I have been a fan of the show since Season 1, I did assume it was based on books before I find out but recently I have been thinking why ppl get so mad about the show not following the books and probably its because the series is so repetitive, probably the books thematic is a bit different when it comes to how the main characters behave and manage their powers. We are on season 3 and we are still stuck on the same, separate the group and some have no clue on how to control their powers. Season three has come to the same point again where they spread out across the world and handles multiple story lines, I have to admit that this time at least Perrin is getting way more screen time than before but we stuck on the same cycle, reason why sometimes it feels there are episodes that only gives us a few good scenes, it is the case of episode five.

In the meantime a more interesting event goes on between Egwene and Rand, she has finally started her journey on dream walking, trained by the Wise Ones but its not an easy thing to master, she have ben training hard but eventually got caught up in a dream with Lanfear who drop the beans for her, letting Egwene know that she an Rand have been intimate and together for a very very long time, this idea got Egwene to think Rand knew about what Lanfear has been doing to her on her dreams, tormenting her like she still a Damane. On the series its still not so clear what Lanfear plans are, either she wants to control Rand, reason why she getting rid of the other forsaken or she have this sick love for him to the point she wants him all for her. The series has mention before how this had happen in the past, this story already happen many times with the similar results, similar to the 1000 outcomes Moiraine saw through the rings, my question is why things never work out?.

The love hate relationship with Daredevil Born Again INTENSIFIES!!!! episode 8 just release but I had to watch and post 7 first, episode 7 just made me mad AF the reason why is because this series keeps burning villains like there is no tomorrow but still keeps Kingpin and Daredevil far away from each other. I know they probably trying to keep Kingpin as the final boss but how could they get rid of such a big character like Muse so quick, yeah the guy is dead. Don't get me wrong, there were some great moments during the episodes, specially when it comes to fight scenes but overall the episode feels rushed in moments where it should have taken a while or at least a break, it also feels like episodes are getting shorter with each episode, honestly I'm started to get disappointed by this series, if they keep it this way it wont end well for the audience.

Even though Muse doesn't talk that much during the series, when he is with Heather having a session does give that pure evil vibes without remorse but at the same time that sick look on his eyes like he doesn't even understand the reasons and why he is like that, this make him a very interesting character in the surface, reason why I personally wanted him to last longer than other villains in the series so far. In contrast to Daredevil, Muse does know he is sick and evil without denying, he embrace it all the way and doesn't have the struggles that Murdock does with been Daredevil. On the series is almost like Muse didn't even wanted to kill people because he feels the need to go through the rush and experience of killing, in fact he seem to do it for the blood and paint his twisted art to speak through it, it is the case of his critics against Mayor Fisk.

I have to say this is not the type of movie I would normally watch but my wife sat me down during the weekend to give it a try, she already watch it and love it, she actually wanted to rewatch and she knew I haven't so we share the almost two hours of Baribe (2023). I was kinda skeptical about a movie based on a doll and how girly it could be but director Greta Gerwig managed to create something that end up in a movie been entertaining, funny and surprisingly thoughtful. The movie takes the wold famous Barbie doll and transforms her into a character almost human like, who at a certain point goes offroad and deal with some heavy existential questions, go figure a doll that have doubts about live. During the entire movie she look bright, colorful and really make the impression of been just Barbie, something they manage to pull without been heavy of CGI and let Margot Robbie do her charming magic of been just her and smile. Some of the reasons I enjoy the movie is the mix of comedy, social commentary (not so much but still) and emotions in a way I didn't think possible for a girly toy movie that could have easily been just a two hour movie about a human trying to bring to life a toy. The movie had big success at the box office during the summer of 2023 going head to head with other movies like Oppenheimer (in fact I didnt like that one) and after watching Barbie I can see why it was successful, it has the basics of a movie for everyone, there is music, comedy, drama, nostalgia.

This is a good watch, not a great movie but a good one so I don't want to tell the entire story, rather just give you a glimpse of the contrast between the classic perfect world and how human reality goes head butting against each other. I enjoyed the movie combination of color some of them been very electric between yellows, green and intense pink, the environment from backdrops to stage and the music never felt like overwhelmy girly but it did get close a few times, they did play a couple of songs that are not my daily driver but it was not bad as I would expect a constant musical coming out from a movie that was suppose to be as girly as it can be.

