  1. [Review] Catherine the Great@anomalogy2441d

Unquestionably HBO is taking over the television world, their series are becoming more and more successful and exciting to watch because of the incredible way in which they manage to project the plots, plots meticulously created to highlight the different details behind them that make them intense and different. Stories like Catherine the Great that are built through the exceptional development of their characters in a super interesting political conflict that is able to take away our speech for how well reconstructed it is.

This is a story that in spite of having only a couple of weeks on the air, already from the moment of the broadcast of its trailer let us know that it was going to be an intense story, full of ups and downs that would constantly mark the rhythm of a tale that in the books seems boring but that in reality was full of different political and social nuances that marked the history of a country as powerful as Russia. As if that weren't enough, this story has a cast that seems to have been taken directly from the history books and that constantly represents a real reflection of what really happened in that hard time filled with complicated moments for Russia.

    # # A Little of Plot Overview # The beginning of this series starts in a different way here we don't have a graphic representation of the previous events that marked much of the life of the Russian emperor, on the other hand we have a beginning that using something habitual in the Star Wars movies puts us in contact with the current events that led to the plot to develop in the way it is developing. A woman who through a military coup manages to get all the power of a country in conflict, a country where they began to unearth different secrets that marked the political course of the country, but however were used by a ruthless and intelligent woman, a woman who was always in control and surrounded not only of her friends but also of her enemies to have them watched. This series shows us the main dynamic in which Catherine moved, a dynamic that she used to be always aware of important details that should concern her if she wanted to remain as the Russian leader.

Obviously the firsts chapters serve as a presentation, and we do not see so much the development of the story, however, the plot constantly shows us the different paths that the series may follow, paths full of hatred and betrayal where the struggle for power is more than clear.

    Opinion.

This is a series that is seen to take a path usual in the series that deal with reigns, the path of lies, secrets and especially the stab wounds in the back. The series succeeds fantastically in transmitting different messages through complicated dialogues, dialogues that are constantly seasoned with satires and hints that incredibly mark the tempo of the story, a story that although it branches out in several ways will always be oriented into one, the struggle for power.

    # The series offers us a visual delight comparable and perhaps even superior to any high budget film, this series not only makes use of a costume design that makes us feel in flesh the time we are witnessing but also incorporates an impressive level of photography with scenarios and magical settings that undoubtedly transfer us to all the different places we are seeing, places recreated in a wonderful way and magically unite with the story. But without a doubt the most outstanding thing of the series is undoubtedly the performance of the actress who plays Catherine the great, Helen Mirren is completely transformed into the Russian empress, her gestures, her dialogues and even the smallest expressions are a delight, because she is able to transmit an emotion, an intensity and a drama unusual in television series. The character of Catherine the Great is constructed in a fantastic way, the character constantly shines highlighting the different personality traits of a woman who believed to have absolute control over Russia, a woman who was capable of being loved and hated at the same time, a woman who no matter how she acted or thought was loved and above all feared. #

    # This is undoubtedly a series that proves the great potential of stories full of complicated moments that are transformed into dramatic scenes full of intensity which constantly make the story take off and also gives the opportunity to the characters to develop and stand out a lot. Without a doubt I liked the series very much and it seems to me that it perfectly captures the suspense behind a story full of drama and conspiracies that revolve around different conflicts. #

    Series Score: 7,4
