It had been a very long time since I’d watched a movie that captivated me from start to finish, until today when I saw Blue Heron, and I have to say this is the movie of the year. It’s simply a balm for the soul and one of those films you really feel—the kind that makes you love cinema, even though it’s a drama that I’m sure will strike a chord with more than a few people.
From the very first shot, you can tell the film is well-conceived and well-planned; every shot conveys something, every scene is as beautiful as the one before it—and as beautiful as the one after. The use of color is simply stunning; it evokes a sense of nostalgia that feels real, even if you haven’t experienced it yourself.

Llevaba muchisimo tiempo que no miraba una pelicula que me cautivara de principio a fin, hasta que hoy vi Blue Heron y debo decir que esta es la pelicula del año, simplemente es una caricia al alma y una de esas peliculas que se siente y que hace que ames el cine, aun siendo un drama que estoy seguro que va a tocar fibras sensibles en mas de uno.
Desde la primer toma de la pelicula se ve que esta bien pensada y bien planificada, cada toma comunica, cada escena es tan bella como la anterior, y tan bella como la siguiente, el tratamiento del color es simplemente hermoso, el color hace que sientas una nostalgia que se siente real, aunque no se haya vivido.
Las escenas y los paises de Blue Heron son tan hermosos como cotidianos, que como dije te hace que mira esta pelicula se transporte en el tiempo viendo a unos niños jugar en un patio cualquiera, con una piscina cualquiera, me he trasnportado a mi infancia, que fue bastante comun lo que me hizo conectar facilmente con la pelicula, creo que ahi esta parte del exito de Blue Heron, que hace que conectes con ella, en lo simple y en lo nostalgico.
Y es ahi donde vemos a una Pequeña niña, Sasha, quien vive feliz con sus padres y sus tres hermanos, relacion de hermanos normal con casi todos ellos, excepto con Jeremy, quien es el hermano mayor. Vemos a Jeremy quien es un joven que esta teniendo una vida bastante complicada, el muchacho esta teniendo malos comportamientos, está en una especie de etapa rebelde, en una caida en espiral.
Vemos que Jeremy cada vez comienza a subir el tono de sus actos, cada vez comienza a hacer cosas que le pueden perjudicarlo, primero empieza con no obedecer a sus padres, con escaparse y emborracharse con malas influencias, luego con robar pequeñas cosas por pura diversion, hasta cometer actos peligrosos que atentan contra su propia vida.
Debo decir que la actuacion de Edik Beddoes (Jeremy) es subime, tiene poquisimos dialogos en toda la pelicula, pero cada vez que esta en pantalla la llena con una presencia que es intimidante a veces, y que transmite muchisimas emociones, este chico ha hecho un tremendo papel en esta pelicula, se ha robado el show.
Vemos como espectadores, los recuerdos de la pequeña Sasha y como ella vivio esos momentos de su vida con su hermano mayor y como ella vio a su hermano hacerse daño tanto a el como a sus padres, no creo que Jeremy haya querido hacerle daño a su familia a proposito, no obstante sus comportamiento hacen que los pequeños, en especial Sasha, sepa que hay algo que no esta bien en su hogar y que su hermano esta sufriendo y pidiendo ayuda.
Sus padres han intendado todo lo posible, han hecho todo lo que esta en su alcance, todo lo que esta en su poder para ayudar a su hijo, sin embargo no ha sido posible recomponer a el muchacho, no por falta de amor, no por falta intentos, sino por la falta de recursos adecuados para tratar con jovenes como Jeremy.
Y es ahi donde Blue Heron se centra de una manera que te lo dice desde el principio, esos recuerdos de una niña que vio a sus padres sufrir por su hijo, quien a su vez estaba sufriendo, en ningun momento Jeremy es el villano de la pelicula, es una victima mas a quien no es facil ayudar. Sus padres estan atrapados en una situacion en la que ningun padre que ame a sus hijos quiere verse envuelto, entre al amor y el deber, pero no saber cual es el camino o la decision correcta. Blue Heron es una pelicula bella, bien hecha que tocara su corazon.