Jane Schoenbrun, dirigió y escribió esta película que más que ser completamente de terror, es un coming of age, con elementos psicológicos y sí, con episodios terroríficos; esa es la base de una historia que primeramente explora la adolescencia a mediados de los 90’, desde el punto de vista de dos solitarios personajes que consiguen refugio y la amistad en el momento en que una serie de TV les ofrece respuesta a preguntas a la que posiblemente ellos no estén tan preparados para hacer. Mi primera impresión en esta película es sobre los efectos de la soledad y aislamiento que padecen adolescentes los cuales les impulsa a generar una extraña conexión (en esta caso) con un TV Show; es un coming of age típico lo cual se hace algo tétrico mientras la soledad va haciendo estragos en la mente de los protagonistas, pero la realidad es que está historia ofrece más, en dónde a pesar de seguir el lineamiento de las películas de ese género, usa de muy buena manera, la nostalgia y la fantasía para relatar una terrorífica, dramática y real historia de adolescentes.

La fotografía así como la edición y dirección son excelentes, está película contiene imágenes melancólicas, muy coloridas con un uso de filtro que hace recordar a producciones televisivas y vídeo musicales de los 90’ y como es de esperar, la nostalgia se hace presente, en especial en los dos primeros actos del film; esas características me hace pensar que Schoenbrun planeó muy bien la creación de este film en dónde a pesar de que la historia prosigue en la época actual, de igual manera no pierde ese estilo de hacer shows televisivos hace 30 años, los cuales son la mayor influencia de esta película. La transición de la realidad y lo fantasioso es bastante crudo y muy notorio, en eso se recrea o posiblemente rinde homenaje a los "Fan Films" lo cual me pareció perfecto por el auge que tuvo entre los 90' y 2000; ese aspecto da una sensación de ser una "Película B” y seguramente es eso lo que se le puede relacionar al género del terror.

Jane Schoenbrun, directed and wrote this film that rather than being completely horror, is a coming of age, with psychological elements and yes, with terrifying episodes; that is the basis of a story that first explores adolescence in the mid 90's, from the point of view of two lonely characters who find refuge and friendship when a TV show offers them answers to questions they may not be so ready to ask. My first impression of this film is about the effects of loneliness and isolation suffered by teenagers which drives them to generate a strange connection (in this case) with a TV Show; it is a typical coming of age which becomes a bit creepy while loneliness is wreaking havoc in the minds of the protagonists, but the reality is that this story offers more, where despite following the line of films of that genre, it uses in a very good way, nostalgia and fantasy to tell a terrifying, dramatic and real story of teenagers.

The cinematography as well as the editing and direction are excellent, this film contains melancholic images, very colorful with a use of filter that reminds us of television productions and music videos of the 90's and as expected, nostalgia is present, especially in the first two acts of the film; These characteristics make me think that Schoenbrun planned very well the creation of this film where although the story continues in the present time, it does not lose that style of making television shows 30 years ago, which are the major influence of this film. The transition from reality and fantasy is quite crude and very noticeable, in that it recreates or possibly pays homage to the "Fan Films" which seemed perfect to me because of the boom it had between the 90's and 2000; that aspect gives a feeling of being a "B Movie" and surely that is what can be related to the horror genre.

Las actuaciones son buenas aunque la decisión de contar con los actores que protagonizan la historia puede crear cierta disyuntiva con respecto a la edad que deben representar en un momento en específico de la historia, el más notorio ejemplo de lo antes descrito es la interpretación de "Owen" por parte de Justice Smith, quien hace presencia en la historia cuando ese personaje debe tener al rededor de 14 años de edad; su interpretación de un adolescente bastante retraído, solitario, melancólico y deprimente puede no ser el adecuado por su aspecto, no importa que tan bajo y suave sea su tono de voz, parece ser que a muchas personas no sintieron agrado por su trabajo; ahora personalmente creo que el actor hace una buena interpretación, ya que las características de "Owen" siempre serán las mismas en diferentes etapas de su vida, es un personaje que rehusa de cambiar y esa es una o la gran característica de ese personaje en esta historia. Con respecto al desempeño actoral de Jack Haven como "Maddy", ella es todo lo contrario a Owen, aunque su valentía puede ser la causa de dolor o más soledad de la que ella puede sentir, en eso Hacen hace un buen trabajo, su actitud es la mejor, es alguien frontal, vulnerable, fuerte y extrañamente independiente, eso lo digo por su deseo de ayudar para que otros no sufran lo que ella está padeciendo.

