The Godfather (1972) "Power is not just about guns and voilence, it's about respect" So Some movies are just watched, some are remembered, and then there are those that remembers from one generation to each new generations despite the passage of time. The Godfather is one of those few masterpieces. It's not just a mafia movie, nor is it just a crime story. It's a story of power, honor, family, loyalty, betrayal, and the changing nature of man that lingers in the mind long after it's over.

When I first watch this movie, I was expecting it as gangster movie, with shootings, car chases, and explosions every few minutes. But as the movie progressed, I realized that the real power lies not in firing a gun but in sitting still and making a decision that shakes the entire city.

This movie doesn't make a lot of noise, it slowly takes over your mind. The film begins with a wedding where happiness, music and family are everywhere, but amidst all this happiness, people are sitting in a dark room in front of one person to make the biggest decisions of their lives. This contradiction makes The Godfather unique. On one side is the love of family, on the other hand is power politics. On the one hand is celebration, on the other hand are decisions that sometimes cost lives.

Don Vito Corleone — the man whose silence was also a command

When he speaks, he does not raise his voice, but everyone in the room becomes silent. He certainly hates his enemies, but he makes decisions not in anger but with reason. This is why people not only fear him, but also respect him.

He has a principle that family comes first. The world can change, businesses can change, friends can become enemies, but family is both his weakness and his strength.

Don Vito also teaches us that a true leader is not the one who solves every problem himself, but the one who leads others to a point where they can still run the system.

Michael Corleone — The Quietest Man, the Most Dangerous Change

At first, Michael seems different from the rest of the family. He wants to stay away from his family business. He has his own life, his own dreams, and he wants to prove that he is a different person from his father's world.

But life does not always go according to our wishes.

Circumstances make a person into something he never imagined.

Michael's greatest quality is that he does not let his emotions show on his face. He speaks less, listens more, and thinks even more. When he is silent, it is as if he is reading everyone in the room.

Behind that silence is born the personality that will later change the course of the entire story.

Sonny Corleone — Fast as Fire

He loves his family dearly, but his anger often turns his strength into weakness. He wants to answer every problem immediately. He does not like to wait.

His character reminds us that bravery alone is not enough, intelligence is also necessary.

Tom Hagen — The Brain Behind the Power

He is not a Corleone by blood, but he is no less loyal. He believes in the law and words more than in guns. Many times he says something that indicates an impending danger, but people ignore it.

Tom proves that not every battle is won on the battlefield, some battles are won by sitting on both sides of the table.

The real hero of the film — family

Every decision, every sacrifice, every success and every loss ultimately revolves around family.

This film repeatedly asks the question: if you have to sacrifice your comfort, your innocence and your old life to gain power, is that power really success?

The atmosphere that brings the film to life

The pace of this film is not like today's action films, and that is its greatest beauty.

Every scene is given time. Every dialogue feels important. Silence is also as powerful here as a long speech.

The dim lighting, the classical music, the streets of old New York, the dark suits, the fedora hats, the cigar smoke, and the uncertainty on people's faces... all of this together creates a world where you don't just watch a movie, but feel like you're part of it.

My opinion

For me, The Godfather's greatest achievement is that it doesn't just show the mafia as powerful people, but as human beings. Their decision their mistakes and their fears are all revealed.

The film doesn't show us crime, but rather shows that power always comes at a price. Every decision, no matter how strong it may seem, demands some kind of sacrifice.

The Godfather is a film that you don't fully understand after watching it once. Every time you watch it again, you find a new clue, a new thing, or a new perspective about mafia life.

There is one specific movie that has successfully taken me back to a special time in my life and that is none other than Michael (2026). It was an unexpected thing for me, because I never imagined I would watch a movie related to my favourite idol. My happiness knew no bounds when I first watched the trailer, I was on the verge of crying. Because I am one of his biggest fans.

I have been a die hard fan of Michael Jackson since I was young. My mother used to taunt me because I used to skip classes just to listen to his new released songs. I still remember listening to his songs whenever I had the chance. I live in Bangladesh and at that time we didn't have the internet or streaming services. I always had to wait for his songs to hear it on the radio or watch it on TV, I would stop my activities just to watch and listen to Michael Jackson. Can't describe how much I loved his voice and his energy. He had taken a special place in my heart and his dance moves amazed me every single time. I always wanted to dance like him.

