Podemos hablar de películas de terror, pero que realmente no generan ese tema y que conste que está hablando uno de los miedosos, jajajajaja. Podemos imaginar la existencia de asesinos en serie que utilizan las mil y una herramientas para lograr sus objetivos. Pero ¿te puedes imaginar que el asesino sea un vehículo?, Bueno, si existen cosas locas en el mundo del cine, esto no sería nada anormal porque realmente existe un filme creado a través de las letras de una de las novelas del maestro Stephen Edwin King, quien es escritor de géneros de terror, misterio, ficción sobrenatural y pare usted de contar.
Y es que hablamos del filme Christine de la década de los 80, específicamente del año 1983; 9 años tenía yo y faltaban por transcurrir 3 años para cometer aquella travesura de ver el Exorcista, jajajaja. A diferencia de ella, Christine, aunque está catalogada como terror, desde mi punto de vista la veo más dentro del género de misterio, suspenso y lo fantástico o ficción sobrenatural cómo lo plantea Stephen King. Porque tener un vehículo que pueda estar poseído para cometer sus fechorías, es algo que va más allá de un posesión demoníaca en un ser humano.
Realmente no ví la película desde sus inicios, sino que la pude disfrutar aproximadamente a los 18 años y debo confesar que me gustó mucho por el efecto de tensión que se genera durante la trama y la transformación que sufre el protagonista. No quisiera tener un carro de estos si él me va a tratar así, jajajajaja. Pero no se diga más, busquen su sillón, preparen las cotufas y los refrescos, apaguen la luz que vamos juntos a disfrutar de este misterioso filme.

But can you imagine that the killer is a vehicle, well, if there are crazy things in the world of cinema, this would not be anything abnormal because there really is a film created through the letters of one of the novels of the master Stephen Edwin King, who is a writer of horror genres, mystery, supernatural fiction and stop counting.
And we are talking about the film Christine from the 80's, specifically from 1983; I was 9 years old and 3 years away from committing the prank of watching the Exorcist, hahahaha. Unlike her, Christine, although it is classified as horror, from my point of view I see it more within the genre of mystery, suspense and fantasy or supernatural fiction as Stephen King puts it. Because having a vehicle that can be possessed to commit his misdeeds, is something that goes beyond a demonic possession in a human being.
I didn't really see the movie from the beginning, but I was able to enjoy it when I was about 18 years old and I must confess that I liked it a lot because of the tension effect generated during the plot and the transformation suffered by the main character. I wouldn't want to have one of these cars if he's going to treat me like that, hahahahahaha. But that's all, find your armchair, prepare the popcorn and soft drinks, turn off the lights and let's go together to enjoy this mysterious film.
Aunque hablamos de que es descabellado que un vehículo clásico sea un asesino, este filme no fue pionero en este aspecto, ya que en 1974 de la mano de Jerry London se vió en la gran pantalla al Tractor Asesino Killdozer. ¿Se imaginan un Bulldozer Caterpillar D9 matando gente?, Que loco. Pero eso no es nada porque en 1977 Elliot Silverstein nos trae El Auto. Esta vez es un Lincoln Mark III del 71 el encargado de cometer los delitos, que llamen a las autoridades para que detengan a ese demonio. Y por si fuera poco en 1980 George Bowers conduce el clásico de horror sobrenatural The Hearse o el carro fúnebre, jajajaja, este carro mata y luego te lleva el cadáver para el velorio, jajajaja.
Pero bueno, en el mundo de la gran pantalla se ve de todo. Sin embargo seguimos adelante porque luego de que Stephen King escribiera la novela en cuestión, el también maestro del terror slasher, suspenso, ciencia ficción y acción John Carpenter se encargaría de la dirección del filme que llevaría el mismo nombre, ya saben, hablamos de Christine. No podemos olvidar que gracias a Carpenter hemos disfrutado del inicio y creación en 1978 de la saga Halloween, donde metió sus manos como director, guionista y encargado de la música. En las secuelas también participó, sino me equivoco, estuvo ligado hasta la parte 5 de esta saga.