The performances are good, although the decision to have the actors who star in the story can create some disjuncture with respect to the age they should represent at a specific time in the story, the most notorious example of the above described is the interpretation of "Owen" by Justice Smith, who is present in the story when that character should be around 14 years old; his interpretation of a quite withdrawn, lonely, melancholic and depressing teenager may not be the right one because of his appearance, no matter how low and soft his tone of voice is, it seems that many people did not like his work; now I personally believe that the actor makes a good interpretation, since the characteristics of "Owen" will always be the same in different stages of his life, he is a character that refuses to change and that is one or the great characteristic of that character in this story. Regarding the acting performance of Jack Haven as "Maddy", she is the complete opposite of Owen, although her bravery may be the cause of pain or more loneliness than she may feel, in that Hacen does a good job, her attitude is the best, she is someone frontal, vulnerable, strong and strangely independent, I say that because of her desire to help so that others do not suffer what she is suffering.

I Saw the TV Glow es de esas películas que son mal definidas y promocionadas; encasillar está producción en simplemente el género del terror es erróneo, ya que la considero un drama juvenil, con elementos psicológicos y por supuesto de terror, es un excelente conglomerado que me dejó pensando por largo tiempo después de verla y que me hizo investigar su más de sus protagonistas y de quién creó toda esta historia; justamente eso me hizo entender su verdadero significado con respecto a la transición de niño a adolescente, así como el de definir su identidad; todas esas sensaciones pueden causar alejamiento, soledad, dolor y tristeza, se crea un vacío en donde no sabes quién en realidad eres y en búsqueda de una respuesta puedes aceptar cualquier ayuda venga de dónde venga, un lugar de confort que podrá funcionar como un salvavidas, pero que nunca será algo definitivo, creo que es eso lo que también hace que esa historia pueda lidiar con el terror al ser algo real sin importar que tanta imagen distorsionada o terrorífica sirva en su relato. Pude leer que esta película no es para todo público y no creo que sea algo pretencioso decirlo, pero si quien decida verla, debe saber que esta es una película que no inventa nada en el género de los coming of age, aunque sí diré que es una de las mejores películas que he visto en este año.

I Saw the TV Glow is one of those movies that are poorly defined and promoted; to pigeonhole this production in simply the horror genre is wrong, since I consider it a youth drama, with psychological elements and of course horror, it is an excellent conglomerate that left me thinking for a long time after watching it and that made me investigate more about its protagonists and who created all this story; precisely that made me understand its true meaning regarding the transition from child to teenager, as well as defining your identity; all those feelings can cause alienation, loneliness, pain and sadness, a void is created where you don't know who you really are and in search of an answer you can accept any help wherever it comes from, a place of comfort that may work as a lifeline, but that will never be something definitive, I think that's what also makes this story can deal with the terror of being something real no matter how much distorted or terrifying image serves in its story. I could read that this movie is not for all audiences and I don't think it is something pretentious to say, but if whoever decides to watch it, should know that this is a movie that does not invent anything in the coming of age genre, although I will say that it is one of the best movies I have seen this year.

Mickey 17 (2025) a project many including me were waiting for, from the hand of Robert Pattinson aka The Batman aka Mr Vampire from Twilight Saga comes Mickey 17. In concept its a really interesting concept of space exploration with expendables as workers who were willing to die over and over for the benefit of the mission but there is also this idiotic aspect of leaving such important mission to lead, to a man who is pure chaos within other things, some of the worst things you can imagine.