The moonwalk was the move that completely made me go crazy and I watched it over and over again, I have lost the counts. I was too curious that how could someone make it look so effortless and how he was so perfect. I was desperate to learn it and show off to my friends. I used to spent hours trying to copy his moves at home, sliding across the floor and faced many failed attempts. Once I had participated in the dance competition at school and I danced on Michael's song with his iconic moves and guess what? I had won the first place! I was so happy about it. To be honest, no matter how good I danced but I could never master it like him. When I think of the past time, those attempts to dance make me smile because they remind me of how much I admired him.

Today, I am a man in my 50s and as a die hard fan my love and respect for Michael Jackson has never faded. I also made my children listen to his songs and they also fell in love with his aura. When I go on vacations with my family, we would always listen to his songs. So, you can already tell how much I appreciated him and made my loved ones admire him as well.

When I heard a movie about Michael is going to happen any soon. I was more than happy. I was excited to see someone representing my idol. At first I was scared because I wondered how they would portray him. When he was alive he had suffered a lot for false allegations, so I was afraid that they may portray him wrongly. I would have been really upset if that had happened but gladly it was nothing like that. I was happy to know that Michael Jackson's biographical movie was portrayed by his real-life nephew, Jaafar Jackson.

When I saw him in the trailer for the first time, I could already tell how good it was going to be. He was playing the adult role of Michael and I was amazed by Jafar's acting skills. The child actors they were also good. Specially, the man who played the role of Michael's father he was making everything feel so real. I could feel my blood boiling at some points. I'm glad they did show a bit about how Michael's childhood was. The movie could not fully describe his whole life in just a few hours, but still I was impressed by all of the casts and storyline.

This movie reminded me that there was just a young boy who couldn't wait to hear the next Michael Jackson song. Watching this movie brought all of those memories back. The movie reminded me why I became his fan in the first place. He was a man of kindness and innocence. I always wanted to be a kind person like him who would spread his love to the world. Every sequence in the movie reminded me of the past memories.

As a crazy fan of Michael, I truly enjoyed the movie. I almost cried while watching the movie because it made me feel nostalgic. The legend is not with us anymore, but his presence is always there with us because of his songs. When I was watching the movie it felt like I was reliving a part of my childhood. It felt like I was getting a bit closer to him.

So, there are multiple reasons why Michael (2026) means a lot to me. This movie reminded me of the dreams, excitement and admiration I had as a young fan. There's no doubt that, no one ever can be like him and he is the greatest of all time. Even though I'm older now but hearing his music and watching anything related to him gives me the same feeling I had decades ago. Michael Jackson became part of the memories that shaped my childhood and this movie brought those memories back in the best possible way.

Got home and I was intending to watch Furious (2026) but to pre heat things up decided to get Beast (2026) out of my bucket list first, when it came out had a lot of buzz around it considering its a low budget movie and with Russell Crowe, still consider a great actor so ofcourse it was going to have an audience around it. The first ten minutes trick you into thinking you are about to watch a masterpiece, because the energy is just ufff sky rocket high. There is this scene backstage at a ONE Championship event, where Russell Crowe plays Sammy, hyping up Patton James, played by Daniel MacPherson, chanting an intense mantra about breathing to think and thinking to win, and you really believe this is going to be a non stop action movie, not talking about John Wick but a very hyped up Rocky MMA version. Then the movie pulls a bait and switch, cutting to years later, where Patton is working on a depressing fishing boat, its like they decided to give you glimpse of his good old times before showing the now days. He already stood up for his simpleminded friend Neal over a busted trap and a docked paycheck, but what actually costs him the job is a blowup with the skipper, who crosses the line insulting his kid and it escalates so fast the guy pulls a flare gun on him right there on the dock. That shift from a hyped arena to a guy going pay check after pay check, suffering life each day, totally drains all the energy right out. Crowe barely does anything, spending almost the entire movie sitting down using two canes, while MacPherson gives it everything he has surrounded by side characters who do not bring anything to the story. The movie has this cool underground MMA vibe but bogs itself down with domestic drama that honestly doestn add to the emotion of a fighter, some my argue it gives it purpose but its boring AF when they try to get into that aspect of the training, suffering and motives behind the fighting.

