    Movie Review:

In today's movie of the X-Men series, we see the super-powered character Jean, who is unaware of her own superpowers and is still trying to learn how to control her own superpowers at Charles' school for mutants. Professor Charles always tried to use the super powers of mutants to build a better relationship between humans and mutants.

When a space sweep sent by America loses their communications and is in danger, the American president calls Charles to help them. Not to miss this opportunity to help people, Charles sends the X-Men into space. Although he risked his life to save all the people there, the mutant Jean absorbed the energy of space and lost his normality and became more dangerous.

As Charles investigates the reason for this, he discovers that Jean is such a powerful mutant that Charles's mind reads Jean and learns the truth about his father's survival and escapes to meet his father. When Charles and his friends try to calm Jean down, an important character named Raven dies.

    [IMAGE](https://www.spotern.com/en/wanted/movie/dark-phoenix/47731/the-pants-worn-by-erik-lehnsherr-magneto-michael-fassbender-in-x-men-dark-phoenix)

Seeing this, Jean runs away and goes to Eric to learn how to control her powers. However, losing control there, Eric refuses to help her. However, killing Raven makes Jean an enemy to Beast and Eric. When Eric and Beast go to kill Jean, Eric is thrown by Jean, revealing that Jean is the strongest mutant of all.

When Charles tries to calm Jean down, Jean also tortures Charles. But when Jean reads Charles' mind, he learns that Charles always wanted to help Jean. As a result, Jean frees Charles and tells the alien to use his absorbed powers to win Vuk, and then Charles realizes that Vuk will kill Jean if he tries to take the powers from Jean.

Charles then somehow saves Jean once again. But the aliens needed all the power of Vuk's genes, and the aliens had an interesting battle with the mutants. Charles is able to tell Jean about his powers there, and Jean saves all the mutants from the aliens.

Jean later realizes that if all of her powers are taken by the aliens, she too will die. As a result, Jean channeled all of his powers into Vuk and Vuk died there. But there the genie also disappears by giving up all his powers and takes the form of a magnificent phoenix bird. And that's how today's wonderful X-Men Dark Phoenix movie ends.

    Comment:

The movie has excellent scenes of training mutants to benefit humans. I thought the movie was great, but Jean's disappearance like this could be a danger to the mutants later on. For those of you who haven't seen this wonderful movie yet, watch it soon and let us know how you like the movie.

Thank you all so much for taking the time to read about the movie and watch the movie. Coming again with a new episode of the X-Men series.

  2. X-Men: Dark Phoenix review - Only for extreme fans!@unbiasedwriter2264d

Yesterday, I finally got to watch X-Men: Dark Phoenix. It isn't on Netflix, but I have access to HBO Go in my country, and there I did find it. So, I sat down and watched the movie. To be honest, it wasn't that bad, but it wasn't at all a highlight either.

    dark phoenix.jpg

It took me a very long time to get started in the X-Men universe. But, once I got started, I watched mostly all the movies within a few weeks. So, I have the basic background information and should be capable of understanding what's going on. But, is X-Men: Dark Phoenix worth watching as a stand-alone movie? Is it worth watching at all?

The biggest trouble - the story!

X-Men is about Charles Xavier, leading a school for specially gifted people. He picks up Jean after an accident in which her mum died (and as we later get to know, after which her father couldn't look at her again as he blamed her for the death of his wife). Now Jean is older, and to save some people in space during a mission, she is filled with greater power than any other human being, and this causes a lot of confusion, trouble, anger, and other issues inside of her.

Now, that is the basic story, and to be honest... it is truly weak. There are a couple of more scenes in the movie, and I will now spoil everything, so don't read on, if you do not want to know what happens (it is really lame).

    • X-Men tries to help Jean (not succeeding).
    • Jean seeks help from Erik (not succeeding).
    • Jean is approached by a special lady who tells her to join in with her.
    • The final battle between the good and the bad.

There you have it, that is the story. To be honest, I have enjoyed the X-Men movies so far, and I kind of enjoyed this movie as well. But, the story was terrible, and there are even more things that I dislike about it.

