Hello everyone, fans of good stories... I hope you are feeling great today and are in good spirits... Today is one of those days that I come super excited to share with you my opinions about something new that I saw recently... yesterday I was able to see for the first time the movie/documentary Flee, and let me tell you that I was really surprised... I was expecting a typical documentary without many surprises... but I came out completely transformed, I think this movie deserves all the attention in the world... I feel that each one of you really need to see it. First of all, Flee is not typical at all, I feel like it's a masterpiece, and it's totally animated.. which, at first, threw me off a bit.. I mean, how often do we associate the word documentary with animation? Not many, right? Normally, documentaries try to convey seriousness or realism to you.. and resorting to animation might sound far-fetched.
But in a matter of a few minutes watching this, I realized how wonderful this lesson was, the animation not only tells the story of Armin, the main character, but invites you to live it.. it allows the imaginable to feel personal, real and heartbreakingly lived, you quickly forget that you are watching something animated.. because the emotions are so raw and sincere that, wow, it hits you straight to the core. Anne's story is somewhat difficult... and to put it into words is impossible. Just as you watch it, you can feel a lump in your throat... we meet this man who has been on the run his whole life, running from war, from persecution and even from himself...
The story follows his journey from Afghanistan to Denmark, but it's much more than a linear refugee narrative, it's a deep dive into identity, trauma and resilience. Have any of you ever stopped to think about what it really means to run? And it's not just geographic, it's also emotional, that's what this story tries to capture and it does it perfectly... it talks about all those scars that everyone carries with them and after a long time you can feel like you're just running away, but you have no idea what from.
Hola a todos fanáticos de las buenas historias.. espero que en el día de hoy se encuentren súper bien y estén animados.. Hoy es uno de esos días que vengo súper emocionado para compartirles mis opiniones sobre algo nuevo que vi recientemente.. el día de ayer pude ver por primera vez la película/documental Flee, y déjenme decirles que me sorprendió mucho.. yo esperaba un documental típico sin muchas sorpresas.. pero salí completamente transformado, creo que esta película merece toda la atención del mundo.. siento que cada uno de ustedes necesita verla en verdad. Primero, Flee no es nada típico, siento que es una obra maestra, y es totalmente animada.. lo cual, al principio, me desconcertó un poco.. Quiero decir, ¿cuántas veces asociamos la palabra documental con animación? No muchas, ¿verdad? Normalmente, los documentales tratan de transmitirte seriedad o realismo.. y recurrir a la animación podría sonar descabellado.
Pero en cuestión de unos minutos viendo esto, me di cuenta de lo maravilloso que fue esta lección, la animación no sólo cuenta la historia de Armin, el protagonista, sino que te invita a vivirlo.. permite que lo imaginable se sienta personal, real y desgarradoramente vivido, te olvidas rápidamente que estás viendo algo animado.. porque las emociones son tan crudas y sinceras que, wow, te llega directamente a lo más profundo. La historia de Anne es un tanto difícil.. y ponerlo en palabras es imposible. Simplemente mientras la ves, puedes sentir un nudo en la garganta.. conocemos a este hombre que ha estado huyendo toda su vida, huyendo de la guerra, de la persecución y hasta de sí mismo..
La historia sigue su viaje desde Afganistán hasta Dinamarca, pero es mucho más que una narrativa lineal de refugiados, es una inmersión profunda en la identidad, el trauma y la resistencia. ¿Alguna vez alguno de ustedes se ha detenido a pensar lo que realmente significa huir? Y no se trata sólo de algo geográfico, sino también de algo emocional, esto es lo que esta historia intenta capturar y lo hace a la perfección.. habla de todas esas cicatrices que cada uno lleva consigo y después de mucho tiempo uno puede sentir que simplemente está escapando, pero no tiene idea de qué.
Flee is a production that is about humanity.. i think some person who can watch it can become much more empathetic and honestly more appreciative, that happened to me.. sure many of us have heard refugee stories and see them reduced to simple statistics or headlines, this film, on the contrary, forces you to confront the person behind the label.. we see the protagonist not only as a refugee, but as a brother, a son, and a lover.. it is deeply personal yet universal, you can really connect with him and almost experience everything he has been through.
One thing that surprised me was when the film focused more on the psychological aftermath of Armin's experiences.. since most refugee stories I've seen tend to end at the moment of flight, framing survival as the ultimate goal, that is, when they've reached their destination, it's all over, because surely at that point, everything just becomes rosy, right? But no, Flee goes much further... it explores what happens after they have reached the end of the destination, Armin's trauma doesn't just magically disappear because he is physically safe somewhere else, it remains, it shapes his relationships and influences every decision he makes. This aspect really struck me... it's not just a story of survival, but of living with the past, how to live after having reached your destination....
Flee es una producción que trata sobre la humanidad.. creo que alguna persona que pueda verla puede volverse mucho más empático y honestamente más agradecido, eso me pasó a mí.. seguro muchos de nosotros hemos escuchado historias de refugiados y las vemos reducidas a simples estadísticas o titulares, esta película, al contrario, te obliga a enfrentarte a la persona detrás de la etiqueta.. vemos al protagonista no solo como un refugiado, sino como un hermano, un hijo, y un amante.. es profundamente personal y al mismo tiempo universal, realmente puedes conectar con él y casi experimentar todo lo que ha vivido.