Mickey falls in love with security agent Nasha, played by Naomi Ackie, who accepts him as he is but the weird part is that each Mickey they print out was different and during the movie the Mickey 17 mention how Nasha like every single one of them, taking in consideration she was crazy and a nympho too but it doesn't look like he was using him just for sex. The moment they arrive at Niflheim things got upside down by the discovery of creatures who Kenneth Marshall called Creepers, this creatures were so cute and meant no harm but Kenneth was peak paranoia of the unknown. When Mickey is sent on a mission to capture one, he falls into a cave and is swarmed by the aliens but they were trying to help him out not to eat him as he thought, he was so use to die that all he wanted was to get eaten and get it over and its here when Mickey 17 survive without the ship knowing before they reprint him.

The ending of Mickey 17 wraps up things not in the best way but certainly a definitive one after Mickey 18 sacrifices himself and kills Marshall in an explosion that fulfills the Creepers demand for a human life in exchange for the baby Creeper that was killed, peace is established between the humans and the Creepers who in fact were bluffing when it comes to kill the humans, they literally cant do them any harm other than run them over. There is also this final scene where we see that life on Niflheim has improved under new leadership, with Nasha now a council member who has helped reform the colony's policies, the expendable program has been officially ended and Mickey 17 is now simply known as Mickey Barnes taking back his identity and dignity too, they blow up the printer. There is also a twist that almost got me to be honest, its when Mickey had a disturbing vision or nightmare where he sees Yifa attempting to resurrect Marshall, claiming she's made the perfect sauce, this nightmarish scenes represents Mickey's anxiety about cloning technology misuse and the potential for history to repeat, basically go back into chains for him, Mickey was a slave, call it anyway you want it he was, even though he started the hole thing its just crazy to think this could actually happen in the future, no human should be treated this way. Its the destruction of the clone printer that symbolizes the end of an era of human rights abuses and exploitation.

Mobland (2025), as I'm still not fully committed to watch content as last year I'm slowly but surely getting back my rhythm, its just a lot of irl stuff and work in between, last week was though and drain me out to the point I couldn't post but here Im back at it. This weekend saw Mobland episode 2 release, open up RTT and there he was, Tom Hardy on the cover so I had to jump in, so sweet when you get to watch two episodes in a row but I don't like when they release two episodes at once, so there are some mix feelings.

I got to say this series kick off with a bang because right from the first episode we got some real cold blood gangster sht, Comrad play by no other than Pierce Brosnan pulls what I could only tell is a .40 and blow up Arch chest after thinking he is a traitor. As the name says its a series about gangster life, right now or at least until episode two its not about drug traffic in a sense they don't go into details on how to smuggle drugs but its about the two families that from what I can tell control London, the Harrigan and the Stevenons, the first episodes does a great job at setting the tone for the series for what promises to be a gritty and intense dive into the London's criminal underworld with a cast full of stars, the cast part is no joke so I hope this series deliver.

Latter during the episode the rest of the Harrigan family get introduce, at the head of the family there is Pierce Brosnan playing Conrad and Maeve played by Helen Mirren, this two make a great couple as husband and wife, but their bond on the criminal side of things is way stronger, I really enjoy how Helen triggers Conrad and after the chaos when she wants him to slow down he is in full alpha mode, almost like blaming her for what he has done.

The casting for MobLand is spot on across the board, I cant tell of a single character or at least the main ones where its not a perfect match, we got Tom Hardy who brings a quiet intensity to Harry that makes him instantly believable as a man who can go through the dangerous London criminal underworld. There is also Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren are absolutely electric as Conrad and Maeve Harrigan with a performances that screams sophistication and menace, both very capticating everytime they are on scene.

The relationship between Harry and his wife, Jan role played by Joanne Froggatt, adds that family man side of Harry, we can tell that Harry is trying to balance his criminal life style along with Harrigans and his desire for a normal family life, and I'm curious to see how this conflict plays out over the course of time, just patiently waiting for Venom to come out jajajajaj, because that is truly how it feels, Harry is so calm that some times just feels over the top but I like it.

The violence in the episode is brutal and it gets better on the second episode, but it never feels over the top or exaggerated, with every execution and orders from Conrad clearly shows the type of psychopath we dealing with so there is no reason why his grandson Eddie would turn out the way he is, for some reason his son Kevin came out as a soft one or at least he knows very well how to control himself because if Maeve raise him, well she is a psychopath too so.

