¡Hola queridos usuarios de Hive ✨💕!
    Hi dear Hive users ✨💕!

¡Hola hola Comunidad!

Hello, hello, everyone! ✨, I’ve been a fan of the To All the Boys universe for several years now; not only did I read the books, but I also eagerly awaited the release of each film. I loved the actors’ performances, and although I wasn’t keen on some of the changes, they’re still films I go back to every now and then. That’s how I ended up at KISS secondary school 🤣, joining Kitty on this new adventure, the first season of which didn’t really grab me. However, with the release of the third season, my curiosity was piqued again, and that’s how I gave this story a second chance. That’s why today I’m going to share my thoughts on XO, Kitty (Season 2) 💋🇰🇷.

    💖 SINOPSIS || SYNOPSIS 💖

Kitty Song Covey thought that returning to Seoul would be her perfect chance to get things right. A new semester, new rules and, above all, a firm resolve never to let her love life turn into a walking disaster again. But of course, we’re talking about Kitty, so between feelings that just won’t settle, new people entering the scene and the impossible-to-ignore glances from Dae, Yuri and Min Ho, that promise to keep the drama under control lasts exactly as long as it takes for the next problem to crop up. Because if there’s one thing this second season has, it’s that every time Kitty thinks she understands how she feels, life shows her there’s still so much left to discover.

And as if the romantic chaos weren’t enough, this time her return to KISS also pushes her to take a much closer look at her mum’s past, the secrets that still connect her to Korea, and those family pieces that never quite fit together. Amidst new mysteries, shifting friendships, loyalties put to the test and emotions that are no longer so easy to hide, the season transforms Kitty into a more vulnerable, yet also braver version of herself. Because sometimes returning to the place where it all began doesn’t mean finding answers, but discovering questions that are far harder to ignore.

A hybrid that can’t quite make up its mind what it wants to be 🇰🇷

I’ll start by saying something I’ve felt since the first season: XO, Kitty isn’t quite a series I’m crazy about, and this second season has only confirmed that even more. I still find it entertaining—I won’t deny that—and I remember perfectly how excited I was when they announced a story centred on Kitty, because within the To All the Boys universe she was always a character with huge potential. But I feel the series has ended up in a very strange middle ground, as if it still doesn’t know whether it wants to be an American teen drama, a light-hearted K-drama, or a mix of both.

The problem is that this mix rarely feels organic. In the first season, at least, there was an attempt to maintain a certain Korean aesthetic, some cultural elements, a sense that we were actually accompanying Kitty in Korea. But in this second season, that practically disappears. Apart from the characters occasionally mentioning that they’re in Seoul, the series could take place in any other fictional boarding school and the result would be exactly the same. And that, to me, is a massive missed opportunity.

I say this mainly because the protagonist has no first-hand knowledge of her own culture, and is also naturally curious and emotionally impulsive; yet the series chooses to prioritise the romantic drama rather than making the most of everything Korea could have contributed to her personal growth. In that sense, it reminded me a great deal of Emily in Paris: the country ends up being more of a backdrop than a real experience, and that detracts from the depth of a story that could have had so much more to say.

💋 Kitty y el difícil arte de ser adolescente || Kitty and the difficult art of being a teenager 🇰🇷

Part of my issue with this season also has to do with Kitty as a character, because, yes, she does become quite unbearable… but I completely understand why.

I think that when we watch teen series as adults, we forget just how exhaustingly intense those years can be. Everything feels huge, definitive, urgent. One emotion is everything, and the next day it means nothing. Your own problems seem like the centre of the universe, and everyone else’s fade into the background. And Kitty represents that stage almost too accurately.

She’s impulsive, persistent, tends to overreact, and sometimes seems incapable of seeing beyond what she’s feeling in the moment – and that’s precisely why she can be exasperating at times. But not because she’s badly written, but because she perfectly embodies what it means to be a teenager. The problem isn’t Kitty; it’s that we often look at her expecting a level of emotional reasoning that simply isn’t appropriate for her age.

