is willing to try everything until she finds what really makes her feel alive. It is a journey that may seem unnecessary but since she had nothing more to lose, everything she learned about herself was going to be a gain and the most important thing is that there was no limit, since she was willing to try and test herself.

The parts about the hospital and the illness and coming to terms with it and living through those moments, I don’t know if it will ever work for me but I felt so at peace with the theme that it made me stay inside the series. I really liked Molly finding what she was looking for and making peace with her past, getting the inner peace she so desperately needed and having the people she really loved with her.
That last chapter was to cry snotty but also brings you a little joy, they are feelings that I do not know if they go well together but with this series you get to feel them because you cry but you feel good. I really recommend this series that is based on a true story and that makes it more emotional, but it is not that you are going to spend all the chapters crying, NO, here they know how to mix sex, illness, friendship and comedy very well. You have to see it because it leaves a feeling that I can’t explain.
Thank you for visiting, reading and commenting