The one thing keeping this movie up float is the villain Xavier Grau, played by real life martial artist Bren Foster, who completely owns every scene he shows up his face, they guy is not easy to like and thats good because movies are aboout generating some sort of feeling, at least hating a guy is good, when its for the right reasons. Xavier is the reigning ONE Championship titleholder and they give him a slimy manager played by Luke Hemsworth, who brings a perfect cheesy energy to the business side of fighting. There is one crazy scene at a shipping yard, an unsanctioned fight with wooden slats on the floor costing ten thousand dollars a ticket, go figure this is where the movies starts to be a bit irrational but what ever lets say it cost that much, Xavier has this show off fight, he throws incredible kicks while his opponent actually slams him through a table like a WWE match. Foster makes the striking look authentic that you believe this are real MMA fighters, that I have to give it to the movie and casting someone who actually knows how to fight adds a realism you do not get from regular actors or doubles for stunts. I would have preffer more fluent fight scenes rather than the editing style they choose for the movie where they show one punch and then an instant cut away, so you never actually get to sit with the full choreography. Xavier comes off so arrogant and terrifying that he ends up being the only guy you actually want more out of his character and I just wish the camera would back off and let these two go at it without all the cutting killing the flow.

Beast clearly wants to be some mix of Warrior and Rocky, with Patton trying to prove he can still fight even though he is older and way past the point where most people would tell him to walk away. The problem is the movie never really gets deep into that story. A lot of it feels more like a two hour commercial for ONE Championship, with the logo everywhere and the circular cage constantly mentioned. I have seen plenty of movies packed with obvious branding that still manage to tell a good story, but here the fighting world just feels empty. Patton ends up training with Sammy's daughter Rose after Sammy refuses to help him, and we are supposed to believe Rose is this great coach, but the movie barely does anything with her. She mostly stands around watching Patton train instead of actually feeling like the person leading him into a title fight. There is even this ridiculous sparring scene where Patton destroys three guys back to back while Rose watches and tells her dad that he is basically losing his mind in there. The movie keeps reminding us that Patton is an aging fighter with a gray beard who is about to face a much more dangerous opponent, and that should have been enough to build some real tension. Instead we mostly get training montages, sweat and Patton looking angry. If you go with the flow of the movie at times you will be basically in automatic mode because I latter realize there is very little about how he plans to actually win this fight or change the way he fights because of his age, the plan is full send it, funny enough this is a back to back sports related movie without intention after Happy Gilmore 2. Same as in Happy Gilmore 2 there are cameos here that feel forced, like they just need to happen because in this case they are directly related to MMA like with Demetrious Johnson appearing for a quick hug during the walkout and then disappearing. he movie has all the pieces for a decent comeback story, but it never does enough with any of them.

Now for one of the worst parts of the movie and that is Patton's brother Malon, walking around with pink hair and acting like he is some kind of superstar fighter. During his fight with Xavier Grau, Malon is actually having some momentum and look like the one with the upper hand and even sends him through a table, but things go bad when the referee is already waving Xavier off and he still lands another illegal shot. Malon ends up in a coma with a clot on his brain, but the guy already had a mountain of problems before any of this happened. He owes fifty thousand dollars to a shady lender named Barry Dunn and apparently borrowed all that money to keep his fighting career and lifestyle going, so there is a huge story of bad decisions going on. You would think almost dying would be enough for Malon to finally slow down, but nope, once he is back he goes right into more bad decisions and signs up for an unsanctioned fight with Xavier. That whole thing ends at a shipping yard with Malon hitting his head on some equipment and dying, that feels like the movie just needed another tragedy to push Patton over the edge. After losing his brother, Patton completely falls apart, drinking alone in his garage while still hiding his training from his wife Luciana. She is angry at him for lying and it is only later, after Malon's death and seeing how badly Patton is dealing with it, that she finally tells him to go fight if that is what he really needs. There is also this whole side story about Patton taking care of Malon's fifty thousand dollar debt with Barry, I would say that at least the movie remembers to finish that part and confirms they are square, but it still feels like another strange thread that takes you offroad from what you probably really sign up and thats an MMA fighter so why they always have to add the family death, drinking problems, wife leaving and gambling problems in the mix? its just so cliche and convenient at the same time, specially in a movie already packed with too much drama. The Malon story should have been the emotional moment for the story but instead it just keeps piling bad decision after bad decision until the guy is dead and Patton has one more reason to look miserable before the title fight.