And although that makes her hard to bear at times, I also think it makes her consistent with the tone of the series. She doesn’t always make good decisions, she often ignores what’s going on around her, and yet there’s something real about that chaotic way she navigates her emotions.

One of the things that really got me thinking was the attempt to explore Kitty’s sexuality and emotional identity, because, honestly, I feel the series didn’t quite know what it wanted to do with that.

The impression I was left with is that the writers were writing as they went along, without a really clear idea of the direction they wanted to take the character in. And that ends up being reflected in a Kitty who doesn’t seem to understand very well what she wants, but not from an interesting teenage perspective, rather from a narrative that gives the impression of improvisation.

What happened with her crush on Yuri is the best example. At first, it’s portrayed as something impossible to hide, intense, evident in every gesture and glance… and then it vanishes almost overnight, as if someone had simply flicked a switch. There was no emotional transition that really allowed us to understand that change, and that makes the conflict lose its impact.

Rather than showing a confused Kitty, what it conveys is a story that couldn’t quite decide whether it wanted to explore that further or simply use it as a temporary dramatic device. And considering all the potential that narrative thread had, I did feel it was left rather half-baked.

💋 Las tramas que realmente rescatan la temporada || The storylines that really make the season 🇰🇷

If there was one thing I genuinely enjoyed about this season, it was two storylines in particular – and, interestingly, neither of them has anything to do directly with the romance. The first was the whole storyline about Kitty reconnecting with family members she didn’t know. I found this storyline to be one of the most special aspects of the season because, at last, we see Kitty operating from a much more intimate and vulnerable place.

Her interest in uncovering what happened regarding that old family wound, understanding the conflict and finding a way to heal something that didn’t even directly belong to her, struck me as one of the most beautiful aspects of the series. Thanks to this, we see a Kitty who is less focused on seeking attention and more connected to a part of herself that had long been suppressed. It’s a search for identity that feels genuinely honest and really redeems the character. For me, this was the perfect opportunity to delve deeper into Korean culture, her heritage, her family history – all the elements that could have enriched the season… and yet I still feel they didn’t quite make the most of it 😭.

The second storyline that really took me by surprise was that of the season’s villain. For a teen series that doesn’t really operate within the conventions of a mystery genre, I found the arc they gave this character surprisingly interesting and quite well executed. It had so much potential to become something darker, more sinister, and even more ambitious within the show’s light-hearted tone.

That’s why I was a bit disappointed that it was resolved so quickly. It was one of those subplots that could have developed much further, but the impression it leaves is that they weren’t interested in delving too deeply into it because the focus remained on the romantic drama.

Overall, I wouldn’t say this is a memorable series, at least not for me. But I do think it does a great job of keeping you entertained for a few hours, and for a teen series, that’s quite an achievement in itself. I didn’t end up hating anyone, which is honestly a win in itself when compared to other teen series like The Summer I Turned Pretty or The Buccaneers, where I did end up feeling far more frustrated with certain characters.

Here, however, after letting the season settle for a couple of days, I found several interesting ideas, well-crafted elements and some storylines that do merit analysis. I don’t think it’s a series that should be judged by adult fiction standards, because it’s clearly not designed for that. But even within the teen genre, I feel that it’s neither the best nor the worst, but simply a fairly entertaining middle ground, with good intentions, a few missed opportunities and enough drama to keep you watching ‘just one more episode’.

Ultimately, XO, Kitty Season 2 ends up in that curious middle ground; it has several missed opportunities, particularly when it comes to Korean culture and Kitty’s emotional development, but it also has little moments that really save the experience, especially when it steps away from the romance a bit. If you’ve already watched the whole season, let me know what you thought of it, because I feel this second part gives us plenty to discuss 👀💖.