We cannot forget that thanks to Carpenter we have enjoyed the beginning and creation in 1978 of the Halloween saga, where he put his hands as director, screenwriter and in charge of the music. He also participated in the sequels, if I'm not mistaken, he was involved until part 5 of this saga.
Pero eso no quedó allí porque luego de la pausa en 1979, desde 1980 tuvimos películas seguidas, entre ellas La niebla en 1980; Escape de Nueva York en 1981; el famoso filme que no tuvo mucho éxito La Cosa en 1982; y ahora Christine en 1983 adaptada como dije de la novela de King la cual también es del mismo año. Con esta película, además de alejarse de los slasher, se adentra en una trama juvenil donde se mezcla lo fantástico sobrenatural, con el misterio y suspenso que lo caracteriza, por otro lado, no podía faltar la música a cargo de este mismo muchacho. De plano, desde mi punto de vista la película se deja colar, entretiene y genera conexión. Ningún director puede llevar a cabo una película sin antes tener un guión y alguien que se encargue de la producción de la misma.
El guión estuvo bajo la pluma de Bill Phillips quien como cosa rara y para dejarnos fríos, no refleja quien ha poseido Christine o que tipo de demonio está dentro de él, a diferencia de la novela de King quien si hace mención de ello. Deben ver la película o leer el libro, se van a quedar clavados al sillón. En cuanto a la producción, la misma estuvo bajo la lupa de Richard Kobritz y Larry J. Franco. La idea de todo esto, era darle vida al carro, darle personalidad, pero no solo eso, sino que se enfocó en el aspecto femenino, es decir, el vehículo debía tener sed de venganza, celos a nivel psicópata, obsesión y sentimiento asesino, no te metas con mi novio dice Christine, jajajaja.

Entre ellos tenemos a Keith Gordon como el novio de Christine, Arnie Cunningham. Este muchacho participó en Tiburón II, para luego en años subsiguientes convertirse en Director y Guionista tanto en cine como en televisión.
Por otro lado tenemos a John Stockwell encarnando al mejor amigo de Arnie, Dennis Guilder. Más adelante tenemos a la novia de Arnie, Leigh Cabot interpretada por Alexandra Paul; y Robert Prosky ejecutando el papel de Will Darnell dueño del taller donde le dan cabida a la máquina asesina. Existen unos personajes secundarios, los cuales también son importantes y se hará mención de ellos si es preciso porque no puedo contar todo, no tendría sentido.

Mi descripción personal plasmada en esta reseña de acuerdo a lo disfrutado, se remonta al año 1957 donde en una ensambladora de Detroit, se lleva a cabo la creación de vehículos Plymouth Fury del 58. Como cosa rara todos los carros son de un colores blanco y pastel, menos uno, que a petición personal sería de color blanco y rojo (predominante). Este vehículo pareciera que lo ensambló el mismo diablo, porque en esa misma compañía se suceden eventos súper extraños.
Y es que uno de los empleados mientras revisa la parte frontal del vehículo, el cual tiene el cofre abierto, sin razón algún se cierra violentamente y aplasta su mano. Parece que el tipo tocó una pieza prohibida, jajaja. Luego otra situación ocurre, cuando otro trabajador entra al carro fumando y sobre el asiento caen residuos de cenizas, lo que bastó para que el carro activara su venganza y de forma extraña ese trabajador fallece. El carro fue poseido al nacer, llamen al padre Merrin, puede ser Pazuzu.
Pasado el tiempo, ya el carro está inservible y convertido en una especie de chatarra. Pero allí es donde aparece Arnie, un chico invisible en su escuela, solo lo ven para hacerle maldades. En esta versión cinematográfica no se descifra el origen de la maldad del carro, pero en la novela Stephen King describe que el espíritu de Roland es el que ha poseido el carro, casualmente este Roland Lebay es quien pide el color rojo de esta máquina.
Luego de que Arnie y su amigo Dennis salen del instituto, pasan por una especie de chatarrera donde visualizan este coche rojo, el mismo carro fabricado en 1957. Dennis le cuenta a Arnie pero no hace caso, sin embargo el cambio de personalidad continúa y Arnie se pone más arrogante y loco, va adquiriendo la personalidad obsesiva del carro. Arnie y Leigh se hacen novios, pero en una salida ella estuvo a punto de morir ahogada con una comida estando dentro del carro, por lo que le dice a Arnie que no va a entrar más a ese carro y que lo deseche, cosa que Arnie no hace, Christine está celosa de Leigh. Los novios terminan, pero ya la relación tóxica entre Arnie y Christine llega a su máxima expresión, el sentido asesino se acerca.
Una noche el líder de la pandilla que siempre maltrata a Arnie se dirige al taller donde guardan a Christine, y en compañía de sus secuaces destruyen el vehículo dejándolo totalmente como una chatarra. Arnie se enoja pero le habla al carro como si de su novia se tratara, comprendiendo de que la macabra máquina tiene vida y es capaz de auto repararse. En una de éstas, el carro con sed de venganza realiza una salida solitaria para buscar a los delincuentes y asesinarlos. Arnie se va llenando de la maldad del vehículo.
Ahora, si desean saber la forma de como arremete el carro contra la gente. Si desean saber el destino de todo aquel que está dentro y fuera del carro, esta película deben ver y disfrutar, de verdad que no tiene desperdicio. Conozcan que pasó con Arnie y su novia, y que hasta con fuego el carro anda solo, y pensar que Christine es un clásico demás de hermoso, me refiero al propio carro, jajajaja.