This morning I had some time to kill as I was waiting for a provider to finish a job at one of the office so I was just sitting there looking at them so they dont break anything or do anything dumb, decided to pull my tablet and casually watch something, usually this are the moments I kill movies from my bucket list. Happy Gilmore 2, I had no rush at all to watch, considering all the rummors that went around about how this is no contender to the GO one, and I did not expect the turn they take right out of the gate, because they open with the darkest choice possible. The movie opens on a brand new scene, Happy living his life with his wife Virginia and their five kids, and then he hits a golf ball that accidentally strikes and kills her in the first three minutes. Happy spirals hard, turns into a full blown alcoholic, quits golf completely and the movie keeps making a joke out of where he hides his booze, a hollowed out cucumber, inside a cuckoo clock, even in his cell phone. That is a weird way to handle grief, one minute you feel bad for the guy and the next the movie just wants you laughing at how far he has fallen. It turns out very sad from the start, nothing happy though, its just this old man wander around wrecked forever and the only reason he picks the clubs back up is his daughter getting into some expensive ballet school in Paris that costs thousands, but I dont know if the setup feels too simple, it does feel like there is missing something, it just feels off. He ends up working a dead end job at a grocery store living check by check and the whole thing feels sad instead of that loud angry energy I remember from the original. I get how Adam Sandler can be funny even when he cries but this one just feels sad plus the constant booze references felt like it was too much over and over.

There was a ton of nostalgia involve on this movie, you might expect Adam Sandler is going to lead the mood of the movie but for me was McGavin by Christopher McDonald who probably had the most impact on the movie, the guy was locked in a psychiatric facility for the last twenty nine years, the dude had this lunatic vibe and still not the villain of the movie. This time the actual villain is Frank, a rich CEO played by Benny Safdie who wants to launch some ridiculous extreme golf league called Maxi Golf. His whole plan is basically to turn the sport into a louder, crazier version and he even pulls some strings to get Shooter out of the asylum. Frank is also stuck with this running joke about his horrible breath, including a really stupid detail where his secret headquarters literally recognizes his farts to let him inside. Shooter wants nothing to do with Maxi Golf and sees the whole thing as an insult to the sport, so naturally things go bad pretty fast. Eventually we get a fight at a cemetery where Happy and Shooter are beating the hell out of each other around the graves of Bob Barker and Chubbs, with the movie throwing in even more jokes from the first one. The fight is actually pretty funny, but then the two just suddenly decide to stop hating each other and team up against Maxi Golf. It makes almost no sense after everything between them, but seeing Happy and Shooter sharing the screen again gives the movie some much needed life. I just wish they had spent more time bringing back their old rivalry instead of rushing straight into the team up, especially because Safdie never really feels right as the big corporate bad guy in a Happy Gilmore movie.

On top of that the movie is stuffed with way too many celebrity cameos that add nothing and just yank you right out of the story, too too many distractions for my taste. Steve Buscemi plays a strange neighbor across the street who literally pees inside a mailbox and does ballet moves in his yard, this kind of ridiculous behavior in my opinion is a waste of talent, Buscemi is an actor with ton of range that can pull off any kind of characer but this one is just too silly. Happy needs a new caddy and ends up hiring a former busboy named Oscar, played by Bad Bunny, one of those cameos that made more noise than what they actually contribute to the story. They bring back Ben Stiller as his nursing home character Hal, who now runs the Alcoholics Anonymous group Happy attends after crashing a golf cart drunk and gets zero funny dialogue, again the dark side. Then Eminem shows up playing the son of the guy who tormented Happy years ago, talks tough and gets thrown by Happys four giant sons into a pond full of alligators, where he tries to fight them before getting dragged under. None of these famous faces add to the humor, they just walk on screen so the audience can point at them before they just gone and eat up runtime and every callback stops the movie for a flashback just in case you forgot what happened decades ago, almost like we didnt know or the director though its been too long for people even know who Happy is. All these random scenes make the whole thing feel like a stack of internet clips instead of an actual story about a guy trying to help his daughter.