  2. Kitty's Adventure In "XO Kitty": A Charming Binge@merit.ahama356d

I have like hundreds of bingeable series to pick from and thinking about it now, it's been years since I started seeing series the way I do. Once it's very interesting from the start, I find it hard to stop until I reach my elasticity (fall asleep) lol.

I remember my most memorable bingewatch with my siblings when we were younger and dad was away for work, I remember we were seeing the Korean series "Boys Over Flowers" and we even had snacks to keep us awake all night.

I think I've recommended that series now as it is but I'd love to share the one series I saw from start to finish without giving myself a break because of everything the series had to offer, and it has been the most recent memorable for me.

It was even more unique for me because of the months this series stayed on my watch list before I finally got to see it and how excited I was to see the next season at the time it was released. My most bingeable series is "XO Kitty".

    MV5BN2NmOGNhZDgtZmQwMi00NWUwLTk3MGItY2Y2M2M5NWYwNzViXkEyXkFqcGdeQVRoaXJkUGFydHlJbmdlc3Rpb25Xb3JrZmxvdw@@.V1_QL75_UX500_CR0,0,500,281.jpg Image from Imdb

"XO Kitty" as at writing this has only two seasons but the viewers are looking forward to a third season. Even with that, each season had a good closure to the story but viewers wants more and the writers are listening and giving what we want.

The show has a beautiful cast of Anna Cathcart as "Kitty", Sang Heon Lee as "Minho", Choi Min-yeong as "Dae" and others who made the story all beautiful and super cute. I love romantic comedy stories so this one was totally it for me.

I remember the moment I started the first episode of the first season, I knew I won't be leaving my position until I was done with it, "It's just 10 episodes, I'll be done in no time". Well, it wasn't the case as I kept repeating some scenes.

A story about Kitty, an American girl who travels to KISS, a school in Seoul, Korea to find her mother's home and be with her long time distant boyfriend. Navigating a new life in Seoul, bonding with new friends and her unexpected emotions.

I spent almost half of a day on this series first season and I was so hyped about the love story cooking inside a love story, how beautiful and exciting it was to see a new kind of love bloom where viewers least expected it, Kitty and Minho.

I can't think of a boring episode in this series, even in the second season as I saw the second with a friend who was even more excited than me as we binge-watched it to the end and chatted happily about it. I think no boring episode is a criteria for bingewatching, don't you think same?

I added a YouTube clip of all Kitty and Minho's love cooking up scenes, it's my most favourite from the binge watch. Kitty's adventure in Seoul has to be the most beautiful and strange one to see in a mini romantic series. I enjoyed it totally.

This series is highly recommended for your bingewatch, it's got a rating of 9/10 from me and it's perfect for romantic comedy lovers. Want something to binge watch and enjoy your time on, "XO Kitty" crosses all the cool criteria for you.

  3. A Perfectly Addictive "Min Ho And Kitty" Duo In "XO, Kitty" - Series 1 & 2 Review@merit.ahama511d

I'd feel like I cheated on my favourite characters in this series if I don't share a review of my experience on it. I've seen the first season of this series over three times and I would be seeing the second season for the second time soon. That's just how much I enjoy every bit of the storyline.

It's a new story that begins from the film franchise I reviewed some days ago "To All The Boys I've Loved Before". I still remember the scene it spinned from, where the lead character now was just a little sister to Lara and meets a young guy during her family's vacation in Korea.

A long distance relationship got close when Kitty decides to travel back to Korea to find her mother's story and meet the love of her life by attending the school her mum went to... "KISS".

    Season 1 Review

    MV5BYmQ0MzJlODUtYjI2ZS00ZWQzLTkxYzYtNjRjNDZlZTgzNmRkXkEyXkFqcGc@.V1_QL75_UX960.jpg Image from Imdb

Now I feel like words will fail me to express just how well done I think of this series "XO, Kitty", the story and the characters all met my standard for a mixed movie, featuring Americans and Koreans. I would be honest to say I got curious of actual Korean actors being good in English in it.