The episode does an excellent job of setting up multiple story lines that they are all seem to intersect with each other right from the beginning, from the ongoing rivalry for control of drugs and territory between the Harrigans and the Stevensons, to Eddie's reckless behavior and complete twist from what the rest of his family members are since he is the only wild one, or at least for now, the series doesn't give any time or space for drama just pure action. The first episode leaves you wanting more and to be honest the first episode is a soft 7 for me, eager to see how things escalate way farther but it was worth waiting after watching episode two.

Overall, the first episode felt a big draggy, its not perfect but it's a strong start that sets the proper tone for what could be a truly gripping series. If the rest of the season can maintain this level of quality, MobLand could become must watch TV series for fans of crime action series. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing where this story goes and how these complex, morally ambiguous characters develop over the course of the season.

The movie stars Eva Green as Jake, as tough Army Ranger leading a team of female soldiers on a mission to rescue kidnapped schoolgirls in Afghanistan, aside from Eva Green been on the movie I also had some expectations given Campbell's track record with the James Bond movies GoldenEye and Casino Royale but at this very short part of the post you already know my opinion so let me dissect the movie a bit instead of you giving a bad review right from the front gate.

Campbell is still grinding away at making action movies which is impressive at his age of 81, even though he might be on the same age of some other directors say Eastwood, he is not that much recognize now days but if it was the early 2000s would be different. His record as a director is a mixed bag, ranging from those excellent Bond films to The Mask of Zorro and even the not so great Green Lantern with Ryan Reynolds, to put it gently, Dirty Angels goes to that extreme of Green Lantern so lest not sugar coat it.

Aside from everything else one thing I don't complain that much is the cinematography that get to capture the harsh landscapes well enough and the action scenes, when they finally happen, but there is something missing here and truth is that this is a movie, it needs to generate feelings and reactions that needs a good dialogue. I kept waiting for the movie to give me something to generate those feelings, say example a character I cared about, a moment that surprised me or even just a bit of fun, but instead we got a movie that feels hollow and the only focus is trying to show off female soldiers, like we didn't know Eva Green can take a beating, she have played though has nails characters before so there was no need to exaggerate it.

What's particularly frustrating is that there's potential on the idea, if they could put up something closer to Lone Survivor and The Kingdom of Heaven, when it comes to script but the same concept of the movie, even if they want to push the female soldiers team it would work, but I guess that's me asking to much or putting things into the perfect scenario. The idea of an all female special ops team going undercover in Afghanistan, a place where women's rights are severely restricted could have made for a compelling narrative with something meaningful, the ideas are not the problem since some of them are bold and tentative its the fkn dialogue, there is also the lack of context and character development, never digging deeper into its characters or themes.

Something that really really trigger me is now Jake; role played by Eva Green, refuses to learn her team members' names, instead referring to them by their functions, The Bomb, Medic, Shooter and Geek, who does that? who was the military advisor to this movie?.

Eva Green is given much less to work with here as Jake, she spends most of the movie in two emotional states, grumpy or glum. She is clearly trying her best with the material, bringing determination to the role but the character is so mentally weak and weird written that there is not much for her to grab onto. It's only in the final rescue sequence that she really comes alive, showing a ton of intensity that makes her such a great actress. It's hard for me to believe this is the same Artemisia I love from "300 Rise of An Empire".

The violence during the movie is very graphic and doesn't hold back, with people getting shot in the head or stabbed in the neck in brutal fashion, got to love those moments, but this violence doesn't seem to serve any purpose beyond shock value, this is not a slasher movie, we wanted more tactical action. The film doesn't have anything meaningful to say about the conflicts against ISIS Militantes, that it try to describe or the people caught up in them, it truly feels like its violence for violence trade, without any style or weight to it.

The pacing is perhaps the film's biggest issue, it takes far too long to get to the action and when it does arrive, it's competently staged but lacks any real excitement, there are a few nice kills that gets that dopamine flowing but never a real rush. The moment they finally storm the compound where the girls are been hold, I'm at the point of the movie of "its finally over.

