Sony Pictures en los últimos años han estrenado una serie de films que pueden o no ser un éxito en taquilla; creo que el principal plan es llenar un vacío que dejan otras productoras con films de grandes presupuestos y es que pienso que Sony en ciertas épocas no quiere ser un competidor con otras productoras, pero eso no evita que realice películas que serán prontamente olvidadas o convertirse en una sorpresiva franquicia y en esta oportunidad, en el pasado mes de marzo, estrenó un film de acción y ciencia-ficción el cual tenía como única meta de entretener.
Sony Pictures in recent years have released a series of films that may or may not be a success at the box office; I think the main plan is to fill a void left by other producers with big budget films and I think that Sony at certain times does not want to be a competitor with other producers, but that does not prevent them from making films that will be soon forgotten or become a surprise franchise and this time, last March, released an action and science fiction film which had the sole goal of entertaining.
En "65" veremos la historia de "Mills", un explorador y piloto el cual vive con su esposa e hija en el planeta Somaris; por la necesidad de ofrecer un mejor tratamiento a la enfermedad que padece su hija, él decide aceptar una la misión la cual es trasladar a un grupo de exploradores a su planeta de origen; mientras realizan el viaje de regreso a Somaris, una inesperada lluvia de meteoritos aparece y es donde lo que era un trabajo extenso, pero fácil de realizar, se convierte en uno donde la esperanza de sobrevivir será cada vez menor y es que después de que la nave sufre graves daños, Mills aterriza de emergencia en el planeta más cercano el cual es La Tierra, 65 millones de años antes de la aparición de la raza humana; este lugar desconocido y peligroso por todas las criaturas que la habitan, hará que Mills acepte una nueva misión, ya que él no es el único sobreviviente porque una de las pasajeras, una pequeña niña será lo que cree otro motivo más para que Mills haga lo posible para que "Koa" regrese sana y salva a su hogar.
In "65" we will see the story of "Mills", an explorer and pilot who lives with his wife and daughter on the planet Somaris; by the need to offer a better treatment to the illness that his daughter suffers, he decides to accept a mission which is to transfer a group of explorers to their planet of origin; While making the trip back to Somaris, an unexpected meteor shower appears and it is where what was an extensive job, but easy to perform, becomes one where the hope of survival will be less and less and after the ship suffers serious damage, Mills makes an emergency landing on the nearest planet which is Earth, 65 million years before the appearance of the human race; This unknown and dangerous place for all the creatures that inhabit it, will make Mills accept a new mission, since he is not the only survivor because one of the passengers, a little girl will be what creates another reason for Mills to do everything possible for "Koa" to return home safe and sound.
Posiblemente, esta era la película que menos pensaba ver en este año, pero al ser una producción que no fue muy bien recibida por críticos y por el público en general, inmediatamente pensé en dar una oportunidad porque quería saber si era tan mala como muchos la habían descrito. Esta película fue dirigida y escrita por Scott Beck y Bryan Woods; ellos alcanzaron la fama como guionistas al escribir el guion de "A Quiet Place" (2018), aunque ya habían tanto dirigido como escrito otros films, entre ellos está el film de terror "Haunt" que espero ver muy pronto; en esta oportunidad la dirección es sencilla, porque hay alguno que otros planos extensos y todo se enfoca más en los dos protagonistas y en eso quiero decir que las escenas de acción me gustaron tal como están hechas; ambos saben cómo crear tensión y suspenso, usan muy bien la escenografía boscosa que se presta para muchos peligros y eso es muy importante para esta película porque desde el momento que llegan a la Tierra, siempre existe la posibilidad de enfrentar un grave peligro.
La historia es simple; un hombre adulto, alejado de su esposa e hija, lleno de tristeza y desesperación que de manera sorpresiva encuentra un motivo para avanzar y salvar a una inocente niña y posiblemente salvarse a él mismo; esto es en sí la base de la película, la base historia de la historia tanto de Mills cómo de Koa; una breve relación de Padre e hija adoptiva que crean un lazo al tratar de sobrevivir en un mundo peligroso; ya con esa descripción lo que ocurre en adelante es una lucha contra los implacables dinosaurios y el tiempo para poder escapar y es que la historia es adecuada para lo que sucede en las demás escenas de acción y suspenso.