Por su parte, el reparto es totalmente creíble, todo ambientado en el común terreno escolar con los típicos adolescentes que están urgidos de sexo, de popularidad, y no pueden faltar los populares miembros de los diferentes equipos deportivos de la escuela, además de la presencia de la pandilla que maltrata, en este caso a Arnie interpretado por Keith Gordon quien es el nerd que a la postre sucumbe ante la obsesión del vehículo, convirtiéndolo en una persona celosa, violenta, que no está viendo para los lados, incluso es obligado por el vehículo a asesinar. La actuación de este muchacho concuerda en todos los sentidos al igual que la de los demás miembros del reparto.
En cuanto a la ambientación y la fotografía, desde mi punto de vista están bien logrados. El diseño del vehículo, los colores, las escenas, todo encaja perfectamente. Ni hablar de los efectos especiales, sobre todo al momento de la auto reconstrucción de Christine, y cuando ésta está en llamas durante la persecución es totalmente un lujo visual que nos ofrece Carpenter con su creación, que si bien es cierto no es un terror demoníaco ni lleno de sangre en abundancia, nos llena de mucha tensión, suspenso y misterio. Además, cuando Christine encienda su radio e inicie a sonar el rock and Roll, es preciso que no estés cerca, porque no es a baila que te va a sacar, tiembla tierra que llegó la máquina asesina.
La importe es que la cinta ha envejecido como toda una campeona convirtiéndose en una película de culto. De hecho está en el tapete un remake para el 2023. Esperemos a ver que nos trae esta nueva versión. Claro está que los avances tecnológicos son mayores por lo que los efectos especiales y la trama no deben decepcionar; la original, desde mi punto de vista es un clásico y no decepciona. En cuanto a la banda sonora, la música está bajo asociación con Alan Howarth, sin embargo el que gobierna ese punto es el mismo Carpenter. Sonidos vibrantes, ritmos tenebrosos, todo está bien hecho, es decir, los equipos utilizados generan un ambiente lleno de obsesión como ya se ha indicado, siendo esto una característica común de Carpenter dónde se incrementa en demasía la tensión y acción presentes en filme.

Y si la vemos en el aspecto femenino, el carro se presenta como esa chica a quien no le gusta que le saquen fiesta a su novio, por lo que está dispuesta a todo para retenerlo. Por otro lado, todo lo que ves es agradable con una calidad impregnada de un clima sonoro que incluye música y efectos únicos, además de diálogos que no aburren. En fin, me quedo con esta película y aunque sé que no es del gusto de todos, como es lógico, les invito a verla porque nunca se sabe si el vehículo que conduces tiene vida propia.