I'm not a counsellor but if I were and you're knocking on my door today looking for something... I'd tell you to stop self-sabotaging yourself. I'm writing this and I imagine myself knocking on my own door, wondering what important thing I should know before this weekend is over. That! I've got it. The answer comes after the day's almost complete blur; first down the soft, cool morning paths and then down the rough, sweltering platforms in the afternoon. But I'll unwind this whole skein of emotions a little so that you understand me. It's not just a question of writing beautifully, but that what I write has a meaning, although we all know that everyone is free to interpret as they please.

A few days ago I planned to write a few lines about Flow, the animated film that has some people wondering about its meaning. There are quite a few explanatory videos about it, and people, from their different fields of knowledge, have been trying to explain what may be inexplicable. Everyone is going to see something different there. What a great merit!

With this Latvian film, directed by Gints Zilbalodis, it happened to me at a slow pace until I started to feel that I needed to give up... From the very beginning I wanted to understand everything, because the mind demands understanding, and 83 minutes were waiting for me in front of the screen. As they went on, my soul seemed to scream: live them!

I've spent the whole morning self-sabotaging myself. Thinking I wouldn't be able to say anything about Flow. And here I am finally busy sharing with you some of what I experienced.

I'm not here to say for the sake of saying, I always look to the act of writing as an outlet, a release exercise or a little chat to help me move forward in this process of acceptance and self-discovery. I need to be able to open myself to that other dimension but without forcing anything, I want it to happen in a perfect alignment between what I think, what I feel, what I say and what I do.

I have been seeing how situations emerge in my daily life that I have begun to see as tests, whose purpose is to verify if I have really learned something since I decided to improve myself. These are situations that I have to observe because if I look at them over time, they are nothing more than repetitions with different scenarios and people. It seems like something orchestrated to make me react and that's specifically what the challenge is about. I'm expected not to keep reacting the same way. And of course the triggers are deep and painful wounds that I am supposed to have healed or be in the process of healing.

There's a lot of that throughout Zilbalodis and Matiss Kaza's script, and the ending is the most mysterious, but I lived it according to my reality. That's why it's a marvel Flow in the sense that it has a lot of nested discourses or cyclical situations that the characters react to. I leave it to you to figure out how they do it. Although I don't rule out that before I end this post I'll share with you some of my considerations.

Instead of telling you about each character and what they embody for me, I would tell you that when you go to see this multi-award winning film you should do so with a small notebook by your side and write down what each of them makes you feel.

Today I asked myself, for example, why there are three characters that are unique: a cat, a capybara and a Leviathan. Maybe you have the same answer as me.

While watching this animation, which is actually a Latvian-Belgian-French co-production, I laughed at the things the animals did, a beautiful and innocent way of seeing myself, represented in them, I also suffered other moments... As for the cast... let me laugh again, there are several dogs but I liked that a Labrador retriever is one of the main characters. There are several lemurs with weird attitudes, but only one will be on the boat, with its weird attitudes. There are several secretary birds but only one is going to challenge what she considers to be wrong and evil in her house, even if she is defeated and brought to her knees by her equal. What's more, I love it when she reacts to inertia and it seems as if she says to herself: “this is my own life, I don't have to live someone else's”, and becomes the next crew member on the boat.

There are reindeer that run and shake the earth when something is about to happen and they also run in circles in one scene while the cat is dreaming. It seems to be a real behaviour of these animals. The film is full of images that I see as metaphors. That's why I tell you to live it, to feel it in the deepest part of your being, because every little thing will remind you of something in your life, and will show you the world in a very particular way.

Of course there are those who see an ecological sense in the film.

Water is going to be that element that will impose challenges, the house a safe zone, as later the boat will be, and then there are the attachments and those who save and those who care little about saving or being saved and there is someone who is wise enough to always be at peace, and there is the fear of the unknown and that constant desire to flee until you understand... oh, yes, you understand, the cyclical nature of things, that there is no death, but constant change and that flowing is what life is all about.

The eyes of the Leviathan in the final scene look like orbs. What do you see in that gaze? And what do you see in the gaze of those who discover that water is a mirror and that within it all fears were faced?