If you haven't seen any X-Men movies before, it is hard to understand.

This doesn't work really well as a standalone movie. Do you know why? When Jean goes to chat with Erik, who is he? If people have no knowledge about who Erik is and his past with Charles, Raven, and the others, this is just a pure mess.

In fact, if you have seen the X-Men movies in the past (a couple of years ago), you will still have trouble remembering exactly all the connections and relationships, making it hard once again to see why people act and behave in the ways they do in the movie.

It isn't as dark as I thought

I feared the fact that X-Men: Dark Phoenix would be a dark and depressing movie in which our hero Jean faces trouble and darkness on her inside. I never like it when my "good" superheroes turn bad, and I feared that it would be dark in that kind of way. But, it never turned as dark and depressing as I feared, which was kind of a relief to me.

Is X-Men: Dark Phoenix worth watching?

We are in the middle of a COVID-19 quarantine and isolation time, which means many people will have spare time to use in front of the TV. So, if you do - feel free to watch X-Men: Dark Phoenix. But, if you haven't seen the other movies yet, get started with those. You can watch quite a lot of X-Men movies on Netflix in Germany and in Switzerland, so that is a good place to start if you are interested.

However, as a stand-alone movie, I would probably say that there are lots of other movies worth watching instead. All the typical Marvel heroes are more amusing and easier to watch, like Thor, Iron-Man, Captain Marvel, and all those guys.

    X-Men: Dark Phoenix score

    I think I would say 4/10...

So, those are my thoughts on X-Men: Dark Phoenix. As always, some nachos and salsa-dip combined with a cold Coke will make all movies worth watching, but if you first have such delightful treats available, why not watch something better instead?

I would love to hear your thoughts on the movie if you have seen it!

  3. IMO, Dark Phoenix Wasn't That Bad@iyanpol122267d

    Dark_Phoenix_film.png Image Source/Marvel/Fox/TSG/The Donner's Company

I am an X-Men fan, and has been watching the cartoon series back in the 1990s. By early 2000s, the first live action X-Men movie was released. Of course, I watched the film, as well as the subsequent ones. To be honest, the characters who has the attention from the cartoon series is quite different from the movies. I am not really into Wolverine being the lead character, but I learned to embrace how the X-Men movies were played out.

The X-Men movie I was disappointed at was the X-Men Origins: Wolverine. I even saw the unedited and leaked version. X-Men: The Last Stand is somewhat disappointing too. The Wolverine is better than the first Wolverine movie though.

    The Reboot

The reboot is a good idea as it takes you to the earlier lives of the X-Men, and how they were formed. The first movie was X-Men: First Class, and it took us to the early life of Magneto, Charles Xavier, Mystique, and Beast with Kevin Bacon as the villain character Sebastian Shaw.

The movie was highly acclaimed by critics, and earned somewhat fine. Its sequel was X-Men: Days of Future Past, which Wolverine time traveled to the past from future. The movie was critically loved, and became the highest grossing X-Men film with "X-Men" on its name. Of course, we all know Deadpool is part of the franchise, and its two films are the highest grossing among the franchise.

The Poor Reception on X-Men: Apocalypse

X-Men: Apocalypse followed X-Men: Days of Future Past, which reviews are mixed. I actually loved the story, though there are some scenes that weren't really effective. I actually find it better than Justice League movie. Watching Steppenwolf of Justice League and Thanos of Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame reminded me of En Sabah Nur / Apocalypse.

    My Thoughts on Dark Phoenix

Long before the release of the film, there are comparison between Dark Phoenix and MCU's Captain Marvel considering the characters are women and has pyro powers. I am even thinking about that, though I didn't watch Captain Marvel until several months after its release.

Due to early reviews, I decided not to watch Dark Phoenix. Besides, I still have hangover from watching Avengers: Endgame, which was released weeks before Phoenix, and still doing well at the box office at that time. But didn't kill my interest to watch the film.

I always read news about movies, and when Dark Phoenix opened in theaters, there are lots of negative reviews, and I even felt bad for the actors and the production who worked very hard to finish the movie. But general reviews are negative so I think it is really a bad film.

