Eighth Grade is a 2018 American coming-of-age comedy-drama film written and directed by Bo Burnham. It follows a teenager who struggles with anxiety but strives to gain social acceptance from her school peers during their final week of eighth grade, and copes by publishing apparently motivational vlogs despite spending much of her time obsessing over social media.

*Eighth Grade* is the latest film released by A24, one of my favorite production companies. I would sub-title this teen angst film *Confessions of an Adolescent Vlogger*. My wife and I watched this film at our local independent theater along with a rather sparse audience. This movie got my attention because nothing really happens in the movie. In most movies something out of the ordinary happens. This movie is just about an ordinary life in middle school for a shy girl. I thought it was kind of original, if a bit boring. Then I saw the production company was A24. The A24 movies I have seen have been overhyped and absolutely dreadful. So I definitely don't want to watch it now.More