Min Ho isn't the main character, Kitty is but he had my attention in every scene he got in because of his British accent as a Korean guy. His duo with Kitty is the main reason I'm invested in this series, it's amazing how they are not together yet but we're all rooting for it to happen.

Talk of a perfect slow burn romance with lots of comedy to keep every viewer engaged and happy through till the end. The season one had all the excitement flowing, as the lead character (Kitty) travels to Korea and attends the prestigious high school, KISS to meet Dae and other reasons.

    MV5BZDQ3N2Q0MTItNWNjZi00YmJiLWE2NzctYmQxYmQxZTI1NjkzXkEyXkFqcGc@.V1_QL75_UX722.jpg Image from Imdb

First off, the School doesn't exist in real life so I must give them that for making the whole thing seem so real. Her first meeting with Min Ho (the supporting character who take over the show) was both funny and one that kept us excited for how their friendship will turn out besides Dae.

I enjoyed the many twists with Kitty's feeling from the start of her time in school to the end, it's still shocking how she went from liking guys to liking girls. Viewers can't get over that about the story, it's not something I support the idea but I think it okay since they wouldn't end the story there.

The story in season one ends with Kitty breaking up with Dae, her first love and while she is being confused about her new feelings for a lady, she gets confessed to by Min Ho who has fallen for her. What a twist to end the series! This had viewers waiting for the next season as we are all hoping to see Kitty and Min Ho together officially.

    Season 2 Review

    MV5BZWMzMzhmMDktNTYyZS00MjEzLWEzNWMtMGQ4MDU1MmMxYjQ0XkEyXkFqcGc@.V1_QL75_UX722.jpg Image from Imdb

Even with how hyped I was since the end of the first season, I forced myself to wait till all episodes of second season were out before I started this one and it was totally worth it as I binge-watched all episode in less than half a day. As expected, it started from where we all wanted.

The heartbreaking thing was, Kitty didn't accept Min Ho feelings and so we continued with the slow burn romance and hiding of feelings to not be the weird one. Min Ho gets into a relationship with a new face character (a new student) who has an ulterior motive. I was totally against it lol.

There were iconic scenes and my favourite is where Min Ho confesses his feelings and later in the second season, Kitty realizes her feelings. There were also iconic lines like "I think I've fallen in love with you, a little bit or a lot" that keeps ringing in my head and I know I'm not alone, lol.

The Kitty - Min Ho duo is my favourite part of the whole series and so I chose a trailer that focuses on them in both seasons. The second season ended but we're left in suspense waiting for the next season as some things haven't happened yet, especially our favourite duo getting together and I kinda believe it would be worth the wait.

Till the next season, I'm recommending the series to anyone who's yet to see it and would love a beautiful teenage love story. It's 9/10 from me.

  5. A marathonable series: Xo, Kitty [ESP/ING]@cami.rojas1089d

    ¡Hola, Comunidad de Hive!

    Hello, Hive Commnunity!

Up here those of us who watched A todos los chicos de los que me enamoré, the trilogy of movies based on the books of the same title, those of us who watched those movies can affirm that Kitty was one of the most catching characters, so for that reason, I wanted to watch this Spinf Off quite independent, I mean, you don't have to watch the movies to watch this series, we will talk a little bit about this production.

Xo, Kitty is a series consisting of 10 very short chapters (30 minutes), which tells us how Kitty has lived a long distance relationship with a guy from Korea, so she decides to apply to an international school in South Korea to meet her boyfriend and also reconnect with her mom's past.

The story is presented in a quite explosive way so to speak, that is to say, in the first chapter quite a few things happen, and suddenly Kitty's life takes a big turn, it is a k-drama style story, a style that I do not usually consume much in productions, but, according to what I have read there were some representations of Korea were good, they even included the festival of Chuseok, which is very important in this culture.