I didn't watch the movie until it was aired in a vabke channel recently. If you ask me, the movie isn't that bad story-wise, and I can say it is good. I even re-watched the movie, and I don't agree with what the critics are saying regarding the film.

The reason I see why reviews are negative is it didn't turn out how they expected it to be. It has dark undertone with its mental illness theme. But it wasn't executed that bad, and for people who has mental illness can relate to the movie. As I have some anxiety, I can feel the struggle of Jean Grey.

Another thing I noticed about some critics is they deemed Dark Phoenix as a bad film even before it was released. How can you have a positive view on something when you are close-minded with a mindset that it's bad? There you can see their intentions, which is to spread negativity on the film.

Of course, there are some people who doesn't like the film, and I saw some good reviews from those who watched it. Everything I said here are my opinions, and not for the general viewers. I still believe that whether a movie is a good or bad is a subjective matter. Everyone has perception on what they saw, but we are sometimes influenced by word of mouth.

  4. [NYT] Watch Sophie Turner and Michael Fassbender Battle in ‘Dark Phoenix’ | Anatomy of a Scene with Simon Kinberg@cryplectibles2577d
How destructive can an action scene be between two people who don’t even touch each other during battle? If one of them has magnetic powers and the other telekinetic ones, you might want to duck. This scene pits Magneto (Michael Fassbender) against Phoenix (Sophie Turner) in a sequence where a war of wills lead to pyrotechnics, errant helicopter blades and a superhero who takes a ride not on, but through, a few bicycles. In his narration, the writer and director Simon Kinberg discusses how he sought to create a set piece different from the kinds usually found in X-Men movies, while using real helicopters in the process.

  5. X-Men: Dark Phoenix – Spoiler Free Movie Review@readingdanvers2578d

    Dark Phoenix.jpg

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is written and directed by Simon Kinberg. Simon Kinberg is a long time writer and producer for the X-Men franchise, but this is his directorial debut. A different writer and a better director could have helped the movie. A lot. But this is not a directing or editing disaster like I thought it will be. The old – new familiar faces are back, James McAvoy as Professor Charles Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Erik Lehnsherr, Jennifer Lawrence as Raven, Nicholas Hoult as Hank McCoy, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Tye Sheridan as Scott Summers and Alexandra Shipp as Ororo Munroe. Jessica Chastain whom I hate also has a large mysterious role to play in this movie.

So yeah, the reviews have been hard on this movie and not rightfully so in my opinion. It is a solid and entertaining movie. Not all franchises can have an epic ending like Marvel beautifully closed their Infinity Saga with Avengers: Endgame. But this movie did feel like an ending. But, like all X-Men movies by Fox you really need to ignore the timeline and forget some of the things that happened in the previous movies. At this point I am used to it.

In this movie the X-Men are on a mission in outer space to save NASA astronauts. The mission goes wrong and Jean Grey absorbs the Phoenix Force. As the trailers showed you, Jean Grey has a hard time handling her new powers and she gets out of control and hurts innocent people causing a turmoil in the lines of the X-Men.

That third act was everything. I know it is all reshoots, but boy did it add a lot. First of all, even if the rise in action didn't let you know that these are reshoots, the fact that Jean Grey changes will let you know. Her powers go from this it is nice, to amazing. Sophie Turner did a pretty good job in this role. Which is nice considering her hair, outfit and makeup were pretty bad. But those Phoenix eyes are something to behold.

James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender are fantastic actors. They do a great job as always, even when their parts make no sense what so ever. Also their friendship is still interesting after all these years. As always, Jennifer Lawrence looks like she simply doesn't want to be there and it shows. I dislike Jessica Chastain and this movie is not what is going to make me like her, anemic will be a compliment to her performance in the movie. There is no amazing Quicksilver sequence in this movie, which disappointed me. Most of the other actors don't do much in this movie.

This is not a masterpiece of a movie that will go down in history as super bad or amazing. It is just a fun night at the theater will a little nostalgia. It is a bit that the X-Men Fox era is coming to a close in this not amazing manner as it should have been.