Put all this Maxi Golf nonsense next to the simple story from the first movie and it is easy to see where the sequel loses me. Back then Happy was just a failed hockey player who discovered he could hit a golf ball insanely far and suddenly found himself going against Shooter McGavin, a real pro who hated everything about him. That simple amateur against the pro rivalry was basically the whole joke. Here Happy comes out of retirement trying to help his family and his daughter chase her dream, but somehow the movie ends up throwing him into this insane extreme golf league that barely even feels like golf anymore. If you follow football, Maxi Golf honestly feels a little like Kings League, just louder and with the rules changed to make everything look crazier. The courses have ice rinks, monkey bars, fire and all kinds of ridiculous obstacles, but the problem is you never really understand how anyone is scoring or even winning. After a while I was completely lost with the actual game. Then the movie explains that these new golfers can hit the ball so far because they had a ligament in their backs surgically cut, leading to this long story about an old golfer named Ben Daggett and a golf shoe being shoved up his ass over a gambling debt. It is exactly the kind of random dumb joke the movie keeps stopping for and it did nothing for me. Happy never gets a simple challenge or a real rival like Shooter. He just moves from one crazy obstacle to the next while everyone around him acts like a cartoon character, even when Frank openly rigs the final green against him, there is no real tension because the whole tournament already feels made up. Just because on this one they go bigger and crazier does not automatically make something funnier and Happy Gilmore worked much better when the golf around Happy was normal and he was the crazy one.

So let's get into the movie, The story follows a sing name theif wanted to become member of the axe gang,but his luck is not with his side.He makes selfish decisions lies and tries foolish things and take shortcuts in life. And one other things I love about this movie is the unpredictable things in this will happen in this movie, so everytime u thinks I know the story and then u will be wrong,in this movie even the smallest characters plays an important role nothing is wasted in his movie and u will love it,

And one another thing about this movie is that it's mixed with the comedy and action one minute u will laugh harder and then u will be thrown into the action andkung Fu battles that looks absolutely beautiful and amazing. And I forgot the it's emotional story and I love it so underneath the comedy this movie is all about redemption sing believe that kindness leads to weakness he understands that real strength isn't about fear or violence. It's aBout protecting those who can't protect themselves. And just like I said every character plays important role so it's credit goes to this supporting cast too. And I know sompeople criticize it bcz of it's unrealistic action but if u leave the movie own its own terms then this will become an unforgettable experience. And overall this movie was my favorite in childhood that I watched but at that time I never understood true meaning of this movie now I understand it,it's comedy action and heartfelt story telling without missing anything is absolutely amazing and this movie leaves u courage of redemption. And in my way it's kind of movie that defines and tells that cinema can be so much fun.

The movie I chose is a bit different, but it resonated with me because of a similar experience I had. I once struggled to understand someone's life; I admit I judged the way they did things and their lack of discipline in certain activities. So, I set out to study the situation—spending a whole week with that person to see exactly what they did and why they had so little time, even just to answer a message.I came to understand how little opportunity they had to pick up their phone, and that doing so didn't mean they were idle. I understood their tight schedule and the commute involved in being in three places at once. I realized that running a company is no easy task, and that leaving work meant heading to their safe haven—home—to rest and relax both mind and body.

My perspective shifted from judgment to appreciation: I saw that despite their circumstances and our differences, they still made time for me. I appreciated that every outing after work happened because they wanted to go, even after a long, exhausting day. I learned to value details I had previously viewed with indifference. I put myself in their shoes and gained a lot of insight. That’s what the movie was like for me; sometimes you have to step into someone else's shoes before judging them or assuming they don't appreciate you. That specific aspect of the film really touched me—beyond the comedy plot, the underlying message truly hits home.

I know you might say that the movie I’ve chosen this time is quite different from what you’d expect—it’s not exactly a romance, a tragedy, or a heavy drama. It’s called Freaky Friday (specifically the sequel released in 2025), starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan. On the surface, the plot involves the usual conflicts of opinion and disagreements—including the drama surrounding an upcoming wedding—but I’m interested in the message the film conveys.

To explain my personal take and the different perspective I have on this film, let’s set the scene: it all begins when two teenagers—who have only recently met—get into trouble at school. Their parents are called in to handle the situation; they meet and instantly fall in love.

After spending six months together, they decide to get married.

However, her daughters do not get along at all; amidst everything else on their to-do list, they hold a bachelorette party, and that is when the drama begins: they encounter a psychic who tells them their lives are destined to cross paths once more (something that had already happened in the first installment, when mother and daughter swapped bodies).