Personally, I felt that there were representations that I liked, for example, they put LGBTQ+ relationships that feel very natural, but, they also represent the homophobia that is real in this country. It really is a very cliché story, it moves forward in a rushed way and you feel that many things happen, but at the same time they don't, however, it is very catchy, I watched this series in one night and a little while in the morning.

As for the characters, I feel that this same energy of Kitty persists in this new series and it is very boom, too much boom, that sometimes it was unnecessary for them to be so intense, so intense that I felt that in a way it could invalidate a little bit the others and their feelings. Her first love interest is Dae, that boy she met on a family trip, I didn't like this character very much, I feel that he had a lot of potential, but he became opaque and ended up being very gray.

A character that I did like and that in fact from the first moment I related to Kitty, was Min Ho, really even though his bad boy description is predictable, I really like how he presents himself. Yuri, on the other hand, did have a nice ending so to speak, there were moments when I felt he got a little lost, but overall, I liked him a lot.

The visual and cultural part (being a little knowledgeable, but I did my research jiji) seemed right, it was shown a little bit, but, that this little bit has been applied in a certain way I feel that it enriched the plot. Also, you have to remember that this is a series that mixes Korean and American culture, after all the context is an international school with many foreigners, by the way, a curious fact is that this type of school does exist in Korea, which I find interesting.

Xo, Kitty is not a series that will change your life, it is a drama that bets on a teenage audience, it is a completely marathonable and light series, it entertains and of course it left an open door for a next season (typical of Netflix), but, the truth was something I enjoyed.

¡Hola queridos usuarios de Hive ✨💕!
    Hi dear Hive users ✨💕!

I'm back people 🤣, a week ago I was lost but things happened, for starters I had a lot of activities at the university especially some important internship deliveries, but as if that wasn't enough the weekend I got sick, and it's only now that I'm feeling well, so for my own wellbeing and mental health I preferred to give myself a mini holiday, even from the university. But I'm finally back here, and something I did invest my time in these days, was watching a couple of movies and the series I'm going to talk about today, just out of the oven and with just a few days of release, today I bring you my opinion about Kisses, Kitty 💋🥰.

Set on May 18, 2023, this Netflix teen romantic comedy series was written by Jenny Han, the same author of the To All the Boys I've Loved Before books which were adapted into a movie a couple of years ago, and from which this TV series was derived. The story focuses on Katherine (Kitty) Song Covey (played by Anna Cathcart), who we know as Lara Jean's younger sister, and who has fallen in love for the first time with a Korean boy, with whom she has maintained a long-distance relationship for several years, seeking to break that distance with our little Kitty, who thinks she is an expert in love, decides to travel to Korea to study at the same school as her boyfriend, but when she gets there she realises that love is much more complicated than she thinks, and what seemed like the perfect plan in her head, soon turns into something else.

The To All the Boys movie saga is without a doubt my favourite films, so when they announced that they were going to make a series about Kitty, the truth is that I was really excited because the character of Kitty was super interesting to explore, she was a charismatic girl, she cheered up and loved her sisters, And even though she could be a bit nosy at times, she was really cute, when I saw the trailer a few weeks ago my excitement grew even more and even though I didn't notice the release date, when it was available on Netflix I had to tell my sister to watch it right away. I must say that my excitement only lasted a few chapters because after that the story became quite heavy, there are several elements of the plot that I feel were not well developed and Kitty stressed me out a lot, something that ironically did not happen in the movies.

Let's start with the main character, Kitty, I feel that there was a slight change in her essence, I guess it's because she's a character that grew up and we couldn't see her with certain childish behaviours, but even so I missed a bit of Kitty's particular way of being, starting with the fact that they took away her glasses 🤷🏻‍♀️, and yes I noticed that detail, and also at a certain point I missed the tenderness that characterised her. She is a character that goes at a mile a minute and during the whole story there wasn't a specific moment in which she was given a brake, honestly I missed someone to make it clear to her that she wasn't the centre of the universe and that around her there were people with even bigger problems, when I thought that at last someone would finally say something to her, it turned out that they didn't and that everything was solved quickly. The ending, and specifically the part involving the school, seemed very rushed to me, I mean I felt like they needed to give it that twist and they didn't know how to put it in until the last chapter in the most abrupt way possible.

