I also had the pleasure of watching this movie; it was fascinating. Indeed, as you mentioned, I felt a certain inspiration from Alice in Wonderland , although this one is darker, of course less childish, and the creatures are quite bizarre. I recommend it, too.
It looks like a documentary; I like watching this kind of movie. Thanks for the review.