If it happens again, but the two teenage girls—who don't get along at all—are also involved, here is my point.

They do everything in their power to avoid leaving the country and to stop the wedding from happening—even plotting to make everything go wrong for the other person—but they end up learning a valuable life lesson. They never imagined that the other person cared for them so deeply; they had to step into her shoes to see how difficult her life was, only to realize they had been thinking about her more than they had ever suspected. They had to hear how much she appreciated them and feel proud, realizing that she truly knew their tastes and valued the little things. Once they understood all this, they returned to their own bodies, and the story concludes with the wedding taking place and the relationship turning out far better than they had expected.

So, my thinking is based on the fact that there are situations where we complain about people because they don't understand us, or we don't understand their lives—hence the saying "put yourself in my place" or "walk a mile in my shoes."

La película seleccionada por mí es algo diferente, pero me atrapo por algo que me sucedió similar , donde yo no entendía la vida de alguien y debo aceptar que juzgue un poco su manera de hacer ciertas cosas y la poca disciplina que implementaba en realizar algunas actividades, entonces me di la tarea de estudiarla y pasar toda una semana con esa persona y ver que tanto hacia y porque tenía tan poco tiempo, así sea para contestar un mensaje, entendí el poco espacio que tenía para tomar el móvil, que cuando lo hace no es porque estaba desocupada, entendí su horario y lo ajustado que era, entendí su trayecto que tenía que estar en tres lugares a la vez, entendí que además de eso manejar una empresa no es tan fácil, y cuando salía de allí era ir a casa su lugar seguro donde podía descansar y relajar la mente y cuerpo. Entonces tuve un cambio de empatía en ya no juzgar sino apreciar que a pesar de sus situaciones y diferencias, aun así tiene tiempo para mí, que cada salida después del trabajo era porque si quería ir a pesar de haber tenido un día largo y cansado, apreciar cada detalle que yo antes miraba con indiferencia, me puse en su lugar y entendí muchas cosas, así fue la película, a veces hay que ponerse en el lugar de la otra persona antes de juzgar y pensar que no te aprecian, es por ello que la película me toco en esa parte en específico más que una trama de comedia el mensaje interno siempre llega.

Sé que dirán que la película seleccionada por mí en esta ocasión es muy distinta a lo que pueden esperar, más que una película romántica, trágica o dramática. Se llama otro viernes de loco, la segunda parte estrenada el año 2025, protagonizada por Jamie Lee Curtis y Lidsay Lohan.

Se basa en un trama normal donde existe controversia de ideas y desacuerdos, donde hay drama por casarse, pero me fijo en el mensaje que quiere expresar la película.

Entremos en algo de contexto para explicarte mi punto personal y como miro de diferente esta película, todo comienza donde dos adolescentes que tienen poco tiempo de conocerse se meten en problemas en la escuela y sus padres son llamado para solucionarlo, estos se conocen y al mismo instante se enamoran.

Después de 6 meses de pasar tiempo junto deciden casarse

Pero, sus hijas no se llevan nada bien, entre todas las cosas por hacer hacen la despedida de soltera y es cuando empieza el trama, se encuentran con una vidente que les dice que nuevamente sus vidas se cruzarían (en la primera parte ya había sucedido esto, donde madre e hija intercambiaron de cuerpo).

Si sucede nuevamente, pero se suma las dos adolescentes que no se la llevan nada bien, aquí va mi punto.

Ellas hacen todo a su alcance para impedir irse del país, que no se diera la boda, hacer planes para que todo le salga mal a la otra persona, pero se llevan una lección de vida, nunca imaginaron que esa persona las querían más de lo que ellas pensaron, tuvieron que colocarse en su lugar para ver qué tan difícil es su vida y aun así pensaban en ella más de lo que imaginaban, tuvieron que escuchar todo el aprecio que sentían por ellas y sentirse orgullosas porque realmente si sabían sus gustos y apreciaban los detalles. Cuando entendieron todo esto volvieron a su cuerpo y pues la trama termina donde se casan y se llevan mejor de lo que pensaban.

Entonces mi pensamiento se basa en que hay situaciones donde nos quejamos de las personas porque no nos entiende o no entendemos su vida, he de allí el dicho ponte en mi lugar o ponte en mis zapatos.

