Hello hivers, an happy Monday to you all! Today I'm here to share with you my own review about a Tv series I watched during the past weeks: Astrid et Raphaëlle.
"Astrid et Raphaëlle" is a Franco-Belgian detective tv series created by Alexandre de Seguins and Laurent Burtin and was first broadcast on 2019.
The main characters are two policewomen in Paris (France): Major Raphaëlle Coste (played by Lola Dewaere), and autistic archivist Astrid Nielsen (played by Sara Mortensen).

The first episode is a pilot episode (at now there are 6 seasons to watch) and it begins when Astrid, who is an autistic woman who works as archivist for the judicial police, meets Raphaëlle during the investigation into the suicides of doctors. Raphaëlle was impressed by the way to find connections between different files and documents that Astrid did and so they started to collaborate to solve the cases.
During the episodes we can follow not just the investigations, but also part of the past and actual life of Astrid, included the self help group for autistic people. That part is very nice in my opinion, because we can see people of the group while they help Astrid not just to face life's challenges (especially to face social skills), but in some cases they really help to solve crimes.
Another thing I liked so much is about the puzzle! Astrid loves to solve puzzle and she had a collection of different ones. In every episode, when she feel the need to be focused on something, she uses one of them to calm her mind and to help her to think better about every details of the case.
I titled this review sayng this is a light hearted detective series, but honesty this is also a funny series, because there are many funny moments between Raphaëlle and Astrid and with the others recurrant characters. Even if usually I prefer to watch the "old style" british crime series in the style of Aghata Christie's novels, in this one I appreciated how they treat the Astrid's autism during the episodes because it is only an element and not the entire definition of the woman. Maybe this is because one of the 3 authors of this series has been diagnosed with the Asperger syndrome.
I watched the series on a italian channel on the tv (a channel called Giallo with just crime series), but I think you can find it in many different languages on some streamings on line.
Waiting to watch the new season (it will be broadcast during the next months), I searched something similar to watch and I read that since the 2025 there is a British adaptation of the series titled "Patience" stars Laura Fraser in the Raphaelle part and Ella Maisy Purvis (who is autistic actress), in the Astrid role.
See ya soon, Silvia