Una cosa que me sorprendió fue cuando la película se enfocó más en las secuelas psicológicas de las experiencias de Armin.. ya que la mayoría de las historias de refugiados que he visto tienden a terminar en el momento de la huida, enmarcando la supervivencia como el objetivo final, o sea, cuando ya llegan a su destino, todo acaba, porque seguramente en ese momento, simplemente todo se vuelve color de rosa, ¿verdad? Pero no, Flee va mucho más allá.. explora lo que sucede después de haber llegado al final del destino, el trauma de Armin no solo desaparece mágicamente porque esté físicamente a salvo en otro lugar, sino que permanece, da forma a sus relaciones e influye en cada decisión que toma. Este aspecto realmente me impactó.. no es solo una historia de supervivencia, sino de vivir con el pasado, el cómo vivir después de haber llegado a tu destino..
Another thing that stood out to me was Armin's dual struggles.. not only was he fleeing the violence and chaos of his homeland, but he was also hiding his identity as a gay man in cultures where being authentic and true to himself could cost him his life.. it's heartbreaking. And this is where the film really shines, it doesn't treat these issues as separate...instead, it weaves them together in a way that makes you feel his isolation, his fear, and all that longing for acceptance. I must tell you that the storytelling is simply stunning, every scene feels intentional.. every detail is meticulously placed, there are certain moments where Armin talks about all those sacrifices he has had to make and how he has seen his family.. how they made him who he is today, it really is all very profound.. you can feel all that weight and pain, it's very powerful.. you find yourself constantly questioning things you take for granted, like security, home and love, you start to realize how lucky you are.
The animation alone deserves a standing ovation... it's not flashy or over the top, but it doesn't need to be, it uses simplicity to its advantage, counterbalancing the beauty of the fleeting moments of peace with the unrelenting brutality of this boy's past... we get to see in detail when he remembers all those dark moments... the animation shifts to much more abstract, almost nightmarish visuals, it's haunting and brilliant. I don't think a live action film would have conveyed the same intensity, the animation removes all the limitations of realism, allowing everything to transcend into something much more perfect.
Otra de las cosas que me llamó la atención fue la lucha doble de Armin.. no solo huía de la violencia y el caos de su tierra natal, sino que también ocultaba su identidad como hombre gay en culturas donde ser auténtico y fiel a sí mismo podía costarle la vida.. es desgarrador. Y aquí es donde la película realmente brilla, no trata estos problemas como algo separado.. en cambio, los entrelaza de una manera en la que te hace sentir su aislamiento, su miedo, y todo ese anhelo de aceptación. Debo decirles que la narración es simplemente impresionante, cada escena se siente intencional.. cada detalle está meticulosamente colocado, hay ciertos momentos en los que Armin habla de todos aquellos sacrificios que ha tenido que hacer y cómo ha visto a su familia.. cómo ellos lo convirtieron en quien él es hoy, realmente es todo muy profundo.. puedes sentir todo ese peso y ese dolor, es muy potente.. te encuentras constantemente cuestionando cosas que das por sentado, como la seguridad, el hogar y el amor, te empiezas a dar cuenta de lo afortunado que eres.
La animación por sí sola merece una ovación...no es llamativa ni exagerada, pero no necesita serlo, usa la simplicidad a su favor, contrarrestando la belleza de los momentos fugaces de paz con la brutalidad implacable del pasado de este chico.. podemos ver detalladamente cuando recuerda todos esos momentos oscuros.. la animación cambia a unos visuales mucho más abstractos, casi de pesadilla, es inquietante y brillante. No creo que una película de acción real hubiera transmitido la misma intensidad, la animación quita todas las limitaciones del realismo, permitiendo que todo trascienda hacia algo mucho más perfecto.
If I'm being nitpicky and somewhat analytical, I'd say the last 15 minutes feel a bit rushed.. there's so much emotional buildup and then suddenly, bam! it's all over. I, personally, wanted more.. maybe an exploration that went further.. I feel like the time flew by, but hey, possibly this is a sign of how involved I was in it all.. I recommend this movie/documentary deeply, it's not just a thing you watch just because you're bored.. it's an experience. It's one of those rare movies that stays with you, that you remember it, keep it, and it will become one of the top recommendations for all your friends. I give it a 9.8/10. Why not a perfect 10? Because perfection is boring... and this movie is anything but, it's raw, messy and yet beautiful, just like life itself. I hope you liked this recipe... see you in the next ones, take care. Bye bye.
Si me pongo quisquilloso y un tanto analítico, diría que los últimos 15 minutos se sienten algo apresurados.. hay tanta acumulación emocional y de repente, pum! todo se acaba. Yo, personalmente, quería más.. tal vez una exploración que fuera más allá.. siento que el tiempo pasó volando, pero bueno, tal vez esto sea una señal de lo involucrado que estaba en todo.. Recomiendo esta película/documental profundamente, no es solo una cosa que ves solo porque estás aburrido.. es una experiencia. Es una de esas películas raras que se quedan contigo, que las recuerdas, las guardas y se convertirá en una de las principales recomendaciones para todos tus amigos. Yo le doy una calificación de 9.8/10. ¿Por qué no un 10 perfecto? Porque la perfección es aburrida.. y esta película es todo menos eso, es cruda, desordenada y a la vez hermosa, como la vida misma.