The legend was a lie

I've always loved Kung Fu, fighting and action movies. I feel like I've watched hundreds of them. However, Shaolin Soccer remains one of my favorites. It's very entertaining mixed with action and comedy. What makes Shaolin Soccer unqiue to my liking is the fact that it doesn't take itself too seriously. The visual effects aren't that great in todays standards, but back in the day they felt amazing. Stephen Chow's comedic timing is also amazing, and every character of the team with their own also has their own personality.

The premise

The story basically starts with "Golden Leg" Fung, a superstar football player in the movie, who misses an important penalty shoot on purpose. It is revealed that Hung, the antagonist in the movie manipulated Fung to missing that shot. After missing the shot, the angry audiences attacks Fung, basically breaks his legs, hence ending his football career.

After that event, we come to present day where Fung basically becomes a servant to Hung. When asked if he could lead coach Hung's football squal, he reveals that he hired those who broke his leg.

Fung basically breaks down and wanders in the street. There he meets Sing (Mighty Steel leg), a Shaolin monk who dreams of bringing Shaolin Kung Fu to the modern world. After demonstrating his skills, Sing manages to convince Fung to start their own team. So they go out to recuit Sing's former friends with their own special ability like iron leg, iron head, iron shirt, weightless etc.

The movie is full of laughter and action while also portraying an inspiring message about perseverance, friendship, teamwork, and believing in yourself. It's also about an underdog team story that makes you want to cheer for the characters until the very end.

If you've never watched Shaolin Soccer, you can give it a shot.

Personal Memory Lane

I have lot's of memories tied with this movie with my brothers. It was not only my favourite movie, it also used to be favorites of both of my brothers. We watched it many times together. Had so many of the lines memorized. We even remember the lines from the silly songs in the movies.

Using Tai Chi Kung Fu to make steamed buns - what a brilliant notion. Fill the pot from heaven with sweet buns; fantastic when done. You're a Kung Fu master, I can see, and your homemade treats look so tasty.

Now we all live in different countries, but this movie still brings that memory together.

So yeah, hope you watch the movie. Writing this post is making me want to watch it again. lol

Review Backlog: I'm still here in Hua Hin on vacation and I watched some more things here but still have to catch up on making reviews on them as sitting in my room on my Laptop is not the thing I want to do the most here. I watched Backrooms, Disclosure Day, Obsession, Supergirl here in Bluport mall Cinema and also finished From Season 4 and watched the 5 Centimeter Per Second anime movie which I all plan to make reviews on in the coming weeks to catch up. Starting today with Backrooms.

Backrooms Internet Hype

Apparently it all started with a 4chan post where and image of an empty office/furniture store that thad yellow walls and carpet with light combined with a text how this was a scary place where you could noclip into like a video game glitch.

This was followed by more people controcting a story around this place and in particular 16-year old Kane Parsons who made the video Backrooms Found Footage which is a 9-minute short film.

It kind of blew up and it was followed by a lot more videos on the backrooms to the point where he managed to seal a Movie deal resulting in the Backrooms cinema release.

Backrooms (7.8/10)

The movie basically follows 2 people in a black guy who owns a furniture store and divorced his wife, and his psychiatrist who kind of deals woth her own trauma from the past. Generally I don't really like movies with too much past psychological drama characters and to be honest this was borderline in this regard but just not to the point where it overly annoyed me.

Basically, one night the guy discovers a gateway into the backrooms in his store and starts exploring it. He tells his psychiatrist about it and goes missing afterward which makes her go loof for him discovering he actually was telling the truth about the place he found. The trailer very much shows the entire setup of this.

If anything, this is a very environmental oriented horror movie and it does this really well in every way. I absolutely love the time spend in the backrooms as it's just weird and creepy in so many ways and most of all an unique concept. I also love how the explain things and also the twists and turns that Kane Parsons gave to it around the ending even though I didn't fully understand most of it and needed to go watch some Youtube explained videos to better understand.

Conclusion While the backrooms by no means is a perfect movie and almost annoyed me in the 'character trauma' aspect of it, I still hightly enjoyed the unique environmental horror aspect of it and after reading more about what actually unfolded it also grew a lot on me in the weeks after initially watching it. So still a very solid 7.8/10 as a fan of the Backrooms interney hype. I'm quite sure that they will make a sequal and I'm highly looking forward to that.