And justly one of the main aspects I didn't like about the show was the way they introduce plot twists, there is one specifically in the middle of the season that I honestly didn't see coming at any point in the story, again a twist that was introduced in the most abrupt way they could find and it made me disconnect from the story, because I was falsely understanding where the story was going and then suddenly it was thrown in my face that poe there wasn't 🤣, I really felt so disconcerted that from there on the plot became quite heavy and in certain parts boring. Although I must not add all the weight to this element, it is also true that from here they started to open many alternate stories that made you lose the focus of the main story, such is the case of the director Jina (Yunjin Kim) and the issue related to her past, a plot that since it was insinuated in the series I knew where it was going, a couple of things surprised me but didn't leave me with that feeling of not having understood what happened, this subplot of the series entertained me much more than all the drama of Kitty 🤣.

There were a couple of characters that I liked and others that I didn't care for, but my favourite was definitely Min Ho (Sang Heon Lee) 💕, he's the perfect self-centred and arrogant guy that you end up liking and being your favourite 🤣. At the beginning he is someone who seems super shallow and arrogant, but as the series progresses you realise the weight of his story and you empathise with him a lot, contrary to what anyone would say about a character like him, he really is a very good friend, even at the end when he has this argument with Dae (Choi Min Young) is because in a sense he is tired of the way he is behaving, and at a certain point in the story he also plays a role of friend to Kitty, despite being "anti Kitty" 🤣🤣, he is also one of the funniest characters in the whole series. The colour palette of the series is simply beautiful, as usual in these stories, and although it has beautiful landscapes in some scenes, I did need to see a little more of Korea.

With all that I just said, don't think that I didn't like the series, because I really did, I really enjoyed the first chapters and although the last ones had me a bit bored, I do feel that it's worth watching, it's perfect to pass the time and have an amazing marathon afternoon 😌. The series is available on Netflix, as well as the movies that precede it, although you don't need to watch these to understand the series, but go and watch the whole thing 🤣💞. See you in the next post, and I hope I don't disappear anymore 🤣.

As a die-hard fan of the entire To All the Boys I've Loved Before franchise, I couldn't pass up this series about the youngest Covey sister, so yes, I watched it in one day, but it's that the truth is short, its first season has 10 chapters, each of the episodes has a maximum of 28 minutes, so it is not very long to watch to marathon.

When he arrives in Korea, nothing is as easy as he thought and relationships are much more difficult than they seem, he lives new experiences but above all he learns new secrets from his mother.

I really loved this series, but for my taste not everything was perfect, so the most likely thing is that from now on you can find one or another Spoiler.

What I really don't know because I felt very forced was that Kitty liked Yuri, I felt like they wanted to force it, that is, the series has a good inclusion but this specific one made me uncomfortable, I feel that with another partner I felt better, because everyone falling in love with everyone has always bothered me about youth series haha I remember that about Soy Luna that was one of the things I didn't like at all.

    IMG_5381.webp

    Teen Vogue

The plot of the supposed brother was a love hate, since at first I felt it very forced but then the real context of everything did please me, did it catch me so I misjudged that part from the beginning.

I really liked the conflict with Dae and Yuri, their fake relationship, with a good friendship in the background, in the same way I really liked that Min Ho ended up in love with Kitty, because he was very Lara Jean with Peter in the first film, they began to spend time together, they got to know each other and little by little they began to enjoy their time together more.

    IMG_5382.webp

    CartelTEC

I enjoyed it a lot, but I feel that perhaps it needed to focus more on specific issues, since it had so many plots that none of them felt like the main one, so it was quite confusing, obviously with an ending that left something to be desired, so we just have to wait next season lol