Possibly, this was the movie I least expected to see this year, but being a production that was not very well received by critics and the general public, I immediately thought I would give it a chance because I wanted to know if it was as bad as many had described it. This film was directed and written by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods; they achieved fame as screenwriters by writing the screenplay for "A Quiet Place" (2018), although they had already both directed and written other films, among them is the horror film "Haunt" which I hope to see very soon; in this opportunity the direction is simple, because there are some that other extensive shots and everything is focused more on the two protagonists and in that I want to say that I liked the action scenes as they are made; both know how to create tension and suspense, they use very well the wooded scenery that lends itself to many dangers and that is very important for this film because from the moment they arrive on Earth, there is always the possibility of facing a serious danger.
The story is simple; a grown man, estranged from his wife and daughter, full of sadness and despair who surprisingly finds a motive to move forward and save an innocent girl and possibly save himself; this in itself is the basis of the film, the basis of the story of both Mills and Koa; A brief relationship of father and adopted daughter who create a bond while trying to survive in a dangerous world; already with that description what happens next is a fight against the relentless dinosaurs and time to escape and the story is adequate for what happens in the other scenes of action and suspense.
Las actuaciones no son para tomarlas en serio, son acordé a la historia aunque si, todo el peso lo tiene *Adam Driver quien interpreta a "Mills" el cual es un padre con un gran motivo para aceptar cualquier trabajo y ese es su hija que padece de una grave enfermedad; eso hace que cuando experimente todo el peligro en un planeta desconocido se sienta desesperado, pero con la aparición de "Koa" interpretada por Ariana Greenblatt, es que obtiene un nuevo motivo y entre su necesidad de ser un protector deberá hacer lo posible para que está joven niña tenga una vida fuera de ese lugar. Puedo decir que me gustó la interacción de ambos personajes que son diferentes, pero como dije en anterioridad, el peligro hará que un lazo se cree entre ellos y eso es algo creíble porque a pesar de ser un encuentro breve, estuvo muy bien desarrollado.
The performances are not to be taken seriously, they are in keeping with the story, but yes, all the weight is on *Adam Driver who plays "Mills" who is a father with a great motive to accept any job and that is his daughter who suffers from a serious illness; That makes him feel desperate when he experiences all the danger on an unknown planet, but with the appearance of "Koa" played by Ariana Greenblatt, he gets a new motive and between his need to be a protector he must do what he can so that this young girl has a life outside of that place. I can say that I liked the interaction of both characters that are different, but as I said before, the danger will create a bond between them and that is something believable because despite being a brief encounter, it was very well developed.
Entiendo alguna que otra crítica hacia 65, por ejemplo que pudo ser mejor y sí, por supuesto que pudo ser mejor, pero para ser sincero creo que todo eso es debido a las expectativas que se crea cada quien y para ser sincero, no sé qué tantas expectativas te puedes hacer con este film y no lo digo como algo negativo porque está película muestra lo que ofrece y nada más, no hay nada que te hará explotar la cabeza con respecto al relato y es que si se toma muy en serio, creo que debería dejarse de ver en tan solo las primeras escenas del film y justamente yo hice eso, no me tomé en serio este film porque para ser sincero si de ahora en adelante hago eso, entonces no debo ver absolutamente ninguna película que pueda darme algo de entretenimiento por más de una hora. Quiero dejar claro que este no es un film de terror aunque debo decir que sus directores saben cómo trabajar el suspenso y las escenas de acción; lo otro es que seguramente pensaba que este film tendría un parecido con "Alien" o "Predator" y no, está película no es de ese tipo de acción y terror, en mi opinión, este film tiene un tono familiar y creo que eso es lo que ha decepcionado aún más a críticos y parte del público y es algo lamentable porque para mí, 65 es entretenida, rápida, directa y nada más, así que si quieres ver un film para pasar el rato, algo que sea adecuado para sus expectativas, entonces le recomiendo ver este film de ciencia-ficción.
I understand some of the criticism towards 65, for example that it could have been better and yes, of course it could have been better, but to be honest I think that all that is due to the expectations that everyone creates and to be honest, I don't know how many expectations you can have with this film and I don't say it as something negative because this film shows what it offers and nothing more, there is nothing that will make your head explode with respect to the story and if you take it too seriously, I think you should stop watching it in just the first scenes of the film and I did just that, I did not take this film seriously because to be honest if from now on I do that, then I should not watch absolutely any movie that can give me some entertainment for more than an hour. I want to make it clear that this is not a horror film although I must say that its directors know how to work suspense and action scenes; the other thing is that I surely thought that this film would have a resemblance with "Alien" or "Predator" and no, this film is not that kind of action and horror, in my opinion, this film has a familiar tone and I think that is what has disappointed even more critics and part of the public and it is something regrettable because for me, 65 is entertaining, fast, direct and nothing more, so if you want to see a film to pass the time, something that is suitable for your expectations, then I recommend you to see this sci-fi film.
